if only i could upgrade the hardware RAM...
i tried it and its very very pretty!
...but laggy also. im waiting for the next release!
Before I try and flash this again... Have you found out the touch screen driver problems with the Mytouch 1.2/fender? What kernel do you use? Last time I flashed this not only did the touch screen not work, but I never got a response as to why.
EDIT- ok i got this one booted. And all is working fine... except for the clock/weather widget finding my location. Not sure but every espresso type rom has done this for the past few months.. Oh well lol
hows the battery life on this rom i cant get the froyo rom to work right so i though i would try something new like this or the eclair rom.
where are the htc widgets that come with this rom are they takin out to make more stable? but it looks good but setting up myfaves i get a force close. and my contacts that are sync'd with google says i have 209 contacts when i normally have 69 is this a bug that happen?
Edit:sorry the other widgets took time to boot. and Ive only gotta one random wake up freeze where the phone wouldn't light up around (3am) or show but a good old battery pull save the day.
Htc Magic 32b. Installed this rom and like iCyan Sense after reboot it maintains on vodafone screen and nothing happens. Wiped all. Tried with a new and formated sdcard and nothing. Can someone send me a link with a backup nandroided?

aaaaaaaahahahahahahahahhahaha , "phish much"
Nice answer. Yes, really a nice supports. No more comments
Really like this rom, a bit laggy going home for me and when i tried to restore apps from mybackup pro none of them showed up. other than that great rom. looks great. hope the dev continues improving it. thanks
Anyone else having Location issues with the weather/clock? Figured IUd try and find out before I go nuts formatting a 32gb sd card but I dont ever seem to get any answers for this rom in either thread.
mymodes
hey everyone i found this thread in g1 themes and wallpapers and i tough i would post here because this is the only Espresso rom ive used and i wanted to know if this would work on this rom
Mymodes link
does it work with the 2708 kernel and the new hboot?
not gonna lie, i LOVE this ROM. i never thought i'd like an Espresso ROM, but this one is great. but it is super slow on my G1. great UI, i didnt have any problems with it, except that it took forever to register a screen touch or button press. needs more speed, and maybe just a tad more stability before i can use it as a daily ROM.
update
will this be updated anytime soon i really like it but the faves getting force closes is the deal breaker for me. so could we see this updated hopefully soon.

sounds good, after so much flash withdral, now all these roms
this, superd, and hero eclair!!!!!!!!! in two days
EDIT, wow I never noticed that I have the second post in this amazing topic
Damn it man... I was watching the Cleveland/Boston game and thought "I wonder if anyone released any updates?" I didn't exactly expect to see much, but now i'm going to miss a chunk of the game because I want to flash this and play with it.
Damn you guys and your badass ROM releases. Damn you! LOL
(thanks for this though, been waiting to see what you guys were putting together for the update)
Is it possible to have the Menu key to unlock changeable via Sapre Parts?
I really like the option where i have to swipe.
Also im also very curious on how 3D/Video is being accomplished

Wait and see Wes will work his magic, when he has a chance. Just give him some time. We also gotta work out BT in this build as well, so there are a few kinks to iron out still. Wicked fast though
The boot screen made me "lol"
I wasnt expecting that. Looks neat though
the background of the boot screen is scaled up from a low-res image, does not look as good. it repeats too much and a bit annoying to keep a big bright screen for so long.
So what happened between 1.2.1 and 1.2.2 to break bluetooth?
Hey guys, first time OpenEclair user, long time Cyanogen user.
So I'm trying to flash this ROM, but I'm getting this error
Code:
copying files...
E:Can't symlink /system/xbin/bb/dirname
E:Failure at line 73:
/system/xbin/busybox SYSTEM:xbin/bb/dirname
I googled for it, and found some folks talking about symlink issues, and people said it had to do with formatting the SDcard. So I repaired mine using Amon_Ra's recovery image, and tried again, but no dice.
Help?

