well basically, the touch pro buttons are terrible. The ones at each corner are ok, but the left/right/up/down is terrible. I dont even bother using them, if i am playing some game or doing something full screen, i constantly hit the phone, or home buttons which minumize the program.
i was thinking... it may be possible to rather easily make some new face plate for the phone, maybe reuse teh central part which is the touch for the wheel.
but give it some actually normal buttons, i think touch pro has the worst buttons of any phone i have ever used.
does anyone have any pictures of what it looks like right under them?
Search for Touch Pro dismantling guide.
http://www.pdacenter.ru/razborka/htc-touch-pro/
check it out, half way down the pictures of the buttons
being able to see the layout of how they are actually pressed has now helped me alot at being able to hit them accuratly.
it also seems that iwth just a small adjustment they could be made much better.
however it kinda sucks how you have to take the entire phone appart to get to them... :/
I searched the forums a bit and did not find another thread pertaining to this, but I could be wrong. I am just wanting to hear comments about something I have been thinking about. The camera on our phone seems to be oddly placed. I always get a glimpse of my hand when I am taking video at least for a few seconds, and every now and then I will accidentally take a picture of my hand. So to those that have used the camera a bunch, what is your most comfortable/best way to hold the phone to operate the camera that unfortunately has no hardware camera button?
Index fingers up the top/bottom spines on the phone, thumb on the shutter.
Thumbs on the bottom, middle fingers on the top, index fingers free to update the screen
isnt there a mod,by which, you know....we can change the sleep button to take the picture or maybe one of the capcitive touch buttons.....????
I have the same problem. I guess just, "don't hold it that way."
In all seriousness, I just hold with my right and scoot my hand down the phone a little bit.
An Honest rant from an android lover:
So the GSIII was announced today and my first reaction when I saw the pictures was “oh god please let this be a joke” (P.S you’ll hear me comparing the GSIII to the One X a lot in this post, but that is because that’s another top dog of android right now.) This is my opinion about the GSIII. Yes it is true I do not have the device, but this is my reaction to the press shoots.
Some of the things that ticked me off the most:
The super ugly looking camera on the back, I don’t care much it freaking looks like a pebble. It’s my phone, not a freaking rock use to throw at someone. The GSII camera looked great; the nexus S camera look great, even the galaxy nexus camera look pretty decent. That freaking ugly looking lump of cancer just looks horrible. Take a look at the HTC one X camera; it looks great even if it sticks out a bit. Putting the speaker phone next to the camera? Seriously? I understand symmetry is important but that is just stupid (and did I mention it looks ugly?).
The long home button is a disaster. I don’t need a long home button; my fingers are not that fat. That thing sticks out like a sore thumb, an ugly cancer ridden sore thumb.
No on screen buttons
I never understood the point of soft touch buttons. Ever since I got my first android device I question the point of soft touch buttons. It’s not like one can physically feel them. From what I understand, why anyone would put soft touch keys in the days of 4.0 is to increase the usable screen size. But you screwed that up too. What is up with that space between the button and the screen? That just adds to the length of the phone. The One X has soft keys, but its evenly spaced and not a mile away from the screen. It also doesn’t stick out its home button.
That plastic looking shell is ugh… god save me. If HTC can do polycarbonate shell, why can’t you Samsung? Huh?
Everything an android specs geek loves in an ugly shell.
microSD, removable battery, NFC, Quad core processor, wireless charging, big screen with 720p display, thin and light weight. It’s (almost) everything anyone can ask for, but dammit Samsung the thing is ugly.
I never thought I would be the one to hate on the GSIII. As a proud owner of the Galaxy Nexus, I’m truly disappointed.
The camera isn't that ugly. It's alright.
I do agree on the spacing of the home button. It's just to much space that could have been removed or used for screen size

