Grid Display Sizes - Android Apps and Games

I'm trying to cram a couple wigdets and icons onto the same same for my Epic 4G, and I noticed something when I was trying out Launcher Pro: the bottom control icons didn't have titles under them, and as a consequence, Launcher Pro is able to fit 5 control widgets on one line.
Is there any app/workaround out there that allows you to change the grid size of your display from 4x4 to 5x5 or to hide the text that is below the app icons to provide more app space?

mission possible! you need to be a hacker http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=697994
good luck

Don't you just need to change the number of rows and columns in the LauncherPro homescreen settings? Unless you're talking about something different.

There is an app called lcd density I believe and it makes it possible to fit more

LCD density just changes the DPI, so things look bigger or smaller. It doesn't affect the placement of shortcuts or widgets. Like Jumba said, you can change everything you've mentioned in Launcher Pro. It's the main reason I use it over Sense.

Homescreen grid. Which one do you use?

The default one on Sense is 4x4, but it could be increased with the likes of ADW or Launcher Pro.
I was playing with different values, but widgets are always overlapping.
If we take 960×540 display and subtract notification and dock areas, what's left? Don't think it is going to be 540x540. So, if I want to get rectangular greed, I'd need more rows, then columns.
What would be the optimal grid settings for qHD resolution?
I use adw.launcher with 6*8 grid. It's perfect for me.
So, using 6x8 on qHD screen, what would be the size of 1x1 cell?
I was trying to measure it with Desktop Visualizer tool, but the resulting widgets still overlap. ((

Sure icon texts / labels are overlapping, but I don't keep them enabled.

5x5 looks best with icon text

5 x 4 is enough imo

I use Elixir, and with the widgits, it is possible to get up to 7x7 icons on a screen.
I'm using Launcher Pro Plus and I think it looks great 6x4. It has an option to re-size widgets so that they don't overlap.

I use Elixir also. Started using it for the monitor and toggle widgets but fell in love with the app launcher widgets. I actually have zero icons on my home screens (all widgets) since Elixir is a widget. 49 icons on one home screen!
I really wish Sense could do at least 5x5...
I use ADW EX. 5x7 Is the best for me. 6x8 is too cluttered and it makes the icon labels overlap. Btw if the widgets look out of proportion just long press on them, press edit and adjust them to your liking.

New app drawer ( Google 5.3) app icon sizes

I had modded my dpi to 280, and on the previous version of the Google app, this caused more app icons to fit because it increased the number of columns and rows in the grid. The sizes.of icons and text were nice and small.
With the 5.3 update along with the vertical drawer, app icons are big and only 4 fit per row. Any way to get around this? Will I have to reset dpi and change it again?
You can change your launcher, some allow you to change the size of the icons. Or try something like Icon Changer Free.

Just downgrade your launcher.

Friend you can use nova launcher which allows you to manipulate icon sizes and you could also hold back to stock Google now launcher like experience on it.

Accessibility Options For Failing Sight On Stock Android?

I'm looking for any tips, tricks or advice for people with failing eyesight and using a stock Android device (Nexus 5X). Anything to be done besides ticking the Larger Text box under Accessibility? Is there a way to make the application icons bigger? A way to increase the system font so it's larger everywhere? Rooting is NOT an option.
Text to Speech stuff doesn't work well in crowded places.
for change dimension of app in app drawer (if I have understood well) you can simply change launcher to nova or anyone allow you to change icon dimension in drawer for the rest you have to modify the dpi so in the build.prop you should adjust dpi of the phone but root is required...

up to 145% but it's not the only think you can do in Nova, if you want bigger you can reduce the matrix of grid icons for have a dimension at blind proof... ?

change pixel launcher icon size?

I have rooted my pixel, changed LCD density to 380, and icons size is still the same. Would like more screen real estate without using an aftermarket launcher. Any ideas?
If you change the Display Size setting it shrinks everything down, doesn't add more rows or columns to the launcher though...
You could use Nova and tweak it like Pixel Launcher...

Yep use Nova prime and tweak anything you want.

I already changed the built in settings which helped but the icons are still too large for my taste. I specifically want to keep the factory launcher because of the ability to swipe right for Google now cards. I have paid for Nova prime and I've used it on my other devices but I want to keep the Pixel launcher and simply make the icons smaller. Changing LCD density in build prop used to do this for me on previous devices but it made no difference on the Pixel. Any ideas?

Grid resize missing after DPI change

Running stock(ish) OS on S8+
Got my setup "just so", and needed to change my DPI in Developer Options from default 411 to 514 (=411*1.25) to make use of larger screen real-estate I paid a premium for.
Option to resize the Home & App grids have disappeared, so even though app fonts & icon sizes are closer to what I desire, widgets on home screens look bad - scaled proportionately but padded to take up 125% space
Keeping the DPI & font sizes as-is, is there a way to tweak the grid sizes?
New launcher required
Seems this is an artifact of the launcher & not the "display manager".
Managed to get something approximating the outcome desired by making use of Nova Launcher
