LG Shine Plus Overclocking / Custom ROMs - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Could anyone help me out with overclocking the LG Shine Plus (LG710)?
I want to get it up to about 800MHz to get a little extra juice out of it as currently my battery life is pretty good.
Any help is appreciated.

You'll need a custom kernel to enable overclocking. Currently there are no custom kernels yet but hopefully they will come soon, just like how they have been done for the LG Ally (the close cousin to the Shine Plus).
Custom recovery and ROMs started working on the Shine Plus yesterday. Here's a guide:

Wow, awesome news. Thanks for letting me know. I would have messed around with the kernel myself but since it's my wife's phone and she calls me the "Tim Allen" of tech because I love to mess around and I don't always succeed, so she wouldn't let me touch her phone unless the work was already done and tested.
Thanks again.

CyanogenMod Rom

Hi,
Is there any person or developer who can port CyanogenMod Rom on our Defy?
Or do you guys have any idea regarding this? How can we attract the attention to any developers towards our Defy?
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/screenshots
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/
CyanogenMod Rom works on Droid. So That should work on our Defy as well.
Looking forward to hear your ideas guys......
We need a recovery first
How can we get that recovery?
Wait for it to be sorted - it will come, just got to be patient
What does it really mean that we need recovery and why? Please explain in a way that a noob can get it.or diect me to a place to read thanks!
Bcs recovery is needed to get the modded ROM onto the DEFY!
You need to replace/modify allot of things and this is not as easy as getting a non market app onto your mobile
And i guess there are much more people looking for a 2.2 or perhaps 2.3 then waitin for a CyanogenMod Rom!?

The modded recovery is out... Please Cyanogen make a miracle...!
my main phone is a G2, and have yet to run a CM rom, I'm, more then happy with what we have so far for the Defy, and thanks everyone efforts, if someone ports an OEm Sense Rom over this way well that's another story lol
You know what I am with the guy above. Im loving what I got so far. And in the new year I will probably do my own custom rom. I am not in any rush to get 2.2 at the moment, and im getting an android tablet today so hack time is being diverted to that

Google, you need to be prepare to read - alot.
Everything I have learnt is from googling - all the various android forums.
Hi, i asked google a lot, but can´t find a realy gooo anser what excatly todo.
I can compile my own rom from source, but what is with driver?Firmware?
How i implement this?
Is the bootloader locked the same way as it is on milestone, droid x and droid 2? Or is it hack friendly and we can load any custom kernel?
I missed this thread before.
I would love to see CM's rom on the Defy. In fact I would have no problem donating to the individual who makes it happen
no way!
No one wants to hack the defy!
Would easy i guess for a realy hacker.
But no one do it.
All want to give motorola devices back or won´t buy it.
Poor.

Very different phone dude, you can find a new defy for 290€, seems the Lg Optimus 2x will be around 550€ ... that's really expensive
Not true. Several people already have.

And ofcourse, if you find yourself in any situation where your phone might get wet or dropped, there's no point in comparing them.
Until froyo(kernel) is released by motorola, we can "only" have a CM5 port for the defy.
It would be great trying froyo kernel without any modules and having them replaced by DEFY ones... Doing that we would know if motorola uses the same key for all the androids

Epic 4G ROM on Nexus S 4G

Hardware is identical except that NS4G has the NFC and no flip keyboard.
I bet if you flash one of their ROMs and then Netarchy's kernel it'll work just fine.
What do you think?
No... dear lord... just no
I posted over at the Epic forum and they got ours to work on the Epic. But it doesn't just work out of the box. There are some things which need to be moded.

oh you guys are so smart with those comments
Can u post the rom for epic 4g. Ill do it
Uncle Jimmy says hello
No, it's not a matter of doing it. This was a question to someone who could answer it. Obviously the two you've seen were not technically oriented to be able to even have a guess.
The answer to this, if you follow the link I posted from the epic forum, is that some minor adjustments need to be made to the ROM it'self before it can be successfully flashed following with a kernel. If you don't, you'll get an error in the recovery or at best the phone will boot but not have all the functions.
So the guys from the Epic forum answered my question and they are happy I brought it up because they'll have a pure GB ROM on their phone with all the new stuff included.
Makes me wish I got the Epic. At least there, my questions would have been answered better.

wow first, they can boot a stock aosp rom because they have a .35 cm7 kernel, we on the other hand dont have a .32 kernel, or a .35 touchwiz kernel. and yes most of the rom.. should work (save for anything to do with radio) on the epic (again with the correct kernel) and most of the people there are happy because any thoughts of gingerbread give them giggles. they have a gb rom already, its cm7 and its halfway working, but it wont be because of teh nexus s 4g. its because they have some of teh best devs working on it. the reason why their rom wont work is because touchwiz is heavily integrated into it, we dont have the support for that (yet, who knows what someone may try to port over) prime example look at the sense rom and tell me how many of those things are working? the epic is as close to the nexus s 4g as it is to the motorola razr. they share the same radio and chipset and a few other random parts and pieces how the ril is used is completely different, how the gps is run is totally different.
how's that for an answer? if you wanna swap to the epic i know plenty of guys that are in the epic irc channel that would gladly trade with you.
Thank you. That was better than the other post.

