New to this forum and new to the wonderful world of Windows Mobile.
Coming from a palm-world where most things just tend to work, this has been somewhat of a reminder of the early Windows desktop days.
I'm having some issues (One of these issues made me choose this forum, if this was in error, I apologize in advance).
1. Active sync worked once, but never again.
It seems the mp3-files I added (251 of them), makes active sync just time-out in the media stage. I have not found a way to remove media from active sync either to confirm this. I cannot access settings since it times out with the sync. Edit: The media-row in the active-sync window also states that the installation has to be completed first. Which it already has.
2. Media player does not add files to library.
I do the file-search and it finds 251 files on the SD-card, makes a slight paus and finds 4 more files. Then it adds only those 4 files. accessing the storage card in the library and my music only produces an unexpected error. I have not tried to empty and reformat, or a lower file-count just yet. But to me this seems like a bug that not only scans the storage-card but also the device and then only adds what's on the device. What is added is 4 ring-tones.
3. A2DP...
Well, I read the instructions on the two threads dedicated to this, but it does me no good since I find no files in either of them. I am willing to host those files for you if needed by the way. I really want A2DP since I already got the Jabra BT-620s.
4. Not a real important one but, overclocking.
I ran the OMAP_TI_Overclock thingie, but absolutely nothing changes. Still 195 Mhz whatever I do. I find people have fall-backs in a few minutes or after reset, but this is immediate. The utility says it sets the clock and that the current clock has changed, but as soon as I go to the system-info it says 195. And starting the utility again it says it set as 180 (which according to the system obviously equals 195 ).
These are the current obstacles to overcome before I turn to media-control from the headset, and other more daily handling stuff that obviously already works fine (Voice-control, and contacts and stuff)
There was something more, but I forgot. I'll return to that. Now I'm off to the golf course hoping for some good advice to start pouring in...

1. Buy a card-reader. They're cheap and save your nerves as AS 4.1 is EXTREMELY unstable comparing to 3.8 one

4. In the ABOUT info you'kk never see the change as it's not a monitor of CPU but the info contained like plain TXT. as for the program use action-set clock - and then action-exit. If you do load it before you turn Prophet off you'll see the clock is still in there

Yes, I have several. More than I have computers actually, which is a lot!
Not that more helps in this case. I got my S200 Yesterday so I am really only starting out to get things going. This is just my initial small problems. I just find it frustrating that I cannot change what will be synced with Active sync until a sync is successfully completed, which is never. So We'll see how I solve that one...

1. I just mean uploading thru AS WAS ALWAYS laggy and still is unles you do upload small files.

Ok, I got A2DP working now, Great, and thanks. I didn't realize the files only were visible while logged in , yup real newbie-alert .
And I installed Resco Explorer to do things more easily.
What remains is the problem with my Media library.
I cannot fathom what's going on. It's like this. I have 221 files on the storage card, and the system has 4 on the device itself. It scans both and lists 225 as found, then it takes a good 3 minutes adding files. Then it reports 4 files added. And only the library on my device shows anything (The four ringtones) trying to access the storage card library only results in an error.
Still, I can just click any of the files in the explorer and it plays perfectly (now in glorious wireless stereo!)... So there's nothing wrong with the card and the files. It's just the Library update thingy that fails me.

I solved the Media Library thing.
I started deleting albums and doing new updates, but still no luck even down to one single MP3. So then I remembered something someone said in a thread somewhere about the MSMETADATA folder containing the library, so I simply removed it from the storage card and updated the library again. Voila! Now it works!
From now on I will only add a smaller number of files at a time, doing new library updates...
So now it's only the Active Sync problem remaining.
I just can't get it to work anymore. I tried reinstalling it late yesterday, but no luck...

