I got a guy tomorrow whose willing to do a straight swap, his great condition One S for my great condition Galaxy Nexus.
Since purchasing the Nexus a week ago, I've been annoyed severely by the yellow tint of the screen, 720p or not. I saw a demo model of the One S at a local retailer and the white's were much better then that of the G-Nex.
So what do you guys think, even trade, should I pull the trigger?
(Apologies for posting this both here and in general, Mods, please delete this thread as it is a duplicate)
Thanks.
do it !! if you dont like the nexus and you do like the one s, its a no brainer lol
and if its a straight swop with no money involved, you got nothing to lose really
Exactly, I would do it as well! There's no reason not to do it. But check the phone in detail and pay attention to
- coating (if it's the black one)
- display color from different pov, there are displays out there providing a whole rainbow
- sim cover (sometime there not fixed well)
Overall the One S is the superior phone.
I would..I love this phone. Gotta sari probably the best phone I have ever owned

i went back to my galaxy nexus, mainly due to the lack of AOSP options on the one-s right now. once there are some more ROMS available i will probably start using the One more often.
I made the trade, and I'm so happy I did, the One S is gorgeous! Man the device is so thin, such a pleasure to hold in the hand, and feels solid. As odd as it sounds, it made the Nexus feel thick and heavy! I'm also very happy with Sense over ICS, it's really a treat to use and finally, yes, finally, I've bought a phone that I can actually keep for the next year! I've gone through so many devices in the past 6 months it's made my head spin. This is the "One", as fitting as that sounds. Now, time to Zagg up the entire phone!

Glad you made the right choice just about zagg... I am not sure invisible shield is a good choice on this phone. What colour is yours BTW? I have seen a picture in the accessory threads that it looks awful with zagg. Just a simple tpu is the best I believe.

Thank you, I'm glad too. I never was quite able to warm up to the Nexus. Going from the Amaze, to the SGS2, to the Nexus, to the One S has been anything but fun, but ultimately, I've made the right decision in terms of the S having everything I desire and then some.
It's the grey version with the blue camera lining. Not sure what color this is. But it's really amazing feeling quality, I mean, I've never held a phone that felt this good in my life. It's also in mint condition, which is why I wanted to Zagg it up to ensure it stays that way. So you're suggesting not to use Zagg. Do you know of any other full body protectors that would be compatible? It's definitely something I want to do as soon as possible.
Thanks again for your help.

Totally agree with you. The phone is amazing, but the lack of AOSP is a killer. Hopefully things pick up next month.

I don't know other full body protector other than Zagg. Was wanting to get zagg for my grey one s as well cos had it on my wife's iPhone and it was not bad. But since there are two pieces on the back of one s it looks bad IMO with invisible shield being split into two.
I would suggest a case or the clear hard shell but the latter does not cover top and bottom so don't drop the phone.

I found a store (cart) in my local city Galleria called "Gadget Guard" that has a great full phone body protector. It doesn't covery the camera's, or speaker grills, and fits pretty good. The protector is also very durable and less "bumpy" over Zagg. It's smooth and feels natural. It also has a lifetime warranty which is great, so if it ever bubbles up or tears, they'll replace it for free.
The only problem is, I can't put a case over it because it might adjust and alter the protector. So that's a downfall, but otherwise, the entire phone is completely protected and it looks quite elegant imo.
Zagg has good and bad, I think. I had a screen protector on my sensation that I thought was better than zagg. Smooth and not so bumpy. And the plastic was like half as thin as a zagg shield. Personally, I have the skull candy case for my One S and am going sans screen protector. If i can think of the name of the screen protector that I prefer over Zagg, I'll let you know.
Edit:
I think this was the screen protector for my sensation:

