[MOD] [CM6] Bootanimation Audio Working! - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

This is something that I have been working on. So now that I have gotten it to work I am releasing it.
This is to enable bootanimation audio on CM6. This will probablly work fine for any aosp rom but I have not testing that out. If anyone wants to test on a non cm aosp rom please let me know how it works so I can update the post.
Bootanimation Audio as a flashable zip. This means yes you can flash this after a nightly or stable build and when you boot into the rom it will be working right away.
Bootanimation Audio:
Droid Eye Sound
Transformers Sound
You also notice two small scripts I have added to the package as well.
lcdd = lcd density changer
rmapk = system apk remover
Code:
# lcdd 240
Do you want to reboot now? (y or n) > n
No Eh? Must not wanna see your changes.
# lcdd 190
Do you want to reboot now? (y or n) > y
Rebooting Device
For the rmapk just run that its pretty self explanatory.
NOTE: Just in case!!!!! This zip only works the initial time. If you flash this over an existing one it will cause double entries and the boot animation will NOT WORK. After you flash this simply switch out the audio with a new on in your terminal or adb.
Code:
adb remount
adb push file.mp3 /system/media/android_audio.mp3
Code:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
cp /sdcard/file.mp3 /system/media/android_audio.mp3

Reserved...

Works great on CM RC1
Thanks

Also if anyone has mp3 clips that they would like to use please let me know it will only take a min to update a zip file for you and it would be nice to start a collection for cm6 audio files.

Here is the Transform Droid Sound - Add that to the col
It is cool but I think it is too short.

Do you have it running as an alternate home screen yet?
The way I would think of it, is that it works like any other home, you just select it as default for the home key, but I don't know.

Well some stuff has to be resized, trying different props and using different roms. I want to use the launcher and live wallpapers from the dump on a ecair or maybe 1.6 rom. Since genie is working was wondering if we could get other apps going too. i was a bit vague on what i was doing and maybe port wasnt the best word to use.

Geniewidget works because it came un-odexed in the dump. I have live wallpapers installled as well as livewallpaperpicker and it launches however, it fc's because of a small issue when de-odexing the apk's. I would have launcher2, and 3d gallery working as well if i didn't have this issue. Me and djengizz are working on it however. I'm working on getting these goodies working for 2.1 eclair btw.

Cool, the thing that interests me the most is the new app drawer and the live wallpapers- which seem to be your main points of focus. Good luck
what program do you use to edit apps
im curious because they are all encoded very strangely

drizzy has been working hard on nexus port to dream. he got it to boot, led's work, swap, a2sd, and cc. JAC also says he's working on one as well. so yes devs are hard at work on it.

Hey, looks like a dev over at AllDroid has already ported the launcher to 2.0.1. Maybe he can be of help to you folks.

How to make MP4 work using Cyanogen eclair kernel on G1?

Hi Guys,
I compiled an eclair rom using the 2.9.26-eclair branch of Cyanogen kernel on github . And I ported the camera-related sources from donut branch to eclair branch. Now both 3d and camera can work on my G1. But I still canoot play mp4 on G1.
Would you please tell me how to make mp4 work on G1? I knew Kingklick had succeed to make mp4 work. Is his sources open?
Thanks.

Would you please tell me which libs I should push into my 32B G1? I pushed libopencore_mp4*.so libOmxMpeg4.so from droid eris dump into my g1. But after that when I reboot my phone, my phone cannot be rebooted and stays at the first "G1 Tmobile" splash screen.

