[Q] Lockscreen - Continuum Themes and Apps

So, currently I have the (I think..) AOSP lockscreen. It looks nice and all, but I find myself missing the ability to be able to open my text messages directly from the lock screen. I found it extremely useful... I could go back to the default Froyo lockscreen, which of course has the functionality I would like, but I was wondering if there are any others around with the functionality I want, but with a... cooler? look? =]

Not quite what I was looking for, but oh well, Thanks anyway.

you would have to edit xmls in framework and add pngs to get what your looking for. widget locker etc are good but dont communicate with our ticker well

Sorry, I thought you were asking how to get back to the stock lockscreen. I guess I didn't read the OP right.

Power control widget

can someone please upload the cm 6 power control widget or tell me where to find it in the rom to pull out, thanks
The power control widget is part of settings.apk so if your trying to use it in sense it won't work

I would love to see this ported to AOSP and even Sense ROMs too. It seems like they're doing it over in the Evo forums and it doesn't appear to be part of the Settings.apk. Instead, there are a bunch of framework modifications that are required. Mainly to framework.jar, framework-res.apk, and services.jar (but some others too).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9157872
I know next to nothing about this, but just pulled the framework files from CM6.1, AOSP 0.9.8 and a Stock Evo to compare to the files from those at the above thread. Highly doubt I'll get anywhere with it, but who knows!
If anyone else wants to take a crack at it, I'd love to be a guinea pig.

I am with you on this, I'd love to see this on aosp, I asked a bunch of times and the people on that forum acted like I was breaking the sacred aosp trust trying to add something. So I went with jaybob's build instead. Works great and much more stable than using the nightlies.

You can get an exact replica of CM6 power control widget by installing the widgetsoid widget from the market.

Wow... Widgetsoid looks great. Thanks for the recommendation.
However, just to clarify, what I was referring to (perhaps we're not all on the same page) is the power controls notification bar found on CM 6.1. That would be sweet to have as it saves some space on your home screens that can be used by other widgets or shortcuts.

Whose page are you talking about? I quoted the original poster, not you.
BTW, widgetsoid does have two different widgets included in the download. One for the battery, date, signal and the other (gasp!) for the power bar. Try it

unlock lockscreen

Hi guys.
Does anyone know how to create a better lockscreen system, apart the default one inside new ICS roms for note?
I mean: there is maybe an app or a mod to have, for example, some functionalities similar to jkay's mod for gingerbread? I miss that much!
Maybe changing launcher?
Thanks in advance
play market has numerous lockscreens..
options is endless..
thx for reply
I suggest widgetlocker

Well I never cared much for them but after reading this I installed Magic Locker and I am liking some of the themed ones...quite fancy
You have Minimalistic text, you can do a lot of things
thanks to all.
I am trying widget locker and I find it quite useful even if not properly easy to configure...
Use either goa ROM or alliance ROM...both of them comes with in built lock screens which can be modifiable using inbuilt applications...goa ROM supports ten different lock screens

EDIT: I typed this first without thinking - see JRW's post below - I will just shrink this text so it's not so noticeable...
The lockscreen image is in framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi/zz_moto_sd_lockscreen_portrait, or something like that.
You can drag and drop normal .png images with 7-zip or winzip between apks.
But, Remus has a lockscreen mod on it so that moto sliding door won't show up. You would need to make an edit to the bools.xml in Remus also (config_sliding_door_lockscreen --> false - or something like that)... or just flash one of the lockscreen mods in OP#2 first to get the door back, then change your image..
He's wanting the new updated lockscreen that is on the overseas roms. It will take a lot more then swapping out some .png images. I have tried a few different methods but never had any luck. It will be some smali code swapping just don't know which ones?

Ahhh, correct you are! Forgot it was that new updated lockscreen from the asian versions... Yea, good luck with that! I also briefly looked at it when it came out...
Sorry, OP, it's not so simple as just switching images... I need to look closer before leaping to offer answers..
Thanks for looking into it.
I guess widget locker would do for now.

Stock Internet Icon

Hey guys, does anybody know the location for the stock touchwiz icons. For example i am using the apex launcher and i would like to use dolphin browser as my default browser in the dock on the main screen. However i would like to keep the stock internet icon. I know you can change the icon for the shortcut i just have no idea where it is. Any ideas?

I don't believe there is any way to get at them strictly via the file explorer. However, if you download one of the the TouchWiz ROMs on here, you can extract the icons from there and just copy them over to your phone. I believe they're in the framework apk, which you can extract with 7zip or what have you, but I'm not in a position to check right now (not supposed to download random stuff like that on my work computer).
Well the stock Internet apk is located in two files: /system/app/SecBrowser_VZW.apk and system/app/Sec_BrowserVZW.apk.odex
I'm thinking the icon would be in that directory. To be safe, I'd actually download a stock rom and pull the app from there and mess with it. I wouldn't pull it from your current phone just in case you messed something up.

