Hey Forum Members I just wanted to share an interesting event that happened to me last weekend...
I own a Trinity and it really does serve me well, but with all the hype and talk about the iPhone I wanted to give this device a try. I have read many things about its user interface and just how well it does the things it can do. So while going to Buffalo to do some shopping I picked up an iPhone.
I came home with my iPhone all excited and called up my buddy to come over to unlock and jailbreak it for me. I live in Canada and is using the Rogers network so iPhone must be unlocked to work. My buddy is an Apple/iPhone junkie who knows everything about it, plus I did not want to brick the device so I'd rather not do it myself. He came over at 9:00pm and it was done at 1:00am the next morning. The TTC (Public Transit) stopped running already on a Sunday night so I must drive my friends home and they live FAR!
A little background about myself (makes me sound like a loser but is relevant to the story):
In Toronto, Canada we have something that is called graduated licensing, I got my G2 license 5 years ago, but did not drive or had the chance to practice because I didn't have a car. When I got my car 3 years after I got my G2 I never drove because I was rusty and I preferred to get driven around instead.
It came to 1 month before my G2 expired which would mean that I would need to start from the beginning if I wanted my full license (my G). So I drove like crazy for the last month and did my highway test and surprisingly passed. So now I have my full license but my driving and sense of direction is really sh!t!!!
Back to the story:
So now I must drive my friends home and I didn't want to tell them the story above because I sound like such a loser. My wife is pregnant and she was sleeping so I can't wake her up. So I just grind my teeth and said I will drive them straight home.
Now with working iPhone on one hand and my Trinity on the other, I activated the GPS on my Trinity and had to pretend I am a good driver for the next 1 hour ride. At this point I was scared going on the highway by myself and not having a clue where the hell I was going (My friends don't drive and they had no idea how to get home from my place either). So i relied on the Trinity's GPS and just went for it. I managed to drive my friends home safely and I used the Trinity to reroute to go home. By the way, it was raining and very windy Sunday night. On my way home I thought to myself, wow what an ordeal and how ironic. My friend came over to get my iPhone to work so I can probably give up my Trinity, but in the end it was my Trinity that saved me!!! When I got home and this was about 2:30am I thought why did I even go through all this??? I sold my iPhone the next day!
My conclusion is that the iPhone is an amazing device and it does what it can do in an AMAZING way. The user interface is unmatched and the look and feel of the device is top notch. The web browsing is like no other mobile device I have ever used. But when you look beyond the esthetics, it really couldn't do much for me. I had to learn the hard way!!!
This story is just my peronal opinion on the iPhone due to experience and I just want to say I am NOT bashing the iPhone, but after this I will NEVER give up my Trinity/WM device for it.

This makes me a think i maybe doing a mistake selling my XDA Atom for Iphone , i think i should keep both...
when you look at what the Iphone can do and then look at what our HTC phones can do it doesnt make sence for anyone on this forum to give up there HTC phone for an iphone. Heck it doesnt even make sence to purchase one.
Everything is subjective, but I have happily transitioned to using an iPhone over my collection of HTC devices. The key for me is the tweaking ability now avail on the iPhone. With the program ibrikr, you can add/download/delete files, ringtones and install 3rd party software.
While it is not true GPS, I use an application called Navizon on the iPhone and it is amazing how well it works. I do still bring my Trinity on some trips, but really there is nothing I "need" the HTC for. Don't get me wrong, I still love my Touch and Trinity, but am a daily iPhone user for the near future.

They'd better also sue the PalmOS guys for copying the 'look' and 'feel' (read: 'grid of icons' and 'uninspiring').
well the touch wiz app drawer does function quite a bit like the apple home screen. but apple is sue crazy. i mean they didn't invent the pinch, scifi movies/tv shows did, unless someone stole there exact implimentation of it there is no way to win. and even still there are only a few logical ways to do such a thing. and who is apple to sue, didnt xerox invent the gui concept that al computers use today? how is this different? they steal ideas all the time.
and as far as the app drawer goes and launcher goes the launcher might lok like ios but thyat's just a matter of how many icon they choose to use, they cant patent the 4 icon view.. and apple doest have an app drawer at all, that alone should take care of the homescreen view. then the app drawer scrolling left to right in a page view is hardly revolutinary. and the icons being arangable also is no big deal. what samsung didn't do was use long press to rearange app drawer icons, not the same. also how many ways can you rearange icons in a limited space?
so it is shaky i think the idea is more to send a message to consumers that they are originators not copycat. it's all about perceptions.
suing samsung is like saying no one else can allow users to customized there apps in an intuitive way. the implimentation may look similar but it is in the app drawer not home screen, actually motorola is more similar because they have icons that auto maticall move out of the way on the home screen if i remember right. also the process of moving icons is very diferent. the drawer needs to be in edit mode from menu and app can not be uninsalled. so i guess it is just about icons that move out of the way when you move them, in that case add motorola to the list!

