Switching between MIUI and Cm7?

I want to switch between MIUI and CM7 and I was hoping that I could just flash each one whenever I want. Im currently running CM 7.0.3.1 for the HTC evo 4G if that helps. Thanks for any help

You can just make sure u wipe everything before u flash it and it should go alright

Make a backup of your current rom in recovery. Wipe factory/data, cache, davlik, flash the other rom, flash gapps, then make a backup of that rom. Then you can switch between the backups in recovery.

First of all thanks for the help guys but I think I didn't explain what I was looking for very well. I wa hoping that I wouldn't have to wipe and stuff. I wanted to just be able to keep my data folder and just have to flash the Rom each time without having to wipe and after restore

You'll have to do a full wipe whenever switching to a different ROM. The only time you do not have to do a full wipe is when you are changing nightlies or updating your current ROM.

Actually their both good! I started out w/ CM, the nightlies have a few bugs at times, but most of them eventually get resolved..!! At the moment though i use Evo Decks and/or MIUI, just because everything works w/ these roms and they agree w/ Tiamat kernels very well, fast and smooth and battery life is great!!! If you like changing the look of your phone often, then i'd go with MIUI coz of the theme manager...

I like CM7 but I kinda just reminds me of my old moto Droid but Miui thats just a turn in a new direction. I would choose MIUI over CM7 but both are great! Right now im running the rom from E prophecy, its just sense but im a flash-a-holic so I wanted to try it out.

switch to savage zens rom. Its super fast, stable, and fuzes elements of both MIUI and CM7.
I just switched to it from MIUI, and I ran that for a week after a month of using CM7, and I am in absolute love. I encourage anyone to give it a shot.

Just a heads up if you want 4G/Wimax MIUI doesn't have it yet. CM7 and Savaged-Zen do.

i switch between miui, cm7, and savaged-zen pretty often. the latest miui builds seem slow on my phone no matter what kernel, and the latest builds of savaged zen dont agree with my phone, so im stuck with cm7 for the moment which is not half bad

Well looks like nostalgia kicked in because it still prefer CM7 out of the 3 roms mentioned here unless anybody has any other AOSP rom suggestions

I like decks rom. Based off cm. Has it's benefits plus what he's trying to implement. Such as sprint dial codes

I love MIUI UI too

NEW!! Touchwiz4 themes 7/8/11

these themes are for ayoteddy's smooth maximus Touchwiz4 launcher app its not a themed rom
before u install one of these themes follow steps closely
1. put your theme on root of sd
2. go into preferences
3. go to themes and choose theme and select noone very important u do this before applying another theme press back and restart and save then go back into preferences themes
4. go to install theme choose the zip u just put on ur sd
5. go to choose theme and select the theme u just installed
6. press the back button and at the bottom it says restart and save
and congrads theme is applied
if ya have any suggestions on icons
let me know for what theme and what icon and ill try to update it

I went to system and app the deleted twlauncher and then installed the twlauncher 4.0.. then when go home and click twlauncher it opens and it give me an option to open gmail or email.

you flashed the launcher from CWM ? or manually installed/pushed the apk ?
im not sure what could be causing your problem but then i never tried the TW4 on Stock

I went into root expolore and then system/app/ and deleted the old twlauncher then I install the tw4.0 and when I open it ,it sends me to my email to send the dev a email.

Try downloading the one for CWM, flashing then wiping cache and fixing permissions in recovery

Saving icon placement between roms?

Is there an app that can save the placement of my icons before flashing a new rom? Instead of having to resetup my app shortcuts after restoring from titanium backup after flashing a new rom.

Depends on the ROMs, if both ROMs have ADW then there are backup options in ADW. But I don't think you can with sense roms.

Giving "My Backup Root" a try since it has an option to backup system settings. I figure the worst it can do is cause some fc errors & I'll have to reflash & do it manually.

system settings are not the same as launcher settings. 99.99999% sure it will not work properly, if you are going from one rom to a completely different rom. if all you are doing is updating from version 1 to version 2 of the same rom, as long as the rom uses the same base, you dont have to wipe data, which means your launcher, apps, and settings will remain intact
depends on your launcher though as already suggested.

Greatly dependent on the Rom and Launcher. MIUI backup offers built in desktop backup. And something like Adw would also offer this within the settings. Im not familiar with antithetical launcher bit I would imagine many of them offer this.

Did you switch between the same rom? or upgrade the rom? If not,did the roms have the same launchers?

Just know the were both gb based roms. Went from inspired ace to rumrunner 3 rc 2

[Q] Theming in realtime

Using APK Man. for awhile, however is there a way to theme in real time as in not having to flash the theme constantly to view the changes made?

Use the raver's MIUI rom and everything will be fine

Directions
1. SDCARD needs to be partitioned
2. Use RA-style recovery or twrp 2.2.2.0 only
3. Wipe everything including sd-ext
4. Flash ROM
5. If your SDEXT is formatted to ext4 you must flash another kernel (stock is lionfish kernel and it will not work with ext4)
During install you will get a directory called NOCTURNAL which will contain a few kernels you can flash use UW8 for ext4 support
6. Reboot phone
7. Phone will reboot twice (normal) third boot will take a long time
8. Setup and enjoy

Sense 3 is the base but all the sense was removed. So what you get is a aosp jelly bean launcher with the sense settings menu and quick settings. Screenies are uploading now check in post 3. Senseless 3.5 will be done today or tomorrow.

Are you on sprint? The ghost message fix should work if you do. I am on cricket so I don't get those messages. If you don't know about the fix I will try and dig it up for you.

3.5 will be even better swipe to clear notifications and low overhead without sense battery life should be beyond compare.
