I got my hands on a MyTouch 4G today and quickly installed Quadrant to see what kind of score it would produce.
I got screen shots but don't have permission to post pics or links...
put it up on your facebook? or flicka?
I just want to know for sure if it's dual core or not. Nobody seems to know.
well, I have a screen shot of the CPU info too
try this
hxxp://tinypic.com/r/2wc34sy/7
hxxp://tinypic.com/r/15wce9k/7
same CPU as the G2, just clocked higher
Quadrant score of 1908
CPU: ARMv7 rev1 (v7l) @ 1024 MHz
Cores: 1
and by the way, I took these screen shots after installing Shoot Me, and using VISIONary to temp root the phone. VISIONary is amazing! it gave me temporary root in seconds.
what were your general impressions of the phone? Does it appear to have a super-lcd screen?
http://www.intomobile.com/2010/10/22/mytouch-4g-benchmark/
the phone was quick and responsive. not sure about the screen, but it looked very similar to the G2 screen in my opinion, if that helps. the video calling with Qik worked better on WiFi than on 3G or HSPA (which would be expected), but I wouldn't say it was crystal clear. Overall it was nice and solid, and not as "plastic" feeling as previous MyTouch's
t-mobile employees got their hands on them last week when they did sort of a essay entry thing on why they should get the device, the winners were awarded with the device... It should be released for pre order within the next 2 weeks or so...

But what about the official statement from TMO?
"Designed by HTC exclusively for T-Mobile, the new myTouch features a brilliant 3.8-inch WVGA touch-screen display with virtual keyboard and Swype® for easy text input. The thin and sleek device also comes with a blazing fast second-generation Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 1GHz MSM8255 processor optimized for speed and graphic performance, a 5-megapixel camera, a preinstalled 8 GB microSD memory card, and an integrated media player that brings together favorite music, video and internet radio under one set of controls."

Tmo could post it wrong though.

It did ship with 2.2 and tethering which the G2 lacked. This phone rocks. I've been using it as my dd for a week now and I have to admit that I'm very satisfied.

I am pretty much set on this device (in black!) but I'm waiting to play with it in the store and getting rock-solid info on specs and ease of real root. I hate to say it but I am also considering HD2 with Android due to it's 4.3" screen and T-mobile not getting a real 4.3" screen Android phone until next year. Decisions, decisions...

As far as Ghz go... Snapdragon is 1Ghz proc and G2 runs circles around it with 800Mhz. So yes, it does matter which generation proc we get.
Then again, it's all about how phone feels in real life, that's the main reason I want to wait. I went to the store to check out HD2 when it was released. Oh boy was it a beast on paper. Oh boy what a dissapointment in real life.
Still, can't wait for MT4G
Snapdragon is 8XXX right?
They are all snapdragons, just different generation/architectures of the cpu and different configurations of cpu/gpu. I'm not really good with all that naming/code bs but from what I know, newer Snapdragons (the ones in G2 and MT4G) are way faster then older ones (N1, Evo, Incredible, etc) at the same clock speed. Think Intel Celeron and Pentium4 difference. But it's not all about speed neither. There's more to it, just check out the link.
http://www.qualcomm.com/products_services/chipsets/snapdragon.html
But, after seeing wirefly's video of MT4G, I don't even care anymore. Comes next week, I'll be picking mine up. In black.

MT4G by far the most superior phone today now here is the thing if you are in USA then get MT4G but if you are elsewhere get DHD which share similar spec as MT4G along with 4.3" display but hand to hand with MT4G on benchmark its fried. If DHD-3G was supported in USA I would have got that but I am perfectly happy with MT4G now that I unleashed the beast within.
BTW before you buy MT4G make sure you get the superior screen, best way to do this is:

Also be aware of FFC being off centered if it don't matter also check that the button does not creak and the light does not leak. HTC QC did very bad job with first batch of MT4G so becareful if you are buying used one.
Coming from a G1, I would say the G2 is the logical choice. With dual core phones coming out pretty soon, if I were in your position I would wait.
And what do you need dual core for? lol I use to think like that as I had HD2 7months before it came out in USA and my upgrade would have been dualcore based superphone now thats on startup in CES2011 but MT4G was quick gap and I can clearly see I don't need dualcore and no one avg end user need it. What app will support dual stack? Wait for them to perfect on it as more vendors get in and drive the price down a bit.
I would get the MT4G or G2. Dual cores aren't need with the speed you get with those two phones. Besides you can get G2 free now.
Yeah I perm-rooted my brother in law's Mytouch 4G and then flashed it with Evil's Desire rom, overclocked it to 1.4ghz and that thing is smoking fast. The screen looks amazing and after playing with it, I thought, "Why haven't I heard a lot about this phone?" Everywhere I go, everyone is talking about the iPhone 4 or the Nexus S but when I played with both, I just felt like the MyTouch 4G is snappier.
I have about a day to decide if I want to bite on the MyTouch 4G added to my brother in law's account.
What's the return policy with T-Mobile if I decide I want a different phone?

Was it a Nexus S? Because if so the comparison may be misrepresented. As far as I know iPhones can't really be made that much faster than stock but the Nexus S on the other hand, I'm pretty sure, is able to be overclocked and can probably outperform the overclocked MyTouch 4G. However, if the comparison was between overclocked versions of both phones then I believe you are good to go with your decision of the MyTouch as opposed to the other too.

Care to back up your claims with applicable benchmarks? You obviously lost your mind, as native to native MT4G out runs NS clock per clock frequency. You think Hummingbird vs MSM8255 is even match? lol don't be silly MSM8255 is superior. But NS is superior in graphic I have to give credit where its due. As Adreno 205 GPU is slight by very small margin behind SGX540 GPU also NS has SAMOLED. In the overall quality MT4G takes out NS any days did I also mention NS is made by Samsung? Do I need to say more?

I hate to correct you, but you're wrong.
An over-clocked MyTouch 4G even with T-Mobile rom runs circles around the Nexus S. The GPU is mighty on the Nexus S, but I'd like my phone to be capable of a good strong GPS signal as it will be my primary GPS unit.
The only reason I would remotely consider a Nexus S is vanilla Google experience and Android updates months ahead of competition. But when it comes to hardware, HTC did a much better job making an "Android flagship" than Google's choice and I guess it makes sense that Google doesn't select the same manufacturer year after year to keep manufacturers happy with Android.
Plus after trying out evil's roms, I'm rather confident the developers here at xda will keep a MyTouch 4G up to date.
The only question is whether to bite or wait for the 2011 wave of devices. I know everyone says "What will you need dual core for?" But that's exactly what developers are going to figure out lol. If the power is there, they're going to make applications that will utilize it.

The return policy of T-Mobile is listed below:
The website is support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm21963.xml?related=y&Referring%20Related%20DocID%20List%20Index=..
You have 14 calendar days (30 in CA) from the date of purchase to return purchased equipment to the point of purchase. Equipment must be in good working condition with original contents and packaging to be eligible for a refund of the purchase price. This return policy applies to the purchase of new equipment from T-Mobile or its authorized dealers. Proof of purchase is required. We may charge a restocking fee.
You have never mentioned how long you want to keep the phone for? If it's one year, you can just get a phone now. If you're waiting, you should keep in mind that the dual-cores coming out this first half of the year will probably lag behind (a bit) the dual-cores coming out in the second half of the year.

Hence, the reason I explicitly placed in bold the phrases "As far as I know" and "I'm pretty sure" to emphasize the conjecture in my post. From what I've read, yes the MyTouch can outperform in some tests, however, I have yet to come across anyone claiming that the MyTouch's processor outperforms the Nexus S to the degree that you claim.
I personally would wait for dual core devices myself.
Ya I have to agree with copius in this one, buying dual core now is waste of money as only thing you will win is bragging rights lol but still higher clock frequency so its your call. MT4G 4GB ROM (1.1GB actual) with 2nd gen Snapdragon MSM8255 + Adreno 205 GPU is enough for the MT4G for decent use for another 1-2years by application standard and memory extended service.
But TBH if I was you I would wait 1year to get dual core as I don't trust POS company other than HTC. When HTC drops dual core thats when you know its serious biz lol forget Samsung forget Moto, LG and all. Who controls and dominates the smartphone (new buzz now "superphone") world? Last I checked most flashship device on carriers were still HTC. If you need device now go with MT4G and if you like what you see when CES2011 device hits then drop that on eBay/CL and sell it.

