hi,
I am looking for a smartphone to use as a cheap device for navigation and VoIP while travelling. Polaris seems to be a good candidate, but what worries me is that skype is planning to shut down for WM after end of 2010. Is it possible to install skype to polaris booted to android to make cheap calls through WiFi?

I like Toshiba Protege 900 with Sip client integrated and Windows Mobile 6
I need test now..
has anyone got 3 (UK) to work properly on a windows mobile device/pocket pc?
(MMS don't matter - but internet does)
my tytn/hermes is broken (screen) and not worth repairing so i can't test/try.
been using a K850i since.
I want to buy the HTC Touch Diamond next month (sim-free) and have year left in my 3 contract.
if anyone could share their experiences with 3 on windows mobile i'd be grateful.
I'm using 3 on my Atom Life. Works really well, make sure to use this cab to load your settings if the device doesn't already have them built in.
thanks, there are a few cabs around but people i asked couldn't use 3.
I've not had any problems using an HTC Trinity on 3UK.
It's worked with WM5, WM6 and 6.1.
No problem with internet access or MMS.
Just don't seem to be able to get at all of 3's interactive services from WM phone. (ie video weather etc), but when you've got internet access it doesn't really matter.
Today, while cleaning out the desk of some ex-colleagues we stumbled upon an old Toshiba e750. It is loaded with WinMo 2003. I know these devices are prolly almost extinct now, but i am wondering if its possible to load WinMo 6.1 on this device? Sure it wouldnt be a ROM with calling and everything but i am curious as to this devices capabilities and maybe i could use it for some lightweight work such as internet and calendar. Any Input is welcomed.

I have tried many many smartphones (HTC S710, Samsung SHG-i600, Samsung OmniaPro B7320, Asus M930, HP Ipaq Voice Messenger NEW) but none except XDA Graphite supports 2 way call recording and very clear on bluetooth too. Can someone please point me to the right device whcih supports 2 way without puttingit on speaker and has Wi-Fi, GPS.
Thank You
Raphael (which is a PPC not a smartphone) works with SOME roms. There is a thread somewhere about it here.
If I would haven't bought my Touch PRO so fast then that would surely have been one of the requirements.
I'm currently using the MSD series 6.5.1.7 ROM with SPB Mobile Shell v3 and it's a really nice combination. However recently, New Zealand has past a new law that does not allow you drive and hold a mobile phone at the same time. This means I need to use my blue tooth headset again and do voice dialing. I have looked on the net for a voice dialing app that will work on WM6.5 and it seems that there is only "TellMe" from Microsoft and it is not for our iMate K-JAM/Wizard phones.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
I have been using Microsoft Voice Command V. 1.6 for a number of years on my Wizard with all recent versions of Windows Mobile. I have a recent version of 6.5 and it works just fine. once you install VC map it to button 4 and the bluetooth device will activate it when you push the button on your BT device. You can download VC 1.6 from various sources, but know that it is not a freeware program

Thanks for the heads up - I tried it on the MSD series 6.5.1.7 but was not able to get it to work for me. I'll give it another go.
