I just bought a Motorola Cliq XT and it has a few hardware problems I was wondering if anyone could help me with or point me in the right direction for.
First off the power button does not work at all. I know that most of those buttons just ground the circuit for it to work so I am not seeing why this part is not working. With the meter it works correctly (the button that is) and I know there is some sort of transistor? or something in between the contact and the ground. I could not find a problem through the meter but I really just need it to work for a few seconds for reasons below.
The camera button is completely gone in it, and it is a 2stage button. I need it for reason below.
Still has previous owners data, to do a master reset I (obviously) have to press and hold the power and camera button. Is there another program I can use to do this or do I have to figure out a way to short those 2 contacts. Any information at all would help. Even a place in Dallas/Fort Worth area that can fix it would be nice. Thanks in advance.

After a soft-reset, the right button on the scroll wheel is simply not responding at all. I can still press left, up, down, and turn it both ways and it responds normally - but the right button is doing nothing.
I've tried many soft-resets, and I don't see how on earth a hard reset could help this at all, unless it really is some random registry entry that somehow got messed up.
I thought I'd ask here in case anyone knows of some obscure registry issue that could have caused this somehow. Otherwise, I guess I just have to accept the fact that I'll never again be able to use the right scroll wheel button.
Any suggestions or experiences with this? Or, if not, can anyone just tell me where to find this in the registry so I can check it myself?
Thanks, in advance.
I have the very same problem, right button not responds even if i boot android with haret.
Please help!
Should i take apart and clean, or what else?
Thanks!
I have the similar problem, d-pad left button almost dosent work.
I mast push it very hard to make it work.
I think it's a hardware problem.
any idea to fix this problem without changing another d-pad?
Hi,
I have the same problem, too. The right button from d-pad doesn't work. Since the button stopped working, I've tried more than one or two different ROMs. The result is the same.So all that means the problem isnt in the software. I think its hardware malfunction. I use this phone more than 3 years. May be its more than enough yo use it. I think your phones need nothing but repair
Hey all,
I have a question, that may seem out of the oridinary but it does apply to me.. Ever since i sent my phone to my provider to fix an issue it has come back and the front half of the phone (the screen) has been very loose, when i press the power button i have to pretty much use both my hands otherwise the screen will move slighty and i cant press in the power button to take the phone out of standby..
My question is, would it be possible to remap the power button to something like, say the button in the middle of the phone at the bottom? (in between the answer and hang up buttons). And have it work if i hold it down for a few seconds or so?
I am just getting frustrated when i have to take my phone out of standby to check it and have this issue..
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thankyou!
you could try this: http://www.fuzemobility.com/wake-up-your-fuze-without-the-power-key/
why don't u go take it back to your provider and have them fix what they broke?
Thats an option as well right?
It is an option, only problem is is that they will have my phone for 3 weeks (as they did last time) and i will be without it. They will give me a loan phone but its an old ****ty one and i need email etc. for work so its no good.
Problems that I cannot find on google. Not sure if it's due to wear & tear. Not sure what's the problem, suddenly having this problem all the time. This phone's slightly less than 1.5 years. Anyone got the same issues? What's caused this? Using it for a year with no problems, problems only arose these 3 months!
Mods installed:
Raphael Keyboard Controller GSM/CDMA v1.4 (mapped quite a few keys to apps)
DredSensor (use it only when i activate manila. Now i dont use manila so it's disabled)
mobileSRC Gscroll (disabled. of no use to me)
1.
Volume down key got stuck, the clicking mechanism is spoilt, but pressing it down very hard & sometimes volume down works. But this is very problematic as i have to press volume up & see the volume control on the screen before i can lower the volume.
2.
Keyboard keys giving problems. (wiring problems? or the button problems?)
Caps lock: double presses although i press it once
Space: Does not space although i press it. works 50% of the time is very frustrating to type!
Backspace: Same as Space
FN: Same as Space but only 20% of the time
Right direction key: Same problem as space!
Help?
Anyone has this issue??
Help
Uninstalled Gscroll & keyboard config. Soft resetted. I only noticed the phone speed increase slightly as the keyboard config takes up a lot of cpu power, and about 10MB of RAM. The keys still are giving me the same problems.
Still facing this issue. Anyone could help?
I have similar issues. Double space-ing, "b" "v" "ctrl" gets doubled or not pressed at all. I thought soft reset would help, but since you already did that, I guess it's

What I am wondering about is whether to try waranty repair.
I have gone through two fuzes with keyboard issues. As long as water tab is fine warranty should work fine for it. My carrier and maybe HTC seem to be in complete control of determining if it is the physical damage (your fault) and null and voiding the warranty.
Anyway your issue would sound hardware related to me. In which case you can try warranty, insurance, or repair. Repair is not as simple as replacing just the keyboard, I believe you need the whole case. Unless I a mistaken that was roughly $140 USD when I tried to find one for myself.
I think I might have found the solution,
The thread mentioned quite a number of people who's keyboard/keys stopped working after they dropped their raphael
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=62876&highlight=keyboard+replacement
Seems like there some wires lying underneath the keyboard (one of them under the center of the keyboard (g, h, v, b keys). Pressing down hard on these keys might press the wire back to it's intact position. I tried that & now my space bar works fine, although the other keys remain problematic..
Let me see if opening up and reconnecting the wire properly would solve this problems..
We should avoid dropping this phone as much as possible, i dont think HTC put much effort into their drop tests, this phone is way too heavy to survive drops Imo

Your post helped me Hard Reset my Sharper Image PUERHITECH 202TSI phone that I bought from ebay locked with a password and couldn't figure out for the world how to hard reset the darn thing.
Step one
1. Power + left + right + back(next to the right soft key) buttons while system is still powered on.
Keep trying till you see the screen change to blue with the words "Clear Storage"
2. I had to press the letter "Y" (I think it helped?) and the "ENTER" button at the right corner of the keypad.
The screen turns black for a few seconds comes on with the sharper image logo and stays there re-imaging the phone. After about 2 minutes of waiting, voila! WinMo oh my GOD 6. Pretty ancient but it worked.
Now if someone can help me uograde to WINMO 6.5 would be great.
I realize this is an old thread, but just in case anyone is following it: I downloaded and installed EnableGPS (google it) which was made for an HTC phone, but it worked to enabel the internal GPS on this phone. I now have an active internal GPS that works with NoviGPS and will hopefully work with others. Now if I can only determine if there is WiFi (there are references in the registry) and get it enabled, then I will be so-o-o happy!
Amoi 6711 or Alcatel 202TSI or VDA-GPS or....
This device is similiar to toshiba g710 and vda-gps so there is no hidden wifi sorry... there is no possibilitiy to have wifi... but tell me about this gps trick you did? where did you found it?
The file is attached. Use at your own risk, but it worked for me, GPS is now accessable. Try also downloading and installing GpsTest from Chartcross. It will show you your working GPS. Enjoy!
It does not work for me it shows gps in garmin xt bud doesnt find any satellite
Alright, please dismiss my past thread as i was able to fix my phone up and the LCD and touch screen is working, though the home button and search buttons don't work anymore. I believe it's because I probably positioned them wrong since the first attempt had the search button working like a champ. Now my question is anyone who have opened thier phone before know how exactly do I position the home flex cables to they would work probably?
