I have been switching roms lately and am currently on MIUI. I noticed the Wireless Tether app is not included and when I search the market it says that it isn't available on my carrier (VZ). Can someone post the Wireless Tether app apk?

i think wireless tether was pulled from the market but if youre on MIUI GB than you already have wireless tethering because gingerbread comes with that feature pre installed it should be somewere in the sttings and its free.
If it isn't there, you can get it here:http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
Wow thanks guys.
I see the wifi portable hotspot is there in the menus on MIUI. It would just be easier to have an app in my app folder instead of digging.
Is the FM radio apk on there somewhere? Im searching as we speak.

You can d/l one of the stock Roms and pull the apk out of it.
I took it out of CM7 and it just force closes. Oh well.
Did you try fix permissions?

No I did not. I will give it a shot.

Any ideas what it does? It runs as a service com.htc.tetheringguard
Just installed the OTA update and noticed this. If you stop the service it doesnt reload unless you open the mobile hotspot app. Think the free hotspot block can be removed by removing the service? That seems way too easy...

It certainly does seem too easy. Brilliant solution if it works though.
Easy test, turn it off, try to use another tethering app.
I am debating between doing and not doing the update because I like the free WiFi hotspot; I can be cheap
Can someone with the update try it?
I tried freezing it with titanium backup Pro, but it just rendered the mobile hotspot inoperable.

If you're already rooted you might as well just use the wireless tether app, or the one built into cm7.

4G as long as you have 4G available. If you use this version, make sure you select the option in settings for HTC related to the LAN.

I had stumbled across a post stating that you can remove the file Tetheringmanager 1.03.26 you can tether on the Infuse. I decided to try it out but instead of removing, I froze it. It worked flawlessly. Only problem is that I'm scared AT&T is going to see it that way haha. I've been tethering using Wifi Tether and it work great but I ran into a few issues, but that's another thread lol. I guess what I'm trying to see is if there is anything bad about freezing the app.
Thanks
Tommy

Basically every alternate ROM (Bionix, Infused 1.x, Refuse) removed this APK. No problems at all.
Ok so when I was tethering on my Inspire via the Leedroid rom it did this also?

No clue how the Inspire works in regards to tethering.
I know that native Android tethering works great without any bigbrotherware on all of the non-stock ROMs available for it.
Well, wifi tethering at least - for USB tethering, there's a bunch of flaky crap in the Samsung kernels because of Samsung's stupid NIH (Not Invented Here) attitude.
Ok cool so if I freeze that file I'm good to go with the native tethering?

I just updated over the air. Noticed that my phone performs better and more stable but I can't turn on the mobile hotspot even using third-party apps available. Elixir used to work for me just fine. Can anyone give help on this? Thanks.
unfortunately i think they somehow disabled the feature for 3rd party apps.

the newest wifi tether works fine for me on EP4D. Any crap verizon pulled doesn't seem to affect rooted users.

Will the newest version like you activate and deactivate tether multiple times or do you need to reboot between tether sessions?
Wifi Tether pre-12 let's you do it, but none of the newer versions did.

Forum to discuss the different roms available for the Xoom since we have more than one now.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned was support for adhoc phone to tablet tethering. I'm using the Eos rom, is there something I can do to make it work or does tthis require drivers that are currently unavailable?
Thanks in advance!

The Honeycomb Tiamat build has ad-hoc support built in. It basically involves modifying the wpa_supplicant. I didn't test it on build 6 and haven't flashed build 8 yet so I am not sure if they have modified this yet. I am sure they will eventually if they have not yet.
Regarding Zone-ICS-12.19.11-v2.1 and exchange
Howdy,
Just flashed this after wiping Dalvoc an Cache, all apps still available, as expected no cam. or 3g/4g. Question is does anybody have exchange calendar available? Syncs to gmail calendar, exchange contacts and mail sync up, but exchange calendar doesn't show in lost of available calendars. Just wondering if it' a common thing and if there is a fix yet.
Otherwise I'm going to keep running it. Calendar isn't a deal breaker for me and once a cam and mobile data works this will totally kick butt. Thanks Mike for a super build.
Post 3=7 more to fo for the dev forums..... WooHoo
Will we see the camera and mic working soon?

My phone is a bit old (motorolla cliq), but I have tried with the wifi tether included with my rom/kernel by adlxmod and also with barnacle. Both of these worked with tiamat/morray I had previously on my Xoom. I really like the ICS builds by EOS, and if my tether would work I will never return to HC!

Now that Bluetooth works I can tether using wifi tether without the need for adhoc functionality. Very happy.

Thx for short feedback!
Does anyone know if the 1000 track playlist limit in Music/Honeycomb has been fixed? I know Gingerbread doesn't have the limitation, hoping they have fixed it in ICS.

With just root can we use the wifi tether apk on the verizon SG3? If so, are there any special things that need done to make it work?
yeap, you should be able to. you just need to enable unknown sources under settings/security

I just posted in the General form about this. My recommendation is to use a 3rd party app such as Wifi Widget, that will turn on the built in wifi tethering app without checking for account status. Verizon might change this in the future but it is work much better for me than 3rd party wifi tether apps.
Has anyone seen a way to enable tethering via Bluetooth (bypassing the check for subscription)?
When I'm out and about I like to have my tablet connected to my phone over bluetooth. However, with my new S3 it asks me to subscribe to a tethering plan when I try checking the box to share my phones internet connection over bluetooth.
I'm stock, rooted and on a Verizon capped data plan (not the share everything plan)
Anyone?

bond32, thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I don't really like the Fattin widgets icon. Tethering Widget also seems to work and I like it's 1x1 icon better. I had forgotten that I was using it on my Samsung Fascinate running CM10 while my SGS3 was getting fixed.
