anyone know where i can find another battery cover? - Epic 4G Accessories

for the epic 4g?

I want one too!
Sent from my Epic 4G

Yeah, I need one, too.
Mine started making squeaky noise on one part and I think a new cover will remedy that problem.

I'd love to be able to buy a replacement battery cover. The official stock cover, that is. The soft-touch coating on the back of mine is already starting to peel off a little. I'm guessing the ridiculously hot weather where I live is to blame for that.

Count me in. I'd love to try modding a battery back and Seidio ActiveX case to accommodate a 2200mAH battery (using the exoskeleton plate to actually hold the battery in place), but I'm not brave enough to cut into my one and only back to try it.

Actually yes. The output is really too brittle unless you're just doing the dimensional prototyping. Since I use a hard case it would cool to see a back with a cutout in the stock back and take advantage of that extra couple mm.

[Q] IS this case a good idea? Is it already made? [UPDATE]

UPDATE
I actually found a silicone case on ebay. Its not how I wanted it to be but its still cool. Its a 2 piece and come in different colors. Something cool to mention is that it goes on top of the key board. I like the black and white ones the most
------------------------------------------------------------------------
A hard or silicone case that wraps/hugs the phone. For people like me that don't use the keyboard. So once you have the case you cant open it to use the keyboard. I hate letting people use my phone and they either play with the keyboard and messes up my hinge and etc. I have a case already (clear case with kickstand) but i want a case where it just wraps the whole phone so no one can flip out the keyboard.
Who thinks this is a good idea?
is it already made and I just dont know?
I think it's a pretty good idea.
i explained to my girlfriend how i thought the hinge was flimsy and i was worried about it breaking in the future. yet she still has to slide they keyboard numerous times a day, HARD. REALLY starting to piss me off. Friends do it too... it just needs a gentle push.. jesus

The one piece silicone cases are much better then the garbage protection we have now.
I DO use rubberbands already. Do any of you still have the bands that came on the usb and headphones in the retail box? I just have one wrapped around the trackpad. It works just fine for me and the black matches my case. Still slides out of my pocket just as easily as it did before, with the gel tmo case that is.
Saves my battery, my hinge, my keyboard, and gave me a reason to flash the amazing gingerbread multitouch keyboard sweetness of doom.

Then why didn't you just get a MyTouch 4G instead? If you never use the hardware keyboard, then it is just added weight and bulk. The MyTouch 4G trades a hardware keyboard for a front camera, more RAM, faster CPU, etc.

My girlfriend got a free G2 from the tmobile loyalty program several weeks back, and she's been wanting a case like this, as she never uses the physical keyboard. I don't think it's too ludicrous of a request. If it's between a free phone that happens to have a QWERTY and one that costs $120-200, I think it's relatively a no brainer.
I'm thinking of telling her to try this case: http://www.wirelessground.com/t-mobile-g2-aluminum-black-case.html. I just hope it doesn't add too much bulk.
I so want a case like the one described above. it would be one step closer to having a Desire HD
I felt the same way, initially, but have grown rather fond of being able to see the entire screen while I type. Not so sure I'd give that up now.

Case with kickstand other than OEM?

Sorry for yet another thread on cases, was wondering if anyone has found a G2 case with a kickstand other than the clear and black ones by the OEM. I've had the black one for a few months and the case to the front has already broken. Stand is kind of a dealbreaker for me as my phone's been my main source of entertainment the last month or so (my apartment was robbed of tv, computer etc and I'm still saving up for replacements).

geeze man, I really do feel for you and I hope everything in the future goes well. But with the case, I would look on eBay, and or Amazon if you haven't yet. There always seems to be more stuff on those sites. I thought I saw a body glove case with a stand, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I seriously doubt it.
For one, even if it did fit you would have to use a dremel or something to accommodate the bigger kickstand on the TB.

Hello cjmcmillion
Look at your battery cover, now back to mine, now back at your cover, now back to mine.
Sadly your battery cover isn't mine, but If it stopped being an Evo battery cover and switched to a Thunderbolt's it could fit like mine.
Look down ...back up... where are you? You're in a store with your battery cover wishing your cover could fit like mine.
What's in your hand? ... back at me. I have it, it's a cover with a fit you love. Look again, the cover now fits a Thunderbolt.
Anything is possible when your battery cover fits like The Thunderbolt's and not an Evo.

[Q] Can we get a new battery door?

All of these cases you see on Amazon and Verizon and nobody has considered machining a new battery door out of aluminum or something? The cheap plastic has gotta be the #1 thing a lot of people hate about this phone, and I would definitely be willing to pay $15-20 for a nice metal back.
Does Samsung have some kind of patent that prevents this?

