voicemail app - General Questions and Answers

Is there a voicemail application for windows mobile that will answer you phone and save the message directly to your phone? I'm in china and my service provider does not have a voicemail service, so i know it would not be hard to make an application which answeres the phone after a certain amount of time and plays a message to the person calling, then saves what they have to say.

oh i guess it would be called an answering machine, I found a topic more than 3 years old about it, but i guess it still hasn't been made yet... I'll keep looking though to make sure...

looked for this a long time ago, i think there is a hardware limitation that doesn't allow this.

I don't know if you've come across this yet or anything, but i thought i'd just post this page. Maybe it will work, i'll try it then post what happens

fuze set up done right (please help)

ok, I've had my fuze since the day it came out and didn't do a thing right, I didn't even install a .cab until about a week ago because I didn't know how. I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to this type of stuff, so I'm here now asking for help. I just did a hard reset so I was back to factory settings, logged into here and starting posting this, I came here because you all seem really kind and genuinely willing to help morons like me. So I'm here asking: what should I do? Would someone be willing to write a list of all the things I should install (preferable in order) and even give a link to the thread where it was made (so we can read about it and properly thank the creators) because no joke, I messed something up and I would get a message popping up every minute or so, I couldn't download anything or do much, so I figured I'd restart the thing have have some people who actually know what they're doing help me out and give me a list of things to do, I'm sure I'm not the only one this would help
special thanks to those that've helped:
none yet, be the first =]
honestly all i can say is, read this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410159
follow those links, which will help u out tremendously..and u should be good to go.
if theres anything else u cant seem to find in those links..use the search funtion it HELPS SO MUCH!
Late,

thanks, also, I remember hearing that advanced configuration tool 3.3 is a great thing to download, however when I tried to find it I came up short, is this something I have to download via comp, then transfer? Or can I download it straight to the phone? because I'm on a road trip right now just sitting here trying to get my phone awesome
Advanced Config Link
I searched on "Advanced Config" and this link was the first hit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070
You should be able to download the cab to your phone (or storage card) and just execute it.
Another good link for really getting your phone "right" is this one (which also has many of the CAB's you'll want/need): http://fuze.cassiebaby.com/
I'll note again, however, that you really need to spend some time familiarizing yourself with the search functions...most of the questions you'll have are answered (and you'll not draw ire of folks). And, per above post, spend some time reading the wiki's...

Text Message Retry Program

Hi,
I've recently HardSPL'd my phone and installed EnergyROM Photon. The one thing I am missing from the stock ROM is the program/app called "Text Message Retry." It used to attempt to resend my SMS's if they didn't go through, now they are just dumped into "Drafts" and it doesn't try again. This was very useful since my work environment (networking equipment lab) has spotty service in some locations. Could anyone/has anyone seen a *.cab for this? I'm thinking about seeing if I could use SK Tools to pull it from the stock, via reflashing to stock and making it from there. However, I'm not sure if I could use SK tools to make a .cab from something preinstalled.
Any advice would be appreciated...
Also if there is another program out there that would do that same thing that would work too.
I presume your carrier is Verizon? I have seen this on a Verizon TP (1). I tried to extract it and run it on a Sprint phone but no joy.
I too, would like to see an "auto retry" solution for failed SMS.
That is correct, I'm using a Verizon TP2. I actually found one late last night, it was said to have been from a Samsung Omnia but it looks the same as the one I had, minus the icon. I've not seen if it works yet, so far no missed SMS's today.
It is located:
http://forum.smartphonejunkie.com/f551/omnia-package-189721/
I might go wander around and try to test it but we've been busy today.
Interesting... If you are a member of that site, please post the file here. I'd be curious to see if it works with Sprint phones.
Thanks.
I'm home now and have the .cab file, now lets see if I can upload it. I'm not sure if its working yet.
Does this actually work if your vzw? also that for a wqvga device. the font is super tiny
i wantr this app to but for some reason it did not come with my phone either. TMobile
I discovered that in 6.5 it is included as a service. I think it should be running on everyone's phone so I kinda gave up working on it. The reason it came in the stock VZW ROM was because that was 6.1

