Interesting news - myTouch 4G General

Stumbled upon this by accident, but thought it was rather interesting.

Evidently it's their official profile. Discuss.

Good find...

Cyanogen posted this on twitter. T-mobile responded to his post and said that while they love the dev community, that github profile is not actually T-mobile.

Over on Android Forums someone has referenced seen a DH7 firmware mentioned. Anyone aroudn here know about that?
As this is not officially know that I know of, or asking about DEV, I didn't post this in the DEV section.

It is a typo. They are referencing a tweet by samsung support from days ago, and she typo-ed the release name. She was referencing the AT&T complaints and JH7.
Hm..it was probably a typo. Since that was originally mentioned on the galaxyssupport twitter account.
Yeah probably. Someone else on that thread thought it was a typo also, although another poster later in the thread mentioned that DH7 was mentioned to him on a support call with Samsung.
Just thought I'd check over here. Getting anxious for a real fix. Thought maybe this was it.
Thanks folks.

Build 4349 Has Been Pulled !

I spoke with technical support for about the 10th time in 1 week, this afternoon and at aprrox 2 PM Easern time was told that the reason I can not update to 4349 is because it HAS BEEN PULLED !
So it took me nearly a week after buying my G Tab just to get to 3588 over the air as the servers were down most of last week. Now it looks like it will b a week more to get anything new.
I was told this during a conversation with US Merchants the 3rd party company supporting the G Tablet at (310) 228-4000 They also told me a new update is coming later this week.
There were other threads on this topic

You must NOT have read my post fully,
Neither of the two posts you linked mentioned what I said, that I personally confirmed by coversation with US Merchants the company who supports G Tab for Viewsonic that 4349 was Officially Pulled and Would Not be back up as a new update is in the works.
Thank you come again!

Then you should have added it to one of those threads.
Or the other 20 threads just like it
Mmm if he add that message it could maybe go unnoticed unless thread starter updates his post to reflect the update
Even if he contacts the thread starter there is no warranty tha he/she will want to share his post or Even credit him

thank you for the info. i for one am glad you didnt add it to page 30 of some other thread on the same topic and bury it.

What they meant to say is:
We already talked about this in the IRC. All forum posts are nullified by the IRC. Also, any pertinent information about the G Tablet can only legitimately be shared by Senior Members of the Forum. If you are not a Senior member and we haven't pal'd around with you on the IRC then STFU and DIAF! I don't care if Jeff Fisher, Alan Chang, and Larry Page personally delivered Honeycomb to your door in a media-event-flurry that is being covered live by Gawker! If you are not a Senior Member or this forum or an IRC buddy then it didn't happen, there are already other posts, and STFU.

So I guess you are volunteering to help the mods clean/close/merge all these duplicate threads.
For those of us that actually use the search function, it just makes it that much harder to find what we are looking for.
And I don't get on the IRC channel.
It's ok to create this thread... Thanks!

I've contributed my 2 cents on that facebook link. Although I doubt anything would come of it, it would be great if a lot more people became vocal about their displeasure.
Have faith in your XDA Community!
Yeah, it sucks but I have all the faith in our community here at XDA..
The Ice cream man cometh! Hopefully
Devs-
Is there anything in particular we need/should be asking for from Viewsonic in our replies to the facebook post?
Given that they are essentially giving up, to the extent resources are needed for the dev community this seems like a good time to ask.

ROMs for Pure/Style that are not supported on XDA

I have been starting to compile a list of ROMs that are not found on XDA for the clark (Pure/Style)... Note that due to some of the authors preference, there are no threads here, so out of respect this is just a pointer, not a discussion or support area for these ROMs, please use their official areas.
Here is a couple, know of anymore???
BrokenOS - Download link removed per BrokenOS FAQ
ZephyrOS - Downloads
NOTE: This thread does not supply links to ROM builds if it is specifically requested by the ROM owner, and we do not provide support for any ROM, or even reviews, it is just a reference to point you in the right direction to take care of things yourself. Do not PM me or any other person here about these ROMs. The owners of these ROMs do not post them here for a reason, this is just a reference so you can find them and it is not my intent to circumvent their reasons for not posting them here, or question their reasons.
BrokenOS may not appreciate you linking their ROM on XDA.
See attached pic.
It's what I run and their Google+ page is pretty particular about this.
I've never tried the Zephyr you linked.
Someone seems to not understand how the internets work.

I removed the download link, but I believe link to their main site is acceptable.
Zephyr I just found browsing AFH's clark area, really know nothing about it.

Do you think the developers of those ROMs are somehow unaware of XDA's existence?

No, of course not... But many users of XDA are unaware of any these ROMs or how to look for them, or even if they should. My point is not to support or discuss these ROMs, that is best left for their official channels, but to make users aware there are options outside of XDA because many users think XDA has everything, and although it is a great resource, it is hardly all encompassing.