I actually went to my local Mall and got a Gadget Guard installed on the entire phone. The lady who was installing it did a really good job, no bubbles AT ALL, no dust particles, and it goes all around the phone without compromising the camera, speaker grills, and is as tight fitted as can be without the ridges that Zagg sometimes causes. Plus it's great on detracting fingerprints.
Overall happy with it. Overall happy all together that I traded my G-Nexus for this amazing device (no disrespect to the HTC Amaze ). I'm one of the people who enjoy Sense and 4.0 on top of ICS has been a significant upgrade over 3.0 over GB. I'm still on the fence with rooting/installing a rom, but I do so with every phone I've owned so I'm sure the One S won't be any different. I'm just enjoying the stock experience so much as is.
Thanks again for your help.
To be honest, I think I am going to go to the mall today to put the screen protector on it as well. I may have found the store in Minnesota where I live. But ironically, I have been debating on going to the galaxy nexus from the One S, lol. The draw for me is the slightly larger screen and where the headphone jack and micro usb port are located. I like that they are on the bottom.

The guy who traded his One S for my Galaxy Nexus was very happy. He had every intention to trade and figured it was an equal deal, I agreed.
It's all a matter of taste, if you like the bigger screen, higher res, stock ICS with quicker updates, Nexus it is.
If you prefer a somewhat smaller, but just as vibrant screen, better processor, better camera, better speaker, go with the One S.
Both have their advantages and both are great, I just think I had a somewhat defective Galaxy Nexus unit with a really awful blue/yellow tint issue with the screen. My eyes were never able to get used to it no matter how much I tried. And I've had a Galaxy S2, which was perfectly fine and vibrant to the core. But the Nexus' white's were just totally and completely off. It's like someone put a blueish yellowish filter screen on top of the phone prior to shipping.
I flashed Franco.Kernel to change the Gamma and RGB levels, but nothing, and I mean nothing helped. I tried every single possible combination, and it was always off.
Anyone here have a tough time deciding which color to get? I chose the white but am still not sure yet if I should have a chosen the grey. I love the look of the white phone from the back, but the grey looks really good with anything black on the screen (keyboard, apps with mostly black ui, music player & Pandora). Also, which really made me ultimately choose the white is some people are reporting that if the grey phone gets scuffed it wears out the finish and your can see glossy marks.
This was a hard decision for me. It makes it that much harder that I have severe OCD
So did you guys have to make a decision on which one to get or did you have your heart set on a white or grey one from the beginning? Just curious.
I decided to get the white one. They had plenty of grey ones in stock but I decided to wait for the white one since they were sold out. Should be picking it up tomorrow.

I was in the AT&T store for literally 2 hours deciding which one to get. A few employees there thought it was hilarious lol. I ended up with the grey one. While I do think the white one is sexy as hell, I think over time it will get marked up more than the grey, especially since I don't like using a case except for when I'm at work. I still have 27 days to decide but I'll most likely stick with grey, which I still think is bad ass looking. Lets face it, we have hands down the best looking phone out right now no matter which color it is.
Yea I got pretty lucky. There are like 7-8 AT&T stores within like 30 miles of where I live and every one was sold old except for two. One had like 2-3 grey ones but no white and the other, it was odd, had a pretty good stock of both.
I too took forever trying to decide, but went with the white.
It's dead sexy!!!!!
Took my white one back Fri. and picked up the grey one. I too don't use a case and was afraid of it getting too dirty.
I went with the grey after seeing the amount of staining from blue jeans with the white model.

White all the way..took a little decision making lol but I've always had black or grey..and with bodyguards full body skin I don't think it will ever get dingy or dirty or scratched lol

I went with the grey.
* I don't use a case (was afraid white would dirty)
* grey seemed more manly
* white seems just trendy
* white reminds me of iPhone or Apple devices
* white looks more like a plastic toy than a serious piece of tech
* white makes the phone look bigger - grey looks slender
Don't get me wrong it still was a tough decision for me. I liked how the white accentuated the curved screen edges.

I always get black phones so I wanted to switch it up. I rarely like white on phones but something about the One X in white had me drooling.
I've made my decision and don't regret it one bit.