Ok now I am about smart enough to turn my gtab on so lets start with no pretenses.
I bought the gtab because I used to use my blackberry storm as a mass storage/emailing device that my clients and customers could send me files I would use docs to go on them and then send them back out. When I was at my computer not wanting 2 sets of files I would use the bb as my mass storage seems simple worked great. Well the it department of my company took over the phone service and shut off the mass storage along in internet and well its a brick now that gets email and dials hone numbers.
I bout the gtab because I wanted to get there again. I plug the gtab in and i can see the 16gb of internal storage and can access it BUT the micro sd I can not. I know this is long winded but can anyone help me? I know I read these things and I just dont get it you say just use vegan well to me I like meet is all i can say I just do not know what your talking about! I am reading that I should "root" it? but it works for me (minus this) with out worrying about crashing and putting new patches on and this and that I tried it with a blackjack and a fuse from At&t I do not have the time i used to have when I was writing batch files in dos! The tech train has passed me by.

Yes I took the 16gb out of the bb and put it into the gtab. i can open all my files on the tab using the file explorer thing i figured out how to find the folder rather then it being a "drive"

I think you were originally asking if you'd be able to see the external microsd card from your pc over usb? I think you can't at least not w stock TNT, not yet. I'm not sure if any of the other ROMs do either.
As an alternative, ESFileExplorer can see Windows and smb/samba shares over network, so you can move files to/from /sdcard2 that way.

Thanks Jim that is what i was asking...while i dont understand alot of what you said i think the gist is that i would have to use my computer to store the files and then send them to the gtab from the computer not be able to use the gtab as a thumbdrive with the bonus of emailing...i hope that someone will figure this out soon! I want to buy the case with a keyboard and dump the laptop traveling every week it would be great to only carry my gtab! then plug into any computer hotel/client/contractor any and have a full comp if i need it.

No. What I was suggesting is kind of the reverse of what you said.
Try this:
- on a windows machine share one of the drives
- on gtab, start es file explorer
- on upper right, press local button, and select LAN
- you get empty page
- press menu
- press New--> Server
- enter hostname or ip, etc
-after that press on icon for server
You would see the drive you shared earlier. Now you can move files from you gtab to the shared drive or from the shared drive to you gtab, but you have to do it by operating the gtab.

Thanks again Jim but it seems with this method I would have to send the file to my comp open it with say word or excel and edit it and send it back to Gtab. I will eventually screw this up lol. AND I still have to carry my laptop or netbook. what about putting a thumbdrive on the gtab would that work? I dont even have one to try tonight. I would then I guess be able to use that on all computers would I be able to get a file from my webmail sever and download it direct to the thumbdrive? I really appreciate the help here.

Yes, flash or even USB harddrives work, but only FAT32, and have to be only 1 partition (think).
It'll show up as /usbdisk on gtab.

I dont have market because i havent "rooted" it i think thats what i would have to do BUT i do have docs to go from datav so I can edit them.
Currently when connected to your PC, you can only access the internal storage. The G Tab has 16gb of internal storage, why not use that for storage? If you want to put it into your microsd you could always use USB microsd card adapter. Current software does not mount the microsd but hopefully this can be fixed in a software update.
You can always transfer from internal storage to microsd from within the tablet also using ES File Explorer.

And sometimes we miss the forest for the trees....I dont know how I missed that lol.
However does this effect performance at all if say I fill up 14gb with documents and scans?
My /Removable/MicroSD is starting to corrupt. I've been editing scripts on my MicroSD with ES note editor. It started today with files not overwriting other files with the same name, then progressed into edited files saved with corrupt or no data at all, then a few files disappeared, then a directory became corrupt and I could not see a file that ES told me I was overwriting with another file with the same name, and now I am loosing full directories. Is this a partition issue or is the whole card going/gone bad? The card is as factory shipped. I have never formatted or partitioned it.
I have unmounted and remounted the card. That allowed me to edit and save for a few hours. Then another corrupted file happened. I just took the card out and reinserted it as this fixed a similar problem I had a while ago but it only happened once and went away until now, so we'll see if it just wasn't seated properly. One of the 2 directories that disappeared came back after reinserting the card but the second is still missing. I had already backed up my scripts, and now I will back up the entire card to disk.
Does this sound like its going or gone South, or will pulling all the data off, formatting the card, and putting it all back on work to fix it? Is it safe to trust this card anymore or should I RMA it as it should still be under warranty? Its a Sandisk 64 SDXC and not "officially" compatible and was wondering about that as well. I've had it for about 6 mos. I had hoped by spending the little extra $ and picking a name brand it would be more reliable but I guess I got a bad one despite the on-average Sandisk quality. Any advice would be appreciated.
So far, I've only once suspected my microSD (as in yoru case a 64 GB Sandisk UHS-1 Class card) to have gone bad. (Re)formatted it with Gparted (was running data2sd at the time, kicked that out, too) and it has been going strong since without a single hitch.
I'd try and format it, doesn't hurt, only takes time, and it satisfies your tinkering needs at the same time.