I haven't had this issue and I am a long time Cyanogen User also. I always wipe everything... factory reset, dalvik, and ext using Amon_Ra's recovery image. I have been jumping back and forth flashing different roms and I have yet to have an issue.
OK, here's what I did, step by step:
-Extracted the OpenEclair 1.2.2 zip onto my SD card (I realize this was wrong)
-Wiped data and Dalvik via Amon_Ra's recovery image
-booted into cyanogen and opened terminal emulator
-flash_image boot /sdcard/boot.img
-reboot
My phone restarts, and hangs on the TMobile G1 Screen
-I reboot into recovery, and realize that you can install from zip files. I realize my first mistake of unzipping the file.
-I pull my sdcard and download the openeclair file again, and place the zip file on my sdcard. I carefully remove only the files I unzipped from the OE zip file, knowing that the "apps" folder had some files in there already, so I left those.
-reboot, recovery, install zip from recovery
That's when this error shows up. So I back up, pull the SDCard again, download the latest Cyanogen and try the flash it. It installs fine, but now when I reboot my phone hangs on the TMobile G1 screen.
****.
So I do a Nand restore, and the phone boots into really old android that came on the G1. yikes, but ok. So I try and install OpenEclair now, via recovery image, same error. I install cyanogen, and my phone again hangs at TMobile screen.
Help?

All I can think of is that you may not have waited long enough when on the G1 screen. It can take a really long time to get to the splash screen.
The real reason I'm posting now is to say congrats to the devs. This ROM is a winner. I only ran it for a few hours because I rely heavily on bluetooth, but I still enjoyed it enough to recover my TI backups, rearrange my home screen shortcuts and even make a nandroid backup. I'm recovering my OE 1.0.1 nandroid backup as I type, but I cannot wait to see 1.2.next with working BT. So Chris and Wes an anyone else working behind the scenes: get enough sleep, take your time, I'll keep watching you on twitter to see when the BT fix is ready. I'll see if I can pull together a little beer money while I wait.

that's probably long enough. I guess you should just start fresh with full wipes and reflash. I used to hate it when people told me to do that, but I'm a Titanium Backup user now.
No boot problems
Hello toekneebullard. If you sdcard isn't properly formatted with linux-ext-swap, it can cause a no boot situation. It should go like this: Fat32 / Ext3 - 500mb/ Linux-Swap 128mb. This setup will work for most ROMs with or without swap. Regards
Hello everyone,
first i would like to say this ROM is Not my Own and I do not take credit for it this Wonderful Speedy As Hell rom is created by Sparksco I simply ported it over to HTC Magic 32A , and added a couple mods, now to the goodies

SparksMod 2.0 Changelog
This rom was made specificly to be used with Rom Manager and Clockworkmod Recovery by Koush
-Apps:
Gapps to rom, but they install seperately from the rom itself to ensure a clean installation. No need to flash more than one thing
Zeam Launcher + Go Launcher, the GB Launcher seemed to be having some memory leaks, feel free it try other launchers from the market if you experience any lag issues over time
Rom Manager. You can use rom manager
Updated apps, android term, GB Keyboard, others, all free apps of course
-OpenGLES
I added a newer version to the rom to increase performance. I found it on this thread: http://www.xda-developers.com/androi...1-on-htc-hero/
-Wipe System to the rom
I added erase_image to the rom as a tool to wipe only the system partition before installing the rom itself. You will still need to select backup current rom and wipe data and cache with rom manager!

Just don't partition the sdcard, then u can use the built in froyo apps2sd.
EDIT: you might come across some problems with out a partition, basically the launchers and a couple apps are installed on apps2ext on boot, so I highly recommend you make a partition , or else you'll be missing some key apps. If you don't want to use app2ext after wards then go to terminal app type:
Su
sh /system/etc/fr-patch141-BETA.txt apps2sd
Then you should get option to move all data/data apps to SD say no, then if you will get option to move apps to actual native apps2sd and say yes.
OR you can just use apps2ext so u don't have to do all that, and apps2ext is faster.

This is Adlxmod Froyo for Defy
- Based off Chinese Froyo Motorola release,
(moto/ME525_umts/umts_jordan/ME525:2.2.1/JDGC_0.26.0/1291957876:user/release-keys)
- Fully Deodexed by me -> Theme ready
- Optionally a dark notification bar patch can be installed, see below.
- Rooted
- Phone can be used with no SIM
- Includes Motoblur, which can be skipped
- Removed Chinese Bloatware
This rom targets people who want to upgrade to 2.2, but still like Motoblur. Performance isn't as good as deblurred rom, but you can OC/UV it to make it perform better (what I do).
Updated:
- Market 2.2.11 + Market Fix (Occidental apps)
- Google Maps 5.0.0
Added:
- Adlx Protips Widget
- Google Apps
- Swype (OEM version from Defy's Eclair rom)
- HTC_IME Keyboard
- Gingerbread Keyboard
- Android Terminal Emulator
- Wireless (Wifi & Bluetooth) Tethering
- Busybox 1.16
- AOSP Email App
- Titanium 3.6.7.1
- LauncherPro 0.8.2
- Tenfar ClockworkMod Recovery
- 3D Gallery (my mod)
- Overclock support (phone won't be OCed by default)
- SetCPU (free from XDA, please donate on the Market)
- Milestone Overclock
- Added in /system/xbin: rwsystem/rosystem, wpa_cli, zipalign, strace, ssh, sqlite3, dexopt-wrapper, tcpdump, fix_permissions, iptables
- Lots of APNs added
- Ad-Blocking
- AOSP Eclair icons
Instructions:
Rom's Nandroid: adlxmod-Defy-Froyo-build05.zip
DarkBar Patch : adlxmod-Defy-Froyo-DarkBarOnly.1-signed.zip
- This Rom is a Nandroid backup of system to be restored over the phone.
- The zip contains:
ZIP:\goapkrev\
\backup\
\date & time\
system.img
nandroid.md5
It has to be unzipped in the root of the SDcard in the exact same structure:
SDCRAD:\goapkrev\
\backup\
\date & time\
system.img
nandroid.md5
If u are not using a Froyo rom yet, start with those steps:
- Flash Chinese Froyo sbf using RSD Lite
- Root using SuperOneClickFor2.1
- Reboot
- Install Tenfar Recovery application
- Run Tenfar Recovery
- Install Recovery
( If you are using already a Froyo rom for Defy, you can jump directly to these steps )
- DISABLE USB Debugging Mode (In Settings / Applications / Developpement)
- Reboot into Recovery
- Restore nandroid
- (Optional) Flash the DarkBar patch
- Wipe All!
- Reboot
Known Issues:
- Gallery 3D will FC if click on the camera button, will fix later
- Swype close word window doesn't show up upon double tap (?!)
- Only English & Chinese locales for the moment
- No PTBR locale in swype. Working on it.
- Camera Flash is sort of working for me, it fires correctly but seems a bit out of sync. Hope you have more luck with that.
Downloading now...will definitely check it out! Thanks.
Here's the problem, I like this ROM, but I hate BLUR, however this rom doesn't have too much blur, and sadly, the reason I can't use this ROM is because EDGE is the only connectivity I get. Also, I'm using another ROM atm and everytime I upgrade to maps 5.0 navigation stops working and maps lags alot. Is that the case here?
EDIT: Also, I like the keyboards and I want skype back, but I can't extract them because it's an .img file and I don't have anything that can view it...therefore i was wondering, coiuld you please upload the swype and HTC IME? I'm on the original USA DEFY and miss swype and I like HTC IME. =[

You can install swype by their official page "http://beta.swype.com/" just register and follow the steps, i had to uninstall and remove some files on the one the comes with Defy but after it i was able to do install it.
I did all of this because i wanted swype in Portuguese, that is not available in the ROM's

That is good and all, but I want the version of Swpe that came with my T-Mobile DEFY, well it's actually my friend's DEFY, he got it yesterday I"m rooting and helping, but anyways he wants the version that came with the phone originally the white skin and all. I know that's possible because this ROM has it, but I"m running a different 2.2 ROM at the moment, and I don't know how to extract the keyboard form this ROM.
There are instructions on restoring 3g for US on this forum.

I saw that, but are there any not involving ADB because I keep getting an error when trying to use ADB with the DEFY -
I get this error:

CreateProcess failure, error 2
* failed to start daemon *
error: cannot connect to daemon

You need to uninstall/reinstall ADB or re-read the installation instructions. You have a problem with your environmental variables.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Howto:_Install_the_Android_SDK
Also that 3G fix only works with Android 2.1 (eclair). You will need to make or get a 3G fix for Android 2.2 (froyo). I'm not sure how that would happen, since you would need some files off of a 2.2 rom that is compatible with US networks, and the only current 2.2 rom is the chinese version. Which is why I haven't tried any of the 2.2 roms yet. I'm just going to wait until something more stable is available.
Hi Adlxdum, I restored your back and your rom is really fast and pretty neatly modded, thank you very much for that. However, immediately after booting, google is restoring all the apps and settings which I had on my previous rom. Including the apps. Hence not much customization seems to be left at the end of this. Is there a file that is somewhere here on either my sd card or inside my phone which I can delete. That way I can enjoy the complete benefits of your rom.
thanks again.
EDIT: Sorry there is an option on froyo for that. I unchecked the "restore backup" option under privacy.
Hey guys, will i be able to put it in top of 2.51?
Edit: I'm now testing

It did boot, first SDCard wasn't being detected, it was ok after reboot.

Adlxdum, hey Bihariel just put out a camera fix and I used it on your ROM too. It works like a charm all that flash problems and it being unsynchronous is all gone.
I urge all you guys try that fix. It actually works on every ROM of froyo we have here.

Could you link it? And also, I'm on T-Mobile USA, could someone please tell me how I can get 3G working WITHOUT ADB access? Using Terminal or root explorer perhaps? Also, does WiFi calling work? I really need that to work as I have no signal in my dorm. Please help, and it'd be much appreciated. Thanks!

This is an AOSP-based build with extra contributions from many people which you can use without any type of Google applications. I found a link from some other project that can be used to restore the Google parts, which can be found below or elsewhere in the thread. I've still included the various hardware-specific code, which seems to be slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Hi!
I don't quite know how to start ;o) so...
This ROM is compiled from CyanogenMod 6, AOSP, Ezterry's and mine source code repositories . This ROM is not repackaged, moded, ripped, stripped, whatever version of any other ROM available on the Net.
Overview:
- 2.6.36.4 kernel from @Ezterry
- Native Apps2SdExt (also called Magpie) with Effdee fix (this also contains fix to pm/pm.jar used by f.ex. Titanium Backup when restoring app)
- xVold - mounts SdExt partition (if it exists) with data 2 SdExt
- Poor man SetCPU (as known from f.ex. Froyo by Laszlo) with safety valve logic by @hrk (CPU OC settings are not restored when phone crashes; you can safely try to push your CPU to the limit)
- CA Certs without compromised Diginotar keys
- CACertManager from Guardian Project
- long click on PowerWidget icon launches Settings (backport of CM7 feature)
- black bar theme (most of gfx were taken from @Sisterchick's themes but if you see your gfx used please let me know so I can give proper credits)
- uses AnyKernel so should boot on 2708/EBI0/EBI1 devices (tested only on 2708)
- stock Froyo Launcher (aka Launcher2)
- can use Swap or Compcache (both disabled by default and I don't really see the point of using any of them)
- no Gapps
2011.10.06 updates:
- Firerat's cache management ;o) script in /etc/init.d (https://gist.github.com/1182265)
- updated APN list
- Superuser 3.0 (upgradable via Market; please consider buying Elite version to show @ChainsDD some support)
Backports from CM7:
- RotaryRevamped, Lense and Ring lockscreen styles (Phone ui follows lockscreen style)
- Battery percentage on Lockscreen
- Restrict system packages to protected storage (this is security fix)
2011.10.13 updates:
- fixed bug in Phone app that caused crash when dpi setting were anything but 160
- fixed bug in Phone app that caused on screen Accept/Decline buttons not always show up
- Compcache/Swap is working again (note that activating/deactivating need reboot)
- Camera app with DCIM patch courtesy of @hrk
Known bugs/misfeatures:
The ROM runs perfectly OK without Ext partition. Only drawback is requester that pops up informing about unmountable SD card. What it's not telling is that only Ext partition is unmountable
No DCIM patch in Camera app this time (patch is against GB sources and I had no time to fix this; It's not hard just need time =o( This patch will make it into next release, sorry.
Apps2SdExt in this ROM is implemented at framework (system) level. Please do not use any scripts/apps that deal with applications installed on SdExt. Each and every application can be moved to and from SdExt using "Manage applications" under Settings. At some point in time I might add way to mass-move applications between SdExt, Internal and SdFat storages.

