[Q] app streaming to phone/pda (like citrix) - General Questions and Answers

Hi all,
i was just wondering if there are any other solutions then Citrix to provide a win32 app to my phone/pda thru a terminal?
Because Citrix is way to expensive for only a single application to stream, i have been searching for alternatives.
Does anyone know?
or maybe a emulator that would let me run this little app on my winmo?
thanks in advance..

Emulator

Hello all.
I have to develop a web service client (WAP) for the spanish version of the XDA II (the TSM500), and I can't test it with a real device yet. So, does anybody knows if there's any emulation software for this?
Thanks a lot.
David.
you are not the only one it seems

Internet Banking - Is it possible on your PPC?

Hi!
Has anyone tried it? Are you able to access your own account and carry out transaction?
Is it true that even with java installed its not possible because the java on the PPC does not have security features.
What requirements are necessary on your PPC if you're able to perform internet banking.
Thanks
Yup, on my old XDA2 and 2i I needed to do it whilst away on business, etc.
Now I've got an Exec, I imagine when I need to do it again under the 3G network it will be much faster than it was under GPRS.
Ant
RE
Hi Anton.Valleyman,
How did you do that? What softwares do you require like a java software to be installed on your PPC?
Many banking sites can be accessed but cannot login due to lack of security features on the PPC java software
Would you like to sahre your expereince?
Thanks
I'm using Windows Mobile 5.0 but I have not manage to access websites using java.
Anyone can help? I would really appreciate.
RE
andy_sg,
Have you try installing 'Jeode for PPC' a java plugin?
RE
andy_sg,
What java sites are you referring to? Could you provide some?
Thanks
Hi FOSA,
Please try this website and tell me if it works or not.

Looking For Free IM App For WM6/SmartPhone, and free SSH app

Hi. I'm running a T-Mobile Dash with Windows Mobile 6, and I'm looking for a free IM client that can connect to AIM, at least. I know Windows Live gives me Pocket MSNIM, but only a tiny minority of my friends use that. The on-board Oz Instant Messenger refuses to work with AT&T, and I just get error messages, so I'm kind of at a stand-still right now.
The other thing I'm looking for is a lower priority, I'm trying to find an SSH client for my SmartPhone too. PocketPuTTY, I've heard of, but I can't seem to find it. Again, I'm cheap, so I'm hoping for something free.
There's one catch to all this: I'm running a Mac, so EXE installers are no-go. CABs and SFX (Self-Extracting ZIPs) are usable, but anything more complex isn't going to work.
Thanks for all the help!

Welcome to XDA-Dev
Rule of thumb: follow my articles - I've published full Bibles and roundups on almost all aspects of handheld computing. Your question is answered in the Smartphone General forum, at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323654
Let me know if you need help in extracing the CAB file of any EXE installers - I'll upload it for you.
Oohh, useful!
Well, thank you. Your article was thorough, and (in the end) informative. I was aware of Mundu, IM+ and Imov messengers, and I was hoping someone had an alternative to them that was free. Your article eventually lead me to the Basic version of Imov, but the problem is that it's one of those set-up EXEs that I can't seem to crack. I've managed to find a download of Imov Basic 1.22, and I'd be willing to provide it for you.
Thank you for the offer, and all the help.
is there any cracked verson available for mundu

Since I don't see it mentioned, you may be able to use PocketPuTTY,
http://www.pocketputty.net/ ,
for a SSH application. It works for me. The file that you download while named PocketPuTTY.exe is a Windows Mobile binary. Just copy it to your phone and run it. Hope it works for you.
So regarding IM clients Do they all use webgateways provided by the Makers. Are there any that directly connect to the AIM, Yahoo!, and MSN Servers?
Not that I walk around wearing a tinfoil hat. but I just like to know where my data is being sent.
Octro Chat uses one. But I can't find any info as to if mundu uses one. If they all use it I will get over it but I was just curious is anyone knew.
pocket putty doesnt run on smartphones just ppc. i am also looking for a free shh client for smartphone (wm standard)
if your looking for just aim..this is about as good as your gonna get lol

Putty for S710

Hi all,
I was trying the Pocket Putty client today, but I was not able to make it work on my S710.
Seems this has been developed only for Smartphones with touch screen? At least I could not find a way to jump to the input boxes to type connection information in.
Is there a secret trick or is this just not working on a S710`?
Does anybody know an alternative SSH client?
Many thanks again
Andi

Hi,
I use ZaTelnet from http://www.zatelnet.com/zap/main.php
Which works well on my S710.
Mike
is there no free software?
Code:

Thats "free" trial with session time limitation.
This is telnet only :-(
Hi,
I was just giving the recommended tool a quick check.
However, I figured out it only supports the telnet protocol but not the SSH which I would need.
So, does anybody know a free tool that also supports SSH?
Pocket Putty would do, but it seems unusable on a WM6 smartphone.
Thanks again for all your help.

Zatelnet support:
Telnet
SSH1
SSH2
SSH2 Interactive
SSH2 Key file
Serial port
Cant find the settings..
Hi,
thank you again.
But are you really really sure the zatelnet light does the trick, not the professional version only?
I may be stupid, but I cannot find the setting where to switch from normal telnet to the SSH connections.
Thanks again for your help.

ZATelnet "light", or: the free version, only supports Telnet. That is correct.
If you want SSH you should use the Professional version.
This one supports Telnet, SSH1 and SSH2 and both password as key login.
One tip: if you use it, you might want to disable your T9 function because else you have to press enter after every key you press
Found MidPSSH
Hi,
just found a java program called MidPSSH.
This is free and seems to do what I expect.
Will continue testing it...

Im very curious to find out myself...i tried to check www.whatsapp.com but i cant seem to get on...any ideas anyone?
i have been searching for this for a long time now and whatsapp dont mention anything about a windows mobile version being released. This would be an extemely useful app... ideas??
would be so damn good. Have u talked to the developers?
hi, im not shure but i think shapeservice im+ can do simmilar things cant it?
mad
this app Rocks. Any ideas to make it compatible to windows mobile?
Need it too, whatsapp rocks!
(but the iphone doesnt, neither the BB)
Love my HD2
I have tried to email whatsapp with enquiries as to wether they will make a winmo version but i have this installed on my ipod touch and its brilliant.
any developers kno how it works and if we can create a similair program that can connect to whatsapp users??
This app is very cool because works with your phone number (no with emai, or usernamesl), if your friend have this app in his phone the software automatily detect your friend. unfortnaly no for winmo