WM6.5 and Avaya as dialler

Hi,
I am new on this portal but I read a lot in the last days and was very surprised of the solutions you find and also the apps you made working. Great
I know its not looking very good to ask as newbie for help but I hope you can help me... I am searching for more than a week for a solution and tried even to edit the registry but unfortunately I am not good enough to find the solution
So what do I want do to?
I have a HD2 (branding free) and I want to install Avaya One-X mobile.
Well the installation was succesfull and I also get it running inside my company and also the private modus. But since I have it installed I hear no ringtone. It always plays an "ding" and thats all.
So right now I always have to keep my eyes on my mobile to see if someone calls me or not.
And the second problem is that I also get no caller picture displayed..
But as soon as I deinstall the one-x everything is working (phone rings and caller picture is displayed)????
So you are my last hope to find a solution. Please can you help me?
If you need any further infos please let me know
Thanks
Frank
oh... the one-x mobile software is free for download on the avaya webiste
I can post you the link later (I am not allowed to post it right now...)
i'm getting mad with it...
Now I am a step further.. I now that the software deactivates the onboard call handler. I think it is only a registry setting to reenable it. after done the caller name+picture should be displayed and even the call-slider should be back.
Does someone have an idea where I can find the entry?
well now I know exactly the differents between the registry with one-x installed vs without. But I have no experiences in reading/interpreting my results.
Is a Dword something which can be used as name? or is it only a value?
Does someone has a guide for beginners please?
Did you contact Avaya support for assistance?
I have recently taken over all our telecoms at the office (avaya system)
Saw your post on One-x and been reading a little on it. Where did you get the install files from and did you get it working in the end?
I have a support contact with a company called central so I can contact them for free advice if needed
is this the version you are using?
http://support.avaya.com/css/appman...loads/P0438/5.2.x/C201012083328498084#summary
I'll take a look at what the installer does as I've not heard of it before but it's not letting me register to download it .
yep that's the software I am trying to download
Could not create an account either
I have emailed my support company and they will be sending the software to me on a disc.
thanks for your responses.
I installed the version for pocketpc WM6 (not the UC version) and yes it is working fine
But:
The problem I have is that since I have it installed it
- my mobile does not play a ringtone any more
- "slide to answer" and "show caller name+picture" is away
When I get the disc tomorrow ill post up the results.
This app will be very helpful if i get it working
As for the no ringtone issue I am not sure.
I would attach it... but i have no permissions...
@ fards: there are two versions. one for "Windows mobile 5"and the other one for "Windows mobile pocket pc" (here you can find it for WM6). the first is a UC versions. For this you need an internet connection and a uc-server running in your company. the other one is for normal mobile use. it calls via the phone connection the server and then your call is managed by the server.
support.avaya.com/css/appmanager/public/support/Downloads/P0483/C20090710162819340875658#files
you can find it here for free and you need no login
I do not see the HD2 listed as compatible device.
Did you get it working or still having problems?
How does the Avaya interface on the mobile phone look like?
Is it replacing the WM dialer completly or only while Avaya software is running in the background?
I have just installed it onto my HD2. The install hung at the end for about 20 mins. Reset device and the software has replaced my dialer. Appears to be working but im reading on how to configure the ini file now.
Tested on personal mode and call connected fine.
it replaces the dialer completly...
for the ini file you need the settings of your ACM. here you have to enter different extensions for each function...
you also has to to enter your mobile number in the ACM. Because your are identified via your number.
But can you test if you get a ringtone for incoming calls? thats my problem. I get no
Just to draw a conclusion to this This topic. This solution does not work correctly on HD2. Unless someone has managed to do this and has not shared?
sry... I was offline for a while... Does somesone find the solution?
No i gave up in the end..... bloody crap

Tellme Application for the HD2

Hi Guys,
Just wanted everyone to know there is a free app called:
http://www.tellme.com/you
Its like Microsoft Voice Command.....maybe it is....maybe its whats included in the new WP7S, however its an app that works on 6.5 and its great, fast and I actually like it.
Take a look and watch the video too.
got a cab of it?
Right, It's USA only... HD2 isn't even on the list and not downloadable on that website.
So whats this post all about?
There is a cab available, it does work on the HD2, to a certain extent. It's from the Samsung Intrepid, which I believe is a non-touchscreen phone, so touchscreen doesn't work properly (and we don't have arrow keys to compensate).
The program promises a lot, but delivers poorly. The voice recognition is quite poor (on my Scottish accent anyway). It can dictate a text message, but you'll be lucky if it picks up anything you're saying correctly.

Thats true it doesnt work properly with non-american accents. I tried to search for La Tasca, it came back with a resualt of blackass.com ???????
I had to speak slow, but it did work eventually.
Out of interest, do anyof you have a cab for Microsof Voice Command ? I have the 1.6 version however it doesnt work on my HD2

Make sure you use the corect MVS, i used 1.6 and it killed phone, not responsive to anything so hard reset saved me.
It actually requires MVS to work correctly but as others mentioned, its not good. Unlike the Youtube demo, it barely recognised what i say on several occasions and i spoke very cleary, slow and with no strong accent etc. Needs alot more work.
does not work at all on my hd2
i installed it and it loaded initially, then when i try to start it, it doesnt come up at all. i tried to install a new version of microsoft compact framework or whatever but then the phone will tell me i have to remove the previous version ,but then i obviously cant b ecause it does not appear in the remove programs list. this is very frustrating, can anybody help me?

