Hello all,
Recent owner, second-time poster!
I am having two connection specific issues that I am hoping to get a clear answer on.
First I cannot make HTC Home 1.5 (Emu's build) connect to the weather server with the T mobile 216.155.165.50:8080 proxy port open. Is there a workaround available for this? Interestingly, it works just fine to update over active sync!
The related question, an active sync one, is that pIE will not connect to the web when I am sync'ed up, even though its apparent that HTC Home Weather can! PIE works fine over GPRS (T-Mobile $6 plan) or WiFi.
I have already trolled around in the registry looking for a weather-related IP or proxy setting. There are obvious settings for location, but not for anything connection related.
I am running Jaguar 4.0b with HTC Home 1.5 and Home customizer Beta5. I purchased and installed the whole SK Toolkit (great program, worth the money). I also have more player and Voice Dialer.
This is my first ever smart phone, and I am trying to learn quickly. Thanks, all!
I'm having a similar problem with HTC Home weather and my t-mobile GPRS connection. I'm running XDA Mobile 6 R5 though. Everything works fine over WiFi but not with GPRS. Internet Explorer works over GPRS but drags its knuckles when connecting, it takes a few minutes once the connection is initiated. I've tried both settings for T-mobile data and neither works real well.

I have a familiar issue with Orange. All works fine except the weather update using Orange World GPRS.
Where can I change the connection that HTC Home uses to get the weather info???
I just got the T-Zones plan for $5.99/month and put in the proxy settings with the 8080 port for connections, Internet explorer works fine (but slow obviously), but no other program that uses the internet seems to work.. maybe its the settings? maybe the program has to use the proxy as well? any thoughts?
I believe the weather program may be timing out too fast. Dunno weather it's a registry entry or what that changes the settings for it. Or if it's even changable. Everything else works great over GPRS just not HTC Home Weather. Although it works fine over WiFi.

anyone ever have any luck with the weather downloading over proxy?
i have never been able to have the weather update from the tmobile proxy, I think it has something to do with some blocked port or something of the sort. I have looked for months for a workaround, only solution is to upgrade from the 5.99 plan to the full internet plan and it will work, but that wont happen everything connects fine except htc weather and some other application i had on my wizaed cant remember right now.
if you guys did some homework and did a search of the forums for specifically: htc home proxy, you would find the htc home proxy patch which lets you do exactly what your asking
thanks i found it and it works

the fix is easy. remove that old proxy and change your wap to epc.tmobile.com.

Hi,
Ich have one question.
I got my HTC HD2 on yesterday and it's a really nice device but there's one thing I don't like: If I want to go into internet by wlan, i always have to switch off the mobile phone network, because if i don't do that the browser will use the mobile phone network.
I hope someone understand me and find a solution to make the browser using my wlan while the mobile phone network is switched on.
Flo
P.S.: I'm sorry about my english
By Default, WIFI takes priority when it's on so you don't use your data connection.

But when the phone is on standby.. in the background it starts up the data connection on the phone.. for automatic downloads like email, weather etc..
instead of using the wifi.. I had manually turned the data connection off from the settings.. even then the same thing..
any help.
hmm.. i would recommend using nodata. search for it.. its a program that will allow you to turn off mobile internet and use only wifi.. if that what your after?
Hey guys I dont know how many of you were familliar with Energy Roms on the HD2, but they came with a program called Data Controller which enabled us to select what data will and will not be used. (MMS, Internet, 3g, etc)
Is there an app like this for Windows Phone 7 or is it even possible to develop?
I have my Data Connection and 3g options disabled to conserve my battery (and i live in a dead zone for tmobile so having them on is pointless) but when thats off i cant send MMS at all.
I'm using a HD7
Ever since my htc hd7 upgraded to mango, whether its beta or the rtm,
I experience battery drain even thought i turned off location, wifi and push email.
Today i meddled around with the cellular settings and found out that the cellular settings as u know one in the wp7 settings , the other is the HTC connection app.
So i wen to edit APN and out in a fake apn in the settings, and the phone could not connect to 3G . Then immediately went to the HTC connection hub to set up.
Then went back to settings and discovered the wp7 settings shows a tap to select which means its the cellular signal is not connected using the wp7 settings way.
Could there be a battery drain is possibly because the phone makes multiple connections 1) HTC Connection hub 2) wp7 native settings?
Since my batt is. Okay ow when i did this, i need to full charge and monitor it later.
If anyone has any useful info about this, pls contribute.
