Hi,
I've just moved back to WM after playing with Android for a year. I'm running Dutty's ROM but would like to change the keyboard. I think the current keyboard would be ok if the settings actually worked as what I'd like my keyboard to do are:
1. Haptic feedback
2. Auto capitalisation - there is a setting for this on the default keyboard, just doesn't seem to work.
3. Automatically add a space when you've selected a word.
Any suggestions??

Hi all
I first installed Helmi Hima AKU3.5 SP2 and was very happy with it.
Then I installed some software and (culprit?) Dutch mui, downloaded from buzzdev and noticed that "Settings" was totally gone from my Start menu.
I've been able to find ways to access at least most of the settings using shortcuts to the exe's. And I'm always in for editing the registry if I really can't find another solution.
But I would prefer to have Settings back where it belongs, at the bottom of my Start menu. Any suggestions?
Another tiny problem, I have no bluetooth icon in the tray and not on the top bar when bluetooth is active either. When I turn "Wireless" on as Today item, it shows my phone provider and:
bluetooth > null
even when bluetooth is active
Bluetooth is also the main reason why I want Settings back. One of the first things I did after installing the 2005 ROM was setting up my BT GPS device so that it was able to work simultaneous on several programs. To my surprise that took me seconds. In WM2003 it took me 2 days plus some tweaks.
After installing the Dutch mui I can't find these nice BT settings (yet). Not sure if the language pack is the culprit but I would hate it if I'd have to remove it to get full BT potential back.
thanks in advance
Maggy
Update: I found the problem with ResHack in Shellres.dll.0413.mui. That file is full of bugs and 217KB, too big to debug and recompile in a single day so I decided to delete it. Most of my dialogs are still in Dutch, very few that I rarely need in English, Settings is back in the Start menu, bluetooth settings are once again very easy.
Another thing I found out today, trying at least 6 different Smartdial downloads:
-one worked but only with an ugly skin
-two did show Smartdial options but no functionality
-two refused to install, no valid certificate
-finally found one on this board that works with any skin, no install problems:

Thanks a lot, mysterycracker! This should be included in all ROM packs!
Ok no I broke it
Just noticed today that there is something strange in my menus while in landscape mode (qwerty keyboard open). Active menu item only shows empty. Also when I use Notes, everything I type is "invisible". If I snap qwerty close and return to portrait mode, text is visible and menus ok. Also if I keep qwerty keyboard open and change to portrait mode manually, also everything ok. So problem is landscape related.
What have I tried:
- Removed all Diamond TF3D Config settings
- Reseted all Advanced Config settings to default
- Restored backup that I made this morning
...No help.
Next I'll try to restore couple days older backup. If that does not help, next step is hard reset
Any advices?
Ok, got it fixed with backup restore.
Now I'm really hard trying to think what caused that problem - most likely one of Diamond TF3D Config or Advanced Config settings, because I have been playing around with them few days...
I can confirm this .
Same here.
Have something try with Diamond TF3D Config settings
This issue is by using Cleartype in landscape. Try to change registry settings in HKLM>System>GDI>ClearTypeSettings the value OffOnRotation to 0 and you will get same problems back. Is not fixed yet.
Anyone find a workaround for keeping clear type, the invisible text happened with my Tilt too, ClearType in landscape worked under my OEM 6.0 rom , but it's invisible with OEM 6.1 rom
Thanks for the temporary solution, it was really bugging me. Now we need to figure out how to enable the cleartype and keep the text because now the text that was showing before in cleartype looks horrible
Every time I type sms, my TP auto corrects and forces me to use words from its dictionary, instead of my intended word. Then it won't let me change its word. I have tried to turn off auto-correct and set suggested words to 0, but no luck. Please someone tell me how to stop this.
are u sure T9 is not selected?
I have same problem. With sms messages the word correction screws up my messages. I turned off the suggest words option under advanced config...but doesn't help the sms/mms messaging helper. Haven't tried registry hacks...might have to explore the registry a bit...

Yes I am sure it is not selected. I am using slide-out keyboard anyway, but am sure T9 is not selected. Please someone must have come up with some way to stop this [email protected]@@@ing thing from changing all my words.
There should be T9 as a secondary function on one of the buttons on the slide out keyboard. For the FUZE it is Fn+right arrow. It brings up a menu to choose ABC or T9.
turning off word completion in either t9 or keyboard mode doesn't matter. The word completion still comes up. Doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off!
Try This. this should do the trick... hopefully!

I have disable word correction using the Advanced confing App 3.3
The Advanced Config. 3.3 application has been a great tool for me so far and allows for many customizations. I am using a Touch Pro and it was able to stop word correction on my device. If you are going to install Advanced Config tool, you will need to install Microsoft .Net compact framework 3.5 first. Hope this is helpful.
Anyone using the NATF fix? A few questions:
1. Does it solve the forced changing of words?
2. Does it stop all corrections such as auto capitalizing of 1st word in sentence? - (which I like)
3. Any side effects of using this program?
I like people like NATF that solve problems. Kind of a hero.
Krizza, I also use AC3.3. Under INPUT I changed suggested words to 0 (default). This didn't seem to do anything for sms. Is there another setting somewhere?
maybe it isn't Advanced Config......

I just assumed that it was AC3.3 that was stopping the "suggest words" function. I have mine set to 0 (default) as well. My Touch Pro no longer suggests words when I'm texting, but I just checked out ,my phone and I have also adjusted START > SETTINGS > INPUT > WORD COMPLETION then I have unchecked the box that says "suggest words when entering text"......maybe that is what has been working for me all along.....hehehe
Krizza, I've had that un-checked all along. However the problem seems to have fixed itself when I reselected 0 (default) in AC3.3 then soft reset. It wasn't instant though, it seemed to correct after a few days. odd.
Hi there,
I just upgraded my Motorola Milestone to Cyanogenmod 7.2 and it's working like a charm.
I remember before upgrading (Froyo 2.2.1) that when composing an Email or SMS using the physical keyboard, I got suggestions everytime I started typing a word. For example, if I started typing "th" it will show me "the this these...".
But in Cyanogenmod 7.2, I'm not getting word suggestions. Is there an option that I need to activate to get them?
I already went to Settings -> Language and Keyboard -> Android keyboard settings -> Languages -> Selected the language (but this seems to be for the onscreen keyboard, not the physical one).
The options present for the physical keyboard are: autocorrect, automatic caps and automatic punctuation (all of them are checked).
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers
I noticed the same problem on CM7 ROMs, seems to be like that on the stock keyboard, but

I flashed the no-wipe JB release (currently K3) from these boards on my S3. I was initially bugged by the persistent help tips on the lock screen, but eventually followed the suggestion of disabling the help app, so that appears to be gone. My biggest sticking point now is that the default Samsung keyboard does not work for me. When I select that keyboard, any attempts to type by swiping show the line following my finger movement across the keys, but no text appears. I can type by tapping. I do have T9 Trace selected in the keyboard settings. I also have Swype Beta 1.3 installed and working properly, so I'm fine with using that keyboard, but I would like to figure out what settings I'm missing in the default keyboard. I tried uninstalling Swype and re-flashing JB with no improvement. Has anyone else experienced this? DO you need any additional information or have any suggestions?
Thanks

I dont want to use to the nnew Swype keyboard because I prefer the stock samsung keyboard. My t9 option is on but when I swipe, my swipe line appears but no text appears. It does add space though as if wrote more than one word. Ive tried cleari ng cache and data in thr application settings and still got the problem. I dont have continuous input option either for the samsung keyboard settings either. I need help too!
