Best MSN messenger app...

Anybody got some input on this? I am currently using Hi MSN and it keeps showing me offline to my contacts but it works fine on my end. I have tried MSN droid, ebuddy with no success. They all have some weird issue. So wondering what others are using.

i just use IM.apk. i think it's from the g1, modded to work on other carriers and/or phones. it's not amazing, but it's free and works decently with aim and msn for me (also does yahoo). i got it from xda, can't find the apk on here right now, but here's the one i have http :// goo . gl / Jcuz (can't post links)

I'm using "Messenger" from the Market.. it's like a full rip of Windows Live Messenger. The UI is rather clunky and clumsy, but the functionality is all there. Do get random drop outs though.

Sometimes it's an error on Microsoft's server side that's causing you to appear offline to others. I even have this problem come up on my computer's Windows Live Messenger.
Usually you just wait a day and log in again and your problem is gone.
As for IM app, I'm using Ebuddy. No problems so far.

I'm not using it anymore sorry. And I tried looking for the apk myself and couldn't find it in my phone. Looks like they took it off market cos it probably infringed copyrights (a lot of the graphics of the app were ripped straight from the Windows Live Messenger app on pc)
EDIT: in saying so, I'm back to eBuddy. Also, give MSN Talk a try.

I use Nimbuzz. Works fine for my MSN and Facebook chat

I highly suggest you try out Meebo, if you create an account it runs many clients at the same time (like, Messenger, AIM, Facebook, etc.) and it keeps chat logs.

Msn droid works great for me...

Is there any messenger like BB mess only for android users?

Hi, i would like to have an app that offers me instant free messaging comunication (using data plan) with other droid users, just like blackberry messenger...
This is because my girlfriend is willing to buy a motorola backflip...
Does this app exists? or will exist?

You'll both have a google phone with gmail addresses. Use the built in GTalk application.

ill tell you something, i loove google, but, gtalk is its only service that i dont really use, does this offer instant comunication?is it fast?

Pretty fast, and fairly reliable. Generally if there's a connection issue ur IM gets sent to the receiver as an email to their Gmail account. Definitely works well though. I use it almost exclusively now.

I wish Gtalk on android support facebook talk and others

I use ebuddy, which supports AIM and Facebook Chat.
Had good experiences with it so far.

I love GTalk,
The only missing feature IMO is file transfer

Could try Meebo as well. Lets you log in with Facebook, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk, icq, jabber, MySpace. Just pick any account and sign in and you'll be able to IM to all the others.
It's not phone specific, but I find it easier to go from Laptop to Phone to Laptop again this way.

Used to use meebo,switchedto this program called fring cause its got sip support. It can connect to all of those above too, seems to do abetter job off reconnecting after a lost signal.
I still keep gtalk open to talk to my brother, it s more reliable than all the others imo

I tried fring, but could not stand the interface. My 7 year old neice could have done a better job.

In the event that I just HAVE to use an IM beside Gtalk, I use Palringo (for Y!, MSN, FBchat) or the actual AIM app from the market. Both are quite capable.

Try fring. It's not bad & I use it for MSN, Skype

hah yeah thats one thing i forgot to mention, the interface is absolutely horrid. looks like someone drew it with a crayon.
I had been looking for a way to reskin it...
nimbuzz was really clean looking but i didnt try it much cause it didnt have sip support

Best Gtalk app?

Hi all,
I'm searching a good app for Google Talk, I use it a lot and I need something speedy, with a good UI, that has a history of the chats (not like Palringo, that erases everithing everytime you close the conversation) and that can runs in background without a huge battery leak.
Can someone suggest me something?

for tht i use fim (facebook instant messenger)
fring needs u to register first
its free, so register a fring acc
im from india, gprs (edge) isnt very reliable here
if my connection goes, i dont know why but fring crashes
even fim crashes!
check them out
they arent troublesome
can be removed without any pain

I know Fring, I've used it with a lot of smartphones, but I need something that uses ONLY Google Talk protocol...

Beejive vs Trillian vs Talk

Which one would drain less battery on this phone? I know Beejive and Trillian use push services to send you messages... what does Talk use? Just trying to save the most battery I can...

Funny... i was about to post a similar question.. Trillian vs Beejive.
Ive been using both.. tried trillian today... seems to work better reason why-> you can suspend the app and it will keep you logged in and send you an email if someone sends a message, then you just reopen the app. Beejive was able to do that on the iphone.... weird.. i didnt see that feature in the android version.

They both use push services though. Beejive has been more reliable for me.

GTalk will drain your battery - I found this out when it was left on by accident on the day the TB was activated.
Not sure why but Skype didn't drain as fast. Imo also didn't drain as fast. I'll be testing both Jivetalk and Trillian and will probably buy the latter because of the desktop sync which is unusual in this arena and a colleague tells me it actually seems to work.

I've been using trillian for now, as most of the others I've used don't use the push messaging, and we all know that's a horrible battery drain without that activated.
The thing I don't like though is that if I lose data for a second, and reconnect, it triggers all messages that I've read already as new IMs and sets the notification, which is quite annoying.
I'll look into Beejive. Trillian is the nicest app I've used so far, but it's really picky with data connections. There are times where it just doesn't want to let me log in at all, even though I can get a working data connection just fine.

which one do you think is the best, as blackberrys have their own messenger we android user could use the one only application for all android users
because almost all of my friends use blackberys even knowing blackberry phones sucks but they use them just because of the "free sms"
and when i try to convince them to use android they just say no, and i cannot text to them for free because they also get lazy to download any other application

Google+ Huddle is pretty neat and seems to be an answer to BBM by introducing a 'group chat' instant messenger for anyone who associates their Gmail with the social media website.

In the future, I think Google+ Huddle is going to try to take place of BBM-type communication on Android, but since not everyone is on G+, it'll take awhile to develop.
In the meantime, I use trillian for instant messaging - though I don't use it as an "always accepting IMs in the background application." Google Talk is the easiest program to accomplish this for novice users.

Whatsapp works pretty well I use that and it works across all platforms

every one ive had drains battery like crazy...

well ive used liveprofile and is good but sometimes msgs doesnt arrive at time, kik messenger is the fastest i have used, and google talk is the one with comes by dfault and could be used as "like bbm" but atleast in mexico like 1 of 10 have Gmail account :/

hey im from mexico and i use gmail XD why you dont use a msn app like mercury or im+(this one also supports skype and gtalk) ?

because is consumes a lot of battery...
my point is this.... for example if BB people uses BBM as their Free texting mode
we can use Google Talk as Our Free Texting Mode as it is running background always (well i dont know but i cannot logged out from google talk)
but not every person knew or know that, and i think it is almost the same thing, but with just giving your gmal acc instead of the PIN thing