Thank you very much!
I downloaded the CE-12-Patch_3D_vid_signed.zip you prodivded and pushed all the libraries in your zip (except the wlan.ko) into my G1. The kernel my G1 used is built from Cyanogen kernel eclair branch. After pushing the libraries, I reboot my G1.But the G1 got stucked in the first "T-mobile G1" splash screen and couldn't be reboot into the system.
Why did it happen? I should use your kernel?? The opencore library depends on the kernel?? I think the opencore is independent. Even if there is something wrong with opencore, G1 can always be reboot. Am I wrong?

your linux will be running fine, its the Android that isn't happy
the libs are not dependent on the kernel, but may be dependent on something which is already in CE
tbh I can't really help you , I have no idea what 'ROM' you are pushing these libs to.....
logcat is your friend, I have a whole bunch of them on one line
Code:
adb logcat;adb logcat;adb logcat;adb logcat;adb logcat;adb logcat;adb logcat;adb logcat;adb logcat
make sure your phone is connected the first time, and it will happily sit there when you unplug, 'waiting for device' till you plug it back in.
and in another console
adb shell busybox top
sometimes you can even shell in if you are not seeing anything on logcat
'busybox top' will give you an idea of what is running
and there is nothing stopping you from having a couple more terminals open
one with a shell for 'doing stuff' and another for pushing and pulling stuff
all while watching top and logcat
your loop is probably to do with drm, but the logcat will tell you

Installing/Pushing CE-12-Patch_3D_Vid_signed.zip
Got a question... I recently downloaded the v4_1.zip, and was wondering if it's possible to incorporate the CE-12-Patch_3D_Vid_signed.zip in to it. I'm not new to the whole rooting thing, and have tried several variations of the Eclair and Donut roms floating around here. Unfortunately, I'm not to well versed in ADB. My main interest in pushing the above zip is to finally have an Eclair rom with working video. If anyone can help me out with this, it'd be greatly appreciated.

the v4 is a different beast
King's Eris has working video
King's Eris CachHacked has working video and is a lot faster

Thanks for the response. Actually, I was only using the v4 rom as an example. I have tried King's Eris rom, and I think I have the most recent version of it, but the last time I tried it the camcorder did it's I'm not gonna work for you thing. Is there a way to push the CE-12-Patch_3D_Vid_signed.zip to this rom instead, or did I misinterpret the description of this patch? At any rate, it is fun trying all these new and different roms. Can't wait for a fully working 2.0 pastry.
P.S: I just tried the FR-v4OL-CH-0-1_S.zip rom, and it does have video playback. Unfortunately, the camcorder is still non-funtional, of course, and data doesn't appear to be working.

/data not working?
if data wasn't working it wouldn't boot past the bootanimation splashscreen
if data is 'full' reboot, it will correct itself
Unfortunately, when I try to do something that requires a data connection, it suggests using wifi. During setup, I did select the first connection option, which I think was data and wifi or something like that. When I try to go into Market to sign in that way, I can't connect. Is there a step I'm missing, or has this happened to anyone else? Also, is there a way to push the CE-12-Patch_3D_Vid_signed.zip into the FR-v4OL-CH-0-1_S.zip rom, or can I just flash like a normal zip? Thanks in advance.

ahh, sorry I'm getting all mixed up, because everyone is stressed out over FR-a2sd using /data for something useful instead of leaving it as an empty, wasted space.
yes, data connection is not working, tbh I don't know why the Market doesn't work even if wifi is working..
The CE-12-Patch_3D_Vid_signed.zip isn't going to do anything for FR-v4OL-CH-0-1_S.zip
its just a 3D kernel , and libs I took from the eris dump which got video working.
infact , the libs are 'mostly' the same as the ones already in v4OL
( which means I'm totally not understanding why video is dark, got to be a framework thing, maybe, I don't really know, just guessing )
Flashing / pushing CE-12-Patch is just going to kill v4OL
I did CE-12-Patch a long time ago, shortly after re-visiting xda after initially rooting my g1 way back in Feb '09.. kinda wished I'd stuck around then.
anyway, CE-12-Patch WILL break v4OL, is it doesn't mount mtdblock4 in the right place.
the v4OL is beta , lots of things don't work
if you get your kicks trying to fix broken things, or making yourself understand things you don't understand ( i.e. you self teach )
then it is for you.
if you want things to work 'out of the box' ,
King's Eris mostly works
ce12 cachehack works
ce2.0 works ( with a 'lil' fixup, facebook fix is in the thread FR*S.zip coming soon.. )
OE1.3.0.1 has things working ( anyone flashed ce12-patch over oe1.3 ? )
and good ol' SuperD works very well.
personally I think your best root is the CE12 CacheHack
It's fully functional, and best of all, CE2.0 is a *no wipe* update
You can flash CE2.0 , just a couple of fixes that need to be consolidated
they are in the thread , minor fix is at post #1401 ( which I will update to a "no hassle, flash straight after CE2.0" soon )

