You have to remount the /system partition as RW. You can do this one of two ways:
adb remount
or from the shell:
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
Then you have to copy the APK into the right folder which is:
/system/app
So try:
cp /sdcard/fresh-removed-apks-3/HtcFMRadio.apk /system/app
navigate to fresh folder and type those commands above. Just use WifiRouter.apk instead of FM Radio.

Thanks for your reply but I just tried this and still get the same thing...

Hello I'm getting the same thing as well, I'm running the lated version of fresh also. I am very new at this and do not understand any of the steps you all just mentioned other than the part about zipping up the file and flashing it from recovery. I did try that method and it did not work. I would like to know if there is a much more user friendly method of doing this. I would appreciate any help.
thanks

try this one.. taken from a zip in the first post on the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735596
version 2.2.1 gmail.apk
You may need to push through ADB as it was taken from a flashable package.
Edit: I can confirm this works. Just installed it on my phone. Rebooted and got the "whats new" screen when first opening gmail. Also reply button is at the top along with all other changes.
To install, copy over to /system/app with root explorer or push through ADB with "adb push Gmail.apk /system/app"
Verified also working on other phones. Also, if you are on an odex'd rom, make sure you delete original .apk and .odex files.
works good on Fresh 3.1.0.1, thanks!
I am running BS 1.4 and I can't get it to work. I was an idiot and overwrote the original gmail.apk. Do yall have the original froyo gmail.apk.
Thanks ahead.
Never mind I got it to work and I love it.
Thanks superevilllama!!!
I can install the APK onto my phone but I wouldn't mind waiting for the official release of the app.
Does anyone know how it will become available? Is it through an OTA or will it be in the Market?
What else has changed besides the snapping to top reply button bar?

If I would have posted that, I probably would have searched the marketplace first to find out that no you cannot, at least not yet.
I think google may be moving everything towards being able to update individual gapps through the marketplace, but not quite yet. Plus I am not sure whether this has been officially released.
Can anyone explain how to install this via terminal emulator?
I've tried "cp" and I've tried "install" - always get the "File exists" error.
Am I using the wrong command? Can't use adb since I'm not at my computer for a while.

Try just cut and paste with root explorer and reboot. A whole lot easier.
Either way you have to mount /system/app as RW before it will let you modifiy it.

Metamorph not working

Well I am trying to install metamorph on my girlfriends rooted EVO to give her the modified notification bar but when I try to open it it says there is not enough space on /system. There is plenty of space both on the phone and sd card, tried re-installing with no luck. This never happened when I used it on my phone.
Is there any other way other than adb to install that modified notification bar?
I had the same issue with metamorph, fixed it by using root explorer to mount /system as RW. Make sure you remount it as RO after you reinstall metamorph

Yeah I read about that method but I am being kind of cheap lol Is there not another way?

Well looks like that will be the only way then. Is there a guide on how to do this exactly?
Still cant get this to work...
Just keep trying it, mine said that the first two times and when I tried again it was working. Its seems to be a bug or something, keep trying.
Tried numerous times over the past 3 weeks. Also tried root explorer by mounting /system as rw and nothing.
What info?
Anyone have a solution yet?
Did you run busy box before mounting as RW?

How exactly do I do that? Doesnt CM6.1 come with it or do I install via titanium backup?
And do I just go into root explorer, mount, and then exit and then try to open metamorph again?
In hboot at the top does it say s off? I had this sort of problem before and found out that I had s on.(not sure how it came back on though) if that is the case there is an update.zip in the unrevoked thread that will fix it.
Ill check when I have the phone again later (its my girlfriends). Used the new unrevoked to root it.

Installing cwm not via gnufabio's recovery installer app

Just bought a new TF. The serial is BCO..... Rooted via nachoroot. Superuser installed from market. Everything that requires root works except gnufabio's recovery installer app. Everytime I try to run the app, it keeps saying "sorry you are not rooted!"
Can't seem to find a cwm version that can be flashed via the stock recovery. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks.
Added by edit.
Nevermind. Figured out what was wrong. Problem solved. Recovery installer works.
Share please.... I'm having the same problem and would like to know.

Have you tried installing it via ROM Manager?

Did you install ota rootkeeper, backup root, and tested out before trying to install the recovery installer app? That's what I did. To solve, you need to redo the rooting procedure.

