Ok Guys
I suppose that you all know about the the 3.14 Rom by now .... I must admit that it is quite fast compared to the previous stock builds from HTC.
However the mystery comes here. This version comes insalled with Manilla Build 2018 and to my suprise
- There is no Ereader tab
- There is no Documents tab
- There is no Facebook tab
- There is no Manilla TV tab
- There is no FM Radio tab
- There is no Manilla Today Page tab
It would be really cool guys / chefs / developers alike if we could have CABS for the above-mentioned tabs. There was a project over here which had 5 of the above tabs added to Manilla. However with the latest build of Manilla, there is an error (an unknown exception) when Manilla launches. Unfortunately this project (of the extra tabs ) was discontinued.
There is also a ROM out there (by Netdgr if I am not mistaken) which has some of these extra tabs included (and also includes the FM Radio tab) but this ROM is unfortunately in French
I would really wish some help from you fellows so that maybe we introduce a section where new Tabs are posted by developers and people would be able to add/remove Cabs individually so that they can customize their Manilla.
if anyone can help out or maybe let people like me know where to find the different tabs (cabs of them), it would be greatly appreciated if you could post your links here. The more tabs the better.
I thank everyone again for being such a great community. The HD2 is truly a good mobile but XDA does really make it rock!
Regards
Al
are you talking about a stock 3.14 rom? i didnt think these tabs existed as part of a stock rom and they were made by the chefs (i could be wrong on this)
id love to see an fm radio tab! im currently running cleanex dse v6 so ive got a facebook, documents, gps and tv tab. no e reader tho
I dont think those tabs are in stock Roms.

threads here on xda. Search for manila today page and then for my avatar name.
- MTP thread for the HD2 (link to the 1st posting)
- new MTP icons (link to my post)
Installation info's:
- In the cab file there is a file named 26948339_manila. This is the tab control
file. But this file is for a clean ROM. So i think it is better to edit this file on your
own. If someone needs help. Please ask me
- There is also every time that you startup your phone, a popup that tells you
that MTP is started. This can be switched off.

HTC will bring a new one in the next 10 days, i hope. Because some languages
are now to download on the htc website. Then the documents tab will work
again, i hope. Because the 2.5.1921 is a very intensive development for everyone
who will use this tab.

Sorry to disappoint you but you are wrong .... the ereader tab emerged as part of T-Mobile's ROMS and Dutty was kind enough to make it a standalone tab. So please don't come tell me "the chefs did it ..." .. its not the case at least with the Ereader tab.
I am not too sure RE the Documents tab either... If I am not mistaken it has originated from another stock ROM (probably US TMo again...)
As far as the FM Radio / Manilla TV / GPS tracker / RSS Tab as mentioned ... and Facebook tabs... they are all done by the chefs over here ... but so far they have been presented as part of ROMS...
Don't have me wrong guys. But personally I prefer stock roms, cool homebrew stuff done by developers at XDA. I am not into total customization of the HD2... I am sure that there are many people out there which share the same opinion.
Again it would be REALLY COOL if we could create a STICKY with all the cool tabs which the developers create ... so everyone could customize his / her Manilla as he or she wishes....I don't think that any of the tabs hog the HD2
As for the age thing re the HD2.... By all means HD2 AIN'T OLD .... it outspecs the HD7 for f**k sake! .... I think that HTC realised that ... and I don't think they really like the HD2....This little baby .... is capable of running WP7 .... and Android like a charm.....Microsoft's attempt at saying that the HD2 DOES NOT have enough hardware buttons was ridiculous! the HD7 has 3 ... the HD2 has 5! More buttons does not mean less specs.... stop doing marketting HTC and M$.... it sucks....
Well where were we? Oh yes .... if anyone has ... any useful info please post here ... I will do the necessary research and come back to you with LINKS and pics if possible ... so we could make this one good thread Things should have been tried and tested to work ........
Many thanks
Al

If you were referring to me ... I always used stock Roms .... I love cooked ROMS mind you but I usually prefer the standard feel of the phone ... but some extra tabs won't hurt .... Never had a documents tab or ereader tab ... but read on pocketnow .... about it ... and these were introduced by Tmo US .... Then Mr. Dutty was kind enough to create a standalone app... but tab does not work on build 2018 (manilla).....

I KNOW that it is a stock ROM .... but there is no need to revert to a cooked ROM if I just want to install a couple of CABS .... again there are people like me who just want to customise some little things here and there ... they don't really want heavy modding ...

Maybe you never tried stock Roms ... but always remember that the chefs (who are brilliant by the way) .... always cook their rom versions from the original rom ... I have nothing against it ... but if I just want to add an extra tab or 2 and with the rest I'm happy why not keep the rom I'm happy with ?
Again ... I have looked at dozens or roms out there ... many of them have one thing and do not have another .... but at the end of the day ... it' all boils down to taste really ...
I have updated my posting #7 about the HD2 tabs. In this case the Manila Today Page info.

