[Q] Recommended vendor to buy Digitizer from? - Desire Accessories

Hi,
I have dropped my Desire and smashed the Digitizer, the AMOLED is working fine. I have had a look at some instructions and decided I want to DIY replacement.
Can anyone recommend a good place to buy? Ebay has plenty - any experience on any of these vendors?
Jackofallgames has it listed but I have called 6 times and no answer!
I am in the UK. Any experiences/recommendations appreciated.
Thanks

I had the same problem a few months ago. Bought the cheapest one from eBay (which was still around €50) and it was identical. Works flawless, no difference compared to the original digitizer. Bought it from eBay-seller siansmobiles: http://myworld.ebay.nl/siansmobiles Don't know if he still sells them.
Note that you use the right tape though! The repairmanual I used suggested to use 3M 9088 double sided tape. I couldn't find the tape in the local stores, so I settled with some other double sided tape and it was crap! A month later I decided to do it all over again, but with the right tape this time! (Ordered 50 meters of it from a wholesale)

Replacement Speakers Found!

Edit: bought one from ebay, worked fine. Sounds a bit tinny, but beggars can't be choosers. I'm just glad to have it working.
I finally found a place with replacement speakers for the Nexus One. I had to email them to inquire about it because it wasn't listed on their site. They later emailed me back saying they had to check if their supplier had them.
Then they emailed me back telling me they've listed the part. I know a lot of people have had problems with theirs crackling, and mine blew out entirely.
So for anyone interested, here's the link (if I can post links, not sure.)
http://www.globaldirectparts.com/OEM-Google-Nexus-One-Speaker-p/htc736640.htm
The minimum buy limit however is 5, and I plan on buying some. So if anyone needs one let me know.
And just for fun, let me tell you all what I've put my Nexus through.
First, within the first 2 months of release I dropped it from my lap while getting out of the car and shattered the screen. I've since managed to replace the digitizer and got it up and working perfectly again.
Then, I dropped it in a tub of water, while it was on and I was watching youtube videos!
That time I managed to save all but the speaker, by quickly pulling the battery, then giving it an alcohol bath.
Update!
There's now one listed on Ebay for $5.98, they have over 10 in stock.
I've just placed an order, I'll report back here with my results when it arrives.
At least the speaker is easy to replace.
need better speaker rather then the oem's

did you replace the digitizer yourself? or did u send it in for repairs and if so how much did it cost? I recently cracked my screen T_T
just bought a used nexus and the speaker is awful. where'd you'd see about doing the replacement yourself?
Zephyron: yes, I replaced it myself. I ordered the digitizer off of ebay for around $70.that was about 2 months after the phone came out. Prices should have dropped by now.
Damngood98: from my digitizer repair I knew replacing the speaker would be a simple job of dropping the part in. all you need to do is remove the black plastic housing where the battery sits (3 security screws and some gentle prying with an ipod pry tool) and just swap the parts.

i saw that you posted a link to the site that has them with a minimum order, and then mentioned you found it on ebay
any chance that you ordered a batch of them and have an extra laying around? would hate to have to wait 3-4 weeks to get one from hong kong
are these stock speakers or are they better quality than stock? i'd be curious to buy one off you if they are better sounding.
Are any of these ebay "buzzer" speakers, the same thing as the N1 external speaker?

Cracked Screen Need Digitizer

Hi,
I've scratched my screen pretty deep . I will like to replace the screen and get a new digitizer but haven't found any online.
Has anyone had luck finding a Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus GT-P6200 Digitizer?
Thanks!
Yavila
Sorry to hear that...I would have cried a little. Best of luck fixing it.

Believe me, my soul weeps every time i see that scratch... its end to end
sorry to tell you but i really don't think their will be any for sale for a log time i mean like 5months as this is still a baby device but have you tried claiming on your house insurance that's what i did with my nexus s last year
they have the digitizers on ebay now
I ordered a replacement digitizer on ebay about 3 weeks ago. They ship free from Hong Kong and the sellers all say that it takes at least 3 weeks for delivery. More sellers are there now with the digitizers. I cannot find a teardown video anywhere. Also, some repair shops fix the old p1000 but not the tab plus.
You definately want the tools to come with the replacement digitizer. I'll give it a shot blindly if I don't find directions and post how it comes out.... hopefully from this device!
i fixed cracked glass yesterday
The directions for the p1000 screen teardown pretty much worked. I used a hairdryer an an exacto knife to separate the digitize from the lcd. This was tricky. Of course you know to always push the knife away from you lest you cut your wrist.
An eyeglass cleaning towel worked to clear off the lcd. I didn't want to risk any solutions on it.
Prices on digitizers are dropping on ebay. I paid 75 for the kit and it is about $10 cheaper. Shipping does take long!

You just need to make sure you are getting the correct digitizer from a well rated seller. It's an easy ebay search. Also, you need the tool kit. The concept is to slide the tool around the space between the glass and case to release the catches. YouTube has lots of videos on the topic. It was a while ago when I did mine and used the T1000 directions. There may be a video with the 7 plus by now.
Using a hair dryer to heat the glass is critical. It softens the adhesive and makes it less dangerous. An exacto knife, glass and lots of force is asking for a trip to the emergency room. Let the heat do its job and always work the knige AWAY from your body while supporting the assembly on a firm surface.
Taking your time is crucial. The job's not that hard as long as you stay organized and don't force it.
By any chance, has anybody purchased a digitizer that doesn't have the Samsung logo on it? I'm kicking around the idea of replacing the digitizer to give my tablet a cleaner look on the front.

