I like widgets, who doesn't, but what i am looking for is a way to hide a widget and then show it, or a different one. Much like the spring board idea in sweeter home. Is this possible? if so, without root? app suggestions?

Hi guys,
I've been trying to find out how to do this without using an app like BetterCut or something like it.
I like the simplicity of the folders icons on my home screen, but I want to change the plain manila folders. Is there a way I can find some icons and push them to the phone. The last thing I want is another app to do this for me. I rooted my phone so I didn't have to use apps to customize. I know apps like Folder Organizer can do something similar, but this is not what I'm talking about. Every thread I've searched and read through doesn't seem to get it.
Any help or direction would be much appreciated.
Also, I'm running LauncherPro.
I would like to find out how to do this without an app. Does anyone have instructions on how to manually change icons and folder looks on home screen and in app drawer?
i was looking at the continuum on verizon and i thought "what's with the awkward location of the soft keys between the two screens" and "why have 2 in the first place." but the idea of a ticker was nice. i also didnt think it was versatile enough. and thought if that was a spot for another 1x4 standard android widget and could scroll through several widgets that you choose it would be better but then why not do it on one screen and put it on the market.
so i had the idea of either a 1x4 widget that actually holds other widgets and/or links and scrolls through them every 5 seconds or so, you could have all your favorite widgets on one screen inside a dock.
or why not a home launcher with a with a dockbar can not only hold a 1/1 icon links/shortcuts but could also hold widgets up to 1x4. add in the ticker widget and then you would always have it on screen, not just on one home screen.
i realize a ticker wouldn't be for everyone, it could get quite annoying but i think i would like to see the option available. a dock bar that holds a widget might get some downloads i think
does anyone else have any thoughts? good idea/bad idea? anyone who can make this sort of thing happen interested? my brother could do it but he wont speak to me anymore.
i know some of the launchers out there can do a lot and this sort of thing may already be possible but take some know how. i mean i saw an lcars theme for a launcher that went against everything i know about the android gui. but i have no idea how to do that sort of thing.
Okay so I've been using ultimate faves pro instead of folders to organize my apps. But lack of updates and blurry icons, amongst other things, ruin it. On the plus side I can put the shortcuts in my dock bar. I really like the look and feel of circle launcher but no shortcuts, just widgets for each launcher so alas there's no ability to put them in the dock bar. So, any way of a dev making an app that's the best of both worlds? Thanks.
Hi, I am looking for a way to automatically freeze/defrost/launch an application but from the app drawer.
Titanium backup has a widget that performs exactly this way except that being a widget, it cannot be run from the app drawer.
I do not use items on the homescreen (aside from the dock), nor do I wish to. Currently using Apex lanucher.
So, the main questions are:
Is there a way to use widgets in the app drawer?
Is there a way to perform the function of Titanium Backup freeze/defrost/launch without a widget, yet more automated.
Is there a way to 'intercept' between the app icon and the launching process to auto freeze/defrost the app?
Have been searching for an answer to this for a long time. Ideally if this could be done with full automation, ie when you install a new app it automatically gets a freeze/defrost icon/link/widget/etc without having to set it up.
Any help, info, thoughts, would help immensely.
A bit of a bump as I'd be interested in this too.
There is likely a custom launcher that allows widgets in folders or the app drawer, no?
I have a sort of solution for you that sort of works (hear me out)
I guess you don'tl like the clutter that comes with homescreen widgets (me too)
Heres what i did: use nova launcher, and have multiple docks (swipe to change). You CAN place widgets (1x1 certainly) in the dock, and then just hide it away by swiping to a differnt dock.
I must admit it doesnt work amazingly well when you press it, and takes some time to work sometimes, but its kind of a work around.
I use this solution currently for my Wifi High Performance Widget (1x1), which doesnt need to be touched so its in the dock
Hope this helps
Hey guys, iam no novice to Android, did a ton of modding/theming/flashing on my MDK s4, and my s3 before that. But for some reason I can't put my own widgets on the lockscreen.
Yes, in security settings I have multiple widgets enabled. But for some reason I can't remove the stock widget and add my own. It's super frustrating. Normally I use Apex launcher but iam sticking with blinkfeed for the moment. So so I need to use a different launcher to get my own widgets? Or is there some other trick? All I want is to use dash clock as my lock screen widget, then poweramp and my news apps to the right. Thanks.
