Images don't equal functionality.
If the slider doesn't already do it, changing the pix ain't gonna fix it.
I was thinking like if they take the prsent slider (sound on, and vibrate is what i have) and switch it to silent and copy that png or whatever. Couldnt they do this? Or do i just reeaalllyy have no idea what im talking about lol

The slider now just goes from sound on to sound off... you specifically said you want it go from "from sound on, vibrate, and silence". Adding the vibrate part will take some modding of the android.policy.jar and that is a good amount of time if you haven't done it before...
If I had time... I would look into it. Most devs would take on projects that are pretty simple and knock them off no problem... but you are basically asking to rebuild the lockscreen which could take time. You are going to have to learn to do it yourself... or just be patient. It'll be here soon I'm pretty sure
You can try this one...
http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/198067-morph-android-2-2-stock-lockscreen-dialer-sliders-mods.html#post1749273
It has sound/vibrate. No silent. It looks great to. And there are also sliders for the dialer.
Yea ive seen those it just like the look of the new ones but hey.. Beggers cant be choosers right? Lol
or, u can just get widget locker form the market. or maybe i can PM u a HELPFUL tip.
Go ahead and pm me your tip
i already have widgetlocker but i like the look of the siders in froyo (the blue ones)

Anyone know how to change color and shape to the lock button without installing a whole theme? I like the way my phone looks now and have worked hard to get it like this. I also like where the lock button is located on the screen but i would like to change color to it and maybe even shape.
And also, anyone know how to change the "slide" text?
Any help with links/cabs or other info would be much appriciated.
Here's a pic of the how it looks now..

Using DC v2.06. I have a clear lockscreen, as shown below. Right now the notifications come up transparent (missed call, etc) at the bottom of the screen. With the clear lock, it's very heard to read the text. Hence why I added the extra black bar at the bottom of the phone, to make them readable.
However, that bar is ugly at the bottom! Is it possible for someone to figure out a way, through the xml file, to add a black shadow to the white notification text, so that it will still be readable with a clear lockscreen? See the default date/time text on the default lockscreen for an example of what I'm after.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You mean like this .
When no notifications:
Missed call:
Press while screen locked:
I applied a black background, 50% transparent, that will only appear when a notification message exists.
Replace the attached in your 'layout' folder and you are good to go (removed the .txt extension).

Everything transparent is basically the completely clear lockscreen, the above adds the shadow for when notifications appear, so that the text is more readable.

Awesome. Thank you so very much! I'll have to try this in the morning.
I seem to be having a problem that I didn't notice before using this...
When my alarm goes off, I can't disable it from the lockscreen. I have to unlock my phone before I can shut off the alarm.
JsChiSurf, could you let me know if you have the same issue? I'm not saying 100% sure that this is what caused it, but it's the only change I've made recently.
Thanks!

The XML files are compiled binaries. You have to use a hexeditor to modify / patch the locations in the binary you wish to change.
Is anyone else having the alarm issue with this? I have to unlock my lockscreen in order to turn off the alarm.
in zens slide port, the normal shortcut add button leads to faves. is it possible to do something like that? i like how the app drawer is in the middle, just makes more "sense"(get it?)

ADDON:
(my ideal setup)
honestly, id like to JUST have an app drawer. we have a hardware phone button that works in taking you to the dialer in any app your in, long press has made the add button obsolete, but ovbiously the app drawer is still needed by default.
i know i know, go to launcher, but i like sense :-D
i know how to use metamorph, so i COULD make buttons transparent, but to switch around the actions...i think will take more dev'ing than im capable of. unless someone has a hardcore article i could read on remapping.

You guys kill me. Just saw this thread, as I happen to read miscellaneous posts while eating lunch .
I've never really looked at the feasibility of re-mapping buttons for such a purpose. Given that I personally don't have a similar want/need, not sure how much "effort" I'll put into, but I'll take a peek and see what, if anything, can be done.
Personally i love the sense widgets, but hate the bottom buttons, so i use stock home. If theres also a way to change the 7 screens to 5 or 3, that would be awesome. My ideal interface is somewhere between aosp and sense.
I've actually thought about this too and think it would be really neat. App drawer in the middle, phone on the side and replace the "Add to Home" button with something more useful. I never posted anything because I didn't know if it was possible but if it is then I'd love this!

Maybe replace the Add to Home button to Settings or Internet, personally i wouldn't mind figuring out how to change them and switch the phone button to app drawer and add to home to setting and change app drawers current button to internet, then my home screen would be clear.
We've had this convoy before, though slightly different....my preferred setup would be simply replacing the "+" button's add function with a second tray containing shortcuts to your contacts.....pretty much like the people widget, but in a drawer instead of taking up one of my pages. I like having the phone button in the middle, but if some can figure out how to remap the buttons, I wouldn't mind looking in to customizing the layout and functions. Right now, I'm not even sure where to start, lol!
anything different for the "add" button would be great! never understood the need since you can just as easily long press to add
Remapping existing functions is rather easy. Trying to add a new function to a button that does something completely different, though not impossible, would take a lot more work.
Here's a quick "proof of concept" video:
http://screencast.com/t/NDdkNDBmY
I've basically just remapped the application draw and phone launcher buttons to switch. I don't show the left icon press, but it pulls up the phone. Didn't show it in the video, as I don't want to reveal any phone numbers.
There are some bugs to iron out, but if you were to eliminate the left and right buttons all together, it would be good to go now. Currently, and I just started looking at this, if you press the right button, a variable is not getting reset, and then if you press the middle button, it will take you to the shortcuts rather than the app drawer again. But, as soon as you click the 'phone' button, now mapped to the left button, the app drawer in the middle begins working again...

Hey guys,
After realizing how fantastic the tab is after switching to 182 dpi I figured I'd fix up some of the apps to fit better.
Thanks to Xan from this thread for the quick tool and batch script to make the changes.
These apks are from Overcome 1.6.3 and should work on other dpi settings as well.
Instructions, push the new files to /system/app after mounting the system rw, or using root explorer..
*Edit May 4th* I've attached an updated Email.apk as well
Disclaimer:The Standard disclaimer applies, I'm not responsible if this causes boot loops, any other issues with your Tab, or giant meteors to crash into your car.Backup the files you are replacing first.
So u did rename framework-res to 1.apk and twframwork to 2.apk.. decompiling phone & contacts worked for me. Give me a howl if it didn't work and ill zip up mine and send it..
oh im editing overcome145 - not tested 163
just a friendly tip, might be a idea to use frameworks from a stock 2.2.1 rom instead from a moddified rom, might be a glitch there..
yup, sure did.
*edit* think I've got it now, I compiled the new apktool and started fresh..
Can you post screen shots
I tried, but ddms doesn't capture them correctly. The change makes the apps pretty much look exactly like they do at 240dpi.
can you change the email app too please? when i go into the landscape 2 pane mode, the left pane doesnot appear correctly.
thanks
Yeah for sure. Ill have a look and fix it tomorrow..

Phone might be a tough one, any time I adjust the xml's at all it just crashes out the phone app when you end a call, thereby restarting the modem.. Best temp fix I can think of is to adjust the png for the end call button to be transparent on the right hand side.
I'll keep plugging away at it though.
Noticed it too, tested just changing background to black, and it would behave the same, fc on inn or out going.??

So, currently I have the (I think..) AOSP lockscreen. It looks nice and all, but I find myself missing the ability to be able to open my text messages directly from the lock screen. I found it extremely useful... I could go back to the default Froyo lockscreen, which of course has the functionality I would like, but I was wondering if there are any others around with the functionality I want, but with a... cooler? look? =]
