[Q] Need a way of viewing shared Exchange calendars in Android - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys, I work for a company that relies heavily on shared Exchange calendars.
Does anyone know a way to view Exchange shared calendars in Android? I cannot do it using stock Android mail (to my knowledge), or HTC Sense mail and cannot find any apps that do it either.
Seems silly as I would have thought it quite a simple thing to do??

Samsung Galaxy S Calendar

I'm frustrated with the Samsung Galaxy S' calendar. My important appointments make a little low *bip* sound and that's about it. I tried to use Calendar Snooze, but I can't get it to work. Apparently you should be able to select snooze option from the Calendar app but it doesn't work because no such option is available on my phone. Changing the sounds in the phone settings makes no difference. Any ultra mega hacker who knows how to take control over the calendar notifications?
yes, this is a bug or not but a very tiresome. i need this knowledge too how can i change.
Mine uses the default notification sound.
Menu-> Settings -> Sound & Display -> Notification ringtone, pick one.
I take that back. I used Calendar Notifier from Market to solve that specifically without rooting. You could also root and replace the TouchWiz calendar with the Android stock calendar.apk. the instructions, etc are here
when syncing with exchange, docs attached to meeting notices don't show up as downloadable like they do in email. Anyone know of a way around this or a Calendar alternative that does recoginize attachements embedded in calendar appointments?
nobody can share any insight on this?
since nobody responded to my question, just wanted to update and say that as of now the only work around i've found is to download the attachment(s) while the meeting notice is still an email (i.e. before you accept it so its added to your calendar). If anyone has a suggestion for a better way of handling embedded docs in calendar appointments, i'm all ears. Thanks.

Hi, on my business laptop with MS Windows and Outlook 2010 I use a tool named "Google Calendar Sync" to synchronize Outlook calender with my Google calender. Just search on Google for "Getting started with Google Calendar Sync".
Another way to get Outlook stuff synchronized with your Galaxy S is to use your Exchange account. But I don't want to use exchange on my Galaxy S because of battery drain. So this tool is a good compromise ;-)
Hi, here are my two cents: I'm using Touchdown for syncing my company MS Exchange account. It does download the meeting attachments when viewing mails/meeting notes, so this might help you out.
It is quite expensive (around 14 euro) but it is by far better than the stock exchange app and the support is perfect when mailing them. The other plus is that you can set whether you want to pull or push at certain times.
Having said that there are some downsides as well: the UI is (mildly said) very basic and its calendar looks like the programs from the 80s (but there are a few market calendar apps which one can use to view the meetings list)
Hmm.. I agree that this sounds pretty much like spamming but cross my heart: I'm just a happy Touchdown user (using some other apps as well to make my daily life organized) sharing my experience.
I hope that this answer your help call.
Cheers,
Rocky

[Q] Calendar and or google exchange sync software

Hello all,
I use android on my HD2 for a month now and im very satisfied. I only miss one thing and that is the functionality of calendar and exchange... let me explain.
I want the same as in winmo calendar meaning:
Ability to sync all appointments (now not an option in android exchange settings)
Ability to copy paiste appointments (not possible in touchdown, which im using now)
Ability to set peak times (not possible in android exhange settings)
Ability to work with one agenda and not two (as in google and exchange) so mb an outut function ?
And it will be nice to switch form week to week in day view (as in winmo calendar)
Heck is there an winmo calendar for android ? HAhaha
Does any1 know either an app that does the above, or an app that edits the android exchange setting. Any1???
Thanks !!
Any1 ? I cant believe im the only one with this problem. Is there a solution or doesnt it excist ?

Native Exchange Calendar

Hey All,
Is there and Android native app that syncs your exchange calendar with your google calendar...
Like Moxier, Touchdown, etc. are all fine, but they have their own calendars - I just want one calendar with everything (in this case, my google calendar)...
Yeah, I know there are desktop apps, but these are useless if you're on the road for weeks and only carrying your beloved Android phone...
Thanks!
Thought I'd answer my own question since no one else could... That way, if anyone else wants an answer to the same question, here it is...
Yes - 2.2 gives you exchange calendar sync, so all your appointments appear on the one android calendar. Nice - no need for Moxier, Touchdown or anything, and I only have to look at one calendar to find out my schedule, not 3...

[Q] Shared Calendar on Mobile Phone with Exchange

Hi,
I have been googling for days trying to find a solution, but I haven’t really found exactly what I need. What I’m looking for is app or program that can share an outlook (exchange) calendar to multiple Smartphone’s, android, ios, and blackberry. There is apps that can do this, but it only shares your personal calendars, not a mailbox created on exchange and share its calendar. Also I would want to be able to remove access to the smartphones if they are not longer working at my company.
This is the hard part, having the control when people bring in their own device, to be able to give them access to the shared calendar and revoke when needed. Without actually physically having their phone.
The only example is, create a Google account, then create a shared Google calendar, have all users make their own Google account, and share it to them, when they leave, just remove access. But because I’m in a Microsoft environment with Exchange, I want to have all the control in house with the ability to have it on smartphones(active sync cannot do shared calenders). Any help or suggestions from the community would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dachari
Does anyone know of a solution?

[Q] Outlook (Office365) Calendar?

Hi guys! First post on this forum, and I was wondering if you could help me out with a little problem here :fingers-crossed:
The place I work use Outlook calendar, and I would love to get that showing on my SW2. However I can't seem to find any apps that support anything else than the "standard" Google calendar. I've tried subscribing to the Outlook calendar with Google, but the refreshing of the .ics-feed is WAAAAY too slow (like 6-24 hours), and I need it to update rather fast. Anyone know a solution to this problem?

Thanks to the both of you!
However I landed on adding the Exchange account to the "Accounts" part of Android. After that, it was a breeze to sync calendars.:good:
