westicle, I have chuckled at things on XDA before, perhaps even giggled, but that was the first time I ever "laughed out loud," as they say. +1. This thread should have been stopped after that 2nd post.
viewsonic is one of the tablets and it has 1ghz pentium processor (i think) but then there are some lower end dual boot tablets with lower specs. It's probably more likely to get windows phone 7 though

You mean like this? It's been up for a while...I ran it for like, a day. It was pretty cool, and is even cooler if you're good with photoshop.
It would be pretty impressive to see Windows 7 running on a Hero or any other Android device.
Well, in order to get started, the first thing you're going to need is the source code for Windows 7. I'm sure a quick phone call to Microsoft customer service is all it'll take to get that....
Forgetting about memory and storage requirements, the cpu is all wrong. Win7 only runs on Intel architecture processors. The tablets that it's been dual booted on are Intel Atom based.
Then there's the fact that even on my reasonably powerful laptop, Win7 is a bloated pig that often runs at a snails pace. The thought of trying to use it on smartphone class hardware makes me want to curl up in a ball and cry.....

Hi,
Having used Tytn II for 6 months now, I guess there wont be any update regarding the display drivers from HTC, which is the main cause of annoyance. I am looking for suggestions/advice for buying something better then this PDA.
Thanks
If you don't mind leaving Windows, you should get a Nokia N96.
Or if you don't want to leave windows, you can get an HTC X7501. The only problem with that one is that its kinda big due to the 5" screen.

hey, i was kinda in the same boat as you, and ended up buying an n95-4 (the 8gb version). i used it for a few days, and now i'm back to my tilt. the biggest reasons are lack of html in ur emails, no qwerty, and no touchscreen. never knew how important those two are to me. wm also has a lot of free programs, and you dont have to deal with getting them signed (wtf is that??) anywayz, while we ***** and moan about lack of drivers, in all actuality, i think we have the best phone on the market...

I think so too. I can't have a phone without qwerty or touchscreen. And no html in emails? What kinda cheap **** is that?

ya thats one thing i hate about the n95-4, it feels like any crappy cheap phone. its light, not very solidly built (search for slider issues on these phones) and the entire layout of the phone feels the same as any free nokia... now to sell this phone, anybody wanna buy a brand new n95-4
I'll trade you an unlocked Wing for it.
Why is everyone forgetting to mention the world famous iPhone!!!
LOL
ha lol, na thats aiight, i can sell it for $600, easy... bunch of nokia freaks out there
Yea the iphone is good if u dont mind losing your QWERTY and u want something simple. i would compare it to a sidekick on speed. But not a bad phone overall
WOW!!! I was being sarcastic.....
I bought a N95 8gb, really nice piece of gear (would be even better if I could learn how to use the damn thing) great media functions BUT!!!!! there is now a new learning curve, wheres the the stick??? there is no stick no qwerty I have gotten use to win mobile and and using a stylus and qwerty keyboard...on the plus side Movie playback and games are Smoooooooooooth
this is the one

Hi everyone, I have been wondering what people think is the best phone on the market and why?
This thread is designed for those who want to purchase a new phone, but don't want to buy something that is only hyped and has no substance. By the people, For the People!
Please state the phone and your reason why it is your personal favorite. (Note: It could be any phone, even the iPhone 4.)
Thanks To all those who post!
I thought the Motorola Dynatac 800X was pretty coollio, last week!
My favorite phone by all means is (because I own it) HTC HD2. Mines is a TMOUS, but if you are planning on buying one get the world version its universal. Here is a video (not mine) on why the HD2 is better than iPhone 3GS in versus type explanation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9cOMoouatY&feature=related . The HD2 is a versatile device. It has the capability of running Windows Mobile 6.5, Windows Mobile 6.5.x, and new to the device many versions of android. I personally enjoy its big 4.3 inch screen. It has a pretty good 5 megapixel camera with a dual LED flash.
Exception: The phone overheats alot!
That's funny,

Whats funny is this was a monutmental breakthrough in cellular phones. The precvious model looked like a car battery with a phone on top. My neighboor got the first car/cell phone ever made and showed it off to the neighboorhood. It was funny because no one ,,,, got it. No one understood what that big ass cynderblock represented and what it would lead too. So when ever I see the older cell phones I think back to the original and laugh thinking, if you'd been carrying that car battery the past 2 years this thing looks like its from startrek.
I here there will be a new Brick just around the corner

my favorite is the htc hd2 too, but thats because i love winmo, and i love the option to boot android too (wich works just awsome, better then i thought).
but for a totaly new person, i wouldnt recommend to buy a winmo 6.5 phone, cause that OS is sadly dying more and more, and the hd2 will probably the last winmo device.. ;(
i would wait for a new phone to come out..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=599210
I'd go for the hd2, I don't own it. But I like the device.
sent from my x10i that is banging for a 2.1 upgrade. ...
Now i have a motorola dext. pretty good phone, really.
But i love the NexusOne and the HD2, if i have money i buy one.
I love my HD2. Even before I Android running on it. WinMo is smooth as silk on it. I love options too.
I love my diamond,if i have money i would buy a desire!
Well, mine is the Desire.I own it,I love Android,I love the device itself and would recommend it to everyone!
Thanks for the Replies
Wow, everyone seems to LOVE the HD2 here, and HATE it on howardforums.
I really don't know what to do. :/
i just got my new n shiny galaxy s n i m just lovin it..
To me:
Android: Dell Streak
Winmo: HD2
WinPhone 7: whatever next from HTC
I love my X10a, it's super good looking
I have a vibrant and hd2...I don't like my hd2...I would say any of the new samsung galaxy s phones with the new bright colorfull screens!

There are Windows 7 Tablets, just like the were Vista & XP tablets. They just aren't common place or that popular. Just google "Windows 7 Tablet" & you'll find a lot of scattered information. Tablets only recently became popular with the iPad/Android tablets which a Windows 7 Tablet would never stand a chance against as it's not finger friendly. The whole reason for Windows 8 using the WP7 Metro UI.
I'll be buying the Iconia W500 later this month. There's also a version that runs android too under the name Iconia A500... The Iconia A500 actually has a subforum here at XDA already.
I went to compusa last week as they had one on display that I could play with. The great thing was it comes with a keyboard dock that more or less turns it into a netbook too.
Search for Windows 8,

I played around with the ASUS *something* Windows 7 tablet (i meant to say windows 7 "phone" tablet in the title) that had the i5 CPU. It didn't feel completely right though.
I don't really think the actual windows 7 truly belongs in tablets.

Welcome to the "early mover" marketing strategy. People bought the iPad because there was nothing else (yet) and since there are a ton of suckers that bought it, people think it is near impossible for anything else to beat it.
I know this is not out yet, but it should be in a few months if the information is correct: http://www.gizmodigit.com/asus-eee-...ream-sandwich-tipped-for-octnov-release-date/

It looks so much like Android.
I'm confused. This may sound like a separate topic but, since Android is open source, does it mean that I can copy it over and change it around and call it MyMobileOS and sell it for money?
Is what XiaoMi phone is doing legal? They just take Google's code and change it around and massively put it on their own phones and sell for money?

HTC screens are garbage. I personally think that if Samsung was to go ahead and make this move without continuing to release any Android phones then that would be a negative decision on their part financially.

U would leave android because sammy did?
I seriously doubt the SGSII will have anything but android on it but I certainly don't doubt them making a phone with another OS. look at how many android phones sammy makes. you think they will stop all that?
Tizen is also open source - so you should not pay any money to have it. And looking into the source code - all of the drivers are under Apache License with Samsung as owner. We will probably see Samsung running Tizen soon. Not to mention that Intel is supporting the project hoping that they may enforce x86 instead of ARM processors arch (the same way they are forcing Thunderbird instead of USB). Android got one major flaw - that's the java virtual machine or I should say Oracle.
Looks like a Touch Wiz OS. Low end devices most likely, similar to Bada.

Oh c'mon with the exaggeration.. they're a far cry from 'garbage'!
Samsung screens are nice but the colours (from what I have seen personally) are over saturated in comparison to others such as HTC, which have more natural colours, something a lot of people appreciate.
My best friend has a GS2 and while his screen is nice, it's also tinted yellow because the colour temperature is way off, so the colours on my 1 year old Desire HD actually look better. He's not alone either there's a 200+ page thread on it. Then there's the banding issues people are having on the Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Note displays.
What I'm getting at is all current screens have their downsides but they're all far from being garbage.
i think that's a new incarnation of BADA OS
It's a bada os, but it'll be open-source this time.
I don't know who need this... Bada failed, Tizen will fail too.
This would be a HUGE mistake. Right now, people love Android, and some of us have quite a bit of money invested in apps and other things. I don't see many devs jumping ship either...
So I just saw this article about the Vertu TI - that will cost approx $10,700.
Starts at 7,900 euros, or about $10,700
Specs:
TI a 3.7-inch touchscreen,
a dual-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 processor,
and an 8-megapixel camera.
There’s also NFC and 64GB of internal storage, plus a front-facing webcam.
Clearly the reporters don't know much because they stated that it is Up-to-date with the OS running ICS
"Luckily, Vertu is mostly up-to-date on Google’s OS. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is installed and it’s smooth and speedy:"
According to reports " the TI is gorgeous, understated, and elegant, while remaining purposeful and unique"
Honestly I think it looks hideous. Esp with that price for the phone it better be made of gold.

I'd totally buy if i had the cash, and use it as a phone for leisure, would go well with my GS3, IMO.
Great to see a Vertu smartphone running a post-2010 OS, they were really being held back by Nokia and Symbian.
I think it is realy weird they don't use a propper Hardware for that amount of money and at least Android 4.1.x for a new Device

I agree. For the price, it seems to fall short on a lot of aspects. They should at least provide something worth the cash (equal to the specs of a mid-high end computer) rather then attempting to exploit people :/
Vertu again? Oh I remember those days when they modified and tried to sell some obscenely overpriced Nokia back in the days when nokia ruled.
Silly ... And by the way, this one here looks kinda ugly and those buttons look really cheap.
