The box for the Belkin leather case says suitable for the XDA 2 - it isn't even close.
There is no access to the volume slider and camera buttons, the phone buttons and the headphone jack either. Its a well made and constructed case for the XDA I think but definitely not the XDA 2.
Repeated attempts to contact Belkin Oz by phone and email have resulted in no response. I guess they don't want to admit to the design being so poor that after the leather loosens up a little I found out the hard way that the XDA 2 will slide right out of it and onto whatever lays below with dramatic consequences. Albeit I had to make some alterations to the bottom of the case to gain access to the phone buttons - these were only minor and no way the cause for the fall-out. The standard case has nothing at the top to hold the PDA secure.
Normally in my experience Belkin have great products and great service - but alas, not this time.
Bought a Krusell case now - read review on other post - fantastic design and quality!!
Other than simple cables, I've never seen anything from Belkin that wasn't complete garbage. I'd sooner use a tin can and string than buy a Belkin wireless product, and none of the cases I've touched has looked usable.
In all honesty, I think the original XDA2 case does the job. Granted the belt clip isn't too clever, but i've never had any other problems with how it protects...probably cos i haven't dropped it yet but, then again, if you drop it unless it's a steel case you're gonna do at least some damage.
Anthony
I've never heard of anyone being happy with the original case, that's a first. I spent about 2.7 seconds thinking about using it, then realized it would never do. To each his own I guess.
I'm now using one of the aluminum cases. Pretty nice, but not perfect. Radio interference is one issue. My EB case for the XDA I was absolutely perfect (rare for me to say that), but they don't make one for the XDA II.
Has anyone seen a car dock available yet? I'm coming in from a long line of WinMo phones from the Tilt2 all the way back and even on Ebay I've been able to find SOMETHING. So far either for the DesireHD or the Inspire it's a little barren. Anyone seen anything useful? I don't need speakerphone or anything like that, just charging.
I installed this under the driver's seat for my tilt2 and now use it with the inspire.

I bought it, didn't look like a generic PDA car holder like you usually find, it was made specifically to fit the Desire HD. And for 5 bucks with free shipping...

Let us know how his works when you get it. I don't think it is an official HTC doc as I cannot find it on their website. I am interested in the "special cord" that enables the car doc...is this the same thing as the N1? Maybe this does not work on the I4G
It's not on the HTC America site. I found it here http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/sk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=205737

I bought this one. Haven't had a chance to really use it but the suction cup seems really strong and it holds the phone great.

So today I got the mount I posted in a previous post as well as a silicone skin that ordered from the same guy on eBay. Generally when you buy something so cheap from China you expect it's crap and it'll go in the trash the moment you get them, but believe it or not both are pretty good, especially the skin. I got them together for $8.50, arived only a week after shipping, and he even through in a free screen protector.
Graded
Skin - A.
Pros
Great quality, really helps with the slick feeling of the phone. Fits like a glove.
Cons
It makes the unlock and volume buttons even harder to press but not too hard.
Mount - B.
Pros
Fits the phone exactly, pretty stable for plastic. Easy to assemble
Cons
Would have been nicer if it was metal, wish it could fit the phone with the skin. Took me a bit to figure out how it worked since it didn't come with any instructions.

I think I'm gonna pick up the under the seat mount. It gets too cold for a suction cup type up here in Manitoba, Canada..when it gets below -40 on my car thermometer, it falls right off LOL
I Googled a case for my Inspire and ended up with a car holder that has power jack and mini audio jack with a cable for cig lighter and aux in on my car deck that mounts on the dash,a leather case and a car and house charger ,all 4 items for 15.99 with shipping in my mailbox in two days, just make sure its a US company ,the Hong Kong vendors shipping takes 10-15 days,Vegas

I tried several plug-and-play kits before and never had good luck. I finally broke down and bought arrot MKI 9100 which along with a harness for my vehicle cost ~$200 at crutchfield. The install took about an hour and I am one happy camper
I bought this is a FM transmitter car charger it works but in bumpy roads or when i twist it in a sertain way it loses signal to my stereo i just twist it around and it works again but this problem almost never happens.
It does not Say its for the Inspire but if that cellphone has a screen as big as this one it will fit

I'm currently using Mountek CD slot mount.
I've tried pretty much every type of mount and this is the best IMO:
- No bouncing whatsoever.
- Puts the phone in optimal position on the center console
- No need for suction cup or double side tape on dash
- Portable. Came in handy during a recent vacation.
- $20

I actually bought the same exact mount from another site it was like a dollar more but I bought a few other things so it worked out to about the same price and all from one place. I love the design of it and I drive a 2007 Focus so the vents are in the PERFECT spot for this. I hate suction cup mounts with a passion because I'm really anal about my window being clean lol. What's nice about this particular mount too is the fact that they sell different mounts that simply just swap the phone holder. They sell bike mounts, suction cups, and more on the site I picked it up from.
The site

*edit* Just realized that the site is sold out of the vent mount at the moment.
Hey Guys,
I wanted to share this with you. I found it on ebay. and the seller is quite nice.
I broke one by accident. and he sent me one for free. so he stands behind his product. Im just posting this because i promised him id post. lots of people looking for belt clips
Here is a pic.
also here is the Ebay listing of it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...54972&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_1414wt_1141
NICE!
i like it....
Oooo i was looking at something like that
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Rubber-Belt-Clip...ccessories&hash=item230f6cbd60#ht_3948wt_1139
that actually its cheaper but i guess quality might not be all thaaat good?
but i was wondering how safe it is, like is the spring tight enough to keep the phone from dropping and etc?
I was thinking the same thing and a few people told me about that. BUt, its really safe. Its been in there and i was running and walking and all kinds of things. never popped out.
I also have buy a G2 Force Holster last week (12$ including car charger on ebay)
100% satisfied.
well my other question is, how long have you been using it?
just wonding how fast it may get worn out
Thanks

