Hi everyone, I have had my tilt for awhile now and I would like to up-date the phone. Am new to all this, so please excuse my ignorance. Is it possible to remove all the AT&T stuff and install something ells? I saw a guy with the same phone and he had his set-up like the I-phone is that possible, if someone could help with this that would be very cool Thanks so much.
Yes, its possible. Its called rom flashing, download what I have at the bottom then see one of the guides to do it. Select the rom you like then flash it to your phone. (Flashing means it puts the OS again and some other files or the same files)
how about start reading some of the stickies???

As close as you could get, before you start wearing black turtle neck sweaters and saying BOOM!
hey, i am a current Maemo 5 user and untill 2 days ago a iphone user aswell.
i got so sick of the iphone, with it being slow and restricted even after i jail broke it.
anyway 2 days ago i got offered a trade for my iphone 3g 8gb for a HTC Magic (Vodafone) , this is the first time i had ever used the Android OS and i was very impressed with it, so much better than iOS.
So as i am still very much a beginner on this platform i was wondering if you could point me in the right direction on rooting it. I know you probably get this all the time, but i have spent hours on Google and have found a lot of different methods to root it, and i am unsure on which one to take, with so much different information it kinda gets confusing after a while .
so if someone could post a link on a good guide for me to start on and working links for the files needed, that would be most appreciated.
i am fairly technical minded as i successfully Flash/Mod/Hack Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, PSP, Iphone and other things....
the info that i think is relevant for which guide i need to follow.
HTC Magic (Vodafone)
Firmware Version : 1.6
Sapphire PVT 32B Ship S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0004
CPLD-10
Vodafone Branded
My main goal for rooting is that i want to remove the Vodafone app and splash screen, and in my experience Generic Firmwares are normally alot better, I heard sumat about using Custom ROMS?
and one question, do i need to back up all the contacts etc before rooting?
Thanks to anyone who helps me, and sorry if i have posted it in the wrong section.
Here, and here.
Search is your friend.
thanks very much.
i actually rooted it and installed cyanogen 6 last night, was to late to post that i had done it.
it was extremely easy surprisingly
anyway all is going good apart from 2 things.
when the GPS initiates (the little satellite flashes on status bar.) the phone reboots, everytime. not sure why. but i have had to disable GPS until i can fix it.
will this be a suitable fix? hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782242
and alot of the time my signal bars show no signal, but it jumps up and down abit , then goes back to zero...
but other than that i love it now
I downloaded the XDA wifi modem to my htc touch pro 2 but I can't figure out how to find it/use it
Can someone help this way less than savey tech person...
Thank you
Ok, I found it, installed it. Told me the install was successful
Now I can't find the short cut. Went into WiFi and it is not there, went to the start menu and it is not there...
I finally install the darn thing and it confirms success and I can't find it.
Can't anyone help?
Hi
I've a number of questions hope someone can point me in the right direction or tell me the answers
My senstation, now over a year old was on o2 but now giff gaff, essentially the same, I've ran through all the auto updates and I'm now on ICS but every time the phone starts it installs 45 updates. That said I've had no problems ever with the phonewifi or anything else.
BUT
other than changing the rom is there any way i can strip all the crap down to only the essential apps and those i choose/use

Hi,
Why don't you look into using ROM Cleaner
Best way of clearing out ALL the poo.
OK, I have looked through the forum and threads but cannot yet see my solution so I need help!
Problem.... I have a second hand HTC Orbit 2 running Windows but .... it has car ID and password log-on that I think is a TOM TOM addition and I cannot get passed it and I need to get rid of it....if possible!
I have tried all the listed hard re-sets and they do not work.
If someone suggest re-installing Windows and deleting everything that would be fine by me, but I will need help doing that!
I would just prefer to get rid of the log-on. It is not my main phone it is just a project, I have a XDA Orbit (nice reliable phone)
So lets get the ball rolling ... can you help me?