Guys....
I just received an email with a link to the topic, but I "officially" tell you all that I have nothing to do with it!!
I just released an AKU3.3 Rom and I really don't have the time to work on 2 Roms at the same time
And if I would release a real Crossbow Rom I certainly wouldn't do it with a nickname .Biz

Molski, have you had a chance to try this new ROM out? I've been using your ROMs for the past couple months and always had a great experience with them. Recently I got an itch to try a WM6 and haven't been 100% happy yet. Just curious to see if you have test driven this one and whether it had your stamp of approval as compared to the other WM6 versions available.
Curious minds wanna know =D.
Thanks in advance.

I thought it wasn't possible to change that. Are we sure this is wm6 -- Sorry for the post I had a blonde moment
I have tried this and find it as good as the 3.3 Molski released today (also must give credit to Faria for his 3.3 work). In fact alot of this is very similiar.
I just personally want to thank you to the mystery person who didnt want to take the credit for his work! Thank you. wink!

Working great, just installed on a locked g4 dutch T-mobile, with ShellTool.
Is it coocked Crossbow?
there are rumors going on in that forum that it might not be a real crossbow but AKU3.3. Can anyone confirm?

I have tried all flavours of custom cooked WM6 and each and everyone of them had some pieces broken which were essential to me. Right now I'm using XDA Mobile 6 Release 3 which does everything I need but has bug with with Bluetooth pairing.
So I just want plain vanilla WM6 with all pieces working and then I'll install all customisations myself.
Is such ROM available?

Same here. Mine is pretty basic with only a few applications that I can't live without. I couldn't be happier.
Certainly cook your own rom would bring happiness!
If you are tired or even don't know how to do it properly, try TNT Vanilla 1921. You later have to include what you want! That's simple!

I'm in the same boat and am trying to learn how to cook my own.
I just want a standard WM6 with all the standard Microsoft apps (nothing removed) and standard HTC apps like the camera, phonepad, etc., but no 3rd party apps, no custom artsy splash screens with peoples screennames on it, and no junk in the About screens like "Windows Mobile 6 FuNKY K00l Edition, fo shizzle!". Basically, I want something that appears to be an official release that only someone with extensive knowledge of the device would know it wasn't factory installed.
You probably missed something important during your flashing process. Didn't get your point exactly but I suggest you to turn around and learn a bit before you start cooking!
If you do anything wrong you would get your device bricked with no way to be back ok?
I can help you out but if I were you, I 'd read a little to get some knowledge. After, we can have a talk...
The kitchen is easy and simple. I used many times since earlier versions. 7.2 is great and running fine. You can also use Hypercore from Anichillus. Read the built in tutorial first!
Good luck!

Hey ! guys
Why don't both of you get the official wm6 vanilla Base Rom release by the Microsoft, well, just hook up to their site and request for a download, they wud be more then pleased to offer you one,LOL cuz only that wud serve your purpose !!
come on guys ! you know that no one has the original wm6 vanilla base Rom released by Microsoft, except the manufacturer's,vendors and carriers only as per the contracts by them,so they all customize the Roms according to their preferences.
All the wm6 base Roms which are floating around on the net are mostly ported from these customized official (stock) Roms of these manufacturers, vendors and carriers. The vanilla Rom provided by the cookers here are the closest to the original, but will certainly have some customizations in them, therefore, what ever you can get will have customizations,so it's upto you to remove all those customizations and addon whatever your needs are.
cheers

But of course! Precisely why I am cooking my own. So far so good, it looks as OEM as can be. Only a few bugs left to work out... missing Comm Manager and I think there are a few Microsoft standard WM6 apps that were missing from the vanilla ROM I started with so I'll have to find those and add them. I also need to do a few registry tweaks here and there to set defaults. It's a fun learning experience.
hi, peeps.
Im having a play with some bits and pieces and think I get it. Wondered if a kind Chef would mind taking me under thier wing and giving me a few bits to play with eg partially created roms, ones that didnt work, ones that did, a couple of different roms and then get me to try and merge them etc.
Want to extract some existiing roms so I can learn how the bits all work. Yes I have read the tuts and guides. But I fancy having a foster chef help me get up to speed.
Soz if this is against the rules, I just fancy trying to be an apprentice first and learn from different roms what worked and what didnt, and more importantly, why. Also want to learn about these tweaks people make to the dlls etc.

