Hey guys, My friend just got the Aria for AT&T and I have suggested Unrevoked as I did for my EVO. The question I have is simple, If he roots with Unrevoked, will that bypass AT&Ts block on Unknown sources for apps?
I don't think so. You can use HTC aria sync version 3.0 to install 3 party apps. Its on the aria forum here. Or just flash a different ROM.

Does anybody know where I can find a Stock ROM for a Sprint HTC EVO 4G? I've visited the HTC site and they have the some downloads, but I'm not sure if that is specific to HTC or if it's the same as what Sprint would have. I know some vendors add their own proprietary features so I'm concerned that the ROM I get from HTC would be different from the Sprint ROM.
Rooted versions are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038701
The ones from HTC will cause you to lose root. If you need to unroot, flash the unrevoked s-on zip in recovery first, then run the RUU. If you aren't rooted, you should be able to just run the RUU to update, although it will be easier to do it OTA.

Thanks for your reply, plainjane. However, I'm still confused if there is a difference in stock ROMs between the HTC EVO you get from Sprint and the stock ROM you download from HTC. Call it anal, but I would like to restore my Sprint HTC EVO to it's original state. My concern is that if I download the stock ROM from HTC I might miss out on some proprietary modifications Sprint might have made to the kernel or the baseband.
Hey guys do you think one click root you guys have here to root htc inspire would work on the HTC evo
If you are looking to root an EVO shouldn't you be in the EVO section?

Yes you are right my friend however i had the inspire before and now i have the evo but the new evos now come with 2.3 and can't root it.at the evo forums don't have the option to go back to stock 2.2 like we do here. So I was going to give this one a shot but I thought of asking first to see if maybe anyone has done it. If not I'll probably stay with the inspire lol.
The current rooting methods for the Inspire/DesireHD are very device specific. No chance it would work on an EVO. Heck, they won't work on DHDs that have taken the 2.3 upgrades either.
Most rooting methods are device spicific so please be careful using things not ment for your device.

Even as a newbie I was able to unlock my inspire using [TOOL] HTC Inspire/DHD Hack Kit V12.3 (UPDATED ON 08-11-2011) THANKS, THANKS, THANKS. I found the hack in a developers' forum and I am unable to post there. And, yes, I did read the effen-manual but I still have a few questions-
1- how do I know for sure that my phone is rooted and unlocked.
2- what radio should I install
3- what ROM should I flash
Just getting to this point has been challenge for me but I want to complete the task in the best way possible.
Thanks for any pointers.
1. If superuser is installed and running
2. Theirs all type so it may differ for others. I'm currently on att gingerbread one
3. Try them all. That's the best comment theirs only your opinion.

Good choice. If you're tired of sense I recommend AOSP

Hi newbie-2,
I have the same question about the radio. Which radio did you end up flashing?
What steps did you use, and did you flash the RIL as well?
Sorry for all the questions. I read quite a bit in the HTC Inspire 4G Radio Flashing forum post in the Development forum, but I'm afraid it left me a bit confused...

Hi
Please can someone tell me what the most recent version of Android can go on an official HTC Hero. There appear to be no furthe rupdates from my network and I wonder whether the upgrade can be done myself.
From what I can tell, there are a few 2.3 gingerbread ports available for the hero.

What's a port? Sorry but I'm new at upgrading.
Since gingerbread isn't made naturally for the hero, they stopped pushing updates out after 2.2, a port takes the 2.3 build and makes it available for the hardware of the Hero. You would have to root and be able to install custom ROM's, then download the ROM and flash it with either clockworkmod or amen-ra.

I assume it is a hero for sprint (cdma)? If so, head on over to that forum. If not, head to the gsm forum. There are a few of us still hanging on to our cdma heros. Send me a pm if you have any questions about rooting which, as stated by others, you will have to do to update your android version.... Good luck.
hey, all!
Just got me a sensation. went from inspire - iphone 4 (bleh) -sensation.
I kept the gold card from inspire and wanted to see if i needed to re-create it for the sensation, once i get into rooting it.
I apologize if this has been answered before.
Thank you, all!
Nope, the sensation is easy as hell.
Run revolutionary, flash cwm, install root.zip, install busybox.