Thanks for the reply. What is interesting and seems far-fetched to be coincidental is the corrupted directories are the directories that I am constantly editing and saving files to - My scripts dir and its sub-directories. Guess they mean it when they say flash was not designed to be constantly written to. I can't *believe* I have cycled it to its limit just editing scripts over a 6 mos span. I couldn't have saved files more than a couple thousand times if that.

Double directories? This is getting out of hand!
Well I am backing up my MicroSD now, and I just ran across two directories with the same name in the same folder? Two "Scripts". How is this possible? One had files, the other was blank? How can the OS allow this to happen? When it copied to Windows, a (1) was appended to the directory name of the second duplicate.
Just for S&G, I tried to copy a file from one into the other and Windows errored saying something like "device is busy or has been disconnected."
If I had files in both directories and I cd to that directory, which one would I get (trick question)? I believe the dups are only on Windows. I don't think the device actually sees both directories. At least it doesn't show them to me in ES. Bizarre corruption. That surely might explain why files in this directory were getting corrupted. Or maybe the corruption of the files was responsible for the double directories. Time for a format (and a beer) for sure.
Let this be a word to the wise:
So yes I am going to format this, but I wanted to play with this problem a bit and see what I could figure out. As I predicted, and made about my 5th backup just in case, here's what just happened.
1. When there were Script dir duplicates, I could copy from the one with files.
2. I deleted the one without files (predicting it may delete both, but it only deleted the blank one as intended but...)
3. The remaining Script dir could not be copied from, nor a new sub-directory created inside. File names could not be changed. Actually it did allow me to make a copy, but the target directory was blank.
4. Deleted the second Script directory. Now the B2R script is lost forever (no just kidding, I have 5 backups at least)
5. Copied one of my backup copies of Scripts back to the card
6. Now its fine (until I can format it), I can copy from it and create sub-dirs inside it, etc. But I will be working off another copy in Internal storage until I format this card.
7. So the lesson here is ALWAYS make a backup before something glitches out on you because it eventually will and you will need it, or choose to be SOL; life is full of choices. And if it has already glitched out on you, make a second backup of your critical files just in case something like this happens to you and you've made incremental changes. Without my backups I would be loosing about 3 months work in just this one folder alone. It contains every script I have ever written and a bunch of example scripts to learn from.
@_that to comment, but this is what I think happened: This must be some kind of corrupt FAT problem. Very similar to the recovery blob not being found by the bootloader issue from a recent post, but instead of a partition problem its a file allocation table problem, as they reside on the same partition in my case, quote _that below:
"I have a new theory about why this happens: partition tables mismatch. In other words: The location where the recovery writes the blob is not the same as where the bootloader expects it. Thus the bootloader ignores your blob."
It seems the empty directory was the directory the system thought the files were in. Once that directory was removed, the actual one (as the human perceives; as seen in ES) containing files no longer contained them, as far as the OS was concerned. So by deleting the one you effectively deleted the other because its impossible that can can coexist and both be functional. I thought something like this would happen and it did. Like I said earlier, its Miller time.

Probably. ExFAT is a proprietary and patented Microsoft filesystem, and support for it in our TF700 is through a proprietary closed-source third-party kernel module that contains this licensed "technology".
You could try running chkdsk in Windows on the card to detect and fix filesystem errors.

