Hi,
Does anyone know a decent remote control application for the HD2?
By that I mean something to control Windows Media Player running on my PC from my phone.
I know I could use the remote desktop application but I'm looking for something more simple, like a basic remote with pause, play, volume, etc.
Either bluetooth or wifi run...
Thanks

How to get that zoom help tool in that video. The minifullscreen at the bottom at the screen.???
As the guy on youtube said, you just have to pinch to zoom and if the actual view is not the smallest one, you will have this little navigation view

I'm pretty sure both GRemote and Salling Clicker can do this, both are good apps.
Salling Clicker is perfectly doing the job. Not only controlling WMP but also (with extra scripts) several other apps like MediaMonkey, PowerPoint, etc. Highly recommended
I'm trying Salining Clicker over wireless but no success, are using wi-fi or bluetooth?
no newer apps that look a bit nicer?
GRemote looks nice and works great.
I use registered version of Alloysoft Signal
Not quite perfect on WVGA, but great app any way. Worth paying the $$ for full functionality IMO.

GRemote is still the best. Works over WiFi and Bluetooth and enables you to control your Mouse, MediaPlayer, Racing Games via GSensor etc just everything... And the interface is quiet nice

How does bluetooth and stream work, do you use a app??
Have you had a look at iMediashare in the market? I use it to stream from my Dinc to my WDTV LIVE. Only done music and images, so can't speak as to whether it does video effectively or not.
Sent from my Dinc using XDA App
Digging up this old thread. Did you find a solution for it?
iMediashare is limited by content it can read. ie. cant play Spotify or Google Music wich would be my main purpose of this.
Anyone know of an app that would work?
Help
I have the same problem.
Need a app for getting my spotify (on galaxy s2) to my Apple TV 2gen.
That would be epic!

As far a i can see, this has the same limitations as iMediashare that i mentioned earlier. It cant play from Spotify/Google Music.
Does anyone know if this is even possible on Android? I am considering trying to develop an app to do this myself as i really miss this possibility both on my tablet and phone.
I second that request
I also really need this feature, What airfoils does for windows, i need on my 3.2 tablet and 4.0 phone.
the ability to grab sound from any program running, and sent it to any DLNA compatibly unit on the network. Airport express, windows media player and so on.
Like Mixy says, all the programs that i have found a limited to share the content that they can play.
A Android Airfoil remote, would do the trick in my case. So that my windows server, running XBMC was the source of the sound, if i only could remote turn on Airfoil speakers from my phone.
I would recommend all interested to send a mail to Rogue Amoeba (dev of Airfoil), saying you are interested in this app. I've done so, but showing increased interest would be good.
I'm interested too ! Looking for something like the sonos solution but using a wifi network connected device and operating through something like airfoil for android. Any reply from Rogue Amoeba ?
I just sent Rogue Amoeba a message, will let everyone know there response.
This is what i got the last time i mailed them:
Hi Fredrick, As far as sending audio FROM Android out, it's unlikely we'll be doing that (though we'll see). We do hope to introduce an Airfoil Speakers (the receiving end) client for Android - we'll see what happens in the future.
-Paul
EDIT:
I should also add that I am playing with the idea of making something like this myself. I dug around in the Android SDK and could not find anything to get audio-stream from other apps. This is due to security of apps and their content. Spotify does not want their stream to be able to be recorded etc.
I'm no dev, so my research is slow, but from what i can tell this app would require root, and possibly also injection of code into the ALSA library used by Android.
I also received a response:
Thanks for getting in touch with us. Currently, our mobile development plans are only to improve upon Airfoil Speakers Touch for iOS devices. However, we're evaluating interest in extending Airfoil Speakers to other platforms, so this sort of feedback definitely helps. So, stay tuned for updates from us and do let us know if you've got any other questions or issues.
Mixy your finding makes sens. Maybe find a equalizers program, they also must grab the sound from playing apps, right ?
But then a again, what i really need is the ability to toggle playing sound unit.
I wrote this trough Rogue Amoeba support page.
http://getsatisfaction.com/rogueamoeba/topics/airfoil_for_android
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849097
I like to toggle speakers playing on a windows airfoil from my android.
and second i like a airfoil grabber for android, so that all sound are transmitted.
So the windows server can see that transmit and you can from your android unit, control the windows server and on that server's airfoil speakers press receive from android unit.

What about emulating a Bluetooth speaker ?
Still protected by SDK limits ?
All sounds are passed through to the speaker, can it be grabbed here and sent to a dnla unit ?

This is the answer from Rogue Amoeba, disappointing answer. So i guess its time to look for another program, that does what airfoil does but + android support.
Hi there,
At this time, we have no plans for Android versions of any of our software, but we'll see what happens.