This is not a thread to discuss or even review these ROMs, its only purpose is to make users who wouldn't otherwise know, aware of their existence.
It is a topic I tread lightly with... I do not want to step on people's toes but many people would never know some of these existed unless referred to somehow.

Actually, I don't think that's the case... Some developers just dislike XDA.

It's ridiculous in the first place to publicly release a rom online and expect to keep the community limited. Obviously people will find it and share it on other more popular sites.
If these developers really wanted full control over their userbase their roms wouldn't be easily found through google searches.
It's on Google Plus. Available to anyone with a Google account.
They aren't hiding their ROM's from the public.
Not everyone likes XDA's rules and regulations.
I've been upset with XDA myself but never enough to leave.
Developers have even more strict rules to abide by and some dev's leave for various reasons.
XDA isn't the only Android community you know.
ROM development goes on at plenty of other websites.
I'm not sure why some of you don't understand that.
I'm not pointing at the OP btw, I for one appreciate the thread intentions.
---------- Post added at 01:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:04 PM ----------
Btw, I trust ROM's from XDA more than other sites, specifically because of XDA's strict rules about open sourcing, etc.
I'm only on Broken ROM because I'm familiar with the team's development for a long time.
Otherwise I would not run any ROM from any other site.
Keeping your development closed source is not automatic grounds for suspicion but it does make a person wonder.
Someone asked for a review of Broken.
To someone who knows nothing about developing (me), it's 99% the same thing as Dirty Unicorn's ROM but uses the newer version of Layers instead of DU's CM theming. And it has more built in themed stuff. But options-wise it's very similar.
I won't talk about performance, battery or stability because it's all subjective and XDA does not like that type of comparison discussion because it's stupid and I agree with that.

My impression is that the average IQ of XDA has dropped precipitously over the last few years, making threads here a never ending stream of the same, usually stupid, questions.
I wasn't aware that the rules here were particularly restrictive.
This thread is a nice idea, but if I was a dev running away from the general populace here, I'd be pissed at someone redirecting their numbskullery at me.

If a dev wanted to control who knows about, or talks about their ROM it would be easy... A site that requires a login and approval by them. I know of some of these "ghosts", but I won't link them (it wouldn't apply to this device anyway).
The two I linked are easy to find... BrokenOS specifically requests not to have their ROMs linked or distributed on any other site, and I did not do this, that is the only request I found, and their builds are clearly available on AFH. Zephyr OS is all over XDA, just no thread for our device, but someone is building it and I ran across it in AFH we'll browsing the Clark section.
These are good roms that the average user wouldn't know of otherwise, and if a legitimate rep for either asked for it to removed, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Can't disagree with the general quality or apparently low IQ of many new users, when a simple search would answer many of these questions.

There is an unofficial Telsa build on Ground Zero ROMs G+ page in the unofficial section from about 6 weeks ago, but it looks like it had some issues and was never cleaned up or finished. Too bad, Tesla/Tipsy/Validus are great ROMs and super stable.
Paranoid Android is weird... years ago there were once builds for everything and it was often used as a base ROM for other builds, but now they have about 25 official devices and other than that I don't know, their website is pretty bad and there are no unofficial build listed at all, definitely no Clark build so far.
I don't think either is worth linking in the first post.
Is this broken rom decent? Not trying to read 5000 pages to find out general info about this ROM
I just downloaded and flashed it tonight. So far so good. Only thing I miss is ad blocking for YouTube. Other that it's very smooth and has advanced lte.

Galaxy S8 LineageOS 15.1

NOTE: This is an exact copy of my post in the lineageOS section for the galaxy S8. The reason I am re-posting it here is because I want to get the word out to people who may not be taking note of that particular thread as some may consider it a dead thread. I hope this is not considered spamming, the only copy of this post is here and in the lineageos section for the S8, I will not be posting it anywhere else. Thank you.
I have been using XDA for years but have mainly been using the roms that other dev's have built and also looking for answers to any questions I had to potential problems throughout the years. I have never felt the need to create an account as I felt I had nothing to offer, everything that I could do was already being done by someone else and I don't post questions because 99% of the time a quick google of the error code or problem will turn up an answer either on here or somewhere else. Anyway, I have been using the s8 for a while and have been running renovate ICE 11.1 stable which is an absolutely brilliant ROM, huge hat tipping to the dev's for that, it's such a shame it's heading the way it is. I have been looking into running lineageOS but as you all probably know, the unoffical ports are not good and have been left in alpha stage for a long time which is sad, especially as people donated money to have that done. So, I am going to port it myself, only because I want to run it myself, however, I figured that I may as well release it for everyone instead of being selfish and keeping it just for myself. I will probably never use this XDA account again after I post the ROM so this is just a shout out to let people know that they should watch my account if they are after lineage 15.1 for the s8 G950F.
Thanks for reading.