Funny how they don't even support exFAT in XP without an extension. Maybe it was developed after XP was released. I would assume it is supported by default in W7 and above?
Question: Do you know what is the su password for the terminal app in GParted Live? Or is this limited to GNU staff use??
Do I "sudo gparted" or "sudo passwd root" and set a new password??

GParted live is based on Debian live, and the default account is "user", with password "live". There is no root password, so if you need root privileges, login as "user", then run "sudo" to get root privileges.

Looks like my windows\system32 dir has a 2004 date on it. So just before it came out. Nice they have a patch now.

That's a live distro for partitioning stuff, not for supporting all kinds of exotic hardware. Most likely it doesn't even have any bluetooth stack. Use a full desktop distribution like Mint if you want support for bluetooth input devices.

Ok, here's my problem. I need to make a bootable CD (not DVD). The iso for Mint 15 Cinnamon is 923MB. It won't fit on a 700MB CD, and my PC can't boot off DVD or USB. Any suggestions besides having to partition a HDD to install a dual-boot configuration which I don't want to have to do just to run Linux once in a while. I would like a Live CD instead. Reduced size minimal distro somewhere to be found?
Ok, found one here for Linux Mint 13 Maya. Hope its not someone's hack. But I think its a better option than Plop. I don't want to start hacking my Windows PC all up just to get Linux. If its any more hassle than burning a CD I'll just use GParted with a corded mouse.
Only 7 available seeds for this torrent, and only 1 is up now. Popular item! (ha). Had it going with 4 but I was hogging too much bandwidth and had to pause fpr a bit then restart. When it restarted, looks like 3 of my seeds blew away in the wind. Looks like tomorrow then...I was hoping to burn the iso and play with it tonight. Oh wait, just got another 1 back. You have a strange PC. Or no DVD drive?
All PCs that I know (that have been produced in this millennium) can boot from DVD or USB with correct BIOS setting and a correctly formatted bootable medium.

Yes I know. I'm cheap and old school with PCs, what can I say. The rest of my devices are current offering. I haven't bought a new PC for over 10 years. Its an older "failed" CAD station that was slated for the dumpster about 3 years ago, then being about 3-4 years old, because our admin was too lazy to test for a simple problem - a failed RAM SIMM. I resurrected it, replaced the failed 512 SIMM and added two more, added a scavenged drive (now 3), and now its my home $100 desktop (replacing the free Pentium I had but was too slow to use). It already had the Quadro FX 3800 video card with a dual core Xeon CPU @ 3.33 GHz. But no DVD drive, only CD drive. BIOS does not support boot from USB either.
Its faster than my old work Dell Precision 690 before I got my new 6-core Xeon T3500. So those were my limitations to work with. And I think I found the best possible solution with Mint 13 Maya iso CD. Looks like Mint 15 just was released. Beautiful OS by the way, I checked out some uTube on it last night. Can't wait to test drive it. Might even make an MS defector out of me. Linux seems to run well on older hardware with slower CPUs vs Windows on the same hardware, so I'm hoping it can breath new life into this semi-archaic box I call my desktop. Now you see why I'm on the tablet so much.

You were right again. It is a DVD drive. In XP Pro SP2 it was just a CD but after installing SP3 it shows up now as a DVD/CD. Getting Mint 15 32 bit now instead. The DVD drive bay load door is scratched and faded, so I couldn't tell just by looking at it, and was going off what Windows device manager was showing in its tree. I did initially pop a DVD in and it couldn't read it which further substantiated that it was a CD and I never questioned it. Turns out the DVD I tested it with was a DL, and this is only a SL DVD drive. Now I have a 1.7GB limitation, not 700MB which opens up most iso options. But I still have no boot from USB option in my BIOS. I'll look to see if there's an updated BIOS available to open up that option. It would be very nice to have a few thumb drives with different Linux distros to test drive, and a puppy Linux on my key chain.