No need for a new thread, there's plenty of righteous hatred here already
Closed, post in proper section
Sorry if this is a type of discussion that has been done before a lot.
However, I am posting this thread since I cannot find one.
I want to know your thoughts about on screen buttons.
It seems like Americans love them and my fellow Koreans hate them (no wonder why Samsung is swaying away from onscreen buttons (or they might be doing it since they do not want burn-in on their Amoled devices))
I personally hate it on phones and love it on tablets.
On phones, it is limiting already small screen space and leave the bottom bezel space wasted by not effectively using it. Also, unlike Google claimed, it does not seem like on screen button allows manufacturers to reduce bottom bezel (In fact, Nexus 4 seems to have slight bigger bezel than that of Optimus G) and many of phones with onscreen buttons have bottom bezel large enough to accommodate hardware buttons or their bottom bezels are actually larger than those with hardware. Also I found On-screen buttons are not intuitive (I am not able to press it without looking at it) and often interfere with the actual screen (eg, games, keyboards, camera, etc...), and the weird aspect ratio (15:9....)
On the other hand, on tablet, I think it is wonderful idea since capacitive buttons on a bezel are annoying when holding the tablet horizontally.
So, what is your thoughts?
Please share them!
I used to hate the on screen button..only because I came from a phone that had "push" buttons. Now they are not so bad once you get used to it. True it does take up some of the screen, there are some custom roms that allow you to hide it until needed.
Regardless I'll probably always rather have a button than on screen.
My least favorite is the physical home button found on many Samsung devices (as well as all Apple devices). I prefer the capacitive buttons found on the sgh-t989 for example, but I don't mind the on screen buttons.

i dont like on screen buttons... wastage of space..that too when u only have 4.3" screen size
best are feather touch buttons...
I like having the hardware buttons personally since it does not detract from the screen size. I also like having a physical home button that I can press without having to look where I am pressing on the phone since I can feel it with my thumb.
I used to despise the idea of not having physical buttons. The idea seemed too foreign to me. But now that I have a Galaxy Nexus, I have grown to get used to the soft keys, and now I look forward to moving to all soft buttons...
The problem is why there is so thick bezel when there is no hardware/touch key.
Also it should increase the resolution height so the display ratio is still 16:9 excluding the onscreen button.

I like the idea to have no physical buttons. As long as I get 16:9 excluding the software buttons.

My sister just broke her moto x pure.
The display works, however the digitizer do not works correctly. Cannot post pictures because the wallpaper is containing private information and i cannot change it.
She cannot use the entire screen.
For example on the lockscreen, she cannot use the 8. And the other digits works very badly. So she cannot unlock her phone.
What should I replace (screen, digitizer...) and where should I find the replacement part ?
Thank for your help
You'll need to replace both the digitizer + display as they come together. If you are good at repairing phones, you can get the display from eBay or else send your phone to service center if you don't. I would suggest you to send it to the service center.
You could use a USB OTG cable to connect a mouse and thus regain control of the device in order to clear any sensitive information prior to having someone fix it. I have bought and fixed several Moto X pure edition phones with cracked screens for family members. Most of them did alright, but one phone had the screen replaced, then a cow stepped on it. Although it didn't crack, after a while parts of the screen stopped responding to touch. The screen I replaced it with has not been damaged at all, but parts of it have stopped responding to touch as well. Sometimes I wonder if these phones don't have a particularly weak and easily damaged screen. I sometimes get my replacement screens from GadgetFix. If you fix it yourself make absolutely sure that you get a screen+frame assembly. It's just a few dollars more, and totally worth it. And be careful when you transfer the speaker grill trim to the new screen that you don't press hard enough to crack the screen.
Thanks you, I think I will change the screen and the frame.

Is this what I should buy ?
The screen that you posted does not include the frame. I briefly looked on eBay; you might find one with the frame included for a few dollars less than gadget fix, but for simplicity I just linked this one. On the back side of the display you will notice the screw inserts. That is what you need to look for.

Could you point me to a tutorial or a video explaining how to change the screen
I believe that Ifixit has a whole teardown tutorial for this phone. If not just search YouTube for (phone model) screen replacement, watch it a time or two, and then pause it while you do each individual step. If the first video you watch doesn't explain things in an understandable manner just watch another one. It's been a while since I searched for one, but I think there are at least a few good ones.
