its basically just crop and resize like you said, but!
i've found out that 1920x1080 (or same aspect) resolution pictures, work the best for two resons. First, they are HD and secondly, all you have to do is cut a little part of the image (top or bottom) and resize it to 1440x800 without destroying the "feel" of the image. Check the image below, "remove" the red line, and you'll get what i mean.

These pics look nice with CHT. Problem is when you swipe left or right the taskbar/softkey image doesn't change. Anyone know how to make the these images follow when swiping?

Put them anywhere you like, then select it in the settings tab. You will find it opens the album, then select the picture.

Important notes:
There are a total of 292 wallpapers split into three zip files. See below for download links and preview thumbnails and check post 2 for today screen examples based a few of those wallpapers.
The attached wallpapers are 800x400 HD wallpapers (full screen) instead of the and 696x400 versions (fullscreen minus taskbar and softkey bar). Therefore they are most useful when used in combination with HDWall or Max TF3D or other utilities that allow the use of full screen wallpapers by enabling transparent or aero style taskbar and softkey bars. For guidance on how to enable full transparency including taskbar and softkey bar, please check the following threads:

I anyone wants me to add their favourites to the thread, please PM me your wallpapers and I will create a best off with those. I think it makes sense to have a centralized source for wallpapers rather than having to look through hundreds of pages in various threads.
I already have a few third party ones (not own creations) that I am considering adding into a third archive file. but in order to minimize work I will wait until I have at least a further 50 to post.

Your thanks are much appreciated. It is such a relief to have everything out and posted. You can imagine how I was feeling when I started this project.
Downloading entire desktop wallpaper web sites with Metaproducts Offline Explorer really sped up the work, but the editing of so many png files...

It works for me. You probably tried downloading during peak time. Wait until the bandwith tracking has been reset.

I second this....although i dont think its hard, but it is a tad bit annoying. I want like a full packed up zip.
These are cool thanks for sharing. I also made a big pack of wallpapers I use with the Photo Gallery Live Wallpaper that I might as well share. They are high quality png's cropped down to n1 res from a bunch of wallpapers I got on deviantart. The way I use them is I put them all on the sd card in some folder then point the live wallpaper at that folder.
Sorry, it is a big file (98.46MB). It has 105 wallpapers at the time of posting this but I do add to it.

Thats what im running, the wide screen or 900 X 680 or whatever. They just look a little distorted.
CHT 1.8.5 is it what u r using?.........you set them in wide wallpaper and disable portrait...........you see it while swiping through quicklinks

Yep. When I look at these pictures in normal album viewer they look AMAZING. But then once set to a background. They just look kinda fuzzy.
Now if I do one thats just like a graphic image, not a live picture or scenery, they look perfect. Just the live/scenery pictures look distorted.

I’m a newbie HTC HD2 owner, my phone is a Tmous leo original ROM 2.13.531.1(90963) WWE, Manilla 2.520121412.2 and I have these two custom images (240x320.gif).....
......and I tried to use them as an animated lockscreen wallpaper and doesn’t work, also I tried to use them as an animated home wallpaper and doesn’t work either.
I would greatly appreciate if someone is kind enough to help me make this work in my phone.

1st. No, I don't use CHT. (I wish to, but I can't for the moment)
2nd. I searched arround and I only saw an animated one for "U2S2" lockscreen, but I don't know if could be any for the original lockscreen.
3th. If I can't use any of them as a lockscreen, I'll be more than happy to use them as an animated wallpaper like the fish tank I'm using thanks to Whiskeybro and this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=619450
Also I resized my costum animated gifs from 240x320 to 432x576 size and now fix perfectly the phone screen, but no animation at all

You can't just resize an animated image in my experience. There's some "magic" that needs to be done to do it properly even though your image editing program seems to be doing it it only does it on one frame and only saves that frame.

Thanks for reply, well, I don't know to much about it, but my original costum images are 240x320 gif. files and as I said, I resized them to 432x576 like as shown now,