One zip does it all?
yeap,
I get the recovery program to run a shell script, this script looks at the size of mtdblock4 ( the 'cache' partition ) and then creates symbolic links based on what 'SPL' it has determined, then the rest of the ROM is flashed, the files follow the links and .. well its like someone sat down and thought about the best way to use the space
At some point I would like to look at getting that shell script generated so that it can very easy to apply to any rom.
Danger I do have to admit that the Danger version is a bit of a 'quick fix', around 20mb is idle on /system, I'll look at improving on that.
At the moment all the system apps are on data, but as app_IS, with a little bit of 'moving and re-linking' we can trigger a2sd to do its thing
Edit 2010-04-24: system apps are going to sd by default now
NoneDanger is as good as it can get on the G1, got a couple of mb free space on system, and that will likely improve as the 'bad apps' are weeded out
I currently have 37mb free on data, yeah I know for some reason people want this empty, why? its faster than sd
MT3G ok, so you don't have a keyboard , but space you have lots of space
The script will chop this 164mb rom in two and share it across /system and /cache leaving the 295mb /data partition free for dalvik-cache, user apps and setting/files

Should be able to flash straight after the main 'ROM', if it does fail, just reboot straight back to recovery and flash the fix again
#########################
Instructions !!
OK, this is a very early release, consider it Alpha, the ROM is Huge and as such it takes a good while for it to settle.
If you 'went in' a little early you will see FC's , and it will look real bad...
But trust me , its fine
Reboot by pressing call + end and then menu, and let it settle
One it gets settled in it actually does quite well, much better than I had hoped
and I have not done any tweaking yet, just got it to boot
Edit : 2010-04-24 - Its actually quite stable on a first boot now
But still give it a couple of minutes, and do the full sign in
( i.e. don't charge in to do a market sign in, never understood why that was needed )
Missing widgets?
probably 'logged in' a little too quick
if widgets seem to be missing, then
settings --> applications --> manage applications --> menu(key) --> filter --> all --> HTC sense --> clear data
should make them all available
Make Backups?
you need
[UTIL] BART-1.2.0 Backup and Restore Tool
Now supports backup and restore of CacheHack ROMs
Anyway, I hope you enjoy
feel free to use as a base,

