Hi
I live in Iran and here, tweeter is censored. so there is no direct way to access it. but for example, we have Opera Mini that uses a proxy to connect to web, and so it bypasses the censorship. is there any similar app (you know, i mean android app) that uses a proxy to connect to tweeter?
Thanx dudes ;-)
Built-in Proxy
I do not what device you have but I would suggest getting a ROM with a working built-in proxy and using it for ALL of your communications...just saying...
But the problem is that i dont have a proxy server myself, so i want to use an app that it has!

Hey Guys,
I was wondering if any one knows if there is a Cisco VPN client for wm6 or some other 3rd party VPN client that is compatible with Cisco 3000 series?
I also is there an RSS feed reader that can display the news from BBC on today's screen.

The built-in L2TP/IPSec VPN client is compatible with the Cisco 3000 VPN Concentrator, but you need to setup the concentrator correctly to support it. It's a double bonus though as the setup for it to support the Windows Mobile L2TP/IPSec VPN Client is also applicable for the native Windows 2000+ L2TP/IPSec client, so you don't have to install the Cisco VPN Client on the PC's. The VPN Client in Windows Mobile is a bit temperamental though, especially on the Wizard, so there is a downside...... The 5.2.1437 ROM seems to be the most stable so far.
For RSS Feeds I am using JeyoInformer. This has an option to be displayed on the Today screen however I haven't used it too much, I just included it in my ROM build. There is a default XML file that it used and this has BBC's RSS news feed included.

Awesome! Thank you for the info. I will test is using the native VPN client. Will post the results.
So apparently the VPN that I need to connect to only uses L2TP/UDP where as the built in native VPN client uses PPTP or L2TP/IPSec. Any ideas if there is a VPN Client for Windows Mobile that uses L2TP/UDP?

No, the setup on the VPN Concentrator is wrong, or at least not setup for L2TP/IPSec VPDN. If it is already setup and your network admin doesn't want to reconfigure it then you will have to get an alternative VPN client.
Some details here, however I used RSA Signatures instead of pre-shared keys but this requires certificates.

How with the built-in VPN client does one specify the Cisco VPN 'group name'?
On linux I have a vpnc client functional, but to connect I need to be able to give the client the following:
vpn host
user
password
group name -- where do I put this in??
group password --I put this in as the IPSec/L2TP pre-shared key, of course in it's non-encrypted form via http://www.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/~massar/bin/cisco-decode -- is this correct?
old post, but I have the same question. My VPN requires a group name and group password (both of which I have) but the built wimo setup doesn't ask me for either.
hello
for group name and pass auth. you need to use anthavpn or bluefire sec. clients. but both not free
Hello,
Im using a htc hd2 with WM6.5
Does anyone know of a mobile browser in which I can change SOCKS proxy settings - just like mozilla firefox? (ive tried minimo and fennec a3, but no good, unless I could use some addon in fennec).
I want to tell my browser to listen on port 1080 for a SOCKS connection (im port forwarding with pocketputty).
Alternatively, does a program like 'tsocks' exist for windows mobile, in which I can socksify for my mobile browser? I havent used tsocks before btw.
Or finally, is there a way to edit the registry in WM6.5 so that the browser does listen on port 1080 for SOCKS?
Thankyou,
Will
yeah...bro..i need sm workaround as well !! please read my thread if it relates !!!
Summary:
I am attempting to use a remote SSH server as a proxy for browsing the web on my htc hd2.
This is called a "Poor man's VPN" - If you have never heard of this, please read this: http ://wiki.freaks-unidos.net/ssh-port-forwarding
I'm currently using pocket putty with dynamic port forwarding to forward port 1080 on a remote SSH server back to my localhost on my device.
I cannot seem to find a mobile browser that has the ability to configure SOCKS proxy settings. I need to be able to tell the browser to use a SOCKS proxy, to listen to localhost on port 1080 which is being forwarded.
Since I havent found a browser to do this, I have tried to use proxycap to sockify a browser. I basically want to redirect the traffic coming from the ssh tunnel with proxycap to the browser even though the browser has no SOCKS support.
I dont have a technical background.
I dont know if this actually works
Is it possible to do the above? If so, how do I configure proxycap to act between the SSH tunnel and the mobile browser...
well I found a way to configure proxy settings on minimo
you type into the URL "about:config".
Then you change some entries
network.proxy.socks......
however, I ran into another problem...does wm6.5 have a problem with with localhost or 127.0.0.1???
Because i read that localhost doesnt work on wm past version 5...
how else can get a loopback address??
bumpwwwwwww

Use a Proxy program
I am assuming you are on a windows domain. I suggest you download a program called Proxy Droid from the marketplace and setup the details on it. the reason being that windows domain requires NTLM authentication that very few program provide.
Cheers,
Vikram.
I'll try and hit back
proxy Droid works for me
I understand that the D2G does not support using a proxy server, So then why am I able to use Skype while not being able to use internet browser?
My laptop makes me sign in with proxy when using Skype, so why doesn't the Droid.
George
Skype generally has a lot of quirks which help it bypass firewalls. It's a major PITA for the system administrators (believe me, I know).
Android (and D2G as a device using it) supports using a proxy server for its browser. You can configure one directly by altering the SQLite3 database, settings, or using some freely available apps @ the Market. Some even allow you to automatically switch configuration based on your GPS location or wifi network parameters.
I'm looking for a mail client (for android obviously) where I can set a proxy.
I need to use a proxy to connect to the company exchange server. I could set the the proxy for all of my internet traffic but I don't really care for the idea to route all my data through the company proxy.
Allready looked at K-9 and Kaiten but couldn't find any proxy settings.
"Enhanced Email" by Quantum Apps says it can run pop/imap mail service. Ask on their support forum if its proxies are configurable.

Any update on this?
i'm looking for the exact same thing,
and with the search words 'proxy and android', even with other search words email,
you are drowned out, on google, with lots of irrelevant results...
so that, it took me a long time even to find this post.
I want to setup an email client to connect to my email server over Tor.
Much in the way that I can do that now on thunderbird, using Tor and torbirdy,
I will use Orbot on android....
Any ideas?
Maybe this will work with SandroProxy, app tab where you can redirect traffic just for one app and transparent proxy.
SandroProxy can then connect to other proxy. It's a little bit tricky but could work.
I'm developer of SandroProxy, Drony. There are also other proxies that can do the same.

I wonder if we have any app that natively support this.
