[Q] Help with unlocking Captivate - Captivate General

Can someone give me some advise on how to retrieve the unlock code for my AT&T Captivate without actually rooting the phone? I have tried a couple of companies with no luck so far?
Thanks,
Blair

If you've updated to JH7 already I don't know of a method that doesn't require root. Otherwise the SGS Unlock app works fine.

Bump! I would like to know this
Unlock Code not found
The unlock code for the Galaxy S 4G has been moved and for that matter not available yet to be unlocked with any current software in the market
The Galaxy S 4G however can be rooted but so far attempts to unlock it like the previous Vibrant has failed, I have tried my best to try to decode the new bin and bak files but nothing so far.
The good thing is there are smarter people then me out there who will figure this out in no time. Root was easy but unlocking has become hard.
Just an idea: Maybe you programmer should focus on using an imei code calculator to generate an NCK instead of focusing where the code may lay.
For now it seems SAMSUNG has the upper hand FOR NOW!
Unlock Code Found
Like I said SAMSUNG did have the upper hand But I got them and if you follow the link below you will see the instructions to unlock your Galaxy S 4G Vibrant

[Q] Samsung Illusion SCH-i110 Rooting / ROMs

I have scoured the Internet for information regarding any custom work for this phone.
I stumbled upon samsungillusionforum dot com, which is a dead forum with ancient posts and near zero activity. It seems to be an alias to samsungfascinateforum dot com. Why anybody would set a forum up in this manner is beyond me.
Last month I bought the Verizon Wireless Samsung Illusion SCH-i110. I waited around a month to see if anybody would post any information regarding rooting/ROMs for this phone to no avail.
I plan on trying SuperOneClick to root the phone, but as for Custom ROMS I don't know what is out there.
I would appreciate any and all information anybody has regarding ongoing customization work for the Verizon Wireless Samsung Illusion SCH-i110 running Android 2.3.5.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I too have been looking to see if i can find a way to root this phone...i like the phone, nice and responsive and just a good midrange phone, however i do want to get root access for wifi tethering.... I have tried superoneclick, doomlord, z4, gingerbreak, and universal androot all to no avail... if anyone has success getting this rooted please share the knowledge and it'd be highly appreciated....
I am in the same boat here... My girlfriend recently picked one up and hates all the VZW apps that are installed and we want to remove them and tweak the system a bit. I have scoured through the interwebs for close to 2 weeks trying to find anything that can root this phone. Unfortunately, anything out there as far as I can tell does not work... Can anybody please help with this?
yes please im in the same shape as yall i got a couple darts modded and now i have the gnex and it is great but if i cant find anything soon maybe this one will not majically work and need to trade for a differatnt model.......ive also tries every method th OP origanilly posted............sux new toy no mod
Same here. Starting to think no one will ever root this phone. It boggles the mind that there is an unrootable android phone on the market. :-(

I was an idiot to suggest to my wife she get this phone from Verizon - I just assumed it was going to be a quick root for this cheap phone and I'd get all that Verizon crap off of it and it'd run great...
Looks like it ain't never going to happen.
did you try ZergRush? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1296916
It's not that it's unrootable, it's just no one spends time rooting/modding prepaid phones... I'd be willing to work on it but I would need a tester, someone who can use ADB
I personally have tried everything including ADB to root this device. It isn't a prepaid phone. It is a contract phone through VZW
Just wondering if anyone has tried getting root by using Unlock Root from unlockroot dot com?
I am also interested in any progress on this phone.
I have the straight talk version S720C Samsung Proclaim which runs on Verizon service.
I assume that once a root for the paid Verizion is working that it should work as well on the Proclaim?
I got this for my daughter and being able to wifi teather would be great
I have tried every method to root this device. None have worked. Zergrush, unlock root, super one click, doomlord, z4root, manually, and a few other methods... Have the devs stopped working with one click root programs?