I loved my white 4s and now I love my white one x
Had a white iPhone 4S for a long time. The white is extremely distracting to me, granted the white One X doesn't include the glass, but I just enjoyed how the camera's ring of plastic and the HTC logo were closer in color than the contrast of the silver/white thing going on with the white model, even though to me from the side the white model looked liked this car: http://images.psxextreme.com/wallpapers/ps3/white_lamborghini_615.jpg
Still, dark grey just felt like more of my thing.
i went with the grey One X, i was contemplating on getting the white one but the screen surround on the white one was black which was a bit of a turn off imo
So I went with the grey since the screen surround matched the grey better then the white.
Being that I got my mother and fiance a white one recently, it was almost my duty to go grey. It seems like grey will be the less popular color and it looks great with the matte finish. The sides of the white were much more noticeably shiney than on the grey model.

Didn't even look at the grey one. Saw the white one and it was love at first sight!

Normally I go with black phones, this is the first phone I've been even remotely interested in getting in white. So I did. I'm crossing my fingers that it won't get too dirty - or worse yet stained - because I don't use a case, but I've heard that polycarbonate casings are pretty easy to clean so I have my hopes up.
If it starts to get dirty and dingy I'll get a case lol
White was a no brainer for me. My only issue is my OCD with cases now, most cases look better with the grey one cept the speck candyshell that came white but i hated it as well
Why cant otterbox commuter make a white version of their case? I hate the white trim showing and not making the overall look cohesive

Tough decision but I knew ultimately I'd be happier with the grey. The white looks a little more feminine, and it reminded me of Eva from wall-e. Lol, Evita/Eva...coincidence?

Not to be an ass, but if you're really particular about things, it doesn't mean that you have OCD.
As someone who has a sibling who is truly very affected by OCD and whose mom is a psychologist, I've learned that OCD is not being particular about things. It's doing irrational things like twisting doorknobs a certain way or having to touch things in a certain way before you can pick them off of a store shelf. It's all about routines and being afraid of what happens if you don't follow those routines, not being picky about your gadgets.
I'm just curious about how I might go about changing the pebble blue housing to the white housing, if I were to purchase the parts somewhere. I've tried locating people in my area who might be interested in trading with me, but it's been futile. Obviously, I wouldn't be tearing the phone apart by myself, but does anyone know of any places that might do something like this, like Best Buy/Geek Squad?
I think it's probably impossible to change anything other than the backplate. And if it was possible it's probably a lot of expensive work that's not worth it.
Geek Squad would not have the slightest clue on how to go about that. I'm basing this off of the few times I've had them try to do anything. Their best advice was "battery pull, reboot." "What do you mean it's not fixed!?"
I'm assuming the front bezel would come off minus the screen, but turn your phone and look at the buttons, and the side bezel. All blue. It's just too much to easily replace. My .02

I think I would try to sell it on Ebay for all I could get and then use the money to get a white one. You'd probably have a lot more reliable phone in the end this way. You're looking at some major surgery to do the front cover, IMHO.
You can replace the battery cover, and they have screen covers that will change the color on the front, if you're willing to go that route. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822228
ur better off selling the blue one on ebay and turning around and buying a white one
The home button and battery cover would be cheap and simple however the front part would be expensive as I believe the colored part (under the glass) is part of the digitizer and screen which is over $100 for a replacement.
I didn't realize that the colored screen protectors were available, I may just have to give those a go! And as far as selling it on EBay goes, I most certainly would. My only problem being, that I don't have a phone I could use in the meantime!

do what I did
I got Verizon to send me an S III for free, because I had gotten 6 Nexus warranty swaps, all with the dreaded purple screens
I asked for white.
I didn't really want white, about 10 minutes after I ordered it I realized this.
I called back and they already sent me the phone. I was kinda pissed....
SO when it arrived, I called back. "You sent me the WRONG color!"
lol I'm getting my blue one later today. They already make enough money and get enough from me every month!
I am trying to find a replacment back for my S4. I have the black version and I really like the color of the front but not the pattern on the back. I would like to find a replacement that matches the front without the pattern. I have found some some various ones, but I cant tell how closely they match the front. I was hoping that some one has purchased a back like this. If anyone has, let me know where you got it.