Just a Kernel , so flash it last
A quick note on patching CacheHack ( or any ROM )
Just wanted to make a quick post on Patching this ROM, and any ROM for that matter
as stuff is on cache, and is in different places dependent on the SPL symlinks are are 'broken'
So, we fix them in the update script
mountall.sh
Code:
#!/sbin/sh
mount -a
if [ -d /system/csys ];
then
mount -o bind /cache /system/csys
fi
now, in your update-script the top line should read
Code:
run_program PACKAGE:mountall.sh
assuming that mountall.sh is in the root of the zip
now, when the update-script runs the mountall.sh
all partitions get mounted, and if /system/csys directory exists it bind mounts /cache to it
All of the symlinks will now work
so , if your replacing a file in /system/lib the link will be followed
Danger its actually /system/lib/
NoneDanger and MT3G its /cache/system/lib ( or /system/csys/system/lib )
this also means you can easily do
Code:
copy_dir PACKAGE:system
where in the zip
system/
system/lib/libWatstis.so
system/app/SomeSystem.apk
libWatstis.so ends up in the right place
as does SomeSystem.apk, even if its on the sd ,
( /system/app >> /data/app_s >> /system/sd/app_s )
in the past, to 'upgrade' a system app on sd, people would delete /data/app_s ( as it was a symlink ) which would break things for anyone not using a2sd
nb, the mountall script should be in unix format, else it will fail !!!
a third post
Silly edit is silly, will test out later.
So much win coming soon. Thanks for the post. Is the AnySPL a no-wipe from your first one?
I noticed I can't change scenes. Just does nothing-- is that me or a bug to be worked on? And the bloatware makes me think I bought an ATT phone all over again, lol. There's a lot of room for improvement. Just when I was getting bored with Legend, got a new toy to play with.
just checking before i get too far in this is the cfs-3d kernel on this rom already or do we flash that one over this rom also?
Let see
Giving this a try right now on my Mt3g... Will let you know how I go.

Hmm, hadn't thought of that
/system and /cache get wiped by the script, but I leave /data alone
it might get touchy about it with no wipe
One of the things I want to do is the deal with the whole wipe thing, I personally don't wipe, if it works , if not then I wipe
do i still have to flash the kernel from the other post on top of it?

Umm since there is no BootScreen how long does it usually take to boot ? because i am kinda iffy on weather i should wipe again and flash
(been booting for about 5 mins)
whats the diff between this one and the other slide rom?
This fast already...
Wow, I have no idea wether it's your Cache hack working well or that this ROM just works better with the mt3g but I can't believe this is the first release. Looking forward to everything working... Will use this as my everyday ROM for sure!.

[FIX] Inspire 4G Audio Fix (For use with DesireHD ROMs) !!

DISCLAIMER: It is now 5AM and I've had about 8 hours of sleep over the past 48 hours so I might be imagining things. I'm pretty sure there is a difference in audio quality, but without 2 phones side by side, it's hard to compare
Instructions:
1) Flash any DesireHD ROM, your choice!
2) Flash the attached zip file with CWM (it includes the Inspire 4G kernel)
3) Install the attached PropEditor apk, and run it.
4) Open build.prop using PropEditor and change
Code:
htc.audio.hac.enable=0
to
Code:
htc.audio.hac.enable=1
5) Hit the menu button and save! REBOOT!! win?
Let me know how it goes! I do hope I'm not going crazy
I'll update tomorrow with what exactly I did. Too tired to type it out now, GOODNIGHT.
THE DIFFERENT VERSIONS:
-V2: Better quality than V3, speakerphone microphone does not work
-V3-test: Slightly worse quality than V2, better than no sound fix, speakerphone microphone works 100%
palletguru said:
Went back to audio V2. I can personally attest to the fact that the sound is as good as stock - did a side by side with coworker's non routed inspire.

CHANGELOG:
V3-test: Removed extra files, sound quality is around the same (or slightly worse) compared to V2. Speakerphone Mic should work
V2: Removed AIC3254_REG_DualMic_MCLK.csv and AIC3254_REG_DualMic.csv as suggested by BelacNongaw to fix mic
Testing her now, thanks!!
Btw, which DHD Roms have you tested using this fix?
I'll report back after testing it (Core Droid DHD)

Hey whats up man...I know this might be asking a lot is there a way to a make a video about this? But no rush on it bro.. Cause you have been busy with this stuff
Although still not perfect, its 10x better than before with the telus. Unless I forgot the quality of stock which could be possible. But there is definitely a huge difference, to the point that I'm not going back to telus. Good work! Plus, the stock source kernel is being used which is always the best for stability eventhough telus didn't cause any stability problems.

Exception to my last post, it actually did fix everything! Audio in media player sounds as it should, ringtones sound perfect, etc. This thing is now perfect! Dhd roms, using stock kernel with perfect audio, themes, root access in less than a week! I love xda!