Coming to you live from Linux Mint 15 Mate. I guess when running this off a live CD, there is no way to copy a file to /etc is there? I opened it as administrator, and it still wouldn't let me copy the file because this directory is on the CD, not the HDD, correct? I was trying to get my Synergy connected between my MS PC and my other PC running live Linux so I can share my mouse and keyboard seamlessly without my KVM switch. I'm impressed with how easy this is to setup. Also with your ability to see me as a Windows transitional user, and point me to Mint and not Ubuntu. I like it.

I don't know about the live environment - it's normally only used to install the OS to a real hard drive. I find it still strange that your PC doesn't support booting from USB. Maybe that's a sign that you really should install Linux on a HDD.

Yes, this is my work environment now. I have two Dell Precisions, one a 690 and the other a T3500. You got it, two monitors, 1 kb, 1 mouse. Downloading and installing Wine now. I am interested to see if I can run Solidworks on Linux thru Wine. Wow, Linux had come a long way. "sudo apt-get install synergy". All the terminal commands I learned for Android are very useful now, thanks!

Video is not bad at all, despite all I've read. They really must have clean it up for 15. Picture is good, sound is good, seeking is a bit slow, and my biggest complaint is there is no stretch or zoom to fill the entire screen. You have to select from predefined aspect ratios and get as close as you can. Android has better tools in this area than Mint, or maybe it more closely matches a standard aspect ratio like 16:9 for 1920 x 1200 is close (1.77 vs 1.6). Ok, _that's it for the day. Got to get some real work done here now.
Regarding the live environment, its used all the time to test drive different Linux distros before deciding which one to finally install. That's the beauty of a free open OS and a 50 cent DVD and its advantage over a flash card in this case, if you wanted to test 3-5 different ones (back and forth, not sequentially) before deciding on *the one* to finally install to HDD.

I have no idea what you are talking about. There are lots of media players to choose from, and all that I know have a fullscreen mode.

What I mean is by toggling full screen in Mint, its less than full screen because the movie aspect ratio of its recorded resolution is preserved in the scaling function. So there are still black bands either high/low or left/right if you don't play with the player aspect ratio (4:3 vs 16:9) to best match that of your movie in the distros fullscreen mode with the stock player. Which ever limits to extents first in the scaling horiz or vertical DPI defines the "fullscreen" size you get which is less than a full screen. A zoom function does not but a stretch function does override the recorded aspect ratio to fill the full screen (I'm talking about TV's and Dice/BS/MX Player features now, not what's in the Linux default distro player) so with stretch you can get a distorted picture (disproportionate scaling) but not with zoom. These are not included in the stock distro player.

I am using mplayer for video playback - I don't know if that is still included in end-user-focused distros like Mint, but it's one of the most powerful video players that exist. Mplayer has no GUI at all (everything is controlled via the keyboard) - and the "f" key toggles between fullscreen and window.
i've returned 2 note pro's thinking they were defective and realising now that the issue of rebooting was due to a corrupted file in my system, i have identified it is one of my comics files i had stored years ago on cd disc, the problem is there are like 1000 comics i can't check each one individually.. does anyone know of an app or a way to scan the tablet to find the rogue corrupt file?
originally when it caused the reboot the comics were stored on my sd card, the second time stored in the device storage and third time in device storage again.. apart from checking one by one is there a short cut way that will tell me which file is damaged?
i know years ago i remember encountering one of the comics would not open that was the corrupt file however i cannot remember which one it was it was years ago i last checked.
A simple corrupted non system file shouldn't be causing the issue. However a simple look at file sizes may point to an issue, it may be more related to filename structure if very long or has non standard naming conventions not used in Unix.
If you have the files on cd and are moving over just move a portion over at a time to narrow the problem down.

Connect it to a computer and let explorer search for 0kb files. Ignore the .nomedia and playlist files.
Any mediafiles that show up as 0kb are corrupt.