Hi guys, I'm very interested too with an app that allows you to send Spotify to an Airplay receiver ... I heard about a plugin for Doubletwist that allows you to stream what you're listenning with this player to Airplay ... So maybe you could check for this to allow streaming every audio programs that are played ? I'm not a dev so ...
Good luck if you try to make an app by yourself, I really hope it'll be working and I would be the first owner !
Its true that you can play mp3 files to an airplay reciever, but that is because the program "owns" the music.
In the case of Spotify, the Spotify app owns the music, and thus it would have to hijack the audio-stream
First off can't put it down, this thing is insane an I didn't even hack it yet. (Waiting to go buy a micro SD card) Got a couple of questions. I use iTunes and would like to stream my library to my g tablet, is there a compadiable app,or do ibhave to move my library to windows media player, if so is there an app that will allow me to control my library like iPhones remote app? And lastly any kick a$$ apps out there? In the short time I've had it found a killer emulator and spent the day kicking it old school...lol thanks in advanced to all who respond.
Unfortunately I can't suggest an iTunes sync app as I don't use it.
As for killer apps, you might want to mention some of your interests in a tablet - ie. video playback (Rockplayer), ebooks (Aldiko), comics (ACV or JJComics Viewer) etc.
Sync
Try doubletwist for syncing your music (but not streaming)

I'm a techie type Guy, for instance getting this unit to sync my music, pictures and to get it to start my car or control my lighting, things like that.
Also an avid gamer, loving the emulators
My big thing is trying to find a way to get icefilm.info or something similar to it to stream movies on here so I can hook it up to the dock with HDMI to my TV.
You guys r awesome thanks in advance for taken the time to help me out

Might need to run an alternative server since itunes doesn't like to play nice with the standard. I run a firefly server on my nas.

Podcasts
Any suggestions on getting podcasts to sync? Using doubletwist doesn't exactly work properly; audio podcasts show up as playlists, not podcasts, which is OK, but video podcasts don't work at all.
Does anyone use any other program that will actually automatically download podcasts? It seems like most of the apps I've looked at are written for phones with 3g connections to listen to streaming podcasts, which the G-tab obviously doesn't do.
thanks

You can use .podkast or google listen.
I've used BeyondPod previously and works pretty well. It would be perfect if it were free, but i guess $7.00 is not too much of a price to pay after the trial is over.
Google listen seems to work for some people, but not others; I am apparently one of the others, because it will only stream and I can't figure out how to make it download, even though I've told it to do so.
I'm thinking of trying beyondpod or doggcatcher, but don't really want to pay until I know they'll work. Guess I'll go for the free trial.
Thanks!

Great app idea. I can't wait to try this out later.
+1, Will give it A whirl.
Cheers.
Nice! Finally airplay for android!
Next up, facetime!
Just tested it and I have to say, it fits the bill perfectly. I did notice the music quality was on the low-end, maybe have th ability to switch between different streaming qualities?
Also I think you mean AppleAirPort express, not extreme. The extreme is the actual, dual-band router, where the express is the wi-fi extender with audio out.
Nonetheless, consider me hooked, any ideas on pricing yet?

Audio quality should be as good as the source, as AirPlay sends a lossless stream. What happens for example if you compare the same track played locally on your device vs streamed by AirPlay (with comparable volume) ?
On my Samsung SGS , quality is as good as it gets.
If you hear a difference, can you describe it ?

Very impressed, What a great start! Will be supporting you for sure. Thanks and keep it up.
What about adding video support (aka making it a full airplay client) as you can now stream video from macs and do the reverse (with some hackery... It is xda dev afterall...!)
This looks quite interesting, looking forward to giving it a whirl...
awesome app !
hey there.. the app sounds great.. but i have no idea how to set it up.. ive never used airplay or had an iphone (not more than a month atleast) so could you please tell me what im supposed to do in itunes?
Just wondering how this thing works. I thought you needed some BridgeCo chip on the device to support airplay. Whatever, this is an awesome app.
so with this i can't stream music from my phone to a AirPort Express or have i got it all wrong?

Thats what im looking for, too. Would pay like 5-10€ for an app that makes streaming to airport possible.
I've added a link to a youtube video in first post that shows app appearing in itunes for streaming to the phone.
@Hampa_D: the app does the opposite. To stream audio from your phone to Airplay devices you can use Twonky Mobile.
Since Twonky Mobile is an Airplay client, it will see and stream audio to AirBubble as well.
Great!!!
I will give it a try at home. Hook my mobile to the amp and stream music from my Itunes Lib
TOP!

I've got a question: Could you make an app to stream Music FROM my Android Smartphone TO a Airport Express (and the connected speakers)?
(I've got so much music on my smartphone and it would be so nice to lay on the couch and hear music from my smartphone over my airport express and be able to switch to the next song or make it louder etc.)
