Hi Everyone,
I recently rooted my phone-Droid Incredible on verizon-and like a dumbass i deleted facebook for htc sense, not realizing that it was necessary to sync your contacts with facebook. i downloaded the apk and when i try to load it using astro it says file size 0 data size 0 total size 0. i redownloaded it a few times to the same effect. Did a factory reset in recovery mode and still nothing. don't know if there is any other solution besides flashing a new rom. would prefer not to do that as i am not that experienced of an android user. am a blackberry convert (6 yrs) and this is my first android phone.
any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you

you need to check out your local xda IRC and maybe get them to walk you through the process. A good idea would be to reflash your froyo rom. Since you arent experienced you need to check these threads first

Deleted some Google Talk files on rooted G1 and messed it up!

I want to start off by first appologizing for posting this in the wrong area (if I did), as I understand it's important to place the post in as specific as a topic as possible.
Two days ago I went in and deleted a few .apk files that had to do with GTalk, not realizing all those apps talk to each other to do certain tasks. I have not been able to download from the market OR sign into Google Talk since.
I found a forum last night where somebody had the exact same problem. Some guy posted a link to the files to put back on the phone. But since I can't download apps, I can't get a file manager to install the .apk files I downloaded onto my PC. I've tried using SDK and it is SUPER confusing. Please help as I am so frusterated I want to cry and pull my hair out.
Thanks in advance.
I am using a windows 7 laptop
Rooted G1 with CyanogenMod
adb is not difficult, if you are rooted would be more simpler.
try this

Sorry for bringing back an old thread, but I have ran into a similar problem on a US a854 milestone, I just recovered my phone from a bad experience trying to flash to 2.2, anyway i rooted again this evening and used root explorer to delete bloatware, unfortunately i uninstalled gtalk(google talk) and now I cant download from market. I need to find a way to get gtalk back. I do not have a back up and if someone can tell me how to create a nandroid back up I would be greatly appreciative, but I need to get gtalk back first
thanks in advance

UPDATE, I found some talk.apk files on this forum and got me squared away.....for the record there here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773272

Welcome to the forums and please search and read as most question are already answered. Also as stated in your other post by another member please no double posting as it causes clutter. Just wait for the answer or comments on your first post.
As for the issue I would most likely say to download and flash the stock rom if you don't want to flash something custom. Android is extremely easy to get in to and you could always use this as a push towards doing so. If you have any issues you always have the forums here for help.

New guy in need of help.

Proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S 4G. It was loaded with bloat so I rooted it. All was well until yesterday when the following issues occurred......
1- The gallery opens and says "no items" when there are pictures there. I can see the thumbnail image but clicking on that only opens a black screen.
2 - I have no audible notifications. I get an error message "process com.android.mms" has stopped and force close.
3- I cant update any of my programs. The updates/reinstall download hangs and never connects. error message " process com.android.vending" has stopped then force close
I was careful to only delete files associated with the bloatware but may have deleted something very much needed.
Any help is greatly appreciated and apologies if this is posted in an incorrect thread.
stupid question, have you tried a complete reboot? Taking battery out and putting it back in?
aside from that it sounds like if that doesnt fix it then you removed something that the system needed...if noone can come up with anything for you a hard reset may be in order..
and this should be moved to general or q&a forum.
Hope you get it fixed!
Pulled battery, sim and sd. Done reset with T-Mo on line and Samsung tech support. Thanks for the reply. Will move post.
I would do a factory reset man, Is not a big deal. Sounds like you deleted a file that shouldn't have deleted.
Try to only delete apps and not system files.
I don't recommend deleting "com.android" files unless you know what you are doing. If you didn't delete any file that begins with "com.android" or similar then it means you deleted a file that try to invoke those files.
If you want to hard reset your phone go to Setting>Privacy>Factory data reset.
Hope this helps
@Moshe22 -- I've done 3 factory and data resets with the same results. sadly that doesn't or didn't add my missing file/s that I may have deleted on accident.
Thanks for the reply.
If that is the case and you have done the 2 types of reset, the one described in my previous post and the one where you enter into recovery mode then i would advised to flash your phone with one of the ROM's in this forum. That should fix it. Make sure you research alot before you flash your phone.
1. Duplicate post
2. Wrong forum
@Toshonobu --
This was already pointed out so it was moved to the correct forum. Can't help people being polite and answering on this forum as well.
Thanks for not offering any advice and just pointing out my posting error. Cheers
Just do what Moshe22 said.
There is a stock rom and the kb5 enhanced in these forums, so take your pick.