Thanks maybe it is a file name issue. Im definitely sure it's the comics as all 3 have rebooted constantly because of iti just cant figure out wht it is. Is a filename which is too long likely to cause reboot?
i know it's not a software or firmware issue per se but i can't figure it out what's causing the reboot. Whenevr i play videos and lock the screen it reboots but it's only after i transferred the comics over

Only alphabet, numbers, underscores and dashes should be used, spaces are not great(depends on what you are doing). basically nothing else should be used(there are exceptions depending on Unix version but this is Linux) or Linux will hate the naming convention. Dots are fine also.
Did you load a comic app to read these or are they just. Jpg or similiar?

I have about 80.000 pdf's and comics in one folder. ALL have spaces in the name.
Comics are usually in cbr, cbz (both are .zip variants) or pdf format. Can you honestly imagine having to load every single page in jpg? Lol.
Exclude the folder from mediascanner by dropping a .nomedia file in it, and scan the thing with Windows Explorer or Apple Finder for 0kb files. (regular search, in english the string is size:empty ) That should be more than sufficient.

Being unfamilar with how comics are stored is why I asked...
Spaces can be problematic based on operating system and interface, Unix nor Linux like them so I avoid at all costs. Just because an app allows you to read them doesn't mean it cannot be an issue.
Unix interpretes a space as space between commands when using command line, since OP problem may be when files are being read outside shot a weird combo is actually causing an issue.
When switching between Windows, Unix, VMS worlds and having them all need to read all files properly either from web servers being hosted on them or from applications being run locally, spaces are one of the biggest issues. That and forward and back slashes.

they are scanned comics from the 90s i had the stored for about 10years theyre .cbr files optimised for reading in comic apps like perfect viewer.
do you have any idea what is causing the reboot? ive removed the files now no more reboot..very frustrating.
f sake it seems the reboot is back despite removing all the comics...not as much as before only once since this morning howeve it is back..it didnt happen once when i got the tablet till up till putting the comics in..however i havent really been using the tablet since then watching videos or doing anything intensive tbh so it's hard to say the cause..do you think it's definitely a rogue app or firmware issue rather than hardware?
this is the 3rd tablet i have had the first one kept rebooting all the time..i updated to the latest firmware and disabled all the apps i could that i dont use.. on my replacement i kept it as simple as possible i kept the original firmware but did not disable any apps let it run as normal as possible but did add the comics in..in the morning it rebooted.. so i returned it. now this one is the third time and it's so annnoying i have to think that if ALL 3 are rebooting it cant be a hardware issue right? i cant be that unlucky that all 3 have hardware issues so surely it must be right to assume it is all firmware related etc?

If you removed offending app and comics completely and dalvik cache was wiped it eliminates that..
F sake i did a factory reset yet it is still rebooting it seems to be after ram intensive stuff this cant be right? It can't be hardware because all 3 have done it i just can't figure out what's causing it it has 3gb ram nd power saving is off why does it keep rebooting?
I think maybe the sd card may have some things in it from the comics but i removed the sd card and it still randomly reboots could my contacts crashing be the reason? I disabled contacts and contacts storage as i do not need itif idont it keeps bri gingup the warning unfortunately contacts has stopped.

im not rooted so cant do dalvik wipe. Wht on earth could be causing it?
like i said ithas been fine since i got it before i put the comics in i removed the comics factory reset and it keeps rebooting still what the hell i honestly can't figure this out all 3 did the same thing im about to give up
I'm not sure what you are doing after a factory reset but what I would do is remove any SD card and do a factory reset again. I would not allow restoration of any other software (when you get to the portion of setup where it asks if you want to automatically backup and restore day no) and I would simply run the device bare bones for a day or two without installing anything to rule out any application that I might be installing.

