[Q] Any Reason to Not Buy Samsung I9000? - General Topics

I am looking to buy the Samsung i9000 and have a few questions.
1. I know that there have been problems with the GPS in the Samsung i9000. Have the GPS problems been resolved?
2. Can this phone be upgraded to Froyo (sorry if this is a noob question - I'm a Win6.5 user)?
3. Is there a phone coming out in the next couple of months that is worth waiting for?
4. Are there any other reasons to not buy this phone?
Thanks.

[Q] Exchange old phone with newer model?

hello everybody!
i have a question..
firstly, you must know that i am owner of a Samsung Galaxy Note N7000. I bought it two months ago. now, Samsung has released the new Galaxy Note 2.. And here is my question, Can i exchange my Galaxy Note and some money for a Galaxy Note 2? I googled it and i didnt't found anything, but, on some galaxy note 2 reviews, i see some comments like "I cant wait note 2 go on market, so i exchange my galaxy note n7000 with it!
is that possible? thanks for all and really sorry for my bad english!
question : do you really need a note 2? what this new phone can do for you differently than the old?
phone: sgs2 GT-I9100
kernel : dorimanx 5.79beta
main rom: rr 2.7
second rom: cm 9.1
baseband: I9100XXLQ6
Specs are slightly better but I wouldn't get the note 2 right away, unless it had way better specs.
sent from my captivate glide running ICS (NardROM 0.4 Rooted)
i want the note 2 for quad core and 2gb ram which are far more better than galaxy note 1..i just wanna know if i can exchange mine note for the new !
bump. none has the answer to my question?
Dude why don't you go back to the store and ask it there if you're lucky they'll exchange it but i really think they won't
don't forget to hit the thanks button:d

The problem is that their English is worse than yours. "I cant wait note 2 go on market, so i exchange my galaxy note n7000 with it!" is actually "I cant wait note 2 go on market, so i can sell my galaxy note n7000 and buy the Note 2!"
As a former cellphone store owner, I can tell you that unless you were a very good customer (maybe you'd been upgrading phones with me for 10 years), I wouldn't exchange a phone with you. And if I did you wouldn't like how little I'd give you for yours, even if it's only 2 months old. It's used and I have to sell it as used, so it's not worth very much to me.
Selling it privately will get you a lot more money. (A dealer might give you US$50 for it, and I'd give you that much too. Of course a dealer might tell you he's giving you more for it, but then charge you full list price - or even more - for the Note 2.)

[Q] SGS Advance gt I9070 for 8gb Galaxy Nexus from untrusted store

Well I've been planning to swap my 1 month used S Advance GT i9070 for a Brand New 8gb Galaxy Nexus from a untrusted store at GreenHills. The jellybean update rumours for GT i9070 might not be true and if it's true it will be months, if there will be a official announcement from samsung will i guess i'll stick with GT i9070 but for now i doubt the other sources that release the skipping ics update to jellybean. So what do you think? Should i go for it or should i just wait for the update for my current phone? I doubt the Galaxy Nexus cause i've already looked everywhere but all i can find are untrusted shops that sells a Galaxy Nexus and i don't have any idea if it's already available here in philippines. So any suggestions? Thanks!
Did you know all those stalls in Greenhills change their location around every month? Makes you think twice about making a big purchase. Remember, they will never do any deal if they can't make a decent profit.

all i saw it had a custom rom installed it had a samsung touch wiz ui custom rom and storage had only 6.44gb available
That means it's a Chinese knock-off, not a real Nexus. At least you knew enough to check the free space.

[Q] which phone is better for customization?

I am upgrading my Galaxy S3, which I love and was wondering which would be a better upgrade. It's kind of hard nowadays having so many to chose from. I am mainly interested in constant flashing with new ROM's (almost weekly) just to see which one I like more and a decent battery life. Also, since my hands a not huge, I am not considering any of the bigger models.
Right now I am between those 4 (the last one is a future release and I an not sure it's worth the wait since it will be way too expensive):
1. Samsung Galaxy S4
2. Google Nexus 5
3. HTC One
4. Samsung Galaxy S5
Any suggestions or simply a pool answer are appreciated. Thanks.

Honestly, I have found the Nexus 5 to be the easiest phone I have ever unlocked and rooted. There is a lot of dedicated fellows working on ROMs for it, but even the stock ROM is amazing.
If you want great specs and barely any restrictions, go Nexus 5.

[Q] Q: Going to get a Gear 2 ......should I?

Ok, so I am a sammy fan and have had samsung products since the Omnia.
Currently on an S5 (from an S, S2, S4 ...) and want a smart watch.
Drooled over what you guys were doing with the original gear but never got one.
Now I have an opportunity to get the Gear 2. I've looked at Moto 360 and LG R but they dont "do much".
So I am gonna buy a Gear 2 today but would love it if you guys could answer a couple of questions which I havent found the answer to on the interweb.
- I know the Gear 2 is Tizen but can it still run Android apps?
- Are there many apps (decent ones) for it?
- How customizable is it compared to the original gear?
- Are there custom ROM's for it?
Basically what I'd like to know is, if I buy this watch (6 months after release) will I still be customizing it in a year?
Thank you in advance.

Looking for Help and suggestions.

Hello,
First a litttle background (skip to the 2nd paragraph for the question): My first experience with Android and XDA came with the Galaxy S5... On AT&T. As you know, its not the most friendly phone when it comes to the development community but thanks to Safestrap, I was at least able to do some tweaking. But, shortly after I bought it, the Note 4 was released and I immediately wanted it... it became my dream phone. But, of course, on AT&T, its locked down just like the S5 (maybe even more so?). I then bought a Tab S 8.4 and had a much better experience with being able to customize the tablet how I wanted. When it came time to upgrade, I was going to buy the Nexus 6 so I could have complete freedom and once my upgrade date came, both AT&T and Best Buy both promptly stopped selling the Nexus 6. So, I decided to just say screw it, and bought the Note 5. While its a fast phone and Touchwiz is night and day better on it than it was on my S5, I really miss my root.
So, here's my question: I have been monitoring the forums and have seen that AT&T users with the Galaxy S6/S6 Edge and the LG G4 have been able to successfully root. Ironically, I almost bought the G$, but bought the Note b/c of my desire for the Note 4. Anyway, if I were to buy a S6 Edge or G4 at Best Buy today, would it come with the stock firmware that is rootable (with Pingpong for the Samsung or flashing with the LG) or will they have been updated to one of the newer un-rootable firmwares? I'm not trying to get into an OEM debate here, I just want the best Android experience possible in my current situation and, unfortunately, that means buying an AT&T phone. I don't know if it matters, but If I buy the G4, it would be the silver H810 as I'd buy the leather back anyway and if I buy the S6Edge, it would be gold version with model number of SM-G925AZDAATT.
Thanks for reading and for any advice you can give!
PS.. There may be other rootable AT&T phones I don't know about and I'm open to them as well but at this point, I'm restricted to buying an AT&T phone through Best Buy. Thanks again!
Go with G4 I might be a little subjective but just start with the removable battery and micro sd card...
There's a thread for this.