Let me put it this way I got MT4G just 2weeks ago due to my HD2 being stolen. When I was shopping for phones my top 2 pick was MT4G/DHD and NS did not even come in the map. Ill tell you why first of all NS is inferior in hardware capabilities in post 2k10/2k11 spec. Only thing it has going for itself is slightly better GPU and display which does not say much to anyone unless you are trying to win some paper spec war. Due to how memory is allocated and proc is computed MT4G comes superior, how do I know this? I did extended research. Look up my old username and do forum search as it will yield result. Biggest flaw of NS is its made by Samsung which has super history of being a joker vendor in mobile market for not providing anything to users. Also Google have for some silly reason took unofficial stand on NS hardware which is post mid 2010. Don't give me that NS will get updated before blah blah who cares? Thats why we are here on XDA thanks to the dev's. I can go on and on and rip apart the total spec as I did last month why NS is not to be considered any serious match as its just a mockup device on carriers lineup thats all. But hey man go get what you like lol I have yet to see any kid IRL who has ever won a debate with me. If NS was good people would be using it and my sig would say NS not MT4G.

(I know this is a rather flaw way to compare performance) The myTouch scores better on Quadrant in terms of just every category (exception being GPU) with a skin on top of it and an earlier version of Android. When it gets Gingerbread, it will run circles around the Nexus S. Than again, we are comparing first generation (Hummingbird) to second generation (Snapdragon).
Back on topic, wait for dual cores to come and than do a comparison.

Thats what I was trying to tell him but then again whos fault is that Google picked Samsung jokery for NS's hardware? Hence why TMo was looking in to "Project Emerald" half year ago and picked device based on standards of today. The second generation snapdragon chips are crazy fast, I was playing around with the G2 and it made my Nexus look slow. I really want to see a stock Android with the MSM 8255, the ones with skins on top of them (myTouch 4G, HTC Desire HD, Sony Xperia Arc) are already quick and responsive. Really want to see what they will do with dual core even though GPU might not be the best.
I would have to say that Samsung wins in screen technology though even if using whites kind of suck your battery dry.
I have never really owned a Samsung product of any kind. Don't play on getting on in the future.
Hello new user here I was searching in yahoo and came across this forum. I myself own google's nexus s and my girlfriend just recivered her mytouch 4g last week. This is very true. The reason I learned about rooting in the first place is because my MT3G (also a 32b device) was painfully slow and I wanted to run Navi and Pandora simultaneously. OEM 2.2.1 + ezterry's 614 kernel with the new radio and spl (14mb additional ram) and SetCPU 528-614 on-demand made it a great daily driver!
But after using my MT4G for one day I couldn't even stand the MT3G anymore.
As I said above - BUY AN MT4G ON CL FOR $300 THEN SELL IT 3 MONTHS LATER FOR $300 if you really want a dual-core phone. Absolutely no loss.
I think i will get a G2. I'll wait for dual core if money is not important.

It depends on your preferences. Do you like Android or WP7? But I have an HTC HD2 dual booting WP7 and android. Eventually it'll be able to trip boot Ubuntu as well. xD
But I've always wanted a G2 haha.
I herd about the dual boot it looked hard to do xD.
Maybe you can break down the steps ...

