Is there an app out there that lets you know if your text messages that you sent out have been opened up?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
I'm pretty sure Handcent does. If I recall correctly, when I was looking through the settings it had the ability to have read receipts and something else like sent confirmations or something like that.
These options are off by default but can be checked on in the settings.

Yeah, handcent does something like that

They don't show up in the Market of the rooted stock 2.1 ROM for some reason. They are the only 2 apps I've had problems with.
Edit: Here is Handcent 3.0.
Here is Quick Settings.
Handcent link dead
When I search for handcent I find the font packs but not the actual app, very odd indeed since I think I previously was able to download it.
Edit: Here's a link that shows that the makers of the app are having a problem also.

Not for me. I just tried it on my computer and my EVO, and both worked.
Handcent link is dead to meh too. =\
I'm not rooted and I can't find it in the market either.

Thanks, that worked.
old .apk
Hope this is in the right place. I got a new phone and the updated handcent on the market now only auto converts to mms after message exceeds THREE message lengths. I thought i remembered it converting after it exceeded only one message length. Am I wrong? And if I am remembering correctly, does anyone have an .apk of one of the versions before the change?... preferrably the last one. Thanks.

Hmm. I guess ive finally lost it! Lol. Thanks for the quick reply.

So what are the quick settings for?
Qick Settings, as far as I see, give a shortcut to things like notification settings for handcent, but I see no area for changing auto-convert settings
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
Quick Settings is just an app for changing things like system volume, wifi, GPS, etc.
Ok so as we know the galaxy 4g has the cool puzzle piece unlock. But the default SMS app isn't very good compared to handcent. So is there anyway you could use the puzzle piece unlock with handcent

with handcent doesnt the message automatically pop up without you having to unlock your phone?
and shouldnt this thread be in general?
I have the pop up disabled. I was in a rush so I thts why I posted it in the wrong section

This is just my opinion but if you can get the .apk file and if the rom your on is deodexed than you can try to use root explorer or anything like it to overwrite the original mms.apk with handcent.
You got to rename handcent to Mms.apk or whatever your mms.apk is named.
I've done it when I was on white's deodexed kd1 but thats just me.
Don't try it if your unsure and I take no responsiblity if you mess up.
Hope this info gives you more of a idea on how it can be done.

My gf got rid of handcent because it kept messing up her messaging. Either missing text, not sending, or send very garbled up messages; was really weird.

I switched from Handcent to GOSMSPro, and haven't looked to any other apps since. They're very similar at first glance but I like GOSMS better. I don't use the puzzle unlock, but maybe you can give it a go, it might work with it.

Hrm, I've been looking at that app. What is exactly better about it compared to handcent?

I just tried go SMS pro and its ok but I think handcent is a lot better. I don't think go SMS had the puzzle piece unlock option

I like that it allows theming plus you can turn off features you don't use so it'll use up less memory. You can also customize the icons that come up in notifications, you can have contact blacklists, private threads (you can password protect texts from certain people), per contact notifications, backlight notifications... That's what I can think of off the top of my head. I think they're very similar apps.
Too bad that neither works with the puzzle unlock.
Ya go SMS definitely has really cool features but I like the look of handcent more. And memory isn't a problem for me since I can force apps to the sd card using titanium backup

Anyone else have issues with zedge notification tones not sticking? I have one I downloaded selected but when I get an email or text a default system one plays. Any ideas?

You have to manually set those by going into each and apply it in their settings. Like for the text, open up messages, click menu and go into settings and change the tone all the way at the bottom of the menu. Same applies for the email

That worked, thanks man.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
That's odd. My boss has an infuse and he doesn't have to set them each manually. He's able to just set his notification tone in either sedge or in settings and it works for texts and email.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
Happened to me too. I set the one in settings, but it only worked for general notifications, not text. That one I had to go the setting in the message app itself, which I thought was weird.
But then I thought about it and it makes sense. If you want to have multiple sounds for different types of notifications.
How the heck do you remove (or change ) the default sound for receiving e-mail messages?
I've tried going into settings and GMail, but with no luck. For lack of a better way to describe the sound, it sounds like a "haunting sound". I've installed a number of ROMs and this sound seems to be the default.
Thanks!!
MC
I think your talking about the "notification ringtone." For me, email, Facebook, and any other apps are tied together to this. Just go to settings/sounds/notification, to change.

Yea, I have tried that, but it still uses the same sound
Go t root explorer....system>media>notifications>and delete your selected ringtone

Thanks, everyone. Turned out I missed changing a setting in my email program. Usually when I restore my apps using TBU, I haven't had to worry about that setting, but for some reason the notification tone changed this last time I flashed a ROM.

I'm looking for a highly configurable, minimalistic missed call/text/email notification center to use in conjunction with WidgetLocker. I've run the gamut by now. Missed It! is pretty good, but still not quite as tweakable as I'd like. Ideally, it'd be terrific if the notifications hid when there were no missed calls/texts, and appeared only when needed.
Anyone have a good alternative?
Thanks.

Thanks for the recommendation. I've tried Noled with Widgetlocker and found it just doesn't work, but perhaps I've misconfigured it. Thoughts?

Hi! Just like you, I got Missed It! so that I could properly combine it with WidgetLocker... and if I understand correctly what you want, Missed It! does have it: in Settings -> Output format, uncheck "Always show output".
Interesting. I'll give that a shot. "Always show output" isn't exactly the most self-explanatory menu item...

NoLed does work, but it's a bit of a pain to set up! You have to check on all of the options, and select the ones you want.

Certain things don't work correctly with a non-standard lockscreen. I use Phonelocator Pro and it acts as a manager using the internal Android lockscreen but NOLed still does not work correctly with it. The developer confirmed this in his thread.

I thought phone locator was an app to know the location of a phone, and not a lockscreen? In any event noLed works with golocker. Which lockscreen are you using?

In order to prevent the app from being disabled, it acts as a "device administrator." It uses the default Android Lockscreen still but the dev. said it was no-go no noLED. Perhaps he didn't understand just how Phonelocator modifies default behavior, but regardless that was his answer.
