[Q] Force Close error on Backflip - General Questions and Answers

Few days ago my phone started acting funny and would not respond to touch. So I rebooted (off -remove battery -on) but now it comes up with :
"Sorry ! Application Home (in process com.motorola.blur.home) is not responding." <Force Close>, <Wait>...Other times it comes with similar error related to Blur services. I noticed when I turn off WiFi it will start working normal again but without Net access. I got this phone with AT&T in US but now I am using it with another Carrier. Could this be the problem? I am hoping the 2.1 upgrade will solve my problem but not sure.

MDA Compact IV Can't Turn Wi-Fi On

Hi guys, now something odd is going on with my MDA Compact IV (aka Touch Diamond). With the original T-Mobile ROM I could connect to Wi-Fi fine. When I upgraded to Dutty 2.6 ROM I could still connect fine but after a couple of weeks it stopped connecting for no reason I could see. When I mean it stopped connecting, basically, when I click the "Turn on Wi-Fi" option, the little spinny ball pops up to show you its trying to do something but then nothing - it stays unticked and there is NO error message. I have tried setting power mode to best performance and changing the wifi to connecting between "The Internet" and "Work" - the two options available (I think it used to work on the default Work settings) - but it still doesn't work. I just upgraded to Dutty 2.9 and it does exactly the same thing - no error message so I am not sure how I am supposed to diagnose the problem!
Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated!
Hi,
I'm having the same issue with the same device.
I already reverted back to stock spl/rom/radio but the problem still remains in every rom i try.
The only solution is to get out the battery for at least 10 minutes and try again.
It should work until it stops again.
Thanks for the message, I just managed to fix it on mine about 5 minutes ago. In the end, I cleared my internal storage and hard reset it and it finally worked. That is after trying various ROMS/Radios. Lets see how long it lasts....
Hi,
I'm having the same issue now... It just started yesterday - And I have no clue - except, that I recently have used the device connecting my laptop using internet sharing...
Any clue someone? don't want to hard-reset...
Thanks!! J

[Q] wifi bug

please help, i have very annoying problem my wifi act very strange if i turn on phone and turn on wifi on phone it function normally, and when i turn of wifi on phone it turn off normally but then when i try to turn on again its not function anymore it force close, wifi turn off by itself i mustr reboot the phone to make it function again, please help ( ps i use stock rom v21 b and then 21d but the problem still there, internet from 3g work perfectly, and sorry about my english )
it happens i think for all, the reason is unkonw but all I can tell it's related to the settings, if you try to enter wifi settings you'll get a force close, the only way to fix it is to restart the phone.
I've noticed that this issue causes the battery to drain faster
I posted same issue but the thread name wasn't so clear.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1519436
I still haven't found the solution so have kept the wifi on always on but now it reboots from time to time (froyo using acura newline v3 o/c rom).
As alankstiyo said above it drains the battery in matter of minutes. If you have Cpu usage program you can check and will see one process tiwlan_wq using 48% of cpu all the time till battery dies.
I use a widget and when it dies, the light turns into a faded green that way I know that it has crashed, maybe LG doesn't even know about it or they know but don't want to do anything
LG has effed up on this phone on so many fronts they just recently acknowledged about ghost call issue. I doubt they'll be bothered to look in this issue as they keep churning out phone after phone. For me this was the first and last LG phone.
NExt one SGIII..
true, I've seen a lot of announcements, prada, 3x 3dmx but nothing regarding the "old" phones
it's like if they forget about their own existence or customers, I'm deciding this week or month to buy a xperia s or not, so bye bye o3d (after just 6 months or so)

[Q] Delayed push notifications - anyone else having this issue?

I previously had a Samsung Galaxy S3 that ran Android 4.1.2. Push notifications would come through pretty much instantly.
Now that I have my Nexus 5, I'm noticing that push notificiations are delayed. For example, I might receive an email on my PC saying that someone has posted on my Facebook timeline, but a notification doesn't pop up on my phone for 10-15 minutes later. Sometimes I get no notifications for a while because they're delayed, then the notification sound on my phone will go off 3 or 4 times in a row as a bunch of notifications from different apps have all arrived at once.
Also, sometimes I got no notification at all. For instance, I sold an item on eBay and usually I would get a notification that it has sold. On this particular occasion, no notification appeared. The same has happened with Facebook. Sometimes I will go to Facebook and find that a friend has written on my timeline, yet I didn't receive a notification about it on the phone.
I Googled this issue and found it was a problem that plagued the Nexus 4, so I'm wondering if it also affects the Nexus 5 too. Does anyone else have this issue with the Nexus 5? Is there any fix for it?
I get this too, but not very often. Most of the time I find my phone gets notifications before my PC or other phone does. But there are occasions, particularly when I'm not on WiFi, when I either get delayed notifications, or I won't get them at all, until I reconnect to WiFi.
It's been happening to me, including when I was running totally stock w/ locked bootloader. I'm on Sprint. Not sure if it's a data issue or phone issue.
Turning off wifi optimization solved my delayed corporate email (outlook) notification.
Thanks for the replies.
I'm having this issue while connected to Wi-Fi, although I haven't tested to see if the issue occurs via my mobile network as well. I have tried 2 factory resets, but that didn't fix it.
It's almost like, when the screen is off and the phone sleeps, it loses the ability to receive push notifications, but then after a while it suddenly regains it and that causes a bunch of notifications to arrive at once.
I've contacted Google support about it, so I'll see what they say.