I suspect a metal door would interfere with the antennas, wouldn't it?
On the Nexus S, some guy had the same complaint about the plastic feeling cheap, he came up with a mod that involves spraying some rubber coating on it. Seems popular, cheap, easy, and reversible.

most other oem's use metal doors...samsung seems to be the only fan of plastic. there might be something you have to do to prevent interference but it has to be possible.

It would be nice if we could get something like a soft-touch black plastic battery door for better grip/nicer feel/less fingerprints. Also might be more functional than a metal door on our Charges. The antennas are on the bottom-back of the phone for some reason.
Samsung doors
I called Samsung today and they have two different doors you can buy I believe still plastic but have a nicer look and one somehow charges or keeps the battery charged longer (nvm it is only a inductive bacK). What I get for believing them lol, but anyways just thought I would share what I found.

The funny part is the shape and cutouts of the pictured cover match the Charge.
Would really love to see a more grippy battery door with kickstand for this phone. I'm looking to replace my Thunderbolt with a Charge and I know I'm going to really miss the kickstand.
The Samsung holster/case combo looks nice, but it's going to add unwanted bulk and I'm pretty sure it won't fit in the car and desk docks with the case on.
Samesung's Website
That pic I posted is directly from Sammy's website so don't know why you feel it isn't legit. Unless Samsung is teasing us or posting a false picture lol...Anyways here is the link...http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EBC-994WBEBSTD?
I tried Phantom skinz carbon fiber wrap to add some texture for better grip on this phone but ended up not liking it and peeled it off.
Recently went with the plastidip spray on stuff and it works much better. 2 coats of it are working great adding a good grippy feel to the back battery cover. Hope that helps.

Only did the outside of the cover, no point in doing the inside as well.

Seemed like people were doing the inside as well to make it harder to peel off, but I don't know if it'd make a difference.
Does the phone still fit in the Car and Home dock with the back sprayed?
I don't have any official docks so I can't guarantee, but it adds very little thickness... unless the phone is already snug in the dock it will be fine.

Replacement backs?

What are the chances that we will see replacement backings sold? Would they only be possible from LG or third parties too? I'd love to see a plastic replacement backing sold, if for no other reason than to have an extra back to use when I'm going out, just replace it at home and head out

I don't know, but I hope it is soon. I'd love to see some carbon fiber or leather backs being made.
with antennas and other components attached to the back glass wouldn't it be pretty unfeasible to see replacement backs?
What do you mean replace it at home and be out? You realize is screwed in right? It's also got a whole bunch of crap attached to it like antennas and wireless charging stuff.
If you mean like a skin or something, check out Skinomi they already have carbon fiber skins and others for this device.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I know it has screws but it can still be taken off, its just not "hot swappable" (easy to take off). I'm fairly certain it's still feasible to have different backings available, and maybe the replace it for going out was a little much, maybe its a bit more difficult than that, but to be able to replace it with something made of carbon fibre would be fantastic, just to not worry about the glass. Or even a replacement made of the same stuff for worse case scenario (it breaks). As for antennas and such, of course these would have to be taken into account for and added to any new ones.

You're acting like the back of the Nexus 4 is hideous or something. It's actually the most beautiful back side I've seen on a phone since the iPhone 4. Cool your jets and don't mess with what you have.
Q
I would love to see a replacement back that had a 4000mAh battery in it. I don't care if it added 6-8mm of bulk to the back. As long as it had a battery and another set of charging wires for the Qi charger I'd be happy.
I want some POWER!

Why don't you cool your jets before jumping to conclusions? I actually like the back and think it looks nice. However, it is glass and will crack eventually. I'm very careful with my phones and have never had a cracked screen, but accidents do happen. I also don't like how slippery it is. I'm getting a case for it to fix that problem, but just replacing the back with a different material would be nice. Just because YOU don't want a product doesn't mean others don't either.

Nexus 4 doesn't have a replaceable back and most likely never will... Use a good protective case when going out. I leave a case in my car and use it when I know I'm going out to the bar.
sometimes I joke to myself to tape the edges and the camera/speaker on the back and give the phone a quick once over using FlexSeal (rubber in a can) to protect it. LOL
That cannot be good for heat diffusion.

That seems hard to you? A proper torx screwdriver and a guitar pick would have the backing off in a hurry.
For those who say the backing is "not replaceable" must not have owned a Galaxy Nexus. At first people said it couldn't be replaced easily but then the white rear housing was released and people started swapping it onto their phones with no problem. And that rear housing requires much more patience and work than the backing of the Nexus 4 does.
I really wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing replacement backings in the near future. Ideally, I would like to see one without glass for obvious reasons. One with kevlar would be FANTASTIC!