If you don't care about the keyboard and want the bigger screen, then this is a no brainer. As far as I know, Android on the HD2 works 99% perfectly so if you're willing to put up with that 1%, go for it.
The trade is fairly equal value wise.
I haven't had either phone because Im on ATT, but I have looked at and wanted the HD2 at some point in time.
Big screen, great specs, and dual booting now. Great platform.
Test test....

maybe u will hate winmo, but maybe u will love it. if u dont, waste 30mins of ur life to flash android

The main differences IMO are those below (** = category winner). So, considering you also get 125, i personally would make the switch (unless his phone is in bad shape and yours is brand new). The HD2 has a better display, better processor, same camera (soon also with same video capture), just a little slower data transfer and slightly slower processor if overclocked => i'd take the HD2
Processor:
HD2: 1000 Mhz (OC Potential 1500 Mhz)

The processor on the G2 is actually faster, its an under-clocked second-gen Snapdragon (vs HD2s first gen).

Thanks, didn't know that, i don't have the G2 so i just pulled the normal specs from a review. However, isn't the OC potential for both first and second gen snapdragon the same (about 1500 Mhz) ?

I guess the focus will sooner or later shift to dual/quad core + gpu type phones (tegra 2+), but i think the devs will still keep updating the HD2 for a long time,

G2 can be overclocked to 1.8ghz. Ive seen one overclocked to 1.9ghz iirc. The second generation snapdragon has the performance advantage over the first generation snapdragon, clockspeed doesnt matter.

Good to know, changed my post accordingly to better processor = G2
I'm going back to the HD2 after trying out the G2 for a while. Just didn't like the heft of the G2 and I used the keyboard twice at most. Didn't see why I'd tie myself down in a contract for that.
And whatever you do OP, don't let things like, "I can OC my G2 to 4 Ghz" influence you. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter cause 1 Ghz is more than enough for 99% of your phone's uses. The remaining 1% is purely a pissing contest.
I should note though, the G2 has beastly battery life. I clocked in at 1 day and 18 hours once before I charged it at around 19% battery. The smaller screen (and more efficient s-lcd) + 1500 mah battery helps this.
The HD2's bigger screen and smaller battery really shows in Android.
All of the development and custom firmware for the HD2 is just amazing; in my opinion that is one of the strongest reasons to buy the phone; the fact that it has awesome specs is great too.

I currently have the MT4G,just want to know if its worth trading with an LG g2x?
Not worth it. Wait for the SGS2 or Sensation!

I'm already running sense 3.0 on this device.hmmm, yeah maybe the sgs2 will do.
Only issue is that there might not be a SGS2 for T-mo. The names have been revealed for all carriers, but there's no sign of one for us. The G2X is better than the MT4G in it's specs, but wait 7 days and get the sensation. bigger screen, better processor, and HTC build quality. Also, it doesn't look like it will be super expensive. Walmart will have it for 150 on contract.

Only the processor is better. It has a lot less RAM (512 vs the MT4G's 768). I would never want to run a ROM like Virtuous Fusion on the G2x with such little RAM.
I'm just saying I have used a g2x and its very snappy.

I went from MT4G to G2X. It is faster - even without an android ROM that optimizes duel core (true for all of them), which was to be 2.4 - but that has been pushed way back.
The Sensation is supposed to have the boot loader locked - so forget flashing anything. There is chatter about HTC coming out with an unlocking mechanism - but I would not buy that device based on maybe it will get unlocked.
Some have gotten quadrent scores of 5000+ with CM7 and faux kernel (Max OC "only" 1500 currently). It has a better camera then the sense camera on MT4G, but I never liked the sense one - it had too much compression, so used camera app form the market on my MT4G.
HTC confirmed that they were working on an update for the sensation to unlock its bootloader. I would not worry about it.

I went from the G2x to the MT4G (gave up on the G2x because of backlight bleeding). I honestly didn't feel much of a difference. Virtuous Fusion on my MT4G runs fast enough for anything and with Chainfire3D, I can play all the Tegra 2 games and do everything fast as I need. I was originally planning on getting the Sensation. I still might, but I'm considering waiting til the Tegra 3 and comparable phones come out.
I would wait till next year when they start making Quad-core phones, which is in Qualcomm's roadmap, and probably others too. The G2X will be outdone by the SGSII(Fastest Phone now, blows G2X ) . The Sensation is slower than the SGSII, but is still a good phone nonetheless. Not really worth the upgrade from the MT4G. If you care about things like ram, companies are starting to use 1GB ram and hopefully they increase ROM size for more internal storage.