Any update on this? What did they say? I have the same problem and it's driving me crazy.. I came from GS3 and notifications were instantaneous... on this one I have to open lets say Whatsapp every other minute to check if someone sent me a message... and even sometimes I open the app and it takes some time for the internet to "wake up" and finally refresh the app... it sucks... I would return my phone if this can't be fixed easily..
So any update or solution on this would be gratly appreciated. Thanks

Google ended up offering me a replacement phone, but that didn't go too well. The new phone they sent wouldn't connect to my Wi-Fi network, so I contacted them to return it but they told me I had to return my original phone, get another replacement, and only then could I return the second one. Obviously, each time they sent out a phone they were putting holds on my credit card for £xxx so in the end I phoned up and complained. To cut a long story short, I still have the original phone and I haven't decided what to do yet.

Interesting, I have just turned this off on mine too to see.
I only get delays when I am connected to my home wifi (2.4 or 5GHz). Maybe it is because I only have a 4mb ADSL connection ...
I will check tonight if that fixes it and/or also try the PNF app.
any update or fix on this yet? this is driving me mad, every time I get a notification on twitter or my email my idol picks it up first and my phone gets it 8-9 minutes later even if I'm using it at that moment, anybody else get the delay even while using the device?
All of a sudden I have started facing this problem since the past few days
Yeah..same here

I am using Moto g and I think its an issue with KitKat rather than with the hardware or the network. My push notifications are being delayed and that wasnt the case with JB 4.2 on my earlier phones.
Very frustrating
I've not been getting google hangouts messages until 20-30 mins later. sometimes i never get a notification, but if i check hangouts i see a new message. Another times i only get the message on the computer, but never on the phone. if i go and clear the app data new messages show up
My push notifications were coming through very quickly up until 2 weeks ago. I have not changed devices, carriers, or installed any new apps. One day they were coming through fine, now they are delayed by up to 30 minutes. My phone has not installed any OS updates either.
I have factory reset my phone, once restoring from cloud, the other not restoring at all and setting up the phone from scratch. This is really irritating. It does it on mobile networks or wifi.
Moto G is frustrating
It's frustrating.
I searched google without obtaining a solution. Moto G and sometimes I get delayed notifications and not others.
Facebook does not even make the notifications. In Whatsapp I have to open it every 2 minutes to see if someone has written. What not to do. I'm bored with this phone.
No solution or google and motorola solve it. Cursed kitkat!
Anything new? This problem is old and comes from the Nexus 4. I really am very sad about it, not PNF solving this.
I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. It definitely started after i upgraded my s2 to kitkat rom back in december. At first i thought it had to do with the PM sleep modes but none of them make a bit of difference. Ive goggled it to death and this thread is the only one ive found.
Currently im going to try the suggestion on the first page to turn off wifi optimization as my phone only does this on wifi. when i use mobile data everything works as expected
EDIT: WIFI optimization makes no difference
Push Notifications
I have faced this problem on both my S4 and S5 on sprint. I think it has to do with sprint closing open tcp connections prematurely, which causes push notifications to fail.
Running the app Root-Push Notifications Fixer, or Unrooted version has worked for me. The root version seems to be more reliable.

Hey man I'm just wondering, does your problem persist on Wi-Fi and mobile data? I have a thread over in i777 thread about this issue. Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2717998

I only experienced the problem over sprint's network.

Galaxy S6 does not turn on mobile data. Has anyone heard/solved this issue before ?

Hey everyone !
Like it says in the title , my mobile data is not working. As I open the drop down menu and tap the mobile data icon ,it lights up as though it is on but there is no connection sign in the top right corner , no 4G no nothing. I have been googling around quite a bit an I saw people with the same issue but as far as I know it was not resolved.
A little backstory : I updated to marshmallow 6.0.1 with no issues and after a week or so decided to root. ( my first time ) All went ok and I had root access , downloaded a few apps USING MOBILE DATA and then entered TWRP recovery and it got stuck in a bootloop, wouldn't leave TWRP. ( I assume that's when I should of installed a custom ROM.. ? )
Anyway I got anxious and thought I am better off going stock because apparently I have no idea what I'm doing .
Downloaded the stock firmware for my model and flashed it and voilah it works.
I was relieved. But then I noticed that my mobile data is not working. I can make calls and send messages and Wi-FI works perfect : but not mobile data.
( Don't know if this is relevant at all but similar thing happened with the power saving mode , I tapped the icon and it should have been "on" but it wasn't which is weird. By the way yesterday it started working normal again , better call scooby and the gang to solve that mystery eh ? )
So this is what I tried to fix the problem : - Rebooted. - Rebooted in safe mode. - Resetting APN. - Wiping cache. - Factory reset.
The issue still persisted. I even went to the network provider and they told me that everything should be "ok" as I suspected.
Now I am no expert but the only logical explanation would be a hardware issue... ? The tinfoil hat wearer in me is whispering that when you tripped your knox it took out something else with it though that wouldn't explain why it worked after rooting but not after flashing back to stock.
What is the point in having a smartphone if I can not access the internet on the go ? It sucks because I am just about to start studying so I will not be able to afford a new phone for quite a while...
So what are your thoughts guys ? I still have hope that there is someone out there who can help me and many others who have encountered this issue

Cheers in advance !

Question Wifi suddenly stopped working

Today suddenly my wifi stopped working. It automatically switched to 4G. That has happened before so i tried accessing my wifi settings, but when opening wifi settings i saw a black screen and got the message that settings stopped working. I tried rebooting the phone about 5 times. I tried turning on and off planemode. Even combined that with the rebooting but nothing seems to fix it. Other settings are working fine, but they are really really slow. I am planning on doing a factory reset, but maybe there is an easy fix i didn't think about.
It is running on miui 13.0.1.0 global version. I live in the EU. The phone is almost a year old.
I hope somebody can help me with this problem.

If you haven't managed to "manipulate" the software, be it Rom, kernel or install unknown APKs, I think that the factory reset will not help, since it seems to be a hardware problem.