Here is a link to a tutorial I wrote on editing .9.png files. It's part 2 of 3 but the most directly aapplicable to what you are trying to do.
It links up with the other two parts at the top of the post, so if you need to catch up on using some of the tools from part 1, it's right there.
SOLVED
SlimSnoopOS - Exactly where you said they would be. Followed your instructions and downloaded a TW ROM from XDA. One question though. when i get into SecBrowser_VZW.apk i see that there is a couple different versions of the icon. Would it be best for me to always try and grab the highest resolution one that i can find.
Jarredw - Amazing. Thank you.
Blue6IX - If i understand this correctly, with this guide i can edit the icon from within the apk itself so i don't have to use a custom icon with APEX Launcher? If so that is awesome, im just wondering if it would affect updating of the app?
You'd have to re-add the icon and recompile the .apk file each time it updated.
I mostly threw it here so you could learn how to extract the icon, which someone else did for you while I was typing it up.
Anyways, now you can freely edit icons for any apps you have on the device, at the very least extract all the ones you want to keep around.
Ya, that's what i figured. Thank you.

It makes homescreen icons with a custom image or icons from other apps. Can't believe nobody here heard of this. Its how most people theme their homescreen.

Most launchers have that function built in. That's probably why nobody has heard of it.

AOSP Lockscreen on Stock Based Rom

Generally speaking I really prefer the AOSP Roms but I have a few things in the stock based roms that I can't seem to get away from. One of them is the sound. Its just better on stock. I won't go into detail because a) that's not the point of this post and b) I don't want any of the excellent devs working on AOSP roms to think I'm being critical of their work.
One of the things I preferred about the AOSP Roms was the lockscreen. I just don't like LG's implementation. I don't think it looks as good and I don't like having to press enter after typing in my pin. It's petty on my part, but it irks me. Anyway, I had been trying to figure out how to port the lockscreen from AOSP to work on stock based roms and as it turns out, it's already there. In a rather foolhearty attempt to learn more about LG's lockscreen, I decided to make a nandroid backup, then boot, and just erase the LGLockScreen.apk/LGLockScreen.odex files from the /system/app folder using ES file explorer. I also erased the LGLockSreenSettings.apk/LGLockScreenSetting.odex files as well.
Now I have the AOSP lockscreen but things aren't exactly 100 percent stable. I'm trying to find a solution to make the switch and not have weird force closes. Sometimes it works fine but every once and a while, it will behave strangely and spit error messages at me. I've searched but I haven't seen any threads where anyone has managed to do this. (I tried erasing the lockscreen and leaving the settings files but that didn't work 100% either) Any suggestions?

After:
a working AOSP lockscreen for stock would be more than a welcome addition.
I changed this line in my build.prop because i wanted a live wallpaper on my lockscreen. It also makes your lockscreen aosp style.
Find
ro.lge.capp_lockscreen=true
Change to
ro.lge.capp_lockscreen=false
Reboot
Enjoy
Also for whatever reason root explorer wouldn't let me change true to false. It would only let me spell out fals so i downloaded buildprop editor free from play store worked great.
Should mention i have Verizon G2

Well setting the LG lockscreen to false enabled the AOSP lockscreen. I was able to get the lockscreen to unlock when the correct PIN was entered without having to press the enter button, which was not possible previously. I did notice that my navigation bar transparency was disabled when I was not using the LG lockscreen. With the QuickWindow cover I have I reverted back to LG lockscreen for the window effect and the transparent nav bar.
I went ahead and changed the line in my build.prop as stated above, and it definitely cleaned up the lockscreen how I wanted, but now my wallpaper is gone. Its just a black screen and I've tried changing it to other wallpapers but it just stays black. Any ideas?

I did this to have my homescreen live wallpaper on my lockscreen to mimic the look of Gummys kitkat rom while running lg based rom. I really havent tested beyond that. I set live wallpaper of choice ( phase bean ) onn homescreen then modified the build.prop. After reboot ive got a aosp style live wallpaper lockscreen.
Edit
Just tried and whatever wallpaper i set to homescreen is on lockscreen live or from gallery. Tried changing just lockscreen alone with no luck so if you want to separate wallpapers this might not be for you

Agreed, actually one of the things I wanted from the AOSP lockscreen was to use the same wallpaper as the desktop. I thought it looked weird having different ones and when I would choose the same one for the desktop and the LG based lockscreen, they would be clipped differently and just looked even weirder to me....
FYI, for those of you doing this, I'm noticing some strange issues when combined with some Xposed modules. I'm actually thinking I might install a fresh rom and do this so that I can try to figure out which module(s) might be of concern...
Tried the build prop thing too but although i am able to save it it gets revertet to "true" directly after...
EDIT: Forget it! Altered the build.prop manually with root browser and now the lockscreen has changed. But still i have to press enter after the pin...
EDIT: Forget that too. In xposed g2 settings i could activate "quick unlock".

I found it under the gravity box module. I'm not sure it's in the G2 module since our G2 wouldn't normally use this lockscreen...

Which G2 Xposed module did you use? Nevermind
noticed a small issue with using this tweak: sometimes after a phone call when it goes back to the home screen it's just an empty wallpaper instead without any icons and the only way to get out of is to bring the notification shade and go into settings from there and then go back to the home screen.
I've seen that too. It's kind of annoying and really strange. I wish I knew how to stop it from happening because I really don't like the lg lockscren...