Calling Devs contribute to the Motorola Triumph!(UPDATED)

UPDATED (8-1-2011)
Well here's the basics. The triumph can be rooted with gingerbreak, and need a dev to make us some roms. Now i think the bootloader UNLOCKED and similar to the droid(stock froyo build on triumph) There are guys and gals who will contribute on Androidforums.com to see some dev work completed on the triumph. So basic review what we need:
A Dev - we have One that really contribute alot(issacj87) And we would like some more lol!
Custom recovery - Thanks to issacj87 AND tj styles we have CWM!!!
ROMS- This is the next step
And i would love to see MIUI on the triumph- Waiting on a cm7 build then this COULD be a reality!
Here's some specs on the triumph:
http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_triumph-3988.php
Also here's info on the CWM port for Motorola triumph.

22 page thread to get our own dev spot on xda.
i just want Gingerbread on the Triumph
I think we need a new antenna firmware. My cellphone connection is bad with the triumph. Much worse than the LG optimus v.

Did you charge your phone to 100% and let it die on you before charging it up back to 100% again? You have to train the phone to get use to your usage.
I'm not a true dev, but I make themes, and I could port my sense theme to this phone if anyone wants?
Yes please!
Will be picking up this phone soon. Xda devs are awesome.

Looks like we about to get the stock rom quicker than i excepted. No eta but looks promising!!!
http://sourceforge.net/motorola/discussion/general_comments/thread/f28d8cb7/
TJ Style is working on a rom for the CSL Spice Mi410.
I guess it may be cross flashable with the Triumph since these have identical specs.
Anyone risked the Gingerbread firmwares out for the Mi410 on their Triumphs?
A beta 2.6.32.9 kernel source code for the Mi410 has been released btw
id be willing to throw some money a dev's way to get CM7 on this sucker...
We have a custom recovery CWM!!! Thanks to issacj87, tjstyles, and others!
Anybody that would like to build a custom rom, or a theme build for us please let us know! we can provided you a cwm nandroid of the stock rom!!!
http://androidforums.com/triumph-all-things-root/383332-clockworkmod-recovery-motorola-triumph.html
This requires more attention. This phone rocks for the price. Why is there no section for the Triumph on here? It would get more attention if we did. Not that there's anything wrong with androidforums, there's just a different group of developers here. More the merrier.

[Q] Bricked GS3 - Avoid Reccurence

Hello all!
This is my first post here and I thank all for comments in advance - they are very appreciated!
So I was very new to the aspect of rooting when I first got my Sprint GS3, but I read posts here and watched many tutorials on youtube and successfully rooted my device using Odin, then using Goomanager flashed CM 10.1 without a hitch. I had a custom kernel as well ( do not remember the name ), so when I updated my ROM I went hunting for new kernels as well. On an XDA (forgot the name/link) thread I found kernels compatible for CM 10.1, but when I flashed it my phone got bricked. No drivers found, won't boot into recovery or download, taking out and replacing battery wont work - not even an LED light. I said that I lost it and received a new one, but I was wondering why it got bricked (I have a bad gut feeling I did something as dumb as getting an international version kernel as I heard they would not be compatible?) And if there are links for a kernel for a stock firmware rooted GS3 - I have not seen one and I am nervous on finding more seeing as how I already bricked one phone. Thanks for the help!!! I just want to be more educated on this so I do not have to spend another 150$ in replacements. Thanks!

Just stick with the kernel provided in the rom you are using. The developer picked or made that kernel for a reason.

The reason that I wanted another kernel is since Cyanogemods stock one does not let me OC/UV and those are options that I would like to have

Only flash kernels that are in your device threads. Next time leave out what you did to get it replaced as that is fraud and not looked at well here.

Ok that is just dumb. Make sure you understand what your doing before you do. Remember the min you flashed a custom rom. You no longer have any warranty.

we have cm 12.1 for our device also thanks to @Unjustified Dev http://androidforums.com/threads/h631-ms631-beta-cyanogenmod-12-1-for-lg-g-stylo.926968/
from what i read in that thread he has let another dev take over for him and im sure they will upload new builds for us as soon as they can...patience is a virtue
we also have @GameTheory. helping us as well as others i cant think of at the moment (its way too early, hopefully they will chime in)...but yeah i would definitely love to see more roms for this phone too. i do like the stock lg rom though, and combined with xposed/some buildprop tweaks ive made, im very happy with my phone in its current state that i dont mind patiently waiting for some roms to show up :good:
Yea, if we got flashable zips for the official updates I would be OK with that.

I think it is possible to extract KDZ files using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600575 and then repack them for flashing via custom recovery
Furthermore, you can download your current KDZ file (if available) from this link
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=YOUR_IMEI_HERE
You need to replace YOUR_IMEI_HERE with your own IMEI, visible on the box, behind the battery or by typing *#06# in your phone dialer
Okay cool i wished i knew how to build roms but as long as this awesome phone dont be left for dead im happy with that. Would be great to see more than just cyanogenmod roms though