Ti Backup, Ad Block, Root Check Basic all say I have root and I can read/write the / filesystem. Maybe because I did it with nachoroot.
Same here, on ww.8.6.6.23 rooted....but it says no root. I did install vodoo ota root keeper...already unistalled and deleted backup.

It seems easy right, what if my TF101 does not allow me to copy and past to the system files, even after downloading the proper Root Explorer files. Why is that why can't I just copy and paste, is there a way I can control this via PC?

[mohan_kr][KERNEL] Stock UCALC4 (ICS) - CWM - insecure, bash

Due to xda new member rules, I have to resort to the General Section. The new ICS kernel, has locked down adb root access. What this means is when you adb shell you will be dropped into normal shell (even though you have su installed). This would probably help ROM creaters who are bundling the kernel. It has init.d support and the bootanimation (this file should be /system/media/bootanimation.zip, if it does not work, link it as sanim.zip)
* This also defaults to bash shell when you (adb shell) not the default ICS mksh. Also, it can read bash_profile from /sdcard/bash_profile
db.tt/RcDapiMg (prepend with) as xda does not allow this yet
Cheers

sorry but how is this different from the kernel romracer released?
I think its exactly the same. Regardless neither one let me delete the .qmg files in system/media in order to add a bootanimation

I tried this, didn't work, still gets stuck on Shutting down...
I flashed the CWM Touch recovery and found that the shutdown/reboot freezing was gone.
I used the odin flash with the Roboto font from here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/19217-recovery-clockworkmod-touch-5504-v2/
oh, and after flashing this CWM, I reflashed the superuser zip and was finally able to mount and modify /system

Got remount,rw of system working by reflashing the UCALC4 one click, then CWM 5.5.0.4, then this kernel and superuser via CWM, only then allowing system to fully boot. Then installed busybox.
Seems that if UCALC4 stock kernel is allowed to fully boot I'm not able to remount system as rw. It appears to remount, but the /proc/mounts shows it as ro and attempts to write system result in 'read-only filesystem'.

Yup, the stock kernel the f**ls changed the adbd to not honor the ro.secure flag. If you have any ICS builds, drop in the adbd and viola...

Why can't I edit build.prop or push to /system/app?

Odd.
In the original firmware I was able to edit build.prop to change my dpi to 120 but now I cannot. It won't save any changes. Also, I tried pasting an .apk into my /system/app folder and it blocked me. Then I tried pushing it with adb and it gave me a read-only error.
I know I am rooted - can run Titanium Backup, etc.
Anyone have any idea?

Root explorer can be finicky.
Also try clearing it out of super su and and reallowing it. Or wipe app data.
But from my experience with root explorer, I have always hated it!! Try File Manager HD, It is great and has root explorer and system mountable all the time

I was wondering if you have resolved this issue because im having the same problem now. Do you recall doing anything that may have caused this issue? Everything for me started going heywire once i installed init.d support just a second ago. I Can r/w and r/o in certain parts of the system but i cant paste anything anywhere. I also noticed increase cpu load afterwards. Might i add this is the second time i have had these issues after installing init.d support script. The way i solved this the first time was i had to odin stock firmware and this solved everything. Id like to refrain from doing this again though because ill loose all my stuffs and have to set everything up again.

How did you achieve root? In other threads, problems with write access to /system are reported when a rooted firmware was flashed. Only the method with CWM (install CWM, flash SuperSU) did work.

Oh the first time i rooted with the CWM method. But the second time, i did odin a rooted firmware Now that i think about it, the first time i was able to write to /system but now i can't after a rooted firmware flash. So the init.d script wasnt the problem. I just made an assumption because before, i havent touched anything in /system but when i installed init.d script it was actally the first time i tried to edit /system after the rooted firmware. So yes looks like im going to have to odin a stock non-rooted firmware. Thanks man! Makes alot of since now.
edit: couldn't i just try the cwm method and see it it overwrites, cause the only UEALGB firmware i can find is prerooted. I don't want to switch to UEALH2.

Try Root Explorer(or ES File Explorer) & enable R/W for system files
Check your SuperSU/Superuser app.
See if your access is granted & not denied.
If SuperSU/Superuser asking for update, update it (usually binary update)
If your SuperSU/Superuser is gone, re-install it from Play Store & run it for the first time to update binary.
Retry modifying your system file(s)