Could unrooted people use that apk to enable hsupa in the build.prop? I'm curious....

Well I'd have to compare the stock build.prop to the DHD one that people have installed, but there are these values in the DHD one:
ro.ril.enable.dtm = 1
ro.ril.gprsclass = 12
ro.ril.hsdpa.category = 10
ro.ril.hsupa.category = 6
ro.ril.hsxpa = 3
Guessing one of those is changed in the stock. Will check later
EDIT: Just pulled the build.prop off my unrooted phone and they look the same... odd
failed to remount system rw
I keep getting an error when trying to save build.prop after editing. "failed to remount system rw". I tried creating a backup and editing that then restoring it but got the same error. Am I missing something simple?...lol...thanks
I've been working on this too. Remove AIC3254_REG_DualMic_MCLK.csv and AIC3254_REG_DualMic.csv from /system/etc/ in the zip and this will work without breaking the mic. Good job.

Another way to edit build.prop is
Reboot into recovery
Under mounts and partitions mount system
On the computer:
adb pull /system/build.prop
Edit build.prop
adb push build.prop /system/build.prop
Yay sounds great with my HD2 !!

does the sound now work on both ends? can you hear who you are talking to and can they hear you?
If the OP removes the two files from the zip that I mentioned in my post, yes. Until then, you can browse the zip with astro on the phone and delete them yourself before flashing.
so do I need to remove those two files from the zip? Im just about to flash a new rom and this kernel and then edit.

Yes, or you won't have a working mic.
did i do it wrong?
I'm unable to save, so i save it to sdcard then move the file to /system
I did not remove anything.
I leave myself a voicemail, I can hear myself just fine!

did u try uot kitchen??

I have a solution for you guys.
[hard way] Here is what you have to do step by step, but it's not as easy as installing an update.zip file.
Install Android Terminal Emulator
Open Superuser apk then
-press the hardware menu button (the left hardware button with 4 squares)
-press Settins
-enable ROOT permission (ON)
Open Terminal Emulator and type next lines (don't forget to hit the "enter" after each command)
su
mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmvblk1p21 /system
echo -e "\nro.product.use_charge_counter=1" >> /system/build.prop
reboot
Bare in mind that if you misspell some of the code above you might have to reinstall MIUI.
[easy way] Install the attached update.zip file.

Thanks dear nepotu. My Milestone A853 is running with MIUI 1.11.11 ROM.It is showing battery level indication in 10%.So I downloaded your Easy Installation Update .zip and placed it in the updates folder of Open recovery. Then rebooted to OR,wiped cache partition and dalvik and installed the .zip from the updates. But after the reboot the battery indication is still 10%.So I repeated the procedure again.Still the same 10% indication.Whether did I miss something or this update.zip is not compatible to Milestone?
pnsdhrn I'm not familiar with MIUI ROM for Milestone, hence I won't be able to help you. As you might know MIUI is based on CM sources and the Defy's CM7 ROM supports 1% battery steps.
My script only adds a line (ro.product.use_charge_counter=1) to the build.prop file enabling this "hidden" feature which isn't enabled by default on miuiandroid.com version. Moreover if I'm not mistaken you will need a compatible library (/system/lib/libandroid_servers.so) that supports displaying the battery in 1% increments.

Thank you nepotu for your immediate response.Prior to coming to MIUI my Milestone A853 was also running with Nadlabak's CM7.1.O-12.10.11(2.3.7) ROM.With this ROM I was able to get 1% battery step.So MIUI is also being based on CM7 and Milestone is also already equipped with this 1% facility,is there a way to obtain this in MIUI ALSO?Sorry for disturbing you once again.
With regards,
pnsdhrn.
You can try "porting" the lib I've mentioned from CM. In addition you can compare the build.prop from both ROM's to see if anything related to battery pops out and then you can update the MIUI file accordingly.
