Crackling music - Captivate General

It seems that when my phone gets cold the music starts to crackle. This is a big problem because I spend a lot of time outside in the winter and like to have music when I'm outside. I haven't. Read any other post of people having this problem so any help with this problem would be great .

I don't know about the cold, but when I try to play some songs with the 5.1ch button enabled I get crackling. Maybe there's a relation there?

Is it like a popping/skipping sound? I've experienced this a couple of times... But I'm on cognition 2.2, and it usually only happens if I'm browsing the web at the same time.

Well I figured it out last night my phone quit reading the memory card. so I don't know if it was the card going bad or is it was the cold affecting the card I will have to try to put the card back in when I get home tonight and see if it works. the music plays fine when it is stored on the phone

I've heard a lot about crackling in the music player. I think its related to the lag problems on the galaxy s phones.

[Q] Music player and youtube app problems

So I've had this Captivate for a little while now and have enjoyed it more than my iPhone 3GS, but after I upgraded to 2.2, I have had nothing but problems that is causing me to hate this phone.
My music player doesn't work. I can open it and play one song, but after that, it becomes unresponsive. If I want to listen to another song, I have to open task manager, end the music player and start over again. This happens every time.
The same thing with youtube. I can watch one video, then it becomes unresponsive. I have to end it with task manager and start again.
The phone is also incredibly laggy, worse than most Windows 95 machines I've used. It also freezes regularly and the only way to fix it is to pull the battery.
Other than flashing to a custom ROM, is there anything I can do to fix this?

Sorry, I forgot to say I did that already, and nothing changed at all. Do you think it would be worthwhile to do it again?
what hard reset method did you use? is your cappy used custom rom b4?

Those kind of problems sound like a bad update/flash. I would Odin back to stock, master clear and start over.
Thanks for the help. It's fixed now. It was a bad upgrade to 2.2. I once again love this phone.

Bad Audio Quality. Cracks. Muddy bass. Pandora issues.

Hey, I'm loving everything about this phone besides it's audio. Like the title says, the bass is muddy and I hear random pops and cracks. Pandora also skips every third song or randomly stops regardless of data or WiFi connection. I'm coming from the Samsung captivate and haven't had these issues.
Pandora is the app I use most which is pretty frustrating. Anyone know any kind of fix or having similar problems?

same here
I am having the same exact issues. The pops and cracks are the most annoying
i don't have any of the audio issues. pandora does suck pretty badly. like you said, every third song (sometimes every other song) will just pause and 'buffer' forever.
could be a pandora/ICS issue or a pandora/one x issue, don't know which, though

I'm guessing your battery is less than 40% in which case the HOX goes in to a pretty aggressive power saving scheme.
It does? Where did you see this or get this info

It's well known if you do the advanced power menu mod you can see for yourself. For instance - the phone operates on single core only and that one core is downclocked to 1ghz max. Aggressive enough for you? Run a benchmark at 50% battery and then the same benchmark at 25% battery....
Huh that's kinda crazy to know thanks. Kinda piss me off though restricting our phones cores etc....
Beaups that's some crazy info but considering how fast this phone is, I won't worry about it. But yeah, the mem management is crazy.
I just tried out the iHeartRadio app which seems like Pandora with more features. So far the audio seems way better and it hasn't skipped or randomly paused a song yet and this is on data. This may be my new go to app.

My Samsung Captivate Stopped Ringing....HELP

Ok, my Samsung Captivate stopped ringing when someone is trying to call me. And I can't hear anything when I put it on 'speaker phone'.
It looks like the speaker phone (in the back is dead)? Yes, I've checked many times to make sure the call volume is on at the highest setting.
And I can no longer hear any sound when playing game or listening to music/video.
Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks

Lots of people have had success with just pushing the speaker down with their thumb, but I had to take the phone apart and mess with a connection for a permanent fix. Search this site for speaker fixes.
Thanks guys. I push the speaker down a few times and it seems to work now.

SIRIUSxm app problem vzw GS3

heres a weird one that may only bug me.
I stream the Sirius xm radio app all day through my phone while im at work.
When I get a phone call the app pauses for the phone to ring and phone call to happen.
when i finish the call , the Sirius app is supposed to restart where it left off.
It works about 20 percent of the time with my VERIZON GS3.
I often have to completely exit the app and restart it to get the app to work at all.
I take 10-15 calls a day so it becomes frustrating and distracting to have to mess with my phone after every call.
the app works perfectly on every phone ive had.
razrmaxx gnex charge no problems.
same problem with stock or with any of the stock ROMS.
with or without imo kernel.
It doesnt happen all the time but MOST of the time.
Anyone have any ideas how i would begin to fix this?
thanks!
bump
Anyone?
I don't think it's the app all music players do this on gs3 it's a known issue. For me Pandora doesn't start back playing music. Try unplugging head phones then plug back in and hit play in the app again.

So is it on anyone's list to fix? Thanks for the info. I'll try the headphones thing. Lame. I hope that it gets fixed

Music Volume Issue...

So I bought the Ultra yesterday. The speaker sounded great at first. Tonight I started a song on Google Music and it was loud at first. Then it seemed to autocorrect the volume. The volume is now the same between half and full. I cannot get it to turn up any louder and it is pretty quiet.... About half of what my S3 could put out.... This is between both the Pandora and Google Music apps. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there a setting I am not seeing to turn this "feature" off?

try a different app then you will know if its the phone or the app.
for what it's worth I've had google play music do weird things with the volume on some songs. (not a droid phone)
So I called VZW tech support last night and they told me to take the phone back and get a new one. And it also started doing it on speaker phone too.
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Isn't the phone supposed to do that? I believe I read somewhere the phone adapts to how you listen to songs... Will look for the article.
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I did a factory reset and that seemed to fix it for a while. Music played normally for about 6 hours then it randomly started cutting the volume level again. It gets so quite it sounds like the volume is only at 10-15%. I went to Verizon and couldn't get it to reproduce the effect in front of the agent. They said to come back if it keeps happening.
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I honestly believe that the phone is supposed to do that. It supposed to adapt to your listening preferences. I can't find where I read it but I will.. Just return it before your 14 days are up and see if the new one does the same. They shouldn't charge you.

Turn off the equalizer and surround under Sound > Audio Effects
Effects Profile: custom
Surround: off
Equalizer: off
Soooo.... sometimes it has no volume at all. I tried suggestion from the post above and it didn't seem to help. Too bad I really like the 5" screen. I think I going to return it and buy the Moto X instead though.

My volume does weird things using Google Play music as well. I was walking yesterday and had it on full volume. Never had it that way on any other device.
Past Moto phones have had a "High volume can harm your ears" warning that turns down your music unless you shut it off. Maybe that remnant of Blur stuck around and needs to be disabled somehow? Just a thought.

i do get a message that says that when i'm listening to bluetooth audio and go to turn the volume up on the phone. but, knock on wood, it still lets me turn the volume up.
edit: actually it looks like this: http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-4/229041-how-do-i-disable-unsafe-volume-warning.html - so if it happens on a NEXUS, then it's not motorola, it's Google (oh wait i forgot, they are motorola...and all of freaking android)