AT&T Samsung SGH-i667 Focus 2 ..... has *anybody* Developer Un-Locked this phone ?
Hi all !
I have hit the wall - so am a bit at my wits end
With the goodwill of the mod's ........ here goes:-
=> has anybody, or does anyone know of anyone who has Developer Un-Locked their AT&T Samsung SGH-i667 Focus 2 ?
if yes
=> can you please post how you did it ?
Thanks,
Ben
That depends, what firmware version do you have? Did you install any Samsung updates via Zune?
Sent from my Samsung Focus S using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Developer unlock is easy; you just have to use the official unlock tool. However, that's not going to get you what you're asking for. It would only let you sideload low-privilege apps. Also, tons of people used WindowBreak and the Internet Sharing unlock hack back when they worked. That was "fixed" (breaking the hack we were using) almost a year ago, now, though.
Please don't go making threads like this. Your questions have been quite thoroughly answered on other threads. Your device firmware is too new to use WindowBreak or other similar hacks. This means you can use the hacks to enable Internet Sharing (or to interop-unlock). Nobody has found a way to flash the gen2 Samsung phones yet, so you can neither downgrde your firmware nor install a custom ROM. AT&T charges money for WiFi tethering, so the phone disables the feature until AT&T tells them it's OK.

[Q] Network Lock Control Code

Hi folks-
Sorry for what might be stupid questions but I'm super excited about this phone, and I just want to get it working right so I don't break it like I did my last one. I am trying to get this to work on T-Mobile in the USA.
I flashed my phone to a stock Gingerbread yesterday, and then flashed a stock ICS on top of it. When I started things up within the ICS OS with my sim card in, it started asking me for a network lock control key.
Ultimately, I need this phone to be in an unrooted state for software I have installed through work (it scans for superuser/root, quarantines you if it finds it). Is there any way I can unlock this phone again - through flashing or software - without rooting the phone?
Or, if I go the "root" route, is there any way that will maintain the software that's in the phone - like, without completely flashing a new OS? And if so, can I disable the software from running while the root is on and the unlock is taking place?
I am happy to clarify any questions - I am learning all about this and am thankful I have a Samsung to work with (since Samsung seems to be simpler than all others) - but I have had little to no success with rooting in the past and so would consider myself a complete novice. I've read through the forums and found similar solutions for Galaxy Note/Galaxy SIII but do not know how applicable they are to this beautiful piece of machinery that is the Galaxy R.
Thanks in advance. Sorry if this is a stupid question

2020 love for XA

Hi all, as I have some extra time, as may others too due to covid I thought I'd work on this phone.
Had it about 2 months as a pass down and want to give it to a family member, but like to clean it up and install a custom/debloated rom, like I do with all my personal phones and add some privacy
It's a nice phone, quite snappy for basic use but will require a new LCD, which is only £20.
Looking at the guides, I ran into a problem straight away, Bootloader cannot be unlocked, oh damn!
it's a EE (UK) branded phone.
As it's now 2020, has any exploit been found to atleast root it?
I've searched through forums and web, not much direction on it.
Rather not use the stock rom, unless I can debloat it. Shame tbh, it's a decent phone to let go.
Would a pre-rooted stock rom work?
Thank ahead
bump
Anybody, please? thx
Hi, as I did not get any replies to my issue. I continued to search and found a workable solution. Perhaps not full root per se, but it allowed me enough root privileges without unlocking bootloader, so I could delete all the Sony bloatware and some additional tweaks. I thought I'd post here for future reference for others.
First I found this :

Then additionally this, which made it much simpler.

Hope it helps

Only just seen your post and it seems you found mtk-su to get you going. :good:
I am curious about the bootloader though.
1. Did you try the official Sony bootloader unlocking procedure ? If you did at what part did it fail.
Normally it's just a SIM/Network lock that EE and other providers have so removing that may then allow the bootloader to be unlocked as I can't really see any difference in the firmware's except a few pre installed app's.
EE charge £8.99 for the SIM unlock code on second hand phones According EE's Help HERE If nothing else it will make it more usable and saleable.
I have a stock based ROM that's got most of junk removed and I replaced the dialer, contacts, launcher and other apps with Googles own apps If you do manage unlock the bootloader.