ok so i rebooted a 2nd time (jeez im getting fed up of this) and did not load the sd card just incase i also decided to set up a brand new gmail account so that it does not sync my contacts from the other google account in case that was the issue.
so far so good. i also formatted the sd card did not transfer the comics over and all is good.. now i do not know whether it is indeed the comics or whether it's because of my contacts storage on the other google account i originally used.. and i dont really want to test it to find out..originally when i used the previous google account and did not add any comics it did not reboot once.. so what's weird is after the first factory reset where i did not format the sd card as soon as i left it in the sd slot it casued the reboot later no matter what i did.. how the hell is this thing so sensitive that it reboots just by having the sd card in..its like there's a file in there that as soon as u put the sd card in it causes a reboot.. remeber i removed all the comics from the sd card previously and the device and it kept rebooting inexplicably..
so right now i can't figure out if it's the fact i formatted the sd card and factory resetted it or whether it's because i use a new google account?
do any of you guys know how or why something as innocuous as comic books or remnants of it in the sd card is causing a reboot?
Given that the best way to troubleshoot technical issues is to approach things in a logical fashion it's important to isolate things one at a time. You can either do that by removing one thing at a time OR by starting fresh and adding things one at a time.
Just to explain my previous post . . . if someone asks the question at times like this whether or not it's a hardware issue the first thing I jump to is to yank the SD card, factory reset (personally I prefer a full wipe to stock using Kies and a factory image file) and then to NOT install anything on the device . . that right there is fresh out of the box experience with no external influences other than any updates to preinstalled applications. If a person has the same issues with that then there's likely a hardware issue. Sometimes I see people assuming that they're not installing software after initial setup when in fact they are when they opt into Google's automatic backup/restore feature during lyncing to their Gmail account during setup. Its rare but it happens and at that point they're not evaluating a stock out of box experience, obviously.
Back to your last post . . its possible that your SD card has a bad sector on it and the act of formatting it simply erased files that would otherwise be scanned by media server/index services which was causing the reboot. One way to rule that out would be to use a computer and try to do memory testing of the card.
It can be difficult to narrow these issues down, as said I would run bone stock with no sdcard for a few days not even adding a Google account or any updates and see what happens. Google updates have caused me a few issues on other devices when updating an app and needed reinstalled even to clean things up is why i suggested no updating anything. The system is not going to scan the sdcard or use data off it unless called upon to do so. Adding sdcard and if a problem still switch to another even.
Recently a friend had a card that would only read certain movie files and then if reloaded onto card wouldn't read it then. Card was found to be bad(well it works for some files anyways) didn't show bad sectors either.

well guys the tablet hasn't rebooted since meaning it must have been something in the comics which as soon as you add it to sd card or device storage and even if you remove all it's contents still leaves a lasting effect unless i format the sd card and factory reset.. i hate factory reseting it's such hassle going one by one spending days trying bit by bit when it really should just work out of the box with no problem.. however this prob isnt a samsung fault it's a rogue file or something in my comics folder which i cant figure out what it is?
do you know anyway i can scan the comics folder which is now on my laptop so i can fix it for any errors?
i bought this tablet specifically for reading comics and now i can't haha otherwise it'll reboot like crazy.. yes i know it's not the tablets fault it's my comics fold3er of scans where i cant identify the thing which is casuing conflict.. would checkdisk work?
im just fed up because i returned my original black wasted loads of petrol going round tryna find the same colour elsewhere ended up with white returned that and had to travel other part of town for the last black one and in process it's ended up costing me an extra 15 pounds total to get it as i lost the cashback i got buying the original and returning it plus the petrol plus also by returning i lost a goodwill refund.
anyway on plus side this one has less backlight bleed so pleased with that however the screen flickering issue concerned me which the other 2 did not have.. i've updated the firmware so no more flickering during video playback however i dont use high brightness so hard to say.. i do see random flickers from time to time but i think it may be slight glitches so bit paranoid.
anyway what is the best way to scan my comics folder in windows to identify bad sectors or anything corrupt that would cause the note pro to reboot?
i dont want to put comics back on or even read from a separate sd card as the evidence shows it'll reboot again unless i get to the root cause.