Ive had mine for 2 months i think? I got sick of keeping it in my pocket and that stupid case with all the clips + clip on. I forget its name.
GOt sick of it all. and just removed it and put it inside this clip. Much more comfortable and easier to use.
I tried both the HTC OEM version and the Cellet brand. Both about the same, the Cellet has the felt sticky in it to "protect the screen". (Not sure if it would really protect anything.)
On the HTC one the belt clip was leaps and bounds better. Easier to get onto your belt, and easier to adjust its position. Both had 180 degrees range of motion, but the HTC is a smooth, spring-loaded mechanism, where the cellet (and probably others) was just a plastic on plastic friction thing, that looked like it would wear out eventually.
So far, in use, it works very well. I don't jog with it, and you need to be careful you get the phone in it properly (without any bits of your clothing), but it stays put. I've been using it for about 3 months now.

sorry just to be clear
which is which version? HTC OEM is this? http://cgi.ebay.ca/T-Mobile-G2-Rubb...ccessories&hash=item2a0f4db70c#ht_1470wt_1139
and the other is any others?
Thanks =]
The OEM clip actually says "htc"on it.

The others are probably very similar to the cellet.

Holes arent there. They make such great cases also. Its a shame

Must be a reason why they are not there...just drill your own!
Yea, I had a Seidio on my BB, and they were the first cases I were looking at. But now that the pictures are actually out, I'm probably gonna go with TPUcases instead.

I've been noticing that most of the cases that are available only have the hole above the camera, even the ones sold by T-Mobile. So, it got me wondering, do the other holes serve any purpose? I took the back cover off and can immediately tell that the hole above the camera serves a purpose since it has a grommeted pass through in the inside housing. So, its good that every case I've seen has that hole cut out. The other four holes have no pass through and appear to only be there as rivet/mount points for the antenna contacts. So, after seeing that, I'm less concerned that even reputable manufacturers like otterbox are not including the other four holes that seemingly serve no active function.

I had the active case on my nexus and didn't like it. The rubber piece collects too much lint and dirt and would get stuck in my pocket when I try to pull it out. I think the surface case would be much better, but that is just me.
I dont see what holes are needed for? EM radation passes THROUGH materials just fine. (You can make calls inside your bathroom, right?). As long as its not a metal case, or some other materials that conducts current, you should be fine.
Sound on the other hand....

Anyone have any experience with a car mount/dock that will securely hold the One S while in a Cruzerlite case? I've tried a couple of cases off Amazon and they just aren't holding it tight which results in a lot of movement and bounce. Thanks!

I'm using this one :

and it work well.
Thanks for the information. My wife has this mount so I tried it for a bit...
http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-SM410-U...id=1339681263&sr=8-1&keywords=arkon+car+mount
It's another Arkon but looks to be a different model then yours (it's an SM410). That link you posted mentions the SM514 in one place and SM515 in another. Can you verify which one yours is?
Anyway, the SM410 has padding on the arms that I thought would be nice but it prevents the phone from being secured tightly. It looks like the SM515 has padding on the top and bottom arms but that shouldn't be as much of an issue I wouldn't think.
So you have a Cruzerlite case as well? The SM515 doesn't look to have side arms so how does it hold it when horizontol for GPS use? Does it hold it pretty securely?
The spring is strong enought to hold it.
I always use it in landscape and it was fine with my desire s who is heavier than the one s. I use it with a one s since 2 months now and no problem so far.
I like it because you have an easy acces to the usb port and the volume control on the phone.
And I do have a ruber case like the cruzerlite a nomame found on amazon uk.
Excellent. Thanks for the information. I found it on Amazon for $16.95 and Prime shipping. I think I'll order it and give it a try.
I have try severall one and it is the only one that gave me satifaction.
And it is useable with other phone too. With or without case.
And it comes with 2 set of arm, long one for big phone like the one s and some smaller one if you want to hold somethig smaller
alternatively, but more expensive: iGrip HRX Kit Universal Mount & Holder
Here is the one I have been using for the past 6 months http://http://www.shopandroid.com/ibolt-prodock-alumina/3AA9715.htm used it with both my MyTouch Slide and now with my One S, also works with the wifes Galaxy Nexus. A touch on the pricey side but IMO well worth it since it can work with almost any device.
I ended up getting the dock archie53 suggested, the iBOLT ProDock Alumina Universal Hands-free Phone Holder/Dock. Found it for $32+free shipping on Amazon...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007DP0OQ0/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
It does seem to hold my One S in a Cruzerlite case more securely. I noticed the padding on the arms is soft plastic rather then foam so I'm guessing it's because the plastic holds the phone tighter then the docks with foam on the arms was holding it.
Very impressed with it so far.
I can't post outside links yet, but look up "Comfort Wheels Brand Windshield Dashboard" on Amazon. They fit the One S just fine, and I use both the Cruzerlite and sometimes the D30 case.
It's really compact, too, so it's easy to fold away and toss in the glove compartment if you want it tucked away.
It's also really cheap! Orders fulfilled by Amazon.
For now I settle with the Osomount u-grip. Max. size phone is 5"