There are a hundred of them on Amazon. Just read the reviews for each.
The common answers you will see are that aluminum plates look really nice but kill the radio signal and NFC signal.
For the plastic ones they come in every color of the rainbow. Some fit great, some don't. But they are usually like $1 so if one doesn't work, just try a different one.
I spent quite a bit of time looking, which is why I came here. I was hoping to see if someone else has already gone through the same thing. It seems to me like there are a million aluminum backs but not very many plastic ones. You are correct that they are fairly cheap, but with shipping and everything they are on average around $5. This does add up after a few, and I would rather not have a stack of unused $5 backs sitting around. Its fine if it doesn't exist, I just figure I would see. I trust peoples real experience over pictures and descriptions.

The real people feedback from Amazon is the best you're going to get on the internet. In 10 years it's rarely let me down.
One backplate I can guarentee will fit perfect are the colored varients for Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T. Sprint as a Purple S4, At&t has a blue one and a red one, and Verizon for some strange reason, has a brown one.
On the actual colored phones the front is purple, blue, or brown as well. But the backplates are colored as well and are stock Samsung. I got a purple backplate on ebay that was made for the Sprint varient. Works great. Looks awesome. Cost me like $8 with shipping. They are not available on Amazon. But they are readily available on eBay. Make sure it's from a US based seller and that the picture shows the SAMSUNG or carrier logo on the back. Otherwise god only knows what you're getting from en ebay seller.
Purple shows the SAMSUNG logo for the Sprint model
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-SAMSUNG...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item58a754b48f
Red shows the AT&T globe for their model
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Battery-Doo...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item3a8741a664
Veirzon probably brands their as well but I didnt' look up the brown one.
You get the idea....
The only catch is that they have the same checkered pattern in the color that the black one you have now has. But it's not as noticible with the colors.
Or you can get a stock white battery door and it won't have the pattern and will be plain white.
The 6 pack on Amazon fits extremely well and has solid black. PM me If you want mine. I wanted the Girly colors.

I hear a lot of crap, even among Google fans, about the N5 not being so great looking. I'm having trouble believing I'm the only person who thinks this device (black version without a case) is incredibly sexy... I absolutely love how minimalist it looks and how solid it feels. It doesn't look like a try-hard device. Previously the sexiest device award went to the white iPhone 4s, and then to the white S4, and then to the iPhone 5c, so I'm excited to finally have the world's sexiest phone be both a black device AND Nexus device.
I like the looks of it for sure. It might not be THE nicest looking phone out there, but it's nowhere near ugly.
I like the looks from the back but from the front it looks pretty slapped together. Just a piece of glass stuck into a body. I wish there was some sort of chamfer to the front edges.
I completely agree with you, although personally Im a huge fan of the htc one with the front facing speakers. From a visual standpoint as well as a functionality stand point I wouldnt mind see that look. Then again I also wouldnt mind seeing an aluminum body but overall, this phone IS sexy

My dream design is just a generic black monolith slate. But they did manage to throw in some subtle curves here without going overboard or looking to busy or gaudy or detracting from the minimalism. I suppose they could have done a chamfered front edge, but then I'd expect them to ditch the subtle curve on the back. You know, one or the other; curved back or chamfered front edge, but one of the surfaces needs to be flat (incidentally, Apple got this right with iPhone 5/5s, although that's about all they got right with that particular design).

Yes. I want to have sex with it.
It's sexy because it's not trying to be. Less is more! Modesty win!
The fact that it is so simple and plain is what makes it so sexy. Find it funny that a lot of reviews point that out as a negative but I have more people asking me about this phone when I put it down.

It's definitely sexy. I hated the look of the N4. It was just so... Squarish. I like that this one has a taller and thinner profile. I had a white one to start, after breaking that one I went with the Black and I actually like the black better. I may try to add some color to the nexus logo on the back.
