Pssword Lock - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I have a HTC Tytn II WM 6.1 phone factory unlocked standard phone. One of the standard features in settings funtion is "lock". It is in the form of a "key symbol". You can set a password so that the phone will ask for a password when switching on and you can also set the time interval before the phone asks for a password. It stops nosy people snooping on your phone. It really annoys me when such a great feature like this is not on my HTC Touch Pro 2 factory unlocked WM 6.1 phone. Like with all things technical, its one step forward and two steps back.
Anyway, is there a cab file out there that does this sort of thing. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks

It's in the security settings in WM6.1 man. WM is WM the OS backbone does not change from one device to the next

I guess I was looking too hard.
Thanks.

WM isn't exactly the most user friendly once you get into the settings. You are not the first to have this problem and will NOT be the last. Don't sweat it

It is a big question, but all your questions are answered in this huge forum already, so you have to go and do some reading and searching for yourself and you will find all your answers, plus more and you will learn a lot. You will see what people said about 6.1 and you will see waht people said about BT just by reading other threads.
Dude, theres official BT fix to download from the HTC: (Bluetooth Hot Fix (for HTC TyTN II) )

When it comes to "what You can do with You device" the limit is the limit of Your imagination. The people at xda-developer is doing magic, but please use the wiki's and the search function like:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/
From this wiki You select the device of Your interest (Kaiser) http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser
Now You have the world in front of You: Reviews, Discussions, Hacks and tweaks, ROM upgarding etc.

1. the vibrate function can provide you hours of enjoyment, with proper placement (external or internal, your choice)
2. install as many programs as possible, filling up both main memory and storage card, using them once or twice then never use them again. after flashing a new rom, install a new assortment of software you probably don't need.
3. re-encode your favourite pr0n to ppc scaling and impress your friends with today's pocket pr0n.
4. port over wm5 from the wizard (blinding speeds, you won't be sorry)
5. read ALL the stickies in Kaiser upgrading area of forum (this isn't near as fun as the other suggestions, but you'll be able to answer your own questions, and be comfortable in the knowledge that you can hack your phone "without any help")
1 and 3 make a nice combo too!
Yes there is a WM6.1 upgrade, i am using Shaps at the moment and it seems to work fine for me.
WM6.1 doesnt give you a huge amount new, Shaps 6.1 rom for me has been stable and quick, i dont tend to install much on my phones though other than the included stuff. I do a few bits and install TomTom. 6.1 has threaded sms which is nice but has some annoying little issues, like i cant seem to find a way to forward sms messages any more. bit annoying.
Flicking through some of the other forums people seemed to be muttering about not being able to sync there 6.1 phones with ex2003, i use ex2007 though so i cant comment, mine works fine.
Havent noticed any bad sound quality over bluetooth. Be more specific though, do you mean stereo bluetooth or just normal.
I use the htc home plugin looks nice and works well.
Hope i have helped.
Rob
ps. Remember before you rush out and start flashing roms, read the wiki and things. You have to do stuff like hard spl and things first.
If i were you i would do it in this order.
1. hard spl
2. sim unlock (if needed)
3. wm 6.1 rom
4. radio rom

You are one sick and twisted individual and I like it.
Start with the beginning of the internet at www.www.com and read through the entire thing.
I like to turn on wifi, 3g, gps, and bluetooth and use my kaiser to keep my coffee warm.

Read the Sticky on Radio's. Or read the last page on Dutty's Post, you will see me explaining this to someone.
It will explain that you need a 6.1 Radio for a 6.1 ROM.
1. Upgrade your radio!!!
2. To allign the screen, first disable FTouchFlo, soft reset, allign the screen and reenable the FTouchFlo...

Thanks a lot the radio problem is solved. The keyboard though remains. The functionality with the function keys i.e. the commas,; etc..etc are not aligned I get different values. I get a & instead of " that the button shows.

search for tilt keyboard fix.. Just install it and soft reset your phone...
Searched and here you go...

Has the general public forgotten how to read or do a search.
Why not post your questions in the thread pertaining to the rom that you just flashed instead of starting a new thread.
I bet you have a tilt dont you. Have you tried the tilt keyboard fix?
Seriously, if I had a dollar for every "my sound isn't working" thread, I'd have like 20 dollars by now. (sorry, couldn't resist)
Holy cow... After I revamped the wiki to be easier to navigate than any other wiki, there are still people asking this?
XDA-developers is being inundated with regular Joes, and despite everything we try to do to assist the average Joe, there are still too many people who will start a new thread and bump it until they get the support they need, rather than reading.
I give up. Logging out until things change around here...
I don't blame you Alex. Un-f#$%king-believable that people are such idiots.

Setting up notifications to repeat until acknowledged

Hi,
I recently upgraded to Vodafone's v1415, and there's one feature I dearly miss from my old phone. That's having it beep or vibrate every 5 minutes or so if it has a new notification (such as a text message, a missed call, etc) until I respond. Is there a way to set that up with this phone?
Thanks.
You can do this with mortscript. Use the search function. It should be somewhere on the forum!
Thanks for the quick reply. I looked around a bit on the forum but couldn't find anything that didn't involve upgrading Windows or some other dramatic change. Did I miss something, or is that the only way?
I have to admit to being very new to the whole scene; this is my first smartphone, so I'm not familiar with most of what's written on the forum. I'm usually good with technology though, so if upgrading Windows is indeed the only way, I wouldn't need a guide for *complete* idiots
It is very simple to flash a rom (upgrade windows as you put it). I would suggest doing that anyway, if you arent completely against it. Check the Vox Wiki, which is located in my sig and read about flashing roms and decide if you want to go that route.

Shortcut to Lock Screen

I was wondering ( and I have done a search first ) if there was a way to initiate the windows lock screen where you have to input a pin. I wanted to be able to add a shortcut to the menu to lock the phone so that the pin has to be entered rather than waiting for it to time out. I am guessing its going to be one of those simple requests that is actually quite hard to do.
Specifically I am using an HTC TyTn II with WM6.1
Many thanks
Check this thread
I guess the easiet way would be to write a few lines of code similar to what this user has done. Ofcourse...writing code is a different ball game altogether. If your device was running on WM6....I think this would be exactly what you'd be looking for.
Hope this helps.
Wow, actually this seems to work under WM6.1
Thank you so much for pointing this out to me...
Actually, I am looking for something like that too. I need a simple StartMenu shortcut for my Omnia II (i8000) to just lock my screen on demand (with WinMo default lockscreen).
Anybody knows, what the system file is, that executes device lock?

SIP menu on TG01 - anyone got it to work?

Hi guys! Try this one. Finally found a good version of EzInput for the Tosh but i've tried Programatix's EzInputSIP menu and it doesn't seem to do anything. Any clues, ideas, suggestions? Bit baffled as to why it won't work on it. WM6.5 problem or not configured for it maybe? Strange.
Anyway, let's hear your thoughts and findings!
TSS
Anyone? Come on guys... nearly 70 views to date and not one reply? Someone must know something!!!
+1
I'm dissapointed at having lost Block recogniser when upgrading to W 6.5 pro, and i feel old from being one of the last needing it.

Depends on the specific ROM you are using. If you are keen to reacquire the full set of input methods, the 6.5 ROM in my sig has Block, Keyboard, Letter, Toshiba and Transcriber built in. May also be available in some of the other cooked ROMs on XDA. There is a full list in the ROM thread.