Well I am glad it helped you a bit on the way, and I fully understand why you search a mentor. All the info on cooking are great untill you reach more advanced areas best explained by chefs who knows the deal or others who are contributing and developing.
I have a couple more for you:
Universal WM6 ROM Kitchen
XDA PagePool Patcher v1.4 for ALL Kaiser Rom Files (and Touch dual)
Others string of intrest is:
how to edit a .rgu
how to create a oem
how the build a package
Remeber L26 and other great chef`s rgu`s are heavy modified. Theyre roms are stripped and customized over and over. We deadly need to start fresh, learning the kitchen, again and again its stucked in mind and fingers. Then move on and add oure own packages editing those oem and flash, reflash and flash some more. Reading up on forum while you are cooking is a great thing as its wery time consuming. Doing it basic adding one by one is a great learning curve and great for bugtesting.
Lucky me I am under a great chefs wing and will be happy to provide/pass on some basic knowledge about cooking if you gets stuck youre first week
Just shout out or pm me and ill do my best.

WOW! Thanks dude...
That stock tool removal will be my next step.
My first cooked rom still hasnt died yet - I just bunged anyold crap in to see how it would look, and if it would work. The fact it even booted amazed me - and there are even some bits I like in there. - for example there are 2 start menus, one normal WM version, the other like a Desktop. Id never seen that before - Id always wanted to clean out a rom, then put some of my most used apps - Opera, RSS, PIE a couple of games or something. Now I might "play" more and think more outside the box... Dunno yet !
Edit: - when I say 2 Start menus, I mean at the same time, depending on where you click on, icon for detailed version, word for simple version.

I use it all the time to make my own tweaks as I flash faster than flash gordon himself and cant be arsed hack the reg manualy everythims. You can build a house in there, im sure of it. Anyways, you should check it out.

Hi
It is good to see a determined fellas that try to cook. I'm no cook and merely a average user... but if i'm not mistaken, the two start menu you talking about might be coming from qmenu (the one that look like desktop.. by desktop i assume you mean windows desktop and it is a cascading start menu). maybe the base you use already have it installed.

Thanks raiisak, Its very refreshing to see someone who goes that bit further. I had seen some of those, but there are a few new links I hadnt come accross before.
Just bit the bullet and flashed my first rom It aint grear, but at least it works! Not getting the performance of Leo though, even though I used his core v4. Must try and see why.
To the "read the wiki" bregade, I confirm I had before I wrote this thread. Reason I asked for a mentor, is that is how I approach my work. For my employer, I have mentors, and I mentor others. Collaboration was what I thought forums and communities were all about - perhaps I was mistaken.
Once again, thank you to raiisak. No doubt Ill be in contact to see how you get on, as well as trying to learn with you if I can keep up

can you put links to post #1???
I'm sure if this will be nice summary in the end
thx
Firstly:
Sorry for the confusion I was not aware that "NO THRILLS" which is what I originally called this Basic ROM was someones 'Trade Mark'. Please forgive me for stepping on any toes, it was not intentional, and not intended to take away from anyones well earned glory. Sorry all!!.
So Here it is:
This is my first ROM I've put up for Download. I've been playing about with these ROMs for quite a while and I have really appreciated everyones help in developing wonderful tools and freely distributing them here.
XDA-Developers is just brillient
So This ROM is based on the latest ATT build (3.55.502.1) I have removed all of the ATT bloat ware, and several applications listed below, and left the ROM open for customizing. I have often found that Most ROMS have only the 5 tab Home, and the older Task Manager etc, so I have removed all traces of these applications and simply left the ROM barebones, so people can just add applications as needed.
Applications removed:
ATT Music Shop
ATT Games Shop
ATT Mobie TV
ATT Music ID
ATT Mall
Real Player
HTC Home
HTC Today Plug-in
HTC Task Manager
Windows Music Player Plug-in
Microsoft Welcome Center
Applications Added:
SDAutoRun
Windows Vista Wait Cursor
Windows Media Player Compatability Upgrade (now plays mp4 video)
Screen Capture App
Reg Editor
This ROM does run 2 additional small Cabs after first installed, these are adding small settings for the ATT network. These Cabs DO NOT AFFECT any none ATT users. Hence this ROM can be used on all carriers that I am aware of.
This ROM is compatible with all the 1.65 Radios. I have not Tried the 1.58 yet, but I have tried the new 1.71 Radio and that one is also compatible with this ROM.
Voice Command and all the OFFICE applications are still there, as is NETCF2.0
I have uploaded two copies, one with the radio, and one without.
I am planning on doing a fully loaded ROM soon based on this acrhitecture.
Please let me know what you guys and girls find with this new ROM
Thank you

I called this ROM a NO THRILLS Rom. Sorry for any confusion but this rom is in no way associated with the Master Chef "NoThrills". Please forgive me if I mis-represented this ROM. I simply ment that it was a stripped down ROM with only Basic Apps installed. In England where I am originally from No Thrills means just that, "very basic". Which is why I used the term. I was not aware until recently that "NoThrills" was a xda members name.
However, NOTATreoFan is dead right its "No Frills" I was thinking of. Doh!!!!! Trust me I program better than I apparently speak !!!
Sorry for the confusion NoThrills. Please don't hate me, i'm just stupid
Problems Reported So Far
None, However some poeple have commented on various NETCF configurations, hence the list of availlable versions has been updated to accomodate these requests.
Now you can have :
No NETCF

NETCF3.0
Enjoy!
Thx M8, I'll give it a go...

