I have a unlocked Att Tilt that I got December 31st 2008 that has been hardspld (unlocked). I'm bored with it and I'm looking to get another phone/UMPC with a keyboard. I like the shift and advantage but they look too expensive. I'd be willing to trade for a Fuze (touch pro). I'm located in Indiana, USA.

I will soon move to La Jolla, San Diego, to study and was thinking about buying a new cell phone. I was looking at either iPhone or HTC HD2 with some kind of contract. However, I only know AT&T and they only have the iPhone with a 2-year contract. Since my stay only will last for six months, 2-year is way too long time to be cuffed to a contract. Where is the cheapest place to buy a iPhone? And what about the HTC HD2? Is it possible to sign a 6-months contract which is the standard duration of a contract here in Denmark.

Try buying a pre-paid (no contract) iphonie at at&t. The HD2 has not been released in the States, and a Euro unlocked one will not get 3G here!

It is not so much a question of iPhone vs. HTC HD2 since my girlfriend is going for the iPhone and I definitely go for the HTC HD2, but since we are both going to San Diego we need to find the cheapest place.
I have been searching AT&T´s homepage and it looks like the iPhone cannot be bought as pre-paid. Are there any other big companies in the US that sell prepaid phones or with contracts less than 2-years?
Another thing, when I read about cell phones in the US I get the understanding that only iPhone has 3G in the US? Is that really true? Is 3G not so widely used in the US, because I was expected to use HTC HD2 with 3G.
I've seen a lot of people move over from the Hero to the Evo within the forums. I'm just curious how they would be upgrade eligible? Sprint says I'm not eligible until October. Are these folks paying more money than the upgrade price? Just curious.
My wife was recently deployed so we cancelled the mytouch 4g on tmo and they waved the $200 cancel. fee.
I have been reading on xda that several people use simple mobile with tmo phones, and their webpage says this phone is SUPPORTED. I called a local dealer today and was told that I did not have to UNLOCK the phone because its running on tmo when its on simple mobile.
He said people are NOT throttled unless they are tethering or downloading torrents/movies.
Do any of you use simple mobile? Specifically, do you use a mytouch 4g on simple mobile and would you recommend it. My understanding its rebranded tmo service.
I loved the mytouch 4g, but couldnt stomach the $83 a month. My current phone is a optimus v (sprint aka virgin for $60 a month unlimited everything) but why would I want to use this phone (which I can return as Ive had it less than 10 days, I have 30 days to return) when I have a 10x better phone my mytouch 4g...

I transferred my number to Sprint and picked up an Evo (free) from Best Buy with 2 year agreement. I was told (by the BB employee) that all I had to do was call a number and they would take care of the port in credit.
I called the number, but they said because it wasn't from a Sprint store, I was not eligible for the credit. This is lame, because it would have made more sense just to buy the Evo 3D from Sprint and get the credit thus making it so I paid $25 for the Evo 3D in the end.
I'm going to Best Buy today to see what my options are, probably nothing, but do any of my XDA brethren have any experience with this? My first choice is to keep the Evo and get the credit, 2nd to ditch the Evo at BB, keep my number, and drive a mile down the street to the Sprint store.
Get the 3d. And deal with Sprint
