Hey !
When installing a custom rom (Pinky ROM 1.0), I broke the recovery mod. So I went to that post as advertised by ROM Manager :
[HOW TO] Fix Quickboot as well as reboot into recovery from ROM Manager.
The problem is that I don't know what "toast's recovery". I've made some research and even asked in the post but nobody answered me.
Could some one please take some time to answer me ? That would be really nice

That belongs to the question and answer thread and not in Desire Development.
Toasts recovery is like clockwork recovery for evo 4g. Don't use this cause it's for another phone, use clockworck mod instead.

good day to all this is my 1st time to use this phone i bought this from a friend the unit is already cynogen mod 2.2 but i want to try the froyo version which is 2.2.1 because i encountered a lot of fc in my version
any sugestion ow to make start what file i need what thing 1st to do...
things to xda and to the person will guide me here
If you want to learn about installing roms read "Beginners GUIDE:Rooting a HTC Dream(T-Mobile G1) and Installing CYANOGENMOD 6 (FROYO)"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=727688
As you already have an old Cyanogen rom, your phone is already rooted, so you can skip the 1st part of the guide (you may want to read it anyway for a better understanding of what was already done on your device).
Once you select the rom you want to flash, you can post your questions on installing that rom in that rom's thread.
Happy flashing!

Usually NOT (changing your rom doesn't unroot your phone).... and this is the development section! Next time post in the question and answer section and we're all happy.

Hi all.
I'm interesting in beginning to make some mods to my G2X.
I've seen some people posting that there is a very unique way to successfully get CWM (ROM MANAGER) on the phone.
I came from a Samsung Vibrant. On the Vibrant, I simply Downloaded ROM Manager from the market, and that worked like a charm.
I've downloaded ROM manager from the market on my G2x. There have been 2 or 3 updates to the app since I downloaded it.
With the version of ROM Manager that I have, am I okay to begin flashing zips, or will I mess my phone up?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Start by deleting this post. Then search. Then, if still confused, repost in the right section. This is just going to get flamed.

1st, welcome to the G2x.
2nd, this should have been posted in Q&A to keep the Dev Section clean.
3rd, though RM has a version of CWM for the G2x, it is best to flash recovery through NVFlash.
You can get all you need from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Wrong forum buddy, there is a G2x Q&A where someone will answer your question, this forum is only for development of the G2x, not for questions.
Flame on.
Wrong forum. Should be in questions.
To answer your question... yea that works but you should nvflash Clockworkmod first.
Nvflash will stick and enables power+down to get into recovery while booting.
Simply using rom manager WILL work but doesn't enable power+volume down on boot up. So if you use rom manager and something screws up and you bootloop... it'll be harder to fix.
Lesson: nvflash once... then use rom manager as normal. Best of both worlds.
G2x CM7.1 style - Android 2.3.4
Thanks everyone for your help.
Sorry about posting in the wrong spot... I'll make my way to Q&A.
Id like to be the first to say sorry for some rude people. Nvflash is how we get down in the g2x forums.
Its not hard either
this will get you going if you havent figured out yet.

Excuse me if it's the wrong place to ask this question.
In a lot of threads/guides/etc i read that it's best for the i9023 model to use the modified CWM recovery posted in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988686).
My question is: can't I just use the non-modified CWM recovery by koush? (http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/02/clockwork-recovery-image.html) Or is it important to use the modified one?
thank you

j_r0dd has done an awesome job updating cwm from the latest source (with his own tweaks). Koush has not updated his ns build since 3.0.2.4, which was the last version to NOT work for the 9023.
Hi,
I recently purchased TF101 and new to this forum. Could anyone provide proven method for below items.
1. Rooting
2. Installing TWP recovery (it seems this good for TF101 compared to CWM ???)
3. Which is best ROM for 4.2 ?
Your help will be appriciated and thanks for providing details
Thanks & Regards

Frederuco is the man to look for in regards to beginner guides. Try this to begin with:
http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...t/31927-frederuco-s-guide-root-rom-tf101.html
There are a few good ROMs out there but I recommend Katkiss.
I too recommend KatKiss. I am running the 4.3 flavor and it is just awesome IMO.
Have a look through that guide. If you have any issues, let me know and I will assist. There are other methods too like Thing O Doom's PERI tool if that doesn't work. The biggest thing is to make sure you have a USB cable that works with a PC. Otherwise you cannot root.
Stick with TWRP unless you want to run Android Revolution (based in stock ICS firmware). In that case use CWM. And do not ever use ROM Manager with your TF101.

I have a tf101 which I rooted successfully with Frederuco's method using EasyFlasher, then got my Other Half another tf101 for Christmas and EasyFlasher didn't work, PERI did (although I somehow managed to delete the stock ROM whilst flashing) which didn't annoy me too much as I wanted her to be running KatKiss anyway)
What's the danger of using ROM Manger with the tf101, I use to reboot into recovery though have never used it for flashing ROMs or such like.

Ziggy, I figured you would have seen this since you've been around so long.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671598
Don't use ROM Manager to update or install CWM recovery or try to flash updates.
I just use the buttons to reboot to recovery.

Hey Frederuco - I was joking too (imitating Bart Simpson writing out lines on the blackboard at school)
BTW Season's greeting to you and yours
Hello, i am apologizing if i missed the right thread for this but i have a question. I am using Samsung Galaxy S4 mini Rooted with clockwork recovery mode ver 6.0.5.0 flashed with Odin. I wanted to try to update the version of the recovery so i downloaded rom manager but the app says that my device isnt supported via CWM. How is this possible and what is the way for me to check if I am using the latest version of CWM on my device, because i am using cyanogenmod and today came the long waited update to 5.0 Lollipo and the CM team posted that we need to have the latest recovery in order to flash the new OS but i couldnt find out if mine is the latest and why rom manager says my phone isnt supported.
Hi,
Rom manager is known to cause many issues.... Personally, I'd uninstall it.
As far as recovery, you can flash it with Odin as you did before. As far as what the newest one is, you could ask in the rom thread. But I think most use twrp, which has a thread in your device Development section.
You can browse through that section here.... (I don't see a CWM thread )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-mini/development
And original development here,

Good luck!