Y may be aware of this issue, and change since the migration to android 11. To help illustrate to you I recently, thru google takeout, downloaded my 45+gb gp music library, all to which it's destiny was sd card storage (as chosen thru my Chrome Browser settings). After all files were unzipped and transferred , the available storage space on my sd card hadn't charged! So yes, my sd card is OK too, as affirmation to one of the replies I received earlier stating since gaining Android 11 rhey hadn't seen any changes. And by ok, you nust mean the sd card doesn't unmount itself at will, or randomly throw-up an error msg like, "sd file corruption detected," just for giggles!
As stated earlier, only a handful of folks I know over on discord's SamCentral are aware of this change, so there's been little discussion of file allocation tables & tweaks, i.e., formatting FAT 32(or that's the current default)idk...this isn't my field but imo, I think they're saying currently everything is being shifted to external stg. '0' which is the common ground for all or most of Android O/S's, thus "arming" their decision with the "no purchase necessary" routine. Fact is, most folks don't require more than half-a-gig or more of on-board mobile device storage. "The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few, or the one."(RIP Mr. Spock, Leonard Nimoy). So,, if this smells like a patch of sorts to you, why haven't we heard anything, and when can some of us expect to get our money's worth for our sd card purchase(mine, 256gb = $100, in Spring of '19). Some of the "fake-news" spreaders over there(lol) are saying the most recent samsung shifts to Microsoft based apps/services & cross-syncing is the root of the cause, and they're probably getting closer to plotting a solution now that the big hill has been championed(ref. to And. 11 + One UI 3.0-no project completion)! I miss the functionality of not being able to use an interface I paid for!
(If any of this I've shared here fact-cks.out to be valid, and I become a hero of sorts, does this mean I may gain some of that XDA "street-cred" and snag a couple of likes)?!

I updated to 11 and UI 3.0 about a week ago and not having any issues with my sdcard. Only problem I have is that my battery usage as more than doubled even after a FDR.

What exactly is the issue here? Not formatted? Can't see specific data? I went through the whole beta and now on release and my SD card is "exactly" the same as before with the exception that some apps can't see other apps' directories which is a "feature" from Google.

The real obvious missing link to me was, for instance, when I'm signed in and surfin on my browser(Chrome, Samsung Internet, etc) and I save/download a file, it doesn't actually get saved on the physical sd card like it did before, rather, the o/s leaves the file in a limbo state of sorts, with whatever browser app!? I got my n20u1_5G back in 9/20, so while on Q if I saved, d/led a file i.e., using Chrome, I would go thru my Files then sd, then Android, then data, then find chrome(com.google.shrome), and there she is!
But, since beta school, whilst on 11, I do my Lil routine(as b-4), and when I goto Android then data, there's nothing, no app files(google or Samsung, as there were b-4)!? I hope I'm explaining the deal well enough here, as I couldn't be alone with this issue! Anyone using a stg card knows what I'm saying that isn't to be seen anymore! I'm using the same 250gb (high-end) Samsung card as b4, when I purchased my handset thru b-buy.com last fall(see jpg).

BINGO. Yeah, that's NOT happening any more. Those folders are now SECURED from any other apps viewing them. Only the owning app can view. The files are probably there, nice and safe.
Right now I know of 3 ways to view them. Total commander file manager in the app store filed the appropriate request to google for "total access" and you can view them if you hook your phone up to a computer. The 3rd way is quite a bit uglier requiring you to make an activity to a legacy file manager that google accidentally left in android 11 but hid. I'd have to dig around a lot to find those instructions again.
It's called "SCOPED STORAGE"... Go read about it and cry.... I know I did.
So, NO, you aren't going nutz based on this. However, that doesn't preclude other ways to go nutz!!!!

Thanks for the reply...I've heard bits/pieces in talks with geek friends, and I appreciate your expertise here on this topic! But, why aren't the bytes getting gobbled -up(like when viewing sd card stg. available from the pull--down menu or from device care app)? I downloaded nearly 45 gb of audio files to my sd card, with absolutely no change there, but you see the stg reduction to internal storage. For what benefit, to them , google? Or just more of the ongoing sparing the two of 'em are constantly a part of! lol/smh
