Outlook. It restored the contacts inclusive the contact pics from my samsung omnia to my Acer f1 without any problems. Not to mention I'm still using an old outlook 2002 version as well
Or the build in acer backup utility
spb backup
Just copy file PIM.VOL from the root folder of device to the storage card or to the pc and when u need to get back your contacs (after hard-reset or installing another firmware) u must only copy this file where it was - to the root phone folder (with replacing). Enjoy.
Hi,
"MCoolSoft Contact2XML 3.0"
you can generate xml files of outlook contacts and save it in sd card..
or "Acer F1 BackupUtility" (you can found in this forum section)

Hello,
I have one HTC Touch (wm6) with many apps and tweaks already installed and running.
My wife got another Touch (same ROM version) and gave me the job to install everything like to the mine.
Well, i'm thinking in mirror my SD card card to her SD and then restore my last SPB Backup from there.
Someone did it before? If i change the USER name before i sync to my PC it will be recognized as another device diferent to the mine?
Could be another things to be changed for her PPC works?
Thanks for the help...
And please, save my weekend 8)))

I think it won't, but I'm not sure. Just restore your stuff to her PPC, change the owner name and let AS connect to it. If it still refers to the same PPC (I think it will), let me know and I look up the related Registry entry doing this.
Note that you can safely do all this - it won't mess up anything.

Hi!
I have done this several times using SPB backup with success (HTC P3300). This is the steps I performed:
1) Create an complete backup in self extracting (exe) format with SPB Backup
2) Manually backup any necessary files and folders from Storage Card (i.e. Program Files)
3) Upgrade the target device to the same Rom version
4) Copy manually backed up files to the target Storage Card
5) Execute SPB backup file on the target device, excluding PIM information (this is an option when restoring)
6) Change owner name
7) Change device-ID (important because AS uses this to identify the device). The device-ID is changed from the about screen in settings.
8) Make a partnership in AS and transfer all PIM information.
Regards,
PK
Thank you both for the help.
I did the steps above and everything went fine. Great Paalkr !!!
I just forgot one thing before... The programs/configs are to be identical (and they are now) but not the PIM info.
When i first connected to the AS it restored all my PIM info (contacts...) to her Touch...
Off couse she can edit her contact list in the Touch but i guess the next time she connect her phone to my PC all my contacts stored in XP outlook will be cloned to the her PIM info.
I tried to uncheck the contacts in AS but it warned that this action will clear all the contacts in the next sync...
Well, Am i wrong or is there a way to bypass the sync problem???
Ps. Two things related to the problem. i can't create another WindowsXP user account for her and the contacts stored in the XP outlook arent important to me or to her (but if i uncheck the contacts option in AS i guess i will loose all my phone PIM info too).
Once more, thank you for this great help.

Hi!
If you don't want do sync PIM info it is important to connect to AS in guest mode, just press cancel when AS detects the device for the first time. If you want to delete a partnership you can do this from the file menu in AS (in the PC) when there is no device connected.
I have attached a cab file that maybe you can use to delete all PIM data on the device. I have not tried it on WM6, so there is no guarantee.
Regards,
PK
Worked perfectly.
For someone that will follow this topic for the same problem in the future just one extra thing: - to connect as a GUEST you need to exclude the partnership on both PC AS and Mobile AS.
Thank you once more Paalkr.

Hi guys,
I've recently upgraded my phone for a HTC Touch HD - Beautiful thing!
I originally had a Trinity/HTC 3600 and used Sprite Backup Manager to backup my data on it.
I have now connected up the Touch HD, and sync'd the outlook contacts (and their associated pictures) accross succesfully. So far so good, at least I got all my address book sorted. The active sync also copied my outlook calendar, notes etc etc - great!
I've copied all my pictures and ringtones accross manually from old storage card to new storage card - so im nearly there now...
Now im hoping to get my SMS messages/histroy/threads moved accross too. I know Sprite Backup Manager saves all this information, and i have the 14Mb file it created. Does anyone know how to get the SMS information from the backup file and save it onto the Touch HD? That would make my transfer from old phone to new phone complete.
Your help and guidence is always appriciated.
Thanks.

Hi,
I had close to 300 contacts on my mobile until I got a new ROM update for Europe based HTC Diamond 2 systems. Once when I applied these changes, it wiped out all of my contacts with no trace...
I tried searching for options where I can store my contact details to my memory card but I couldnt find one option.
Can someone please help me as well as provide any other new alternatives to make sure that I dont loose my contacts the next time when I update my mobile...
Any help will be greatly appreciated...
Hey there,
Forget about trying to store contacts in other places, the best thing you can do before updating your phone in anyway is either backup your entire system using a good backup software such as Sprite Backup, or SPB Backup but this should NOT be used if changing ROMS.
What i always do is use PIM backup before a rom change. This free app backs up your contacts, emails etc and is simple to use and virually fool proof. I have enclosed the zip file for you, its a stand alone app, so just copy it to your programs folder or storage card and create a shortcut in your programs folder. (Thanks to its creator, such a brilliant app!)