Steve Job gone nuts... or his 'NUTS' are gone. Next Apple will be again suing Samsung for Honeycomb tab 10.1, since it's as thing as ipad2. I guess this is what happens when you start loosing Market share... you go crazy
Apple did the same thing in the 80's when Gates and crew stole the look of MAC for Windows. They didn't win that one, They won't win this one.

Jobs is on medical leave, so it's the other idiots that can't come up with iphone 5 or ipad 3 so they plan to make up the revenue with litigation.

Here's an idea: Send them all the componetsthat samsung took out of all the captivates sent back for warranty replacement!
Wait, shouldn't they just sue Android / Google instead then? Is TW really that distinctive from the rest of the Android offerings that -that- is the battle they're going to pick??
If I recall correctly, even the first multi touch iPhone screen was not an Apple invention. They did a hostile take over or something of a Finnish company who invented it.
I could be wrong though!

You gotta admit, Touchwiz's app drawer looks very VERY similar to iOS. Vanilla android doesn't, but Touchwiz does. Even the dots on the top thing look similar to iOS (on the bottom on touchwiz 4)
Apple reminds me of that FG episode where Chris gets popular. He gets humiliated and falls off the face of the planet in the end despite him being at the top of the food chain the day before.
Apple's argument is horrible. I mean seriously iOS 4 has no widgets on the home screen AND there is probably no other logically coherent way to create an easy to use app drawer than a grid one. Also, look at the design of notebooks. They all have basically the exact same design lcd on the lid, keyboard on the bottom, assorted ports, etc! I predict Apple going to lose another lawsuit, in fact, I see no other outcome but that becoming reality.
I'll agree that TW interface is similar to that of iOS, but that doesn't explain why they're suing over the Nexus S.

Samsung's lawyers response should be along the lines of: "We take offense to Apple's accusations that the Galaxy S phones and tablets are a copy of the iPhone and iPad. Our devices do not instantly make the user a douchbag. Nor are our devices incredibly gay. Hater's gonna hate"
I hope Samsung wipes the courtroom floor with an apple
apple needs to find a hobby other than suing anything that is a threat to their sales. What are they going to do when samsung decides to stop selling memory for iphones?
Didn`t they also try to sue for the colour white a few years back?

My son has enjoyed a lot of the apps above. I have found Kid Mode by Zoodles to be a good choice too.
My four year old loves Pocket God, angry birds, that jumping cow game, and a few others.
Pocket god is cool because its never ending. You just torture the little guys and play with the scene.

My 2 year old would always hit the home or some other status bar button and interrupt the games.... This allows you to Hide the status bar...then unhide it when they are done. Awesome.
My 4 year old is not that much of an issue as he understands not to touch the bottom of the screen.

natural user interface? that thing would need one heck of a manual. there's a reason babies can use android/iOS - its about as simple and natural as it gets, until it starts tapping into brainwaves. i would NEVER use this, no matter how "natural" or "futuristic" it is.

I like the idea very much but I don't know about the shape.
One thing they need to learn fast is that the only way they can compete with world of androids and iphones is to make their operating system an open source like android. Otherwise they will stand no chance.
That is what has kept android in the game against iphones.

First this isn't requesting a Pokedroid Rom.
I have an R4i SDHC 3DS, and as few know. It allows you to play back ups of any DS game, and Rids region locks.
Now I'm a hardcore Pokemon Fan, and being such a fan. I've played every Pokemon game ever, about 5 times. Then one day I stumbled across something called Pokemon Pitch Black, Pure White.
Which is a custom made Pokemon Rom, making the game about 10x harder Now I'm looking for things like that, but I don't now where to look! I'm sure one user has a website filled with Custom Roms. I did come across one a long time ago, but IDK whats the URL :3

Just to play off any Rule breaking. I do own ALL Pokemon games legally , and use my own legal backups for the Mods.
Has that custom rom been hacked in a way where you can actually catch all of the pokemon? After a while, I couldn't find any more friends to trade with. Never got a full pokedex, considering how much you have to trade to complete it
Loved the games. Ah, it almost made going to weddings, errands with my mom, the drives in the car, and all the other useless times in my life worth it

Yeah, every single one Even legendary. Epic as hell, I love playing the Hacks on my DS. On the PC is kinda lame, gotta have it handheld.
