Is there any registry fix or hack which could allow the weather animations to continuously run?
Thanks to some of the weather mods on here (Atmosfera at the moment), I'd be quite happy to have the animations running all day long, even if it hits the battery.
Seperately, it made me think that if this was possible, you could make the equivalent of animated "fore-skins" for your homescreen (e.g. a flock of birds that fly around and then come back etc.)
Is this a load of rubbish or is this possible? Thanks!
Oh, I very interesting about this to...
Why noone answers here?
It probably would be possible to have a constant weather animation but it wouldnt just be a simple case of editing the registry......
would also probably destroy your battery and slow down the device.........
For animated forelayer your answer lies in this thread......
but to save you some time........ the answer is no............
there are some birds in there but they aint movin.........

Hi,
I'd like to know if it's possible "to loop" the weather animation on the homepage of the HTC HD2. I like it very much and I'd like to see the animation all the time that I see the home.
Thanks in advance.
Must I modify some value in register system?
That's a good question!! Must be possible via the reg - but I cannot find it!!
Thanks.
Anyone know how it can be made?

I reckon it will mean an edit of the files that are the animated weather, but I can't find them. I had a pretty good look round and just couldn't find them anywhere (obvious).
It's gotta be doable, but you've gotta bear in mind that the animation fades in, so a loop may look pretty bad. (Imagine you've got a load of snow falling over your screen and then it just disappears and starts to fade in again, not to mention the sliding of the corner images in snow!)
It's gonna take someone knowing where the files are stored and knowing how to edit them well to make this work. It may simply be too much to ask with the current animations.
I hope not, cos I'd love constant snow on my home page at the minute. It looks great for the few seconds that it does work!
I'm pretty sure what you want will result in huge energy draw and battery will die too fast.
ok, there are just a few things I need help figuring out, and the problem is, as much of a PC/computer dog that I am, I am so lost...this Moto Droid I've got is amazing, but it's almost too open sourced for me...
I'd like a cool theme, maybe...but what I really want to do is have a nice clean app for the weather, see a glimpse of facebook, a smooth running music player (haven't even used the built in one yet, but I like shuffle and choosing where the song is playing at, if the built in one has it, awesome), I need quick links, and a grid for my apps that lets me put a ton of apps in one spot, because as great as it is that I have 3-5 screens for apps, I want just one, lol, and I need to have a percentage indicator by, or as the battery icon, not as an after market app...preferably with better than by 10's or 20's only...
If I did a theme, it would just be so that I can have more colorful or neon-esque icons/app icons...but not the be all and end all...
I'm taking suggestions, and would love help or explanations on installs or developing myself...
So I made my Homescreen too look like WP7 but I was wondering is there a way to have animated gif widgets?
Have a look at http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/appwidgets/index.html if you have no experience making widgets. It's possible to make one that's animated by breaking the gif apart and making the widget one big ImageView that's constantly being updated with the new frames, but it might have adverse effects on your battery. I don't think it'll animate on it's own if you simply supply a gif as the drawable for the imageview.
aww man I think making widgets is way beyond my scope I would definitely try it maybe I just got into the whole rooting and flashing roms like a week ago =P but thank you for the reply
No problem, dude. Check out a book called 'Professional Android 2 Application Development' by Rito Meier if you want to take a crack at developing android apps. It's a pretty good book and goes over most of the "fun" stuff (includes widgets, live wallpapers), as well as the basics. You should probably read some Java tutorials beforehand if you've never done any sort of programming, since the book kind of assumes you know that. Good luck!
Hello.
I read about custom widgets, themes, layouts etc. for SPB 3.0.1 and I think it's not too hard to actually make them. I'd very much love to make personal themes, rather than using somebody else's, no matter how eye candy those are. I think you feel me.
Please can anyone spare a minute to direct me to what I need to get started? The problem is I have a Nokia 5230, so it's symbian and I'm aware that the forum is about Windows but I noticed that people know precisely what they're doing and I hope the OS doesn't matter if it's about SPB.
What exactly I want to do is make custom widgets like clock, battery, carrier etc. (more like changing their icons -- shapes, colors -- rather than their functionality/code) I would then collect them into a theme.
Now I saw you had to edit the registry, qa_layouts.dat and some xml files. But as when I say "registry" I say "Windows", I'm starting to loose my hope, plus I don't know a dim about where to start researching.
I read jgjackson's How to add a custom widget but I don't know where to get the dat and what to do with it in the first place.
It all came to me from the fact that I didn't like the default blue SPB theme and my aesthetic demon keeps yelling into my ears: "black and white", "black and white", "greys at least", "transparent widgets", - shut up!! - "B&W" lol
So, after searching the Apps section and trying a few Apps suggested by some others, I am at a loss for why this doesn't exist. I know Lock screens are pretty well dead due to the advent of biometric logins but Live Wallpapers still seem to thrive. I know all the bad that comes with them, battery life and whatnot. But every Live Wallpaper I have seen, is little more than either a looped video or an animation that plays in a loop (maybe the rare one is interactive but I digress). Perhaps it is because widgets exist, but those too come with their own set of limitations I am sure, since I am not a developer I would not know.
If anyone remembers the HTC Sense 5 Weather Live Wallpaper, it was on the lockscreen but that is unimportant. It was a great weather live wallpaper, had excellant animations including lightning rain drops on the screen, snow, moon cycle, etc..
I am looking for a fullscreen widget that will do this, or perhaps a halfscreen? The point is, a widget that does weather animations based on the current weather conditions and perhaps a few hours out and then when you press on the widget, it would open whatever default weather app you had or at the least, whatever app it was using for its information.
Since I am pretty sure this app doesn't exist, it either means this is a new idea (VERY unlikely) or that there is a limitation somewhere (perhaps only on Samsung devices?) that is preventing it from working the way I am hoping. Its been many years since I was here and it makes me wonder if this idea has already been hashed out and found to be dead or if the idea just went away.
If anyone can let me know, I would appreciate it. If I am missing something, perhaps an app that looks a bit shady (low number of reviews and downloads) but is exactly what I am looking for, please give me the name. I've been all over the Play Store and the Galaxy Store and it kind of makes me wonder why this doesn't exist or if I am just blind.
FYI, my current device is the Fold 3, so if HTC has something that is what I am looking for but won't work on my device, it will suck but the question is still valid.
Thanks!