This isnt the "No Thrills" that you think it is, it looks like we have a new chef which is great but I agree that this should prob be changed from "No Thrills" that is of course you want a cluttered thread with questions like the above. Its always nice to have another chef though, Ill give it a whirl if I get the time.

He can rename it to No Frills. Oh wait... that would confuse people who shop at Pathmark and buy their house-brand products...

I hate to be that guy who says "I told you so" but, I told you so LOL
You are right. I was not aware until just now that NoThrills was someones call sign. I have changed the name of the file and printed an appology in the listing.
Thank you for your comments.
Like yourself...I'm anxiously trying and struggling to become a avid chef in cooking ROMs. Is it possible that you could direct a noobie like me to a tutorial or Wiki about what steps you took to take out most of the different AT&T apps and such? This is something I've been trying to do for some time now and have failed at almost every attempt. Any help would be greatly appreciative so that I can further my cooking expertise. If you don't know where to find information could you possibly post a Wiki or tutorial on how you done it yourself?
EDIT: Can someone mirror this through MegaUpload? Rapidshare keeps giving me an error.

Great Entrance, Anthony, but I welcome your "stripped" WWE Rom to the Kaiser community..
Great stuff for those who like it plain and simple.
Good to see so many new chefs around.
Look forward to seeing more of your work in future.
WIzard200x,
"Stripped" .... Yes that would of been perfect
Next time, I will think a little harder before giving my creations a name.
Thank you everyone for your understanding !!

Could you help a fellow new chef out and give me some pointers on how you edited some of the files?

Hi,
I'm not sure if there is a quicker way to do it, but for me it was a case of locating each and every file for the apps not wanted and deleteing them. Then I went through each rgu file and removed all entries concerning the programs no longer installed. You also have to go through each provxml file to locate any references in there as well, otherwise the rom might develop instabilities. I also did some very minor dsm extractions.
My ROM will decomplie again, so if your looking for a basic architecture to begin on, download my rom and extract it.
Hope that helps

What did you use to view the rgu, provxml files, and dsm files?
I keep getting an error saying that I'm already downloading a file from RapidShare when I try to download either version

Which files are you refering too :
I used notepad for the following files
.provxml
.rgu
and a HEX editor for:
.dsm
I can not report to much success with the dsm files. My knowledge of this area is limited. I was able to remove some lines that were not wanted, but some of the files did not translate well.
Hope that helps
That helps me out quite a bit. I'm going to retry what I've been battling all night and see what I can come up with

Too soon, maybe in a couple month, I guess!
Microsoft already asked the main cook to remove the WM6.5 image. The ROM is still floating around minus all the cool 6.5 gui which makes it just a useless buggy build. So: patience, my young grasshopper, patience.

Okay thanks. I was getting a bit worried and starting to think that the Wing gets no love. Everyone's busy building stuff for the Kaiser HD Diamond etc but nothing for the Wing..

Here is a video of the new wm6.5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=US&...ideo-feature-tour-hits-youtube/&v=RAq5lFQFyMI
It's a beta yet, but it shows a lot of of improvements hoping for a better performance.
I hope we will see it really soon on our herald!
I don't know... but after watching that video wm6.5 don't seem to impress at all, except the start menu that is laid-out differently.
Well we can say something about PIE but there are many better options out there. Also the scrolling is easily achieved by TouchFlo (which is default in all the roms posted here), and the large menu buttons can be achieved simply by using a larger font (through advance configurator).
Where is the novelty? Same old apps, and the screen that shows the list of documents when opening the pocket word program still reveals the fundamental finger-unfriendly side of wm6.x.
Wm7 then it's be more attractive IMHO. Just my 2 cents.

I agree but if it performs better like WM6.1 did for me I will happily upgrade. But the main thing I am looking forward to is the Today Plugin. I sure hope someone puts it out there in cab form. But right now most of the roms here are fast and put together so well our expectations will be high for any official release from M$.
hey ivanmmj !!! i am a great fan of your roms... i just wana ask dat is there any way through which i can expand my ram and rom through hard-spl.... my herald doesnot support flashing through storage card....
