[email protected] I bought the android device nüvifone a50. It comes with eclair. I heared, that the joined-venture between garmin and asus is at the end. So, there`ll be no official rom-updates to gingerbread or so in the future. I think, this device is a very good one. And it would be great, if some of the great rom-cookers from this forum would create a custom rom based on an gingerbread-rom in german and english language.
I`ll not a rom cooker, but i have already rooted my device and i would learn more about rom-cooking, adb, busy-box pp.
Would anybody help me?
Best regards

I would also love to see a Gingerbread ROM for the A50.
Is it possibel to use any of the other ROM's or does the phone need to have a Rom made specfically for it?
I'd also love to see Gingerbread or Froyo on this phone, is anyone going to make one?
hey guys sorry for interrupting!!! I just was passing looking for something else, garmin asus wont support any rom after 2.1 because the chip does not support this OS.
basically its 256 ROM, 256 RAM, 600 MHtz CPU, ARMv6
but you need ARMv7
btw, I would be happy to have it on mine too.

Hi I 'M a new man here . i bought asus garmin a50 last week .i think it's costs-effective android phone . the hardware almost same as the htc legend, excpet the ram .256vs 387(right).so why htc legend could update to froyo ,a50 can't ???
The A50 (Garminfone) has the 600mhz ARMv6 msm7227. Same as HTC Aria and Legend. Froyo can definitely run on it with official manufacturer roms and custom roms (although it may not be *officially* supported by Google Android 2.2).
We just need someone to figure out the bootloader and cook a rom. I think there is little motivation to do this though, since it will almost certainly kill the Garmin GPS software, which is why most people bought this phone in the first place.
There is some talk on the Cyanogen rom forums about developing a techniques to load a custom rom and still keep the Garmin software, like Cyanogen does with Google Apps. I won't be holding my breath though...

Thanks sharky for this information - just hope I guess
Chas
i know it's not going to happen officially, but i hold out hope that someone smarter than me is working away at making froyo work for us
What I know is the upgraded os can run apps designed for lower os. This is fact in developing applications. for example app runs on 2.1 will run 2.3.
the dilemma is that asus garmin uses special lib for garmin application these libs need to be ported to the new os. and this is not easy to be done.
thanks
looks no hope yet?
Anyone came across this?
rahmani123.co.cc/?p=305
It's titled "Tutorial Upgrade/Update Asus A50 to Android 3.1".
Is it a joke?

I think its a joke, I bricked my previous phone with crap information and thats enough. never trust morons again.
say it like this
i asked them for 18 months for froyo and they were thinking about it.
send emails to eric chen at asus. we might get a shot at froyo.
every time i buy a non asus or garmin product i send a email to the appropriate company explaining why i am not buying their product.
this tickles them.
still both companies are still at it.
ask any eepad transformer prime owner why they bought a tablet without wifi or gps.
ask anyone who paid for a 12 month map package with garmin and then found 6 months later that they have to pay again for the same package to upgrade it.
yes only garmin would exclude upgrades from a 12 mth package.
fink x fink breeds superfink ...garmin x asus breeds garminasus.
bomb eric chen at asustek with emails until we get service.
I have a Garmin Assus A50 and i don't mind to delete all the existing app or function in the phone include the garmin navigation app. is that possible can upgrade to froyo or higher?
don't think it will ever happen
I don't think or believe will see anything higher then 2.1 on the garmin-asus phone, wish we would.
Hello folks, I am 1 week old in this android world, I just installed Honeycomb 3.0, which is awesomely over the top except for ONE thing,,,,, my stereo Bluetooth headphones that worked perfectly on android froyo 2.2 don't work in honeycomb. They are recognezed, paired and connected but no audio would ever come out!!!
Please help me, I don't wanna give up on m Booth headphones and return to the cable stone age and I don't want to go back to froyo either.
Take care!!!
I have the same issue with my Desire S. Connection but no audio. I contacted HTC about it and they say the bluetooth setup is different to previous phones so I should contact the makers of my bluetooth device to get an upgrade of their firmware.
Would it not be possible to extract the software relating to bluetooth from an older ROM?
Would it work?
Honeycomb 3.x
can someone please tell me where i can find the image for Honeycomb 3.x for my Superpad 2 / Flytouch 3 tablet. i have been looking everywhere and all i find is the skd on android.com's site. i dont know anything about sdk's or how to get it on the tablet... thanks in advance if you are able to provide me with this information
I have a Chinese Android A101. I was able to use Gingerbreak on it to root (took two tries but it took), but I cant seem to find a app that will backup the ROM. Clockworkmod doesn't support it and all the instructions for Nandroid have keyboard steps. I'm a Android noob so you may, to some degree, have to hold my hand. I'm wanting to get into flashing ROMs to try out some of the newer Android OS's like Ice cream Sandwich.
Thanks!

Can anyone suggest any other ROM backup software?
never heard about this phone
The Shanzhai phone?
Havent heard about this phone even though im a chinese..
You can ask the seller to help you. to upgrade or ask some suggestion.
Yeah, take it to where you bought it and ask around. There's always a repair desk with people skilled in ROM modification and such.
I got it off of Amazon and the seller knows little about modding. I have the android SDK tools and Android Commander working and I'm able to access the root just fine.
Here are a couple of links to the phone.

I have a Gigabyte phone GSMART GURU G1. Its maximum licenced version of SW is Jelly Bean v. 4.2.1
I have just bought a heart-rate belt with bluetooth option to connect it to my android mobile phone. Because I did not read the specifications before I bought it I did not see it is only compatible with Android version 4.3 or higher (something to do with "Bluetooth low energy" stuff...) When I tried to connect it, the bluetooth device just wasnt found. I tried it on my girlfriends phone who has 4.4 android and it connected perfectly...
So when I checked my phone specs. I saw that I have 4.0 Bluetooth so the phone is able to read connect with it - the problem is that there is no newer version of android coming out for my phone therefor I can not ever connect it...
My question to you is if there is somekind of app that would just "UPGRADE" my bluetooth so it could connect to this heart-rate belt for running? It is really not that old phone and so I do want lose guaranty with rooting it (neither I think there is some confirmed program for it)....
Do you have any sudgjestions for me?
Thanks
So really no one can give me an answer?!