Agreed. For me this phone will totally be enough for the next year and a half thanks to the awesome work of the dev community. Rooting and flashing a custom ROM has given my phone new life, so personally I can now confidently wait to get my next "uber" phone when my contract expires.
it seems that the g2x has alot of problems compared to mytouch 4g. the one i was able to use kept shutting off and on!
i would wait for something worthwhile!
One of my coworkers has this phone. I messed around with it for a while and it seems to be pretty nice, but not quite enough of an upgrade for me to ditch this phone for.

Almost every phone on XDA started out with a locked bootloader. You make no sense with your comment about a locked bootloader. My MyTouch came locked but look at how fast that was bypassed.
BTW: HTC has already stated publicly that an OTA update will unlock it in the near future.
Im with the others, not worth an upgrade. just wait until the quads come out
I love the MT4G. I still have my Nexus One but with 768MB RAM, I can find NO reason to upgrade at this point. And to compound that decision, all the recent reviews have said that the screen is lackluster at best. Sure the higher resolution is nice but if you don't couple that with a great screen it does NO good at all.
And that great device (Sensation) still comes with the same RAM as the MT4G. Sorry, but at a time when tech prices are what they are, packing 1GB+ into a smartphone should be the baseline standard. If I upgraded to anything right now it would be the SGS2 but I intend to wait for quad cores to pop up. My desktop and laptop both have quad cores so my phone should too.
The MT4G with CM7 runs fantastic.
I have a g2x right now, my wife has a mytouch4g. The g2x is quicker, and has more potential. I can say though, it isn't significantly quicker for having a dual core processor and vanilla android, and it definitely does have more software issues.
I (just like others) thought the issues complained about were exaggerated and I was lucky enough to get a g2x without issues. The screen bleeding isn't horrible, but I have had the random reboots (usually daily). Battery life is poor at best, there isn't any lagging but it does stumble and freeze for a second occasionally. Great at multitasking and gaming though.
My wife is pretty picky about her phones and complains if there are any issues... I haven't heard her complain about the mytouch except low earpiece volume.

Well, both my Cyanogen and MIUI ROMS on my MT4G run better than the G2X. Not my opinion. That is fact. I have a G2X here as well and it doesn't run anywhere as good as my MT4G with either ROM.

Would you happen to know why CM7 runs so poorly on the G2x?
And I agree. CM7 on a MT4G makes it feel like it was never meant to be a Sense phone. So smooth....
So I'm at work (I now work at UPS, btw) and this late 20s, early 30's woman comes in looking to ship a package. I go ring her total up, then I noticed out the corner of my eye the slide from the sidekick 4g.
So we had a short conversation about how we both like a good qwerty and how nice it feels. It made me feel good because my best friend, who has an EVO, keeps telling me not to get one because nobody has one.
I'm not one to buy a phone based off of popularity, but based off of what I like. In about 2 weeks I'll be (officially) part of the SK4G family!
It really is the best Keyboard in TM's Android line up. It just seemed to be buggy from the start, not to mention considering it's Samsung updates come once in a Blue Moon.
I've always liked the Sidekick family, even though the first Sidekick I had was the ID. It served me well until I lost my data plan. I heard the LX and SL or whatever else there was, were great improvements and now I'm the proud owner of a 4G. I love it! It's got the feel of a Sidekick with all the perks Android has to offer. My only qualms are battery life and (occasionally) speed and lagging. I rooted my phone, and it seems to be performing much better, but this is all fairly new to me, so I'll have to have a friend who is more experinced with rooting and ROMs take a look at it.
Note... the sidekick may be fully functional, and a great messaging phone, but it is also a low end smartphone. You will notice graphics lag everywhere, it won't hinder you from doing anything, its just not pretty.
What im saying is... don't compare it to the evo. Its a real shame that Tmo doesn't have high end keyboard phones. On the other hand, I can actually type faster on the vibrant then on the Sidekick. The bigger the screen, the easier virtual keyboards become.
My low end sidekick 4g is way faster than my cousins evo, sense bogs you phone worse than touch wiz.... those " loading" screens when going back to the homescreen are annoying as heck, and not to mention the repopulation of apps when opening the app drawer too... it almost reminds me of my old g1...................................