KD1StockODIN.tar File?

KD1StockODIN.tar File?
Hi guys, I recently soft bricked my sidekick4G (because I'm new to the sidekick and stupidly didn't do enough research) after installing a ROM.
The Easy One-Click Root program rooted my phone, but for some reason wouldn't pop up any super user notifications, so I went into super user and checked the allow all; that seemed to work for installing my third party apps like Root Explorer.
So I remember I installed the red CWM or w.e it's called (Voodoo?) and that work fine, I can still enter it, I can also enter the orange CWM by applying the "sdcard:update.zip" (Which I thought to be forbidden).
So here I am now getting a robotic woman's voice on every boot saying "Convert data partition, system not available"
I know I need to use this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1186954 (The "[ROM][ODIN] Stock ODEXED T839UVKG2 (Sidekick 4G) Firmware [7/26/11]" thread to go into download mode and install ODIN,
SO.... My problem is that I cannot find the KD1StockODIN.tar file ANYWHERE, all megaupload websites blocked it, and risky torrents have already pissed me off enough.
If any of you have this file, can you Please, PLEASE attach it or upload it, or find a working link for me? I would really, really appreciate it.
Or
If there are any other alternatives to fix the dilemma I'm in, please let me know, as I am new to the Sidekick 4G.
Thank You Guys! And I can promise some THANKS for you too if you help me out =)

Finally Found a thread with everything I needed, drivers, flash program; it was so simple. I realizes I made the mistake of having anti-virus on, with quaranteened most rooting programs. I also didn't have the right drivers, or flash player installed.
This Thread has it all, and much thanks to the thread maker JiN1337

Motorola Droid 2 Global OTA files

Hey guys,
I've been using XDA for quite a while, but so far the community as a whole has been so helpful and thorough that I have never needed to make an account and post, so if any part of this post is wrong or in the wrong section please feel free to move or close this thread.
Now down to business: recently, some old Moto Droid 2 Globals resurfaced at my house, and as they are very old and outdated I figured I would re-purpose them into a few projects I'm working on, as they probably won't be extremely useful in any other ways. Here is my problem though: in order to use them how I would like, they must be rooted. Rooting is not my problem: I have rooted one of them many times when I was still using it (I might or might not have bricked it one or seven times while trying to install custom ROMs so flashing, rooting, and every other aspect of un-bricking is familiar to me). HOWEVER, ALL THE FILES NEEDED TO DOWNGRADE, ROOT, REFLASH AND RESTORE DO NOT EXIST ANYMORE!. This is one of those times where things on the internet actually disappear, as quite a few of the mirrors to the files I need were hosted on the gem of the internet back in the early 2010s, MegaUpload. The rest of the files were linked to personal servers, smaller and now nonexistent file hosting companies, or were straight up removed from their links. So what I'm asking is: if you ever had to root a Motorola Droid 2 Global running GingerBread 2.3.4, System Version 4.5.629.A956.Verizon.en.US, and for some reason you still have the files required to root it, could you upload it and post a link in the comments? I will list the necessary files below in case you would like to scour the internet as I have, or if you want to check that the files you might have are the ones needed. I will also post links to a few guides so if you want to refresh yourself or see how the process is done you can do so without extra searches.
And seriously guys, thanks in advance. Even if no one has the files, this community has helped me out so much over the years that a thank you was way overdue.

(not entirely sure what this one below is, it looks like its a correct file but its got huge red "DO NOT INSTALL" all over the page so take it how you will)

Files I'm (mostly) Certain I Need:
Verizon OTA Version 4.5.608 (but it looks like this is a modified and repacked version)
Verizon OTA Version 4.5.629