First install instruction:
1. Boot into Recovery
2. Make a backup.
3. Wipe all and everything (including SdExt)
4. Flash zip
5. Flash GApps
6. Reboot
Installing updates:
1. Boot into Recovery
2. Make a backup
3. Flash zip
4. Reboot
(I do my best so that all updates are of no-wipe type)
On first boot give the Dream some 10 - 20 minutes to settle.
Enjoy the ROM =o)
Credits:
CyanogenMod Team - this ROM wouldn't exist without them and I'd be stuck on Dounts =o)
Firerat - without him I'd never dig that deep in the Android code
Ezterry - always helpful and all that excelent work on kernels and GB for D/S
Sisterchick - your themes are great (hope you don't mind taking some gfx from them)
hrk - always helpful and skilled coder
And special thanks to all those who made Android the way it is now =o)

I used CyanogenMod 6 MDPI 20110501 from http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version#Google_Apps
I think that is the newest gapps pack for 2.2 Dream. Market is updating to 3.1.5 after first market open.
EDIT:
Anyone has a problem with random restarts?
I'm looking for a Stable ROM for my Brother, he's taking control of my OG G1 I like the settings back port. Nice touch, I'll check it out when my phone isn't needed.
thanks for this new modded cyanogen rom.flashed, booted and running normal.
love the honesty of it too, Nameless Froyo, laughed a lilwhen I saw the boot screen xD
OKKIE! D/L and flashed last night. Looking good at first glance. I love it.
Niceee! on the move apps to SDExt/SDCard options. Now I get to move everything to SDExt.
59MB Internal spaces free? WOW! I am loving this , still got that and more even after about 5 - 6 apps installed. Usually I ran out of room by now and had to decide which apps I want to keep.
GGRRRR! Just got my first reboot (just now). I hate when that happens. Got to figure out why it does that.....
Wifi, Bluetooth works well.
Network connection even works in the building at my office. (cool) I get a constant signal finally (well not it about 85% stable)
Overall the system seem to run pretty fast, we'll see how it deal with my usage...
Battery life with wifi on, and used not so good. But I guess that's how it is. I am used to constantly keeping it charged up anyway, so no worry there for me.
just started getting reboots. 3 in last 15 minutes.must find problem.
ok' ran this thing all day at work with no more reboots. don't know why they just stopped.lol

WOW! Did you ever got to the lock screen at all?

WOOHOOO! With thinning out the apps that I don't need, my internal spaces went up to 66MB, with 9 apps extra apps already installed.
Still running as fast as the first boot up. So far so good.
All those that have probs with random reboots pleas try flashing kernel from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14768272&postcount=2427
Theoretically they are the same (same sources were used) but Ezterry uses GB toolchain to compile and that might be the diff.
@Eutherin well you could as well hook G1 to some usb cable and grab logcat for me, right?
If you want to report a bug/bootloop/etc at least try to grab a logcat. This will help solve probs.