Only worry about a newer version of .Net if you're actually told by an application that you need it. Also, when installing something and it tells you you need to remove the existing version, that means it's already installed. The .Net 3.5 installation will not tell you you need to uninstall .Net 2.0, so you've already got the version you tried to install. Just forget about it.
I believe it needs MSVC to work, although I'm not sure. I think I had to install MSVC.
I've never installed it since, since it was so crap - I have a very neutral accent, and even tried an American accent, but it was still pish.
i have it on my TP2......it suuuucks and my accent IS american, lol.
btw, it will put asterisks in place when you use curse words, haha, at least it recognizes them with no problem, go figure!
I tried to send a text message, it got everythin right, but the message just sat in my outbox ...
Anyone else try this??
Marty
i just noticed that 'translation', blackass.com, lol. i wonder what you would have got if you DID ask for blackass.com! :O) ahhh, technology, more fun than the proverbial barrel of monkeys at times!
better this , voice ommander or something else? just to understand the maerket now
works great on my tmobile htc hd2
Oh, I hate TellMe so much I want to scream. I've managed to successfully use it on two occasions (where it actually understands what I've said). More often than not, it simply "thinks" and "thinks" until, ultimately, saying "Sorry, didn't catch that". I don't doubt that it works great for some people, but for this thick-accented outer-Bostonian, TellMe is an exercise in futility (and definitely not an app to break out to show off the HD2's power!!).

I'm having the same problem.
I downloaded the TellMe application for HD2 at mobile underground
I have installed the WMPPC_TP_TP2_HD2.cab on my device and the application runs but when I send a text message the message appears to send ok but then gets stuck in my outbox. The message stays there until I send a text the old fashion way and then all the text messages are sent out.
The instructions on the mobile underground website say to make sure you have .NET CF 3.5 version:
*TELLME*: Install NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab.zip first on your WM PPC, before installing the TellMe App, get it here media..fire...

But, I when I tried to install this I received a message saying I already had a newer version. See screen shot showing my 3.5.9198.0 version of the .NET Compact Framework. So, I'm assuming I have a newer version that should work with the TellMe but so far I have been unable to get it to send text messages properly.
Also, I'm running Voice Command v1.6.21889 , which came on the phone originally.
Has anybody else had this problem? Anybody know of a solution?
I have two T-Mobile HD2's sitting here with this installed, all work fine, except the same outbox issue on texts. I wonder what could be the issue or if there was some way to trigger the sending automatically.
I have an idea but not sure how to make it happen.
Obviously the TellMe application is only composing the message and putting it in the outbox.
So, the HTC Messaging should be able to periodically tell that a message is waiting or simply just try to send messages every now and then. After looking at the option in the Settings->Options while you are in the message application you can see that there are 4 options for Delivery: Immediate, 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week.
I wonder if there was a way to set the delivery at 1 second if it wouldn't try to send the message. This is just an idea and I'm not very experienced in customizing phones but I do some programing and could see this as a possibly.
____
The other option would be to write a small program that would check the outbox and send any messages in it. Then you could use voice command or tell me to run the program by creating a short cut the this small program and calling it "Send Messages" or something like that.
Anybody have comments or suggestions on either of these ideas?

[Q] Need a chat app, that is NOT palringo

Palringo straight up sucks. as of right now it has been "Logging in" for 3 hours, tried rebooting phone, checked connection etc etc.. Of course there is no visual cue that you have a message,(blinking LED) or when you are disconnected.
it sucks, i hate it, want something, anything else.
tried to get ebuddy, cant, says its not authorized or something to that effect..
is there ANY program out there (other than junkringo) that works on this phone? without having to do any mods BS to get it to work?
I take it you're not looking for MSN then?
something that DOES NOT use sms to send and recieve yahoo chat messages.
How about this. Not the most obvious thing in the world I suppose, but I thought of it...

I've used nimbuzz before. did its job.

Wow, thanks for the smartass answer an all..
but have you even tried to install it on an HD2?
hmm?
does your say " 'ymsgr-ppc' is not a valid pocket PC application"
maybe i should google it.
mmm... yea, well it says its for winmo5.. so I googled the HD2 and found it with google, it uses winmo6.5 and then googled again and could not find where it said that app supports winmo6.5.... but I did find where it said it does not support 6.1 but maybe it skipped 6.1 because it wasnt cool, or didnt use google enough... hmm
maybe i should google some more.
too bad i cant get it to work too, what with a rockin rating of 2/10 i think you managed to google up the one chat app that might suck worse than palringo..
At least I tried, which is more than you could be bothered doing.
Couple of options
BeeJive for WM 6.5 works, but is no longer being supported. It's in permanent beta and every once in a while their servers go down for a few days.
You can get the ebuddy java app to work. You need to install Mighty's Photon jBlend java app on your HD2, then you can get java apps to install fine. I don't have a link handy but you can find it on XDA.
Try BeeJive first, if it's working, it's really good.
