[Q] Barnacle WiFi tether not in market? - XPERIA X10 Themes and Apps

Hi All,
I can't find the barnacle wifi tether app in the market. I am using an AT&T debranded X10a running 2.1 world generic. Any thoughts on this? How can I get the app?
Thanks!

siriusxm app

i dont know if anyone knows about sirius xm app being released so i am letting one know it works great on my nexus with dock so i am posting a linkhttp://www.siriusxm.com/app-download/android/siriusxm.apk
and if it comes up as a zip just rename it .apk for the file extension
Took me a little while to find it after install since the App name in the drawer was "Online", but other than that its been working great for me this morning over WiFi
they only give you a free 7 day trial, then you must subscribe.
Damnit, damnit .. no Howard.
Thanks. I had signed up to be notified of this but they didn't send anything.
Sucks we can't get Howard, but NFL Radio should tide me over.
This app Siriusly sucks balls. How are you going to release an app and block your flagship station? Total fail!!!!
Awesome, thanks!
Does this only work over wifi?
Works great with my already active Sirius account.

froyo, holmes.
I'm using Froyo and on 3g it connects to give station listings and let.gr log in, but when I attempt to listen to something complains that I need a data connection.
Worked on EVDO on my Girlfriend's new Samsung Moment I got her today, did not work on T-Mobile 3g on my Nexus one, however I didn't have the greatest reception. Worked great on Wifi though.
I'm on froyo, with cyans root, (needed busybox) and it worked fine over 3g with me.
Do you need to pay extra for the mobile service if you already have an active account with them or is that all you need?

I don't think so, but I am going to try and work with the developers to get it working. They helped do the same for the Captivate and Vibrant.
It opens and starts but I can't see the access point.
It's entirely possible that I'm posessed and having this effect on the phones, but Wireless Tether works for me on a Captivate and Epic with root only.

which version and where did you download? As an access point? Have you actually been able to connect and use internet?
remounted my system as r/w
downloaded SuperUser by ChainsDD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828
Menu >> check for newer SU >> yes install
Downloaded and installed this wifi-tether: http://code.google.com/p/android-wi..._tether_2_0_5-pre8.apk&can=2&q=Samsung+Galaxy
I also have busybox installed.
wifi tether shows up as an Adhoc, but not as an access point....
Download is good but upload seems like plain EVDO and not RevA.
Tried the latest from Wifi Tether and it seems to work but only in ad-hoc mode. And it is kind of slow..

VERY slow is more like it.
After trying the latest wifi-tether, it appears to have broken my wifi. I cannot connect to my wifi network, even though wifi is turned on. AHHHH
EDIT: OMG I think I actually seriously broke my wifi. I have root enabled using the 1-click method described in the other thread. I installed busy box w/ Titanium Backup, and the latest wifi tether. I pressed tether once to try it and then disabled it. Now my WIFI DOESNT WORKKKK. It sees my wifi but when I connect... it won't connect, it just shows it's available again.
Tuna put down ur epic better yet pm me when all the kinks are ironed out so i can buy an epic lol. Til then my tether works AWESOME on my Evo lol. J/k have fun

Can this be installed in the EPIC
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=760243
it seems to be an app removed by carriers from the Galaxy S line (not sure, looking for someone that has an idea if it would work or not?)
Wifi tether works fine with me with the pre08 version installed. I just used the base installer to install the apk...
1.38Mb download. plenty fast enough

[REQ] Wireless Tether

I have been switching roms lately and am currently on MIUI. I noticed the Wireless Tether app is not included and when I search the market it says that it isn't available on my carrier (VZ). Can someone post the Wireless Tether app apk?

i think wireless tether was pulled from the market but if youre on MIUI GB than you already have wireless tethering because gingerbread comes with that feature pre installed it should be somewere in the sttings and its free.
If it isn't there, you can get it here:http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
Wow thanks guys.
I see the wifi portable hotspot is there in the menus on MIUI. It would just be easier to have an app in my app folder instead of digging.
Is the FM radio apk on there somewhere? Im searching as we speak.

You can d/l one of the stock Roms and pull the apk out of it.
I took it out of CM7 and it just force closes. Oh well.
Did you try fix permissions?

[Q] Wifi Tethering? ~SGH T989~

Hey all!
I rooted my rooted Samsung Galaxy SII T989 for T-Mobile yesterday, and went to install wifi tethering with barnacle today. I was about to install when I saw the button "Wifi Hotspot" in the notifications bar. I clicked it, and used my wifi tethering. So my question is, what is the point in using barnacle? I can apparently now use T-Mobile's hotspot service for free, so it seems pointless to use a third party application. So my question would be: what is the point in freezing the wifi tethering process, or installing a new one when you can just use the normal tethering app?
Additional note: I'm using the Darkside Evolution Rom
It's all the same, same with HTC portable hotspot it does the same as WiFi tether or barnacle from the market

wi-fi tether for free? Do I need to root or other options?

I currently have T-Mobile and want to get the new unlimited 4G data without the throttling and I want to get a tether app installed. A couple I'm familiar with are SVTP in the market which worked on my Nexus but doesn't on my One S and wi-fi tether for root but I'm currently not rooted. Any suggestions or items I should look for? Any success others have had out there with this? Give me some advice please.
Thanks,
Ignitros

I had success with paying the $15 for wifi tether access and using the stock wifi tether app that came with the phone.

If you put a EU rom, you get it for free.

I'm already doing that now. I would prefer to not be throttled within 5 days of the month though so when the fully unlimited/ unthrottled plan comes out I want that but they don't offer the tethering option with it. Hence why I'm looking for other solutions.
Thanks anyway.... Anyone else have some ideas or directions to point me in?

That's good to know. I'm running stock rooted EU 2.21. Next month I will not re-up my $15/month tethering plan!
Does the stock wifi tethering app work, or do I have to install a specific one from the market?
Install foxfi for stock unrooted. Should work with root as well.

The stock wifi tethering app will not work if you don't have the tethering plan.
Look for an app call FoxFi, free and work great. Haven't been throttle yet(knocking on wood).

I downloaded and installed the FoxFi app and it seems to work well. I did notice that it seems to drop out once in awhile. Anyone else see that happen where the connection just drops off between the phone and computer?

No, just on Torxx Tmobile USA ROM for now. I might give the EU ROM a try next time.

The problem has to do when the HOS goes to sleep, it shut if WiFi or something like that. Unlike other device that have option to keep WiFi on I dont' think HOS can do that. At least I couldn't figure out how to.

That's a known issue that many experience on all HTC One series phones. Ridiculously annoying that they haven't fixed it.