Thank You.

[Q] What is the purpose of LCD Rear Metal Plate? Good place to get screen?

Hi everybody!
I just got used Moto G, cheap There is problem with the unit: bottom half of the screen doesn't work (the digitizer). Guy told me he dropped it but I don't see any cracks or scratches...
So I followed video from youtube and disassembled it.
Now. My unit doesn't have two pieces: it doesn't have blue cover tape over LCD/digitizer connector and it doesn't have LCD Rear Metal Plate between board and digitizer...
Is it normal? Or looks like somebody took apart before me?...
It's Canadian unit, from Telus (if it matters).
And next question: what place do you recommend to get replacement screen/digitizer from?
Thanks!
Etradesupply. Or phonepartsusa if they have them. Last I looked they were $30-40 US or so. I Am unsure of the aluminum shielding. My assumption would be for conductivity to ground the digitizer but that's just a hunch. There were early model touch screen phones that would not register touch when you laid the phone down without holding it. I think my old HTC eris was that way. Before buying a display, I would watch the videos again and check where the tape is during disassembly and use masking tape on those areas and put back together. Worth a shot I would think.

Thanks for reply!
Yes, I checked etradesupply. They have this part only in HK warehouse. And during ordering procedure they show some message about custom fees for private customers and suggest to register company with them...
Anyway. I found couple on eBay from one seller. But he calls this part "inner heat shield". So it cost me $7 plus $7 for shipping from LA to Canada (still cheaper than etradesupply).
So now I'll order new screen+digitizer from aliexpress and start my trial
Thanks again!

[Q] Full housing

Hi.
Can someone find full housing for the phone?
I need the frame and battery cover... Its not destroyed, It works great, but I want a renew...
Im from argentina, I found it in India, but dont ships here.
Maybe someone can recive my money, buy it, and reship it to me...
Thanks so much
Check Ebay & Aliexpress
Your best bet is buying the full lcd assembly with frame attached. Replacing just the middle frame would be a pain, it's not too expensive, about $120 USD considering it has the lcd, the back battery door could easily be found on ebay. Both those items actually.

Anyone replace U11 rear glass cover?

Has anyone done a replacement on their own? I'm hoping someone's done it and can say simple or watch out for X. I've got a heat gun, all kinds of tools, and have watched the teardowns.
I dropped it a month ago and just the corner was cracked, now most of the back is a spider web.
HTC branded ones are $80 on eBay and aren't the kind of thing you want to go cheap on. Thanks for any feedback.
I too need to know. Didn't even play with it for 6 hours and it tumbled and completely shattered. From the vids, it doesn't look too difficult but ya, if there is anything to look out for let us know. Thanks!
In the teardown videos you can usually see what you have to look for, like if there's something attached to it (NFC antenna for example).
Watch a few different ones and you should be good.
The only advice i can give from fixing a lot of phones is, to not rely on the adhesive which usually comes already placed on the part.
Buy some special liquid glue for it! It will save you a lot of headaches, keep it dust free and preserve the waterproof feature.
With the delievered adhesive you will soon have dust in your camera, and if you don't clean every bit of the old adhesive before
replacing it, sooner or later it will get loose.

Will do. I have a pile of parts for phone repair and glue tape. If a liquid glue is really better for the water sealing, is there a specific phrase to punch into Amazon to get the stuff you use?
Oddly enough, the part was $80 on eBay and they all disappeared. There's only $40 'used' but cosmetically perfect ones. I got the cheaper one and will be happy.
Thanks for the feedback. It should arrive this coming week. I'll post results.

There's no amazon where i live
Quick google search should give you some options
Used ones do not come with the double tape adhesive on the back and I'm not sure you can find that anywhere to buy. If you use some kind of liquid glue, which I did on an S7, because the phone is sealed, all the vapors will affect the internal components and you need to reopen the phone in order to clean them ( mine had a problem with the light on the menu button ) which will result in breaking the glass back.
You have two options:
1. buy some glue that is made specifically for this
2. buy some double sided tape ( best option ).
Good luck !
It actually came with the factory tape on and an extra set of 3m tape. It was exactly the same as the stuff used by the factory. The only area not covered was a section of the lower right of the phone. I cut up some of the extra and stuck it down. Heat it all up and its new again.
Zero complaints, easy. Thanks for the pointers!

I got it from eBay. KK Parts was the vendor. I got a screen a few weeks later from them because they sent what they described. They were honest with a small scratch on the screen I got a few weeks later. When I looked at eBay vendors (all China), a lot had taken pictures from another post. KK was one of 2 or 3 who showed pictures of what you were buying.
Plus... the rear glass had the factory waterproof tape mounted on the back and they gave extra strips. I'd buy from them again
Hi Jimbob,
Do you have a link to the ebay page? I am having trouble finding that vendor.
Thanks for your help.

HTC U11 Life back cover repair
I've seen some repair video online and it seems not difficult. I had a HTC U11 and crack on back cover accidentally, bought a new cover from witrigs and replace it myself, it's quite easy than I thought, just follow the tutorial and heat up for enough time.
