hi there .....
i dont know when u read this u might say ..." and the noob came out -.-""
this is my first android phone for me and i was locked with the old firmware ...
was so tough to find froyo 2.2 for me and found it here ...
so first of all thanks
ever since i found many people saying " crashes " cuz they upgraded a wrong patch or something like that
i did it right in the first time .... so noob took me 4 dayz to figure out that google market wont work in syria ...
this made me re-patch 4 times ... and got all the crashes and those stuff ....
more ??? since the newbie doesnt know there are alts for the market ... i needed some more apps to be present since i cant have the market
i downlaoded the gapps tiny at first .. then desperately patched the mid one ....
which had the market issue ... i wanted the market " although its not available !! "
so i patched again the tiny one .. but i didn't wipe everything as in usual upgrade ... this way I've got the market solved with much more apps ...
( now im using market alts ... but i thought this might be useful )
thanks for ur time .... hope the newbie added something good for the xda's

Find your phone in the forum, find a post for a custom rom or check for a cyanogenmod rom (try cyanogenmod.com) and look for the gapps zip file. Unzip it, find the market app, put it on your sdcard and install it. Simple as that.
not really experienced
As iam a new user to Android/smartphones i have no idea about what is ROM :$ :$
when i search the forums for ROM , i find froyo and some related stuff, tho i have no idea to install it.
any further assistance would be really nice
You could start by telling us some information.
Device, carrier, your location (country), and where you got device since it doesn't have market already on it.
good day.
@ chopper thank u for replying , well
i Live in Egypt , i bought the unlocked version of samsung galaxy S , probably it's an middle east version but it looks exactly like the europian with the googleTM on the back and Samsung logo
first of all. i use Vodafone network
2nd. about the phone
Model Number GT-i9000
Frimware Version 2.1-update1
basband version: I9000JXJG2
Kernal version: 2.6.29 ( [email protected]#2)
Build Number : ECLAIR JPJG8
what else do you need me to do ?
NOTE: the Galaxy S is not yet officially released here , i guess maybe they flashed my mobile with an middle east Rom to support arabic ( which is not really important to me )
First get "Astro" (file manager) on your device. And a killer thread is HERE. You can copy apk's to card and install with astro. Good luck.
good day.
i will do it right now , but does this means i will be able to download / install / use the android market ?
Just stumbled upon this thread HERE. Looks like what you need. Get to know the XDA search function and there is a i9000 specific forum as well.
good day.
i will install it tomorrow and let you know of the results , Good night
Thanks and have a good day
stay tuned

I'm new of this forum and i knew that there was a working development for the honecomb OS for SGT ! But know seems that every project working on it is dead ...
There is a reson ? There is any version of HC working quite good ?? and maybe a complete guide to know how to install it ?
I tryed to search something on the forum but all i can found is some thread with not working link and OLD replies ... what's the situation now ?
Thee samsung galaxy tab came with honeycomb. Unless you mean the original one in which case the is a CM9 rom that's out. Hopefully this helps you.
thanks .. now i have just to understand why i can't download the ROM ... i may need 10 posts ?
but there is a simple guide to try to install CM9 + humberOS kernel on gtab ? i can't find anything like that ... i can't not download the rom .... i have to compile the rom ??
hi, as i got not enough posts to be able to ask questions in the development forums i got to post this question here.. i am using a samsung galaxy s2 by the way..
previously was using checkrom v6 so i decided to try out ics roms.. i flashed neat rom but after a few days i decided to flash back to checkrom.. so i restored my nandroid backup but i noticed that my baseband version didnt change.. it is still LPS.. i wanna check if it is because of the baseband version thus disallowing me to update some gapps from the play store.. the error displayed was 'application requires newer sdk version'..
any help? thanks!!
hi.. anyone help? do i flash my baseband to others or i clear google play cache??
Did you hack your device ? , like tricking Android Market into believing that your apps are compatible with your phone when it's actually not . Because if you did , then that's a bad matter . I believe that if you have a back up , flash that backup and reinstall the Google Apps . That works for me ;
After installing the google apps , if you still want the apps which are incompatible to be compatible , I would suggest you to look at darkguy2008's thread . Yes! you will need your brain and your finger for this one . His thread is very precise and accurate , so , there shouldn't be any problem unless you thought it wrongly . Although that i don't think it is wise to do this , however , good luck to you .
thanks for the link.. shall give it a read..
Hi guys,
as i said in the title im completely new to all this. My mum has a desire s and i think the sense software is rubbish..hence i want to install MIUI. I have an iPhone which was extremely easy to JB and ive been searching around for help rooting/flashing an MIUI rom to the Desire S but damn it looks complex :| and im being extra cautious because its my mum's phone and i dont want to brick it.
After searching im still confused..
Do i need to root to flash MIUI?
If so, how? Can i use this method? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525100 Is there anything i need to do before and/or after I use this method?
Also, this is the MIUI rom i've found..http://forums.miui.us/showthread.php?2543-ROM-HTC-Desire-S-(saga)
It says the kernel is included in the download, but does that require a seperate installation?
Can someone help me please? Been looking around for days and just not getting it :/
Help will be greatly appreciated!
Sorry, I don't want to sound rude , but , have you checked the first couple of pages here on Q&A ? There are at least a couple of threads with similar querries ....
Plus, there's INDEX (with everything you require) for help , as always !
I'd suggest you read more , before even thinking of S OFF or Rooting!
Best of luck ....
i dunno about your 1st question but once u "jb" ur android, the kernel will be in the same zip so that when u flash the rom, u chg the rom and also the kernel. u will need to flash "gapps" as well if the is no play.market app.
as for your question 1 i use a different method so i cant comment on that.
but do be reminded to do each step and tick it off slowly once u done. DO NOT skip/miss a step. I actually took 2 days 2 nights reading through before rooting it, and i still made a mistake(as i was in a hurry for class, wrong timing for rooting). but once u read through the doing part will be quite fast. next thing u know u can flash different roms when ever ur mom gets bored of her phone interface.
try flashing different rom before and see which is faster and slicker.
try getting a "aokp" rom, it give u more to configure around. miui doesnt have a drawer and it looks alot like an iphone interface if that is what ur mom wants.
hey guys i was instrested in roms creating ,i have a good experience with linux i think that im gonna start but there is a little problem i dont really know where to start from im sure that some of you may say why i havent used google or the search button up there but when i found android kitchen on github in this forum also it was outdated 3 years ago ! if any of you still using it , is it compatible .