Who cares who its marketed to. I'm 21 and own one. Its just a phone. Beer is marketed to adults only, and its seems pretty popular to teens. I love this phone, and on top of its speed, it has flash. Not many high end phones have it either.
I wish the camera had a flash...my only gripe. I would talk this phone up to the end of the earth if it did.
I honestly hate the low end specs....i loved the keyboard and 4G speeds maybe even form factor. Needs bettet larger screen flash bettet cam etc...i had to leave the.phone behind

Even though the perfect screen size for me is 4'', this phone has everything I wanted. And remember, 1ghz and 512mb ram were at one time high end specs.
It was either this phone or the epic, which is the only other phone I like, ever.
I've always loved the Sidekicks, I've owned 3, but I decided to get the 4G Slide for my daughter.
It has the best keyboard ever, hands down.
I am in my late 40s and my wife & I have had Sidekicks since Sidekick II. Still best keyboard on the market!!

MyTouch 4G Slide...
Last I checked 1.2ghz dual core Snapdragon processor with Adreno 220 gpu(yes, the same gpu as the Sensation, Amaze and Evo 3d), 8mp camera, 1080p video AND A KEYBOARD would be considered high end.....
The Sidekick 4g doesn't hold a candle to the MT4GS...not one iota. Sorry to those I might offend but I'm speaking from experience.....as the SK4G and the MT4GS are a couple of the phones I currently own and use every day....in fact I'll go as far as saying I'd ditch my SK4G for another G2 given the opportunity. Giving up the G2 for a SK4G was a big mistake to start with as the G2 had a lot more going for it. The ONLY thing the SK4G has that the G2 doesn't? A FFC....who uses it anyways?

Exactly.
It's UNDERCLOCKED from the factory to 1.2ghz. It should actually be running 1.5ghz. If a single core G2 can be OC'd to 1.9ghz, imagine overclocking both cores..?!??!
IMO from what I have read the hummingbird kicks the crap out of almost everything on the market still in terms of graphics performance, I just wish we could OC higher like the G2 but we aren't going to get that kind of support needed for a kernel that crazy
I'd love a dual core but I can't deal with a touchscreen only phone or a crappy keyboard (tried G2 and MT4GS) I couldn't ever get speed like I can on a sidekick. I went from an LX to a G1 and that was a nice keyboard but every phone I had after that was painful to type on. I will be holding out until another phone comes out with a comparable keyboard before I upgrade from this one. A dual or quad core would be nice but I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything major right now besides being able to tinker with it ;P

Well not really. The Sensation is clocked at 1.2 ghz. And so is the Evo 3d. But the Amaze has a 1.5 snapdragon s3 processor. Different from the Sensation and evo 3d. Even if the it was 1.5ghz it still won't get the same performance as the Amaze and Evo 3d because they are newer processors. I believe that when you overclock a phone with dualcores it overclocks both core. Not just one..

Wrong and right. We can currently oc to 1.7 using the virtuous unity kernels but if you try to oc using apps like setcpu it will show as being overclocked but it only oc's one core since setcpu doesn't support it yet. So it depends on how you try to oc. However setcpu works just fine for underclocking both cores.