Any app in Android can restore contact from PIMBackup backup file
have some problem with u, n i wasn't found any application to convert that file..
(i want migrating from winmo to android)
try this way, (sorry i can't write link in this forum coz newbie)
search on google with key "sprite mobile" (migrating contact, messaging, log call data)
it's like PIM backup on winmo
Hello,
I had solved the problem by
- deleting exchange account on winmo iphone
- setting up my gmail account as imap in winmo
- sync contacts etc. Between phone and gmail account
- using the gmail account w/ my new android device.
You can find some guides w/ a google search about how Toso configure gmail with winmo.

I just moved from WinMo to android and faced the same situation.
I first made a fresh PIM backup in case anything went sour. I setup activesync to sync with gmail (Google has a step by step tutorial that's based on WinMo 6.1 but it's fairly easy to figure out) This is where things can go sour, like doubling of contacts or appointments. If all goes well you'll have everything in your gmail account (it might take a while though).
If you have any pocket notes, and aren't synced with Outlook, you'll need to manually copy and paste them into OneNote Mobile. Then copy them to your desktop and open them in One Note.
use Sprite Mobile
i was successfuly transfer all contact and their field, messaging and call history

Or, try this.
1. Open PIM Backup on your Windows Mobile device. Select the Backup action and unselect everything but contacts, then hit Next.
2. At the "Select backup filename and folder" screen, unselect the "compress backup" and "binary backup" options, then hit Next.
3. Transfer the BACKUP.PIB file that you just made from your phone to your computer. Change the extension from .PIB to .RAR, then extract the file.
4. The extracted file should be BACKUP.CSC. Simply change the extension to .CSV and import the file to your gmail account. All your contacts can now be imported to your phone through gmail - just follow the instructions given in the phone's contact menu.
or activesync with google http://www.google.com/support/mobile...&answer=138636
Hi
As a noob to android, I wanted to ask step by step converting winmo PIM backup file to android. Which includes migrating contacts, messages, log call data etc)
Is this doable. Can any one advice. PLZ.
Thanks in advance.
Hi, i have a HTC HD2 running WM - Energy ROM and Android - Core Droid HD V0.2 and i want to use my contacts in Android.
I did as Dblfstr said, but the file i got from PIMBackup was contacts_20101206.pbc
I use PIM Backup v2.8.0.0
I did not mark "compress backup" and "binary backup" but still the file is some how binary and it shows garbage when opened by an editor.
Does somebody have another solution to this problem?
ThX!
forget about using pimbackup,i already tried everything and did nothing...
try using outlook, simply export the contacts to CSV and import them in google
or send them via bluetooth (for those who have 2 devices)
there were quite a few contacts that were saved on my phones internal memory before i switched to android. Unaware of these contacts, and unaware of proper procedure to restore the pim backup once android was up and running. I created the standard backup with compression enabled and all default specifications. Can I restore the contacts with the default pimbackup method?
thanks

I have the same problem in that I didn't know about the compression. Is there any way to uncompress and will I be able to restore text messages as I'm not really worried about call logs, emails and contacts?
EDIT: I found the solution here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12975806&postcount=13
Hi everyone,
I have recently bought a Samsung Jack i637. I have been using Sony Erricsson W200i for more than 3 years. I have huge phone book - approximately 1000 contacts with some of them having multiple numbers and email ids. W200i doesn't come with a bluetooth feature.
Can anyone help me transferring the entire contact list to Samsung Jack?
Please help me
Raj.
UPDATE
Here is a slight progress:
I am able to upload the contacts to the PC using My Phone Explorer(Exclusive to Sony Ericsson Phones) and made a back-up file with an extension .mbp
Can any one suggest a software which can import from .mbp and copy the contents into Samsung Jack??

Use SPB Backup (or other backup software)
when U generate backup file with contact send it via BT to Jack (also send spbbackuprestore.exe)
When U send these files - run spbbackuprestore.exe and select backup file)
That's all

UPDATE 2:
In the mean time, I was able to figure out how to save my contacts to "windows contacts". Is there anyway to transfer the "windows contacts" to the Jack. Also I was able to transfer my Calender, Tasks and Notes to MS Outlook 2003. Also please suggest how to transfer these to the Jack.
