[Q] "See" information on Magstripes with Square Reader? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Does anyone know if there is an application that I can install or a terminal command I can run on an Android device to "see" the information that the phone is receiving through the headphone port (such as through music headphones or, specifically, a Square magstripe reader)?
Basically, I'm interested in seeing what information is stored on my credit cards, membership cards, student ID, etc.

Square Card Reader Decoder
has anyone created an app for the Square card reader to read mag strip info from credit cards, gift cards, Drivers Licenses? I could use this for confirming that the info on the mag strip matches the credit card, to prevent fraud. I'm not that technical so I don't know how to do this.
thanks for amy help anyone can be.

Bump, I am also wondering the same...

bump. im looking to do the same. i'm willing to invest some time into this project if there are others that want to help.

ive been playing with this quite a bit lately, i am pretty sure its beyond my ability as of now,
I did find some info about the magstripe at http://www.gae.ucm.es/~padilla/extrawork/soundtrack.html
the key is we need to dive deeper into the actual code and find a way to rewrite it in android. id be interested if anyone had more info on this as well.
edit: found this source code (for adruino i think) http://pastebin.com/n7VGdwe3
p.s. i will admit that im worried about what people would do with this code so this topic should be treaded lightly imo

[Q] SIM Application Toolkit - Writing a SIM app

I'm hoping that the smart people from XDA dev would be able to point me in the right direction.
I am involved in a project that would require the development of special features onto a SIM card.
Having no previous experience of this (apart from what I've seen on my own phones) I am at a loss where top start and Wikipedia is not really giving me much
Essentially I would like to know more about sim applications, things such as what language they are written in, what communication method they leverage (AT commands?), storage space constraints/size.
I will not be involved in the writing of said application, but will need to know what is involved in writing them, know limitations and so forth.
If anyone here would be able to point me in the direction of a good reading source, or would care to explain what’s involved in writing them, I’d greatly appreciate it.

[Q] New App - Looking for some assistance from developer who has worked with (SQLite)

As the title mentions, I have create a new app but need to be able to incorporate a database into it. I am looking for anyone who might have a bit of experience who can help me get the database portion of the application up and running. I think once the basics are down, I can probably handle the rest but comparing it to the stuff thats already one there. I have the beginning portion of the application done already, and working.. but I am holding off on adding any extra until I can get the database incorporated.
What I need the database to do:
As of now, store 1 numeric value, store the date and possibly be able to call that information back.
Please let me know if you might be able to help.
Thanks!
EDIT: By the way I am willing to give credit or work with someone with the talent to get this done.

Comic Strip Viewer

Hey Guys,
One of my favorite apps was recently pulled from Google Play. I contacted the developer asking if I could modify some of the source code for my own personal use and he consented. The problem is I am in over my head and can't really figure out how to do what I want to do. I want to add in functionality that the app at one time had (so I'm sure the code is still in there somewhere just disabled.)
It is an app for viewing comic strips. Since I agreed not to distribute I am hoping there is ONE other person who would also like a comic strip viewer and would be willing to help me work on it so they could make use of it too.
If anyone is interested, I would really appreciate it, it would be a great learning experience for me as I am just now getting into coding/development. All I ask is that you do not distribute the app, post it anywhere online, etc and that you are patient enough to work with a beginner.
Thanks.

The ANPR Droid headache, and some tylenol.

Hello,
I have been tasked by my company to further research the viability of implementing an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) based system. I have ruled out hard wiring a 120v camera since these are various remote locations I am trying to secure with ANPR. Since they are manned stations, the natural conclusion is an ANPR system. Something like this:
[I am too new and it won't let me post the youtube link, but if you search youtube for "MATRIX Android ANPR Rendszám azonosító" you'll find the video I speak of]
I have found many (at least 10) examples of similar functioning software, at least they appear to be, but nothing that is really for sale. I am new to this site but I know all of the experts are here. I'm wondering if either a) Any of you know of such commercially available software, or b) any of you are knowledgeable of how I can get it developed?
Thank you very much for your time and I hope this is posted in the right place.

Advice on Dual-SIM/Android for work or persona phone

Hello,
Trying to search for an answer I went back to threads from 2010 but without luck.
Currently I use a Nexus 5x with OmniRom 6.0.1., XPosed and microG with a Focus on privacy and security.
Until now I successfully refused to use WhatsApp but with new job/people/place it seems I'd need to hop on the bandwagon.
I had to get myself a new phone number (sim card) in this country and would like to use my old number too for my old contacts. A dual-sim phone makes sense there.
Now my question; how/is it possible to run two android systems on one phone at the same time, both with dedicated access to only whitelisted (XPrivacy eg.) data?
For the one sim card my usual privacy focused take, the other sim for WhatsApp/Google/Facebook - all those so called "social apps".
I don't want my data getting mixed up/tracked down/profiled with my other sim card and keep ist usage to a minimum. Mostly just reading group messages or posts
by other people.
From what I read, Google "Android at work" needs its own Business Server running for it. Won't work for me. I also remember Blackberry had a take on a private and work space once.
Or do I have to trust in/depend on the original phones software to manage the sim cards access?
What kind of software/hardware solution would you suggest to me? Regarding phone specs I'd prefer a good camera, ~ or <5" display (not >5") and a price as low as possible, ~ € 250.
Thank you!