I have owned every SK since the B&W, with the exception of the slide, and having given the 3 immediately away as an "Oh Crap, it's your birthday today?!" gift to an ex.
Extremely solid phones, from my experience. Having been a Jr./Sr. High schooler through most of the models, I put them to the test. In fact, on multiple occasions I had pulled out my SKII and played hackysack with it. I also sprayed it to the point of immersion with a hose one day when doing yardwork and the lil guy just kept on goin. The 3 was a bit finicky, but I enjoyed making custom skins for it. From what I hear the slide was a piece so I'm glad I avoided that one.
My phone prior to the SK4G was the G2, and I have given a fair comparison in another thread so no need to do that here. I see the strengths in the G2 and if I were not a SK guy I would have been extremely happy.
Now, the only reason I've ever had to hate on the SK is the false market that they attempt to sell it to. When the 1st gen hiptop released I was 13. For as cool as it was, it was underpowered for me. They have continued to give me outdated or slow hardware ever since. I would easily have spent more money every single time for a phone that would actually hold it's own amongst the big boys for a while. Looking at this years model - Hummingbird... 512mb ram... 3mp camera with no flash .. really?
However, I love the design. I've been spoilt for fast typing keyboards (On previous models I would out-type the screen and have to wait a good 10 sec to watch it get typed out. Heck, I've written 3-4 page reports on the LX during the class it was assigned). I've been spoilt for multitasking via jump shortcuts. Bringing android into the mix was a great move.

But AT&T is getting the far superior One X. This is the final straw for me. Once again, T-Mobile gets the second class device, while another carrier gets the top end device. No more. I'm sick of second class equipment.
Ironically, I recently switched home cable providers for the same reason. Wow Cable had old ancient cable boxes which were laggy and had no features. The service is no better on Comcast, but the equipment is MUCH better. How companies like Wow and T-Mobile stay in business, I have no idea.
Why can't all of the providers get the same phones!!! Then they can evenly compete on service!

True. But I'm sure most of us would rather have the 4.7 inch 720p screen that the OX has. After playing with my gf's GN often, I don't want anything less than 4.5 inches and 720p display.
Superior or not, I can't wait for this phone to drop.
Plus with the One V having very similar specs to the mytouch 4g this should give us hope of very good ports of ics and sense 4.0!

Hold on there my friend: Read this:

The At&t One X and T-mobile One S is more a like then you think. The main difference is the One S has a slightly smaller screen and is qHD Super AMOLED vs 720hp super lcd2 for the One X. They both have the next gen S4 which is faster the the 4+1 quad core Tegra 3.

Yeah, I read that later. It does help because it makes the only appreciable difference the screen. Still though, and like mackster said, I really want the current standard 720p resolution. Not something that came out a year ago! There's always something that keeps T-Mobile a second class carrier.
Yeah, i saw this and i was SOO excited, if the specs are similar, the MT4G will live on foreva!
Edit: Ok guys, i have seen the specs and have compared them...
Here is how the phones stack up: SAME display resolution, ONE V: 512 Ram...MT4G: 768 Ram , Both have single core snapdragon processors. This is definitely a good sign. Our phone is better than the one that has been released (on paper at least) and it should be fairly easy to port the roms given screen resolution. I think HTC just saved our asses. YAY!!!

I hope we get a port from Team Inferno!
Only thing is that the camera still won't work since they're way different aren't they? :-\

Yes thats what I saw! This actually better then the whole sense 3.0 and 3.5 situation because of no re-sizing issue! and actually save for the camera we have the better specs! Yes HTC Did make it easier! The mytouch 4g was ahead of its time when it launched!

It may be a slim chance the mt4g may get updated then we can use its cam or kernel, but the dhd or incredible 2 should get the official update and there similar cams to ours.
WAIT! We might be saved thanks to HTC AGAIN! Check this out!

Dragon series! Single Core, 4 inch screen phones all rocking ICS and sense 4.0!! Oh and five Mega pixel cams! Which hopefully means they're the same as the one we have! If so, we might be in luck for a camera fix. Only problem is that these are Chinese only handsets :-\ nonetheless, this brings hope.

Wow that even better! That's closer to our cam. Its not using the new HTC ImageChip! Chinese stuff always get leaked , lol
I swear the MT4G is the T-Mobile-branded redheaded stepchild with nine lives. If I was still able to use mine, I'd be excited because it's starting to look like the "never say die" successor to the HD2.
