I need something that will cycle the wifi on my phone on and off at either set times or on a timer. I didn't notice anything in the market for this. Does this exist anywhere?

tasker can do this i think
Ah cool I think this will work nicely. Thanks, didn't think about an automation app.

How would I go about setting a check that would make sure the wifi radio is turned on every fifteen minutes. I need to keep it on even if someone turns it off. I think I have a profile set up to do this, but it only turns it on once. When I turn it off manually tasker never turns it back on. This task stuff is warping my mind haha.

When I unlock my phone and immediately tap an icon nothing happens. I know I've read that other people have had this problem. Has anyone figured out what causes it

Never hears of that, when I immediately click on something after I unlock my tn it opens the app no problem
I've tried many Roms and keep having the problem. Even tried different kernels and governors. I don't think it happened for the first week I had it.

You'll notice that it happens when your phone is plugged in. I don't know the reason for it, but I'm pretty sure it's a bug with the phone itself.
It happens even when it's not plugged in. Every time. It's not even a once in a while thing.

This also happens if you under clock very low with screen off. Then its slow to wake up, get notifications, and react.
I thought about that too. I don't have any profiles set and it still happens. Oh well. Thanks for the suggestion. If I can't figure it out I'll unroot and go exchange it.
Are using the sense launcher ?
-Monky_1
I had tried sense, launcher, adw, adw ex, and launcher pro. All with the same problem. Somehow this morning its back to how it should be. I have no idea what I did.

Are you running a task killer, antivirus, or setcpu? If yes to any of them that could be causing your problem.
I removed setcpu, and lookout and restarted and it still wasn't better so I put them back on. But today its still better for the first time in a week. Only thing I did different was pull the battery. Hopefully it keeps working.

Do you know if the LED lights go back to full brightness after I turn on my screen?
Sent from my G2X using XDA Premium
No they don't. They stay at the setting in the app. Paul put it out its quality
Edit: this should be in the Q&A section

Ok I installed that program
I tried it before but didn't played too much with it
Do I know if I NEED the service running 24/7 on order to work?

If your using the app, yes the service MUST run. If its built into the kernel\ROM like CM7, then you dont even need the app
You shouldn't be running a task killer anyway. Android manages its services by itself killing system apps on a regular basis can make apps that need to be running in the back ground start again wasting battery. Plus your phone will act strange after awhile. You shouldn't use them.
Again this belongs in Q&A

Moved to proper forum.
Too bad I didn't read this thread earlier, I figured this out on my own today, doing the same thing, I changed my brightness to 1 (the lowest it would stay lit) , I do think this would definitely help out on battery life.

The Touch Key Lights app DOES NOT works properly with
1) Cyan 7 mod
I am using stock Android now, it works like a charm
One touch, and the program changes the value FOREVER (even after reboots, after I re-insert the battery...)
I don't see a stay awake mode while charging under development in settings... Any one know how to keep the screen on while charging??

Look for app "stay awake" in the market.

What is the purpose of staying awake?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
probably to stop the screen from turning off while you're using the phone when it's plugged in.
It also seems useful when reading stuff online. There are so many times when I'm reading a really long article or something and since I'm a slow reader I have to keep slowly scrolling down the page every time the screen dims to make sure it doesn't turn off.
Yeah. I like the screen automatically cutting off sometimes, but when I'm reading stuff and I just happen to not read as fast as Samsung wants me to... poof... a black abyss.
Is there an app or setting that is in the hidden menu so that while the screen is off data is off... I know they have the setting for wifi but I'm hardly around wifi except at home, and I'm hardly ever home... which is why I would like to save as much battery as possible.

JuiceDefender does not work well with any stock based rom like Weapon. For stock based rom you have to use the new beta version.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.latedroid.juicedefender.beta
Will try later, I have juice defender before but it was just a nuisance and didn't see any real change. Maybe I'll look into it some more, thanks.

Tasker can do it easily. There's really no reason to ever use Juice Defender, Tasker can do everything it can do and so much more.

Tasker is a great app but some people don't use paid apps and juice defender can do what the OP needed in the free app.. But if you don't mind the $6 and some change its a great app

All of a sudden Wifi turns itself on. Ironically it just turned on. Happens like 2-3 times a day. Even at night. WTF?

Settings - More settings under wireless and networks - mobile networks - last option. It's this checked?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Sorry I should have said that I'm on Verizon, which doesn't have that setting.

Verizon has the same thing. It's in a different place. Go to settings, Wi-Fi, and click advanced. You will see auto connect as the first option.

Yes Ok same option basically I guess, different location. But it's not checked. I have checked that let it run for a bit then unchecked and still wifi starts randomly.

I also did that a while ago. And I just double checked to make sure that location settings was not enabled.

Bump again. Unfortunately I got the OTA this week. And even that didn't fix the WiFi turning itself on issue. I still can't find a pattern.

What you guys are doing is turning off WIFI Popup Notification. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776683
You need to also turn off Wifi Reminder if you have not done so already.
•You will need root
•You will need a SQLite editor
(Here's a link to a free one if you need it) http://code.google.com/p/xdroidx/dow...20Editor-9.apk
1.Open Settings Storage > db > secure
2.Search for “wifi_networks_available_notification_on” (Sometimes will be a different line numbers see attached)
3.Edit that record to read a value of 0 < (that's a ZERO)
4.Reboot your phone
This worked for me.. I did this to my phone on day one.:good:
Hope this helps
